Excellent location with phenomenal VIEWS!

September 2023 - Our group of 4 adults loved staying at Villa Volare! The location was excellent in a nice, quiet village and the VIEWS were phenomenal! We so enjoyed spending time on the terraces relaxing, eating meals, and just taking in the fabulous area.

The little grocery was a short walk away and there were many restaurants within a short distance. Would highly recommend!

Excellent service from Summer In Italy, very communicative, and enjoyed the newsletter with tips and advice. Also appreciated their recommendations for transfers and private chef. Would definitely use again!

Travel tips

  • Paolo’s eco-taxi (golf cart) was great for pick ups and drop offs locally.
  • Would also recommend private transfers to/from Napoli with Transfer Amalfi by Sergio and Anna Attianese.
  • Our best day was taking a private boat with captain from Marina di Praia Beach to Capri… So worth it!

Everything was fabulous

July 2023 - What a great place to stay. I can't think of a single thing that I would change about the house. Everything was exactly as pictured in the listing. Kitchen was well-equipped. Pool was great, view was great... Everything was fabulous.

The owner met us and directed us to the house... Very responsive. He had clearly thought about what guests would want.

I found Summer In Italy to be responsive and the whole process was straightforward. No surprises.

Travel tips

  • We really enjoyed Restaurant Da Armandino in Marina di Praia Beach.
  • The grocery store near the house had everything one could need.
  • I would not rent a car... The roads are just so tight.

Exceeded our expectations on almost every front

October 2022 - Villa Volare exceeded our expectations on almost every front. Views were spectacular - particularly of the sunrises every day!

Group of 6 adults never felt like we were in each other’s way - always a place for everyone to find peace and quiet when required and enough space for group games time.

Summer In Italy selection of properties met our needs. Staff were very attentive to all questions asked.

Travel tips

  • Takes a couple of walk to orient to the surroundings.
  • Grocery store is an easy walk to Mini Market Tutto Per Tutti.
  • Many great restaurants within 10-15 min walk as long as you can handle hills and steps.

Beautiful location with panoramic views

September 2022 - Villa Volare is a beautiful location with panoramic views over Praiano and the ocean. We stayed there with our children aged 9 and 13 and loved it.

The property is perfect. You can spend plenty of time relaxing and looking out over the balcony as daily local life ticks by. The bedrooms have high ceilings and stay cool, with their own little terraces with seating and views, each with an en suite which is also very pleasant. The kitchen is large and well equipped, the outside dining on the lower terrace is also an enjoyable spot to look out over the ocean. After a few days, you being to integrate into the slow rhythm of life of Praiano, and start to feel a part of it as you wander through the local alleyways and stairs which join the community.

Booking process and communication with Summer In Italy was excellent throughout. Fast responses to any questions, with emergency contact numbers available if needed. Would recommend.

Travel tips

  • We mostly self-catered and bought our groceries daily from Mini Market Tutto Per Tutti, which is a pleasant 5 minute walk from the villa. They have a good variety of fresh local product and reasonable prices.
  • If you go down the steps past the town hall, you can then follow an alleyway (Via Asciola into Via San Giovanni) with one wall decorated the whole way with ceramics which leads you to the beach. Along to the right of the villa is a short walk up Via Duomo to Piazza San Luca, with the church whose bells mark 7am, 8am and 8:30pm each day so memorably!
  • Visitors should be aware that it is difficult to find parking anywhere near the villa, and it will usually be 10-15 mins walk to the car, probably involving dozens of steep steps.

Fantastic villa, perfect location, stunning view

July 2022 - What a fantastic villa. We enjoyed our stay very much. We had 4 adults and 4 children and were very comfortable.

The location is perfect. Steps from a grocery and a 10-15 minute walk to the marina. Hands down the best part of the stay was the top terrace. The pool was a welcome relief from the walk home. The view is stunning and it’s very quiet. This was our second trip to Praiano and I can’t recommend a stay at Villa Volare more.

Spacious villa with outstanding views and perfectly situated in Praiano

July 2022 - The villa is spacious with 3 good en-suite bedroom all with air conditioning. The two outdoor places were lovely, a stair up was the pool and a large terrace with outstanding views overlooking the sea. The kitchen was large and fairly equipped, no sharp knives but we always bring our own, and the gas-stove was a bit slow but overall good. The terrace outside the main door has a good barbecue and can you can easily sit 8 persons by the dining table again with a stunning view. There were also an ice machine available!

The property manager was very nice and helpful.

We are pleased with Summer In Italy.

Travel tips

  • The villa is situated perfectly in Praiano, near a food shop and some good restaurants. It’s approximately 300 metres to the Sita bus stop on the main road and just down a couple of stairs to the local bus stop.
  • Just bare in mind that the villa and Praiano means a lot of stairs and hills but we knew it since earlier visits and think it’s definitely worth it!

We spent a wonderful week, the location was perfect

June 2022 - We spent a wonderful week at Villa Volare and the location was perfect. The huge terrace, breathtaking views and pool made us feel like we were in paradise and the steps are worth it.

We loved that unlike many of the other popular towns it's tranquil and homy and less touristy. One night we were treated to an amazing concert at the local church, while we were sitting on the terrace. We had a great vacation and would definitely stay here again.

The owner, Paolo is very helpful and responded to any questions quickly. He even helped arrange for our transfer to Naples with a stop in Pompeii. Made it a lot easier to arrange all the logistics.

Summer In Italy was great to work with. Everyone on the team is very helpful and responsive and they offered many helpful suggestions for our stay.

There are all the comforts a holiday home should have

August 2021 - Villa Volare is very welcoming, and there are all the comforts that a holiday home should have. The location is enchanting, and will allow you to enjoy the beautiful panorama of the gulf away from traffic noise and crowds. The beauty and tranquillity of the place will worth the number of steps you have to face to get to the property.

The owner is a very kind, helpful and empathetic person.

I found Summer In Italy services adequate, both for the speedy responses and quality of information and communication.

Travel tips

  • You don't need a car to stay in Praiano, there are no parking lots and you won't be able to move by car. Taxi and private drivers work very well both to get to the beaches and to nearby towns/villages.
  • The grocery store Tutto Per Tutti is very close and well stocked.
  • Restaurant La Moressa is within walking distance, good also for pizza (take-away too).

Truly enjoyed our stay

July 2021 - We truly enjoyed our stay at Villa Volare. Especially the terrace is stunning: the view is terrific, the pool a huge advantage and the sheer size makes you feel privileged. But also the house overall was very nicely refurbished and in excellent condition.

The location is great with shops and a great pizzeria/restaurant near by. Only drawback: the price for the stunning view are the number of stairs you need to take from the sea... But on the other side, with this the fitness program is covered as well!

Finally, our host Paolo was very kind and extremely helpful, grazie mille!

We booked with you based on your choice of houses. Our experience with you has been pleasant throughout, many thanks!

Great villa, exceptional outside space

August 2020 - Great villa, exceptional outside space perfect to relax and take in the views. Villa is a great size with air conditioning in all bedrooms and living/dining room.

Very close to local shops and handful of lovely restaurants.

A few words to sum up Summer in Italy. Helpful friend and great. I'd like to thank all those at Summer In Italy for making our stay easy and hassle free. Always there if you have a my questions or queries either with the villa, Italy or Amalfi Coast. Would highly recommend.

Travel tips

  • Easy accessible public transport. The local bus runs every hour from Praiano to Positano with a stop outside the local shop, tickets can be brought on the bus.
  • The Sita bus runs every half about 5 mins walk to the stop. This bus runs from Sorrento to Amalfi but you have to buy your ticket prior to getting on the bus.
  • Restaurant Kasai 5 mins from villa is amazing, very good service and food to die for.

September 2019 - We thoroughly enjoyed the property and the total experience.

The bedrooms were very spacious and well furnished, the lounge/dining areas were excellent. The kitchen spacious and well appointed. The outdoor area adjacent to the kitchen is very spacious and well set up for outdoor dining with excellent BBQ. The upstairs terrace covered the entire roof area, equipped with an excellent pool sun lounges and sheltered areas.

The panoramic views from the terrace, lower deck, bedroom balconies and dining room window were superb.

Our host was very obliging and helpful.

The villa was perfect for us

June 2019 - Villa Volare was my extended family’s home away from home for a week.

The villa was perfect for us and I would not hesitate to return or recommend to others. There was plenty of room for all of us and we never felt like we were on top of each other.

The beds were on the firmer side but so comfortable. The bathrooms were very clean and 3 of the 4 were a good size. One shower was pretty small, but that room just showered in the full bath near the kitchen. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed and we cooked many of our meals there.

The outdoor living space was where we spent most of our time. The adults lounged outside the kitchen at the outdoor dining table. The twins and teens spent their time up by the pool.

The Wi-Fi worked only in an area of the villa. Just be aware in case you plan to check on business while you’re on holiday.

Summer In Italy was great. A friend recommended them to us and they proved their worth. They are a well run and organized rental company. We enjoyed doing business with them and hope to do more in the future.

Travel tips

  • Path of the Gods. There is a path that starts in Praiano and connects with the path. It is beautiful but has a tremendous amount of steps. We drank all of our water and had refueled with food before we even connected with the main path. If you are in amazing, Ironman shape, start in Praiano and end in Positano. If you’re in fairly good shape start in Bomerano and end in Positano. If your not in the best shape, start in Bomerano and end in Nocelle. For the record, there are something like 1800 steps from Nocelle down to Positano. This should give you an idea of how challenging it is to get up to the height that the main trail of this hike is located at.
  • Blue Star Positano Boat Tours and Rentals has great boating day trips along the Amalfi Coast and around Capri. Roberto was great and boating with him was a highlight of our trip.
  • Grocery store is close by and has everything.

The views were postcard perfection

September 2018 - We were a group of 3 couples and LOVED Villa Volare. The views were postcard perfection, the villa was ideal for what we needed.

Two of the bedrooms had amazing balconies and the view from the bathroom in each of them, well just wow!!! The third bedroom was massive but no view, but really it's a place to sleep as there are ample spots on the two terraces to relax and enjoy. The villa was well equipped with what you would need for an extended stay and air conditioned too. The pool was clean and well used by all of us.

Travel tips

  • Praiano is a quiet little village not far from the bustling Positano. Public transport is easily accessible from here.
  • Best idea is to download copies of the local and Sita buses timetables.
  • You must be okay with stairs though as it is on a mountainside and it is steps all over.
  • There are grocery shops that cater for all your needs and gorgeous restaurants all around.

We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Villa Volare!

July 2018 - We had a wonderful stay in Villa Volare. It is everything it says in the description. The view from the sun terrace is spectacular and the pool was wonderful when we came back from our daily adventures. The air conditioning was very good and the size of the rooms a nice surprise, they were big! A really great place!! We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Villa Volare!

The location in Praiano is great. It is away from the crowds of Positano but we could use the local bus to get to Positano easily. The local bus will also take you to the One Fire Beach that has wonderful restaurants. The one thing visitors of the Amalfi Coast must remember is there are steps. From the street level to the villa front door there are approximately 62 stairway steps, but it is worth it!!!

The people at Summer In Italy were fantastic. Their prompt responses to emails were great and much appreciated.

Travel tips

  • Tutto per Tutti, the local grocery store, has everything you need.
  • Restaurant La Moressa is very good.
  • Get to know the bus schedule, they did operate on time.

Summers In Italy was great to deal with. Communications were great. Response to questions was almost immediate - definitely within 24 hours. We appreciated all the detailed advance information on the villa and directions to get there. Great job!!

Travel tips

  • Praiano is lovely. For us it was a perfect spot from which to explore the Amalfi Coast. Its location is far better than the overcrowded Positano. The local restaurants are outstanding. One doesn’t need to go far to enjoy wonderful food at reasonable prices.
  • We’d recommend hiring personal guided tours for day trips to Pompeii/ Herculaneum and Capri.
  • From Praiano one can more easily drive to both Amalfi and Ravello.
  • Ravello is a must see.

The perfect location if you are travelling with a large party

September 2017 - Villa Volare is located in Praiano, a small town that is about a 10 minute bus ride from Positano. It is a quieter town than Positano and we felt very safe. This is the perfect location if you are travelling with a large party.

After climbing about 50 steps, you will enter in the Villa Volare. There is a locked gate and another set of about 12 steps that lead to the villa entrance. The first level has a long table and grill area. Inside, there is a large kitchen with plenty of plates, glasses, serving platters, and utensils that you will need. There are 3 very large rooms, each of which contains a double bed and a twin bed. You can easily fit 3 people per room. The bathrooms are large and the shower pressure was wonderful. Two of three bedrooms have a small terrace. There is a spacious dining and living room between the bedrooms. Wi-Fi was readily available. After another 10 steps, you will find a large terrace with a big plunge pool, 8 lounge chairs, and 2 sitting areas to view the large expanse of the Mediterranean sea. It was the perfect place to sit both day and night. There were plenty of lights available as well as candles available should you need that. There is a small lemon grove with a hammock as well. Villa Volare was great for large parties and every convenience was available to us. We look forward to staying here again for our next Amalfi Coast adventure!

We were incredibly happy with the service and the location of the villa. Our hosts were attentive to our every need and were quick to respond to any of our requests. We greatly appreciate Paolo's [the owner] attentiveness and assistance to our every need. He was prompt and met us as soon as we arrived, even after a delayed flight. He helped with getting us and our luggage up to the villa and gave us a tour of the villa. We greatly appreciate the coffee available to us the next morning!

The Summer In Italy group was incredibly responsive to our mirage of questions in a friendly and timely manner. We were very pleased with all of their recommendations.

Travel tips

  • There is a great restaurant about a 2-minute walk from the villa (La Moressa).
  • The supermarket (Tutto per Tutti) is about a 3-minute walk from the villa. The supermarket was well supplied and we were able to get everything we needed, from wine and cheese to paper towels.
  • We loved walking around and looking at the local churches and found the people to be friendly and helpful.
  • It was the perfect location and easily accessible for all of our activities.
  • Paolo was a great tour guide and we really enjoyed our sail along the Amalfi Coast.

The views were stupendous

July 2017 - Because of the elevation the views were stupendous. We spent hours on the terrace enjoying the views and using the pool. The air conditioning worked well when needed. As others have mentioned, Villa Volare requires many stairs to reach. I imagine that is the case frequently on the Amalfi Coast. My family of 9 including 3 young children had no problem though.

The owner was very friendly and helpful.

I would definitely book with Summer In Italy again. Their responses were immediate and helpful. And that relieves a lot of stress when planning an overseas trip. Thank you so much for your help.

Travel tips

  • Having the grocery store nearby was a big plus. Tutto Per Tutti had everything we needed.
  • We loved the Restaurant La Moressa for cappuccinos, gelato and a wonderful dinner on their terrace.
  • We only used the local bus on the last day and I wish we had tried it earlier to return from Marina di Praia Beach which was quite a hike. You can buy tickets on the bus.
  • We preferred La Gavitella Beach (although it is over 400 stairs from the bus stop), there was music and great little restaurants. You need to get there early for a beach chair. Maybe you could reserve them.
  • We hired a boat for one day which was a wonderful experience. We were able to stop in Positano, Amalfi and had lunch in Conca dei Marini. Although the trip was fabulous, I wish we had asked Paolo, the owner who has a boat, and would have been much less expensive.

The terraces and views were out of this world

June 2017 - We loved our stay at Villa Volare. The terraces and views were out of this world. The location was great, being next to Tutto per Tutti grocery store and a pizzeria with wonderful views, gelato, pizza, morning pastries and sweet staff.

The nature of the cliff side towns in this part of the country means a lot of steps to get around, which was fine for the 40 year olds in our group, but challenging for the 70 year olds. We found an "eco taxi" that picked us up and drove us to the marina which was very helpful.

Travel tips

Lovely time

September 2016 - We had a lovely time at Villa Volare. It was centrally located in Praiano, so it was easy to get around the town as long as you don't mind stairs. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals together as a group. The home was very comfortable and the host was responsive and welcoming.

We enjoyed working with Summer In Italy! They made it easy for us to find a lovely home to enjoy our vacation on the Amalfi Coast.

Travel tips

We did enjoy

September 2016 - We did enjoy. Villa Volare was perfect for our party of 8, even with 2 people on the lounge divan. This must have been comfortable bed as no complaints of sore backs.

The two bedrooms with balconies were very nice. The terrace outdoor eating area with a table for about 10 was fantastic. Close to the kitchen but a open area with a BBQ and a view. Many a lunch and dinner was had here, when we were not out. The upper terrace was huge with a small but adequate size clean pool. This had sun loungers and wicker sitting and this was our pre dinner drinks and lazy day location with its great view, sail shade for those that wanted shade. The vines were gorgeous and the grapes were just turning ripe and very sweet.

Our shower had a problem and as Summer In Italy tell you to tell the owner - well we did and it was fixed almost immediately. Wished we told the owner sooner.

How do you feel about Summer In Italy? Fantastic - you were great! :) You answered every question however small. The information you gave us on the town and villa was good and we booked taxis and a boat to Capri through this information. Just wished we read it more and before we arrived. Well done you did a great job!

Travel tips

  • There are steps up to the villa front door and once in there are steps to the upper terrace and pool. But where on the Amalfi coast can you get a place without steps. We decided this kept us in shape and certainly not onerous.
  • Central Praiano is about 15 minutes walk to the right if you are looking out to sea.

Amazing views

August 2016 - Villa Volare was better than expected from the photographs. The terrace was wonderful both day and night with amazing views of the coast line and surrounding area. We had read a few comments about dated bathrooms but we thought they were fine and in keeping with villa. The villa was very clean with a well equipped kitchen.

Communication with the owner on arrival was good and he arrived promptly to help with luggage and to show us around the villa.

The booking and information from Summer In Italy was excellent. Would definitely use Summer In Italy again. All communication was friendly and efficient with all relevant information supplied.

Travel tips

  • The steps to the villa are a bit daunting at first but you do get used to them.
  • The excellent little supermarket is only 5 mins walk away and stocks almost anything you could need at ok prices.
  • If you arrive on a Saturday in August be prepared to pay for parking at EUR 2 per hour up to 10pm and from 8am the following morning. You will need euro coins for the parking. There is free parking but you do have to drive around to find it and it could be some distance from the villa.

July 2015 - Villa Volare is a fantastic place for a stay on the Amalfi Coast.

I would highly recommend a stay at Villa Volare.

June 2015 - Villa Volare is large, clean and comfortable. The pool is very refreshing. We loved our amazing views. There are many steps but I got stronger as the days passed.

The owners were very responsive.

We loved our stay because we wanted to be in a real Italian village. We loved the people in the community and the church bells ringing was so ethereal. It was a vacation that will stay in our hearts for a long time.

Summer In Italy did a wonderful job. They informed and were always polite and attentive. I would use them again.

Travel tips

  • We hired Positanotonitaxi almost every day to travel to other locations. Tell him what you want to see or let him show you some amazing places in the mountains.
  • The grocery store is amazing but go early to get fresh bread and mozzarella.
  • Restaurant La Moressa on the way to the store is very good.
  • You must go to other towns up and down the coast.
  • Marina di Praia Beach has great restaurants and you can get boats there to go to other places.
  • Be prepared for hard mattresses.

August 2014 - Villa Volare and its views were everything and more than what we expected.

The house was very clean, well stocked and absolutely charming in every sense. The views from both large terraces were stupendous!! The pool was a wonderful treat to come home after sightseeing or as an afternoon "hang out" before our dinners. We also picked up and used lemons from the garden every single day for our drinks or meals. We loved it!

We were a party of 8 adults and one baby and this was truly the perfect family vacation, in part because of Villa Volare. Everyone joked that we had the best villa in town! You can't ask for anything better for this price. We will have lasting and fond memories of this special villa in Praiano!

Paolo, the property manager, was terrific and we also went with him on a daily boat tour along the coast. He stopped us for a swim and then dropped us off at Capri. He was our captain and his service and boat were perfect! Thank you Paolo for everything.

Summer In Italy service was excellent! Great communication and very timely. I would not hesitate to use this professional service again and I have already told many people about it. I found the web site on Internet while looking for a vacation rental.

Travel tips

  • Excellent grocery store just down the path - Tutto x Tutti. Has everything you need.
  • Beach is a bit of a trek but that’s Amalfi for you. Anyway it helped us stay in shape and work off our amazing dinners!
  • Visit Amalfi - quaint and easy to get to. Better souvenir and cultural shopping there than Positano in my opinion.
  • Eat at Restaurant Al Canceletto, in Amalfi. Nice owners and great food.
  • A visit to Ravello is a must! Breathtaking!
  • In Ravello eat at the restaurant located when you get off the bus, to the left overlooking the cliff. It is before you go in the archway to Ravello. Fantastic view and excellent food - very reasonable (sorry forgot the name).
  • My 3 adult kids did the "Walk of the Gods". They loved it and said it would be unforgettable.
  • Bring water shoes for the beach. Rocks are hard on feet.
  • A boat trip along the coast is a must - maybe do this to get to Capri.

The terraces and pool were our favorite places there. The air conditioning worked well and the kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed our time there but do think the house needs some work.

Travel tips

  • Local restaurants in Praiano did not disappoint... especially Restaurant La Brace and Vivaro Wine Bar in town and Bar Mare at Marina di Praia.

Travel tips

  • Do not rent a car. It is totally a nuisance since there is no parking.

Fantastic

October 2013 - Villa Volare exceeded our expectations! The hike up to the villa is not the easiest, and can be quite difficult for anyone with health or physical impairments. However, once you make it, the rewards far outweigh the difficulties.

I would recommend this villa to anyone who prefers the experience of a smaller, quieter town, but still have the ability to wine, dine, shop, go to the beach and live among the locals and have more of a small Italian village feel rather than the more touristy cities of Positano and Capri.

Travel tips

  • There is a red three-ring notebook filled with helpful information regarding the area, including bus schedules. I found it on the very last day, on the book shelf in the dining room.
  • There was a cat that conveniently adopted us during our week there. Toward the end of the week, she figured how to get into the villa, thru the open terrace door off bedroom #1. After that, we had to keep the doors and windows closed. That was a little annoying. But we felt sorry for her and hope she is OK.
  • Favorite store: LizArt Ceramiche - best overall experience shopping, drinking espresso with the owner's mother. Beautiful ceramic everything.
  • Wonderful restaurants: Trattoria San Gennaro, Hotel Tramonto d'Oro, La Strada, and a great little place where the locals eat is just up the road from the Hotel Margherita and goes by the name 'Jolly' which is the sign outside! Don't miss it.
  • Be ready for limoncello after every meal.
  • The little market right by the villa has everything.
  • Note the hours of stores and restaurants. They sometimes close for parts of the day.
  • Comfortable shoes are a must.

October 2013 - We had a terrific stay at the Villa Volare and would recommend to other who are staying in the area.

Thanks for your assistance and providing a great stay.

Travel tips

  • Be aware that access to villa is only by stairs and ramps, although only 60 steps.

August 2013 - Villa Volare is an amazing place for a relaxing holiday. We had an amazing time and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

The living quarters have very spacious rooms (all with air conditioning) and anyone wanting to use the internet, there is also free wi-fi.

We spent most of the time on the roof terrace. The terrace is very spacious with a swimming pool, and plenty of sun loungers to chill out on. The views are spectacular and until you have stayed there, it is hard to appreciate how good it is.

The owner, Paolo, was very helpful. He helped us to carry the luggage to the villa and anything we needed, he was on hand. He took the time to show us around and explained everything to us fully. He left us ant killer and did warn us about the problem, which in those parts is normal anyway. So in no way would I put blame on anyone.

We booked through Summer In Italy based on an internet search of villas on the Amalfi Coast, and as soon as we saw Villa Volare we were hooked. The staff at Summer In Italy were extremely helpful and friendly, and leading up to our holiday, any email we wrote to them was answered as soon as possible. We would not hesitate to book through you again.

Travel tips

  • We did find a lot of ants in the villa, but that is normal anyway. Having previously lived in the area, we are aware that ants can be a problem. The owner Paolo did warn us about this and left us some ant killer.
  • It is an ideal location with amazing views, with the local supermarket 'Tutto Per Tutti' nearby, which is a bonus.
  • There is really no need to hire a car if you intend staying in Praiano, and finding a parking space can be very difficult.
  • There are 2 restaurants nearby which are very good if you want to eat out.
  • We booked a day trip to Capri, and the company we booked it through picked us up from near the villa and then dropped us off at the end of the day.

July 2013 - "Best holiday ever" was the opinion of one of my daughters. Absolutely majestic views, beautiful terraces and lots of very relaxed, leisurely lunches and dinners, all al fresco. The multiple outside spaces meant that it was large enough (for our group of 8) that there was personal space when we needed it as well as room to gather.

Nicely located between Positano and Amalfi and less frenetic than either. A great "family and friends" holiday location.

Travel tips

  • All the feedback about needing 'good knees' is absolutely true - you do a lot of walking up and down steps and slopes to get anywhere.
  • We didn't hire a car and didn't need one, but the bus timings can be haphazard and very crowded. We did a lot of walking! And the many walks are truly spectacular and worth the effort.
  • We chartered a crewed motorboat (34') for a day - which was expensive but a fabulous way of seeing the coastline.
  • We found our best meals in Praiano were the self-catered ones and made full use of the barbecue.

July 2013 - We loved every minute of our stay at Villa Volare, especially the upper deck in the evening where we would relax for hours.

The house was well maintained, the lift was wonderful for getting the luggage up the 49 stairs! Dishwasher, AC, washer, dryer, 4 showers, a dipping pool, bbq.

We were very happy with the whole experience. It was one of the easiest trips I have ever had to plan, because everything was done for me! We can't wait to come back! I have already recommended Summer in Italy to friends.

Travel tips

  • We loved One Fire Beach, a quick water taxi ride (have the taxi stand call ahead to reserve your chairs).
  • Many meals shared at Restaurant Il Pirata, you should also reserve chairs.
  • We rented a chartered boat for the day to go to Capri (AMAZING DAY). We had gotten the name of the boat from Il Pirata!

Travel tips

  • Future guests should be aware of the steep steps, however our party consisted of 2 with heart conditions, 2 bad backs, a foot operation and an asthmatic and a couple with a very young baby and we all survived and felt the struggle was well worth the effort!

A caution for some travelers, the roads from Sorrento to Amalfi are very narrow and challenging. The smaller the car and more experienced the driver cannot be over emphasized.

We were very pleased and appreciated your attention to the details of our trip.

Travel tips

May 2013 - Our group of five thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay at Villa Volare during May 2013.

Although we arrived earlier than expected, the owner was there to greet us within minutes, thanks to the kind offer of help from one of the shopkeepers at the wonderful and well stocked nearby Tutto Per Tutti.

The villa is set in a stunning location on the side of the hill, with breathtaking views of the sea and the surrounding beautiful buildings, streets, walkways and steps of Praiano.

This particular villa is large and gracious, and the several terrace levels have not only a pool and a lemon grove, but a variety of seating arrangements (shade and sun) and outside eating area, graced by greenery and flowering plants. The three bedrooms are spacious, as are the living areas, and having four bathrooms suited us well, but we spent most of our waking time on the terraces.

Travel tips

  • While we had a vehicle, the local bus transportation is worth using.
  • Others have commented on the steps and stairways everywhere, which soon become just part of everyday life.
  • The Tutto Per Tutti stocks almost everything anyone might need, including wines from the region.
  • While Praiano is a convenient location from which to explore the Amalfi Coast and visit Positano, Ravello and Amalfi, not to mention Capri, it is beautiful in its own right, and has many cafes and restaurants and points of interest. The Vivaro Wine Bar, Ristorante M'ama, Bar Mare Petit Restaurant, the Bar del Sole, LizArt Ceramics, the beach ... So much to do!

October 2012 - Villa Volare was amazing and let our group of 3 couples capture the flavour of the coast.

It was well equipped, spacious, clean and the setting was breathtaking.

We started out our 2 week adventure on Sept 21 and expected moderate temperatures. What we got for 1 1/2 weeks was 30 degrees plus. The pool on the upper terrace took care of that!

The stairs can be a bit of a challenge but you're on the Amalfi coast not the Canadian prairies.

The local people were all helpful and cheerful.

Keep on doing what you do.The information on your website was exact and complete. Your quick response and helpful tips during our communication period was appreciated and took care of any concerns we had about booking on line, it was the first time I have ever done so. I would recommend Summer in Italy in a heartbeat. Thanks and Ciao, Tom Domenici, Aurora, Ontario

Travel tips

  • Pre-plan. Do some homework so that you are not wasting time looking for restaurants, stores etc.
  • The Tutto per Tutti grocery store, 2 minutes away, has everything you'll need from coffee to wine, beer, cold cuts and toilette paper. They open at 8:30, close from 2-4 and then remain there until 8:30 in the evening. They close Sunday at mid day.

September 2011 - Dear Luca, Our family had a wonderful time at Villa Volare.

The villa was absolutely fabulous! The spacious deck was great and the views were amazing! The lovely flowers and trees were much enjoyed - the bright blue morning glories were especially pretty as were the many herbs, lime and lemon trees, roses and hisbiscus.

The villa had a great kitchen, which was fully equipped. Also, so many beautiful ceramic sceneries on tiles. The deck furniture was most comfortable and the pool refreshening.

We absolutely loved the town of Praiano - very quaint with beautiful views, marinas and restaurants. The town had all of the amenities and we all enjoyed our stay tremendously. Our fond memories will last forever. I am so glad that we ended up with Villa Volare!!

September 2011 - We really enjoyed it. Had been two couples with three girls - so enough space for all of us. Due to the perfect weather we had not even the chance to use the inner rooms.

The owner is a very polite and nice man. Thanks for the prompt meeting, the uncomplicated handover of the keys and the introduction or Villa Volare.

Everything was perfectly organised - the booking, the information, in case of further questions Luca or Andrea had answered within very short time. Fine was the information we've got before we arrived - so no doubt - absolutely good handling and organisation. Thanks again.

Travel tips

  • The market is very close, bus station almost in front of the door (good connection to the neighbouring places).

The view is out of this world, accompanied by your own swimming pool makes the villa perfect.

Thhe villa is in Praiano, but unfortunately the local buses that service pass the villa come by only once every hour and fifteen minutes. If this was every half hour interval then transport into the village centre and Positano would be so much easier. But, dont let this put you off, as this place is magnificent and worth a stay.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared to walk up and down many stairs.

July 2010 - The villa and Praiano are wonderful!

The view is spectacular. The balcony is huge and has a wide variety of comfortable seating options. The canopy was much appreciated during the 35 degree days we had in July.

Praiano is quiet, but there are many beautiful places to walk and hike, and many good restaurants to try. It was easy to take the bus to other more touristy spots, but we always enjoyed coming back home each day. All the stairs in Praiano were challenging in the heat, but we could always come back for a dip in our pool at the end of the day.

It was one of the best vacations we've ever had!

June 2010 - This place was fabulous! We were 9 adults there (from 18 to 57 years old), and all of us were delighted by the villa! The view was amazing, the villa was exactly what we had seen on your web site.

Praiano is a quiet village, and we were glad that we chose not to stay in the more touristy areas of Amalfi Coast.

The owner was very responsive. We went many times to the 'Tutto per Tutti' grocery, and these people were friendly and always smiling. The Amalfi coast itself tops everything I had seen.

I highly recommend this place.

August 2009 - Villa Volare is a lovely, elegant and spacious place with extraordinary views.

It was a perfect choice for our party of 8, lots of room and privacy for everyone. The pool was very popular, especially after a day of visiting. We loved it!

You are doing a great job in advertising the place and informing the guests about everything we need to know. Thank you!

July 2009 - We absolutely had the most fantastic holiday at Villa Volare.

The view was nothing less than sensational and Giovanni [the owner] was extremely helpful and had everything that we could possibly need at the villa.

We had 6 adults and 3 children and the villa and terrace was so spacious that we often felt like we were the only ones in the villa when in fact the house was full. The pool and terrace was a dream spot and we spent most of our time relaxing and taking in the view. The kitchen and outdoor eating area was well used.

We hope to return to Praiano again and if we do we would not stay anywhere else but Villa Volare. Luca was extremely helpful and efficient and l am very pleased with the service from Summer in Italy. Thanks again to Giovanni and Summer in Italy for a very easy booking and smooth holiday. The photos on the website don't do the villa justice.

Travel tips

  • The supermarket is only 5 mins walk, and has absolutely everything.
  • The local beach is a must for the afternoon and would also recommend to hire a boat for the day to tour around the coast. Call Michael at Amalfi Yachting tours for an absolutely memorable day and say that Nicky from Australia said to call!

July 2009 - We really enjoyed our stay in Villa Volare. We were 7 people including 2 small children, who loved the pool. The house was perfect for our needs. The owner was very helpful and gave us good instructions.

The shop a the end of the road had everything we needed for our daily meals and the shopkeeper even offered to carry our bags up the stairs!

We were especially impressed with Luca at Summer In Italy. One night we had to go to a hospital and he was extremely helpful - even in the middle of the night! We were thankful indeed. We will be glad to use Summer in Italy again.

Travel tips

  • In spite of advice from the owner we chose to use our cars every time we left Praiano. It worked fine for us and is was not impossible to park in Amalfi, Ravello and other places.
  • Going to Positano we took a water taxi from Marina di Praia. Quite a treat for our 5 year old grandson!

June 2009 - Villa Volare was everything we thought it would be. The views were spectacular and the location was close to the bus stop and market, but it was still very quiet. It was very modern without loosing any old world charm.

We were a party of 9 friends (all women) and we never felt cramped.

Don't let the steps scare you. Just take it slow and you will be fine. One thing that is not advertised on the site is a lift that takes your luggage up to the villa. This was a very pleasant surprise!

I wish I was still there!!

Summer in Italy was VERY helpful, from the booking process and even helping with translation while at the Villa. How do you improve on something you are doing so perfectly! A very big THANK YOU!

Travel tips

  • Tutto per Tutti lives up to it's name, Everything for Everyone. They also have a nice wine cellar and they deliver!!
  • Get to the bus stops a little early since they often arrive early and they won't wait. We found this out after missing the bus a few times. We always walked down and then took the bus back up. The pedestrian walkways are lovely and you see many things you won't see on the street.
  • We didn't have a "bad" meal in Italy but, we had the best meal of our lives at Hosteria Il Pino. It's a family run restaurant and you feel like your part of the family.
  • Take advantage of the lemons in the lemon grove. We made lemonade every day. It's very good mixed with Prosecco and Limoncello. Also good with a little vodka!
  • We took a full day boat trip along the coast and to Capri and it was well worth the money.

June 2009 - An excellent place when you need many beds. We, a group of ten, had a very good time. Three families (ages from 3 to 70 years) enjoyed a warm week celebrating grandmother's and grandfather's 2 x 70 years.

The swimming pool was excellent, particularly for the children.

The garden with lemons was nice. Just add gin and tonic!

Excellent service. The description of conditions and facilities and what to expect was very good.

Travel tips

  • Do not bring heavy suitcases.
  • Take a walk to the beach.
  • The nearby shop was excellent, everything is provided from vegetables to sausages to excellent wines.
  • Take the bus to Positano and Amalfi.
  • Enjoy the sea from the terrace.

May 2009 - We thought the Villa was absolutely beautiful!

It was extremely clean and comfortable (although the bed mattresses are very firm!). The view from the villa was breathtaking. The 2 terraces and pool were delightful. The small lemon grove was just charming and restful. The place was well appointed.

The caretaker was very welcoming and helpful.

We loved the village of Praiano, and the locals were really friendly.

Well, I thought you all at Summer In Italy were great! I found Summer in Italy just through the net. Your site was the most clear in detail and the contact with someone immediate and efficient. I will certainly hope to use your company again. My thanks to you all for helping us have such a lovely break!

Travel tips

  • The most important thing to point out would be that this is a place for visitors who are fit and happy to walk - ladies, forget heels!
  • The local bus can be used to reach the village, which takes about 15 minutes walk otherwise (up and down hill). It is a magnificent area and absolutely worth the visit.
  • We hired a car and it was an experience to drive the coastal roads.
  • The general information sheets given by "Summerinitaly" are very helpful and accurate. The advice to get supplies from the supermarket before turning off for the road to Praiano was extremely useful.
  • The local shop does provide a lot but you need to get there early to enjoy the lovely fresh produce!
  • The restaurants offer delicious meals and provide stunning evening views of the coastline.
  • The Sita bus is very efficient and can take you anywhere along the coast, you can get tickets from the local newsagents.
  • If you hire a car, be aware that parking is not easy in Praiano (the villa we were in provided a parking place).
  • We had an incredible day visiting Pompeii, and then drove through the Valico di Chiunzi (up and over the mountain!) and down into Amalfi on the coast - really stunning.
  • If you are visiting Naples, try and go to the Archaeological National Museum which holds the treasures found from Pompeii, Herculaneum and the area, it is an incredible collection, and an outstanding museum. We were extremely disappointed and sad to see the problems in Naples as a city and perhaps would not recommend it for a younger family.

April 2009 - We absolutely loved Villa Volare -- the views are wonderful, the inside and outside areas are far beyond adequate.

We spent a lot of time on the patios. We also used the grill on the patio to relax and enjoy our dinner "at home".

It was a relaxing week; wandering down to the beach and some restaurants was very enjoyable.

Everything went very well -- you all were so helpful and professional to work with. I would not hesitate to contact you again for a rental -- thank you!

Travel tips

  • As previous guests have stated, the stairs can be a challenge for those unprepared, but definitely worth the effort.
  • The store at the bottom of the stairs, Tutto per Tutti, had everything we could have possibly needed. They were extremely friendly and helpful.
  • We loved LizArt (a ceramic shop, down more stairs from the grocery), and it's owners were so friendly -- even offering us a caffe one day.
  • Take the bus to Positano or Sorrento -- it's an adventure on those roads, and the walk to the beach area is beautiful (again more steps, so go ahead and have that dessert when you reach a restaurant).

October 2008 - Villa Volare was exactly what we saw in the pictures and description on the website.

We spent as much time as possible on the lovely terrace which provides an unbelievable view.

The villa was clean with modern conveniences, comfortable and quiet.

As mentioned in earlier reviews, 91 steps straight up from the nearest street. Most of the restaurants are a 10 minute walk down numerous steps. It is a challenging walk back up but bus service is available.

We would definitely return to the villa or any others that Summerinitaly markets.

Luca was a tremendous assistance in arranging this wonderful villa and providing much other needed information. We will heartily recommend Summerinitaly to our friends for their travel needs. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • Tutto per Tutti (Everything for Everyone) is a close store for provisions.
  • The Hotel Onda Verde were wonderful for making arrangements for tours (Capri, Pompeii, etc.) and have a great restaurant.

September 2008 - We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at Villa Volare! The views, pool, and terrace made the entire visit spectacular.

The kitchen is big and fairly appointed, and we managed to make some incredible meals and set a beautiful table in the dining room with an incredible view.

The location is quiet, and the local grocery store was very convenient. And the location is perfect for day trips to Sorrento, Positano, Ravello, Amalfi, and Pompeii.

We would definitely book Villa Volare again!

Keep the property in your portfolio. It was great. Also, I spoke to Luca one night when we needed help and he was wonderful! Keep him too! :-)

Travel tips

  • The stairs are a bit long and steep. They are manageable, but be patient and steady.
  • We rented a driver every other day so we didn't have to rent a car and deal with the narrow roads and lack of parking. The days we were out, we cooked in. The days we were in we went out for dinner. Highly recommend this approach!

August 2008 - Beautiful villa. Grand terrace with dipping pool and amazing views day and night. Plenty of square footage to accommodate three families.

Villa Volare was immaculate indoors and outdoors.

Loved the lime and pomegranate trees that lined the stairs.

Picturesque from every angle.

I feel I would use Summer In Italy again for its great communication. The website is easily navigated. I found each any every statement made by Summer In Italy to be honest and true.

Travel tips

  • Stairs are a part of life in Praiano. Anywhere you want to go be prepared with water and don't worry about taking a rest - everyone does.
  • Tutto per Tutti - small shop for fresh produce and many other necessities down the hill.
  • Boat ride to Capri - a fantasy come true -- intoxicating.

August 2008 - We had an amazing honeymoon at the villa - the setting was beautiful and we spent most of our time on the very very large roof terrace.

The accommodation was of a good standard even though as there was only the two of us we did not make full use of all the space and facilities.

All the fixtures and fittings were of a high standard. The showers were not brilliant but worked fine.

The landlord was very helpful, even when there were problems with the electric.

We appreciated the privacy the 70+ steps gave the villa but it would have been nice to not have had them sometimes. The villa was in a very good position but we had expected more restaurants within easy walking distance - however as it was August we had not intended to go very far so this was not a problem for us.

The villa would be perfect for two or three couples or a family with older children - but if you are intending to explore then you do have to be fit. We would go again without question.

Travel tips

  • It's well worth the walk down to the beach from the villa but we took a water taxi from there to Positano and then the bus back so it made a really good day out.
  • Make sure you understand how the buses work to take full advantage of travelling around. Its easy to take the bus into Amalfi but a taxi back was 40 euros if you want to stay after 9 pm.
  • Great little shop at bottom of steps - we cooked most of our own food as everything was so fresh and they were very helpful even though we spoke no Italian.

July 2008 - Villa Volare's view is amazing.

The people in the town were very hospitable! They love Americans especially the local supermarket Tutti per Tutti. They had the best mozzarella and prosciutto ever!

Summer in Italy is a great website and will use them again in the future. Luca was great and answered all my questions prior to leaving New York.

Travel tips

  • My advice for future guests is if you are traveling to the villa in the summer months the most important things to bring are tons of "after bite" because the mosquitoes were a bit much at night and bring your own pillows if you can.
  • If you have a bad back bring an aero bed from the U.S. because the beds were kind of flat and by the end of the week your back will be killing you.
  • Most importantly do not bring oversized luggage because there are two hills and 90 steps to bring them up. The owner helps you but Americans are not used to all those steps and you just might have a heart attack when carrying all your heavy luggage up those stairs. lololol
  • You don't need a lot of clothes in Praiano because it is very casual in the restaurants at night and during the day all you need is a bathing suit for the pool. By the way, around the pool are ants and they only show up when you go in. lolol They don't bother you though.
  • Take the local bus to the beach which is near by and don't walk all over like we did because you'll sweat like crazy. The stop is right down the hill and your best bet is to buy the tickets for the local bus and the Sita bus from the local supermarket Tutti per Tutti. It's cheaper for you.
  • Sita bus takes you to Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello, Positano and Naples.
  • The Sita bus drivers drive like maniacs on those mountains so if u get car sick take a dramamine.
  • Ravello is beautiful a definite must see but do everything after 4 or 5 o'clock when all the tourists are gone because you'll enjoy these areas so much more.
  • Also, always bargain with the people in the stores, never settle for the price they give you. lolol
  • Have a great time at Villa Volare and take in all my recommendations.

June 2008 - We enjoyed our stay very much. Overall it was very good, with excellent facilities.

The service, advice and help from Summer in Italy was excellent and I would strongly recommend your site to friends. I think it should be stated that the location of Villa Volare may not be suitable for old or infirm guests.

Travel tips

  • The local shop is "Tutto per Tutti", however the journey back to Villa Volare from the shop is all uphill, so our advice is buy little & often.
  • There are several good restaurants such as at Casa Angelina, Restaurant Il Pino & others.
  • Taxis are expensive but driving can be dangerous.

May 2008 - What a stunning position, sitting on the terrace was like being on a boat, nothing to obscure your view looking out to sea. The terrace is superb, lots of space, a beautiful shaded seating area and the fantastic dipping pool.

Outside the kitchen the shaded dining area and barbecue is also lovely and was well used.

The villa was very comfortable, well furnished and equipped. The access is tricky, lots of steep steps from the road, we counted into the 90's. This made it difficult because everything from luggage to provisions has to be carried up. The elderly or infirm would struggle. Overall a beautiful villa in an excellent location.

This was a fantastic holiday and I would definitely book with you again.

Travel tips

  • There are 2 grocery stores and a pharmacy on the nearest road.
  • We particularly liked La Praia, where we ate at Il Pirata and swam in the sea (the road goes down to the beach).
  • You can also hire a water taxi from here to Capri (30 mins) and it is only slightly more expensive than the ferry from Sorrento (30 mins in car and another 30 mins on boat).
  • La Strada and Trattoria San Gennaro in Praiano have stunning terraces to dine out on overlooking Positano.

April 2008 - The Villa Volare was just as it was represented on your website.

We were looking for place that was large enough for 4 single people to have their own individual space and Villa Volare provided this.

We truly enjoyed our stay there.

Travel tips

  • As with every town along the Amalfi coast, be prepared for many hills and steep steps. If you're not physically fit you probably should not visit Amalfi coast.
  • The market will have everything you need from fresh vegetables & fruits and a great selection of wine in the lower level. we visited in April and the strawberries, eggplant, and artichokes were better than any in the states. We cooked all our dinners at the villa and only ate lunches out while on day trips to explore the coast.
  • If you like shopping, Positano and Amalfi are a short bus ride away. Buses are crowded and you may have to stand. You can get tickets at the market.
  • After a week in Roma, the villa a great place to spend a couple of days just relaxing.
  • If you're coming from the north, avoid the hassle of public transportation and book a car from the Naples. Prices vary so don't take the first price of the first service.
  • Above all PACK LIGHT. That heavy bag is much heavier going up hill. If you can't fit what your need for 2 weeks in a 19-21" bag, you don't need it. The villa has a washing machine and plenty of space to hang you clothes out to dry in the ocean breeze... oh, how I wish I were still there.

September 2007 - We loved Villa Volare. The property manager was very attentive to our needs and very helpful when we arrived.

The rooftop terrace had commanding views and a great dipping pool - we spent a lot of time here. The kitchen was perfectly adequate for our needs, as was the living room.

The villa was exactly as advertised - the description on the website was true to its word. The only challenge was in getting our stuff up to it - there were quite a few stairs from the public parking to the villa.

I think your website and service are great. I would book with you again.

I imagine some might be upset when they realize the number of stairs up and down to some of your villas (like Giampa). I was perfectly fine with it, but many Americans aren't used to such hard work.

Thanks for the heads-up about the steps! We do include a count of the steps needed to reach each villa, as we realize that not everyone might be able to handle it. A word to our prospective guests: if you are about to rent a villa and are not sure about how accessible it is, please do ask! We have personally inspected each and every villa and know exactly what it takes to get there.
