Trattoria da Sergio alle Grotte
A no-nonsense place where there is always a line outside waiting for the down-home food that is served within. This busy restaurant is crammed with tables that fill with boisterous Romans and stray tourists alike, who enjoy the honest Roman food. A sign proclaims Sergio to be the "prince of the amatriciana" which tells you what to order - the spaghetti all'amatriciana, a regional specialty of tomato sauce flavored with bacon. If you don't want red sauce, go for the carbonara, another Roman classic.
Grilled meats and various vegetable dishes are available, and fresh seafood is served is on Tuesdays and Fridays. Trattoria da Sergio alle Grotte is located near Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona on a tiny side street.
