Absolutely wonderful, peaceful and simple

May 2024 - Our time at this accommodation was absolutely wonderful. I felt as though I really got a sense of Italian culture staying here and I loved every minute of it. It was peaceful and simple.

The host was so nice and accommodating. He clearly works hard to keep the garden looking as well as it does. The balcony and outdoors…breathtaking!! The pics don’t do it justice. We spent most of our time out there just enjoying the view.

Don’t change a thing! It was perfect.

It was a pleasure dealing with Luca. Very responsive and helpful. I would definitely use Summer In Italy again!

Travel tips

  • We hiked Path of the Gods one day. Started right in Praiano instead of taking a taxi or bus to Bomerano. It wasn’t easy but we just did it slow and one step at a time.

October 2023 - The property was lovely and the patio views were amazing! The apartment was simple, quiet and comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped.

We were greeted with fresh basil, tomatoes and peppers for making tomato salsa! Also Giovanni [the owner] surprised us with fresh figs one morning. Our hosts were wonderful and helpful.

We loved our stay there and visiting all the surrounding areas!

Travel tips

  • One warning... If you bring a car to Praiano there are few parking options!
  • Che Bonta Restaurant, just a block away was great for dinner or lunch.

Loved it!

October 2023 - Yes, I loved it especially the view and the garden and terrace.

It was great to meet Giovanni the owner and his grandson who couldn't have been nicer and both were so helpful. It was so nice to be greeted with freshly picked tomatoes and figs from the their own garden when we arrived and on a couple of other occasions too. Everything was great.

We picked Summer In Italy because we have used it before and found it good but we even found it better this time. We have also been asked about where we stayed and I have been recommending Summer In Italy to all of my friends - keep up the good work especially Luca Trotta, thank you for a great holiday.

Travel tips

  • We loved the beach at Marina di Praia Beach - we got the bus from the bus stop which was very close to Casa Guglielmina.

The view alone made it an amazing stay!

September 2023 - We had a wonderful stay. The view alone made it an amazing stay. The apartment had everything we needed. The walk up the hill to the apartment helped work off the calories we consumed at our favorite restaurants. Praiano is a lovely small town that is very peaceful and not crowded after you return from visits to nearby towns that are a little more busy.

Giovanni [the owner] brought us fresh figs throughout the week that were sweet and delicious.

Luca at Summer in Italy was great to work with and communicated everything we needed to know.

Travel tips

  • Don’t miss Pompeii. Splurge on a private guide that will get you past the lines. It was an amazing experience.
  • When going to Capri ride the bus from the town up to Anacapri. Once there ride the cable car to the top. Beautiful views and a lovely restaurant.

Beautiful location and wonderful hosts

September 2023 - What a beautiful location and wonderful hosts. The views of the coast and sea are stunning and the lounge chairs allow optimal sun and relaxation. Praiano is quiet but not without good restaurants and shops. It's an easy downhill walk into town for groceries and public transportation, just remember there's an uphill return. There's a lot to see and do on foot and with easy access to adjacent towns by bus. We'd return in a minute.

Mr. Nicola and Mr. Giovanni [the owners] were very helpful and accommodating. Mr. Giovanni's father presented us with delicious tomatoes, lemons and figs he'd picked from the gardens he maintains on the property. We were really happy to stay at Casa Guglielmina and had no complaints. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Summer In Italy was a remarkable find and very helpful with answering our questions and assisting in securing the listing. Their monthly newsletter was informative and entertaining. I'd use them again to look for housing during any return to Italy.

Truly LOVED this place!!!

September 2023 - We loved it so much, we are going to plan another vacation around this lodging for a longer period of time.

The owner and property manager exceed all expectations. The pictures truly don't do it justice and they are good. The small garden and the view are breathtaking. The stairs are not as cumbersome as stated. I am 72 and we did fine.

I have now highly recommended Summer In Italy and will use them for future planning.

Travel tips

  • Eat at Cialì Bistrot, not the best ambiance but you can not beat the food or service (try zucchini flowers).
  • Restaurant La Strada was equally good but with ambiance (try the lemon ravioli). It was recommended to us by a local shop owner. We went back to thank them.

Well equipped, spacious and clean house with lovely little garden and terrace

June 2023 - We loved Casa Guglielmina and would definitely stay there again. The house was well equipped, spacious and clean. I used the kitchen quite a lot and everything I needed was there. Lovely little garden and terrace, even had an outside shower which was very nice during the hottest days. Peaceful and fantastic location. Easy access to the town and buses for Amalfi or Positano. We hired a self drive boat, a Vespa and took a bus ride to Sorrento.

It was a pleasure to stay in this lovely little, but spacious, villa holiday. Giovanni is a lovely caretaker and would be there if we needed assistance. He gave gave us some lovely home grown peaches and nothing was a problem it we needed him. Thank you!

We have used Summer In Italy many times before and always recommend others to them as they are so very professional and helpful. They have a great selection of villas on their website and we cannot wait for our next venture with them.

Travel tips

  • If you continue up the hill there is a nice rustic restaurant called Kasai Restaurant and further on the Restaurant La Moressa, which you must book as it's popular.
  • During the day we sometimes had a brunch at La Posteria which is near the Restaurant La Moressa and the Mini Market Tutto Per Tutti.
  • We visited the Gavitella Beach and restaurant regularly, simple menu which is delicious and the staff are amazing in the restaurant and on the beach. Be warned there are many steps down, about 400... But take it slowly slowly as it is worth it and there is a popular cocktail bar which we headed to on our way back up after a day on the beach. On the same level there is the One Fire Beach that is very lively, we prefer hiring a bed on the much quieter Gavitella Beach.

August 2022 - Great landlord right on site (family property). The location is awesome and fortunately a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Positano. You can walk to the town center and the bus stop in 4 minutes. Parking, like everywhere on the coast, is quite difficult. We'd love to come back.

We will be back!

August 2022 - Nicola and his father were attentive to any request and once they introduced us to the apartment, left us to take in the breathtaking view. The stunning view. The pinch yourself in the arm, is this real, view.

We planned to travel up and down the Amalfi Coast, but with a grocery market and delicious restaurants within walking distance, we spent our entire vacation in Praiano without a moment of regret. We will be back!

Travel tips

  • We spent our trip entirely on foot. Everything in Praiano is either up, or down, steps or an incline including arriving at the apartment. This is not a place friendly to those with disabilities.
  • The market is immediately down the "hill" and well stocked for affordable staples such as food, toilet paper and spirits.
  • The walk to the Gavitella Beach is down by the Church of San Gennaro, a lovely walk down the incline footpath and then 200 steps down (and up) to the beach itself. Half way down the narrow walkway, before the steps begin, is a little bar with a stunning view and lovely breeze which was welcome in the hot august summer.
  • Once you've made the breathtaking descent there is One Fire Beach where you can reserve beach chairs and be served cocktails and food in a vibrant atmosphere with beautiful servers and pulsing music. I recommend making a reservation before you go so you are secured a chair and an umbrella.
  • Our first night we ate at Trattoria San Gennaro with an ocean view and perfect Neapolitan pizza.
  • Up the hill from the apartment was Kasai where we had one of the best dishes on our trip, the truffle linguine. Another stunning meal was on the terrace of Restaurant La Dolce Vista where the presentation of the meals actually competed with the view.

Loved staying there

July 2022 - Casa Guglielmina was a delightful place to stay for a few days in July. The views from the terrace were unbelievable all day and into the evening across the bay to Positano and Capri.

We sat outside on the terrace for coffee in the morning and wine in the evening before eating out. Good air-conditioning meant the place was cool and having two bathrooms was a bonus as our daughter was holidaying with us. Plenty of space for the three of us.

A great location in Praiano, up the hill but easy walking distance to the amenities and down the coast for more restaurants. Loved staying there.

Summer In Italy was professional, informative and provided lots of details for our stay prior to arriving. Easy to arrange and book with. Would definitely use again.

Travel tips

  • Shops in the main road of Praiano, no more than ten minutes walk.
  • Same of the restaurants and the little bar at the bottom of the hill did great breakfasts and cocktails for later. Walk the other way to the top of the hill and there are more restaurants that way.
  • Buses are frequent if not necessary always on time and can be busy but the best form of transport around to Positano or Amalfi way.
  • We also used the golf buggy taxi to Positano which was great fun.
  • Walk through the paths and alleys to get a real feel of Praiano as there are lots of hidden gems.
  • Day out to Capri from Positano was easy to organise.

Just as the photos show but so much more

May 2022 - We loved our stay at Casa Guglielmina! It is just as the photos show but so much more.

We found it spotlessly clean both inside and out. The lovely terrace is a highlight of the property with a view that takes your breath away morning and night. The kitchen was well equipped. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms it is a perfect fit for a family or two couples. We loved having the washing machine. The house is quiet and peaceful. It is not in the hub of tourism but all is within easy reach which makes it almost perfect.

I found the booking process easy. I had my trip cancelled due to Covid however was satisfied to take a credit and so pleased that in the end we were able to travel to the wonderful Amalfi Coast. I liked the news letters and also booked a transfer from the train at Naples and back with an excellent firm.

I really like Summer In Italy website. I find the layout with pictures and descriptions to be superior to other rental websites. When we arrived there were no surprises, all was exactly as I expected.

Travel tips

  • The tourism office at the bottom of the hill was exceptionally helpful with everything. They have a ton of information and we were easily able to book tours, water taxis and get loads of information there. I highly recommend it as a first stop if you need help or information.
  • We found several good restaurants within an easy walk. Che Bontà just at the foot of the hill is really convenient, offers a great variety with a reasonable price. You can also do ‘takeaway’ from there which is a nice option when you have the stunning sea view on your terrace.

Excellent apartment with amazing views

April 2022 - It is an excellent apartment with amazing views. The host is responsive and even helped us with our luggage...

Be prepared for some steps and hills. Perhaps the only issue is parking; even in relatively low season, finding parking near (or even not so near) is an issue. Luckily Giovanni [the owner] let us use his reserved spot for a small fee.

Nothing to improve, it’s all great!

Travel tips

  • In general, coming to the Amalfi Coast in a car bigger than say Fiat 500 can be a mistake.
  • Fly into Napoli, take a cab to Praiano and walk or use public transport. Unless you a VERY competent moped/motorcycle driver, do not even think about renting mopeds.
  • You’ll work off the great food, there are steps (in some cases hundreds of them) everywhere. But the sites are certainly worth it.

Centrally located to great restaurants in Praiano and the bus stop as we did not have a rental car.

Great experience overall.

Although the owners did speak just a little English we had no issue as we were able to contact Summer In Italy folks who were super responsive to any inquiries we had and were able to assist with communicating with the owners and they were also very thorough with the information provided up front.

We went to both Amalfi and Positano by local bus and though enjoyable, preferred that we were staying in a quieter village. Would definitely recommend both Praiano and Casa Guglielmina.

Giovanni [the owner] was wonderful, sharing tomatoes and herbs from his garden, eggs from his hens and even some of his own wine.

Recommended by friend. Very happy with Summer In Italy.

We had an absolutely marvelous time

May 2017 - We had an absolutely marvelous time in Casa Guglielmina. The garden is lovely and the view spectacular. The apartment is well equipped and although near the centre of Praiano wonderfully quiet. The bus stop is located at a short distance, so you can comfortably reach any destination of the Amalfi Coast without your own car (recommended ;)).

Giovanni the owner was so helpful. He did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. He even offered us his loquats, lemons and eggs.

Thanks a lot to Summer In Italy for an excellent organisation. They were very helpful all the time. Thank you very much. I would recommend you to all all of my friends.

Travel tips

  • Praiano itself is beautiful. The best destination to be on the Amalfi Coast. Everybody is very friendly and helpful and you will find everything needed for your stay.
  • Criscito`S opposite the apartment offers absolutely delicious pizza and antipasti.
  • Café Mirante is the place to go for a drink late in the afternoon. Beautiful sunsets to enjoy with a lovingly prepared cocktail.

Great service from Summer In Italy and very helpful.

Absolutely perfect

October 2016 - Casa Guglielmina was absolutely perfect. My friend and I stayed there for 8 nights and it just wasn't long enough. The house was cozy, clean and centrally located. It took a couple of days for us to be able to get up the hill without issues, but by day 3 our legs were stronger and it was almost a breeze. The house was perfect and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Summer In Italy made booking this vacation rental very easy and painless. There are so many options on the web site and the staff is very helpful and quick to respond to emails.

Travel tips

  • My favorite restaurant nearby is Hosteria Il Pino, the food, view and staff are fantastic.
  • The Sita bus stop is just at the bottom of the hill so it is very easy to get where you need to go.
  • Praiano is my favorite town on the Amalfi coast because it is centrally located between Positano and Amalfi and it is a bit less hectic and touristy.

Unforgettable vacation

September 2016 - We have had an unforgettable vacation at Casa Guglielmina! The villa is in a great location, close to the beach/restaurants and just 2 minutes away from the bus stop. Praiano is a great location as it is easy to travel to Positano and Amalfi via public transportation.

Giovanni, the owner, was incredibly hospitable and friendly. The owners treated us like family and made us feel "at home". We really enjoyed the fresh eggs, tomatoes and figs (thank you again!).

Summer In Italy is a great company. Staying in a villa, in our opinion, is much better than a hotel to have a genuine experience of living in Italy. We decided to book with you thanks to a referral from a friend. We think that the information provided were extensive and helpful, we had a complete picture of what to expect.

Travel tips

  • In Praiano, there are two grocery stores near Casa Guglielmina. We recommend buying food daily (as you need it) as it is extremely fresh/nearby. Stores do not sell peanut butter, so bring some if you like it!
  • Favourite Restaurants: Criscito's (pizza), Che Bontà (quick food, always open), Restaurant La Strada (pizza), Hotel Tramonto D'Oro Restaurant (lemon cream ravioli), Bar Del Sole (gelato and desserts) and Kasai (calamari).
  • Beaches: La Gavitella (400 stairs up and down), and Marina di Praia.
  • Favourite sites: Capri (boat tour), Pompeii (private bus), Amalfi/Ravello/Positano (public transportation), and Walk of Gods in Praiano (1,000 stairs). For further information, visit tourist information shop (near Bar Del Sole).

April 2014 - You'll never tire of the view of the Amalfi coast with Capri at the end.

The terrace is roomier than pictures suggest and overlooks a beautiful garden that adds to the view. Bedrooms have the typical double bed made from two joined twins. The bathrooms have ample counter space around the sink. The shower is a pie wedge in the corner of the bathroom; it makes the best of space but is a close fit. Small price to pay for the view and convenience of staying in peaceful Praiano.

Thank you for a lovely stay.

Travel tips

  • The SITA stop with buses to Positano, Sorrento, and Amalfi is a short walk down the road the apartment is on. Numerous restaurants can be found on the road the bus takes, many with a view as good as the apartment.
  • If you explore Praiano on foot, be sure to go up the hill to the other side of Praiano. A good restaurant with a view in the other direction can be found not far around the bend, and numerous restaurants are on the tower path at Marina di Praia.

August 2011 - Really enjoyed our stay at Casa Guglielina, great apartment and has excellent air conditioning which is both quiet and efficient (especially as temperature was still really high at night).

Owner regularly brought figs which was great and was really kind and helpful (despite our lack of Italian!).

One bedroom has en-suite shower which was very efficient, main bathroom is OK but don't fiddle with the shower! (minor point but think it may need tightening to the wall!).

Kitchen is small but perfectly adequate but to be honest we didn't cook much.

Living room was very comfortable and lots of good "information" about local area.

Terrace had a fantastic view over Positano and the coast. Watch out for mosquitoes in evening though, Autan seems to keep them at bay!

Great service, (we have used you before) swiftly answered all e-mails, were very courteous and also sorted out a taxi for our return (as buses were not suitable for an early morning flight). Altogether excellent service and would definitely use again.

Travel tips

  • Shops at foot of hill, or walk up hill and straight on for about 500 m to the Tutto per Tutti supermarket which has a massive downstairs wine department.
  • Bus stop to Sorrento and Positano or Amalfi at junction at foot of hill (tickets in newsagents about 5 m up road).
  • Best restaurant in town is La Brace up past Bar del Sole. Went to Gennaro's Pizzeria, massive portions but not as good as La Brace.
  • Best bar: Bar del Sole.
  • Best beach - La Gavitella (down to Bar del Sole and down steps to church, then follow signs).
  • Don't miss - Amalfi and Ravello (especially Villa Cimbrone simply for the view: very famous), Capri (from Positano by boat) and lastly Positano but I thought it was a bit touristy!

September 2010 - What a charming house with a view to die for, a gorgeous garden and terrace and very well situated in Praiano. Only 2 flights of stairs to get to from the main road, and very close to the local market (which sells everything you need for your stay) several excellent restaurants and the bus stop.

I would go back every year and stay here in a heartbeat.

Travel tips

  • The beaches in this area are difficult to get to - either a long walk or you have to take a bus and then go down (therefore eventually up) a huge amount of steps only to find the beaches are very pebbly. If you are young adults, it's not a problem but it's difficult for young children or if you have mobility problems. If you want to swim and don't mind not doing it in the Mediterranean, I suggest the beautiful Hotel Tramonto d'Oro near the town centre. For ten Euros a day you can use their beautiful pool atop the hotel overlooking the sea with a view of Positano. They serve lunch at the pool from a delicious menu and supply big beach towels and very comfortable deck chairs. This family-run hotel has been in business since the 50's with good reason. If you don't use the pool, make sure to eat there at least once while you're in the area.

September 2009 - We loved Casa Guglielmina and would definitely go back. We recommend this place.

The view is very beautiful... Magical...and you can see it from the bedroom window. We enjoyed many dinners on the very private terrace watching the amazing view. The house is well constructed and high quality.

The owners are very sweet and offered fresh eggs and figs right off the tree.

Praiano is a nice size; less busy than Positano, but big enough fir shopping and seeing culture.

The beds are typical European (crack in the middle and a bit uncomfortable) but we slept well... it was quiet.

Our 3-year old loved the place. It gave her lots of room to play, she had her own very nice room. The garden was lovely and had many lizards which thrilled her.

Although they don't have parking, we easily found parking on the street (beginning of September though so I don't know about high season).

The only thing I missed was cooking utensils. They only had a pasta spoon, soup ladle, and a salad serving set.

I am 100% satisfied with your service. Thanks!

Just one tip about cooking utensils: do not hesitate and ask the owners! They will be able to lend you extra equipment that might make your cooking easier. Should the language be a problem, please feel free to contact our staff and we will get the message through.

Travel tips

  • The location is very close to the bus stop, however, you do need to walk uphill to get to the house and there are a few flights of stairs (down) to get to the property (but I am sure most places in the Amalfi coast are similar). The beach is really far and Praiano's beach is not sandy- but you can easily take the bus to Positano. If you have a child, bring them to run around (and play soccer) in the piazza at the church in the evening where the locals go. For tours and the beach, the bus to Positano is more convenient than the bus to amalfi which makes many stops. Rent a self-drive boat for a day for about 100 euro plus gas. We did it from Amalfi. It is great to see the view from the sea and stop to swim etc.

Dealing with your company was very good. We had a wonderful stay in Italy and will have many glasses of wine remembering our time, particularly swimming in the very beautiful sea and looking at the wonderful views. Thank you so much!!!

I would also love you to tell the owners that we felt very much at home and appreciated sharing their town.

We were very happy with your company. No hesitation in dealing with you again. We loved our time in Italy!!!

Travel tips

  • Need to have reasonable fitness.
  • Prices at the local shop were very good so don't need to look anywhere else.
  • Need to check on what is happening with regard to special events in the area.
  • Make sure you validate your bus ticket on the correct side!!! Research best deal for transport prices.
  • Amalfi was disappointing, Positano was great as was Sorrento. Capri not fantastic. Do the bus tours they are great value if you use them properly ie over the 24 hour period.
  • Be careful of service charges at restaurants, know what you are going to pay.
