The pictures online do not do it justice! The views are amazing

October 2023 - The pictures online do not do it justice! The views are amazing. The home has everything you need and then some. It was perfect. Even has private parking which is rare on the Amalfi Coast.

Gianluca, our host was amazing! He helped us with local secrets of where to go and where to eat. He helped with transfers and was an all around amazing host. Goes above and beyond!

We will be sending a few friends here and we will return to stay. It really was perfect.

Summer In Italy was easy to book with. No issues. They were very responsive.

Travel tips

  • Gianluca will give you all of the inside info on the area and what to do.
  • I would recommend if you are going to do a day tour or day boat trip, do that day 1 or 2 of your stay as you will get a lot of information on things to do, where to go and where to eat.

Perfect from beginning to the end!

September 2023 - Ahhh Villino Blu, was perfect from beginning to the end. Well the end was sad, because we were not ready to leave this paradise! Villino Blu terraces and views are spectacular, even in rainy weather. There is a spot for every time of day and weather to enjoy outside. The kitchen is fully stocked with every appliance you can think of, the bathrooms are spacious and the water pressure is divine! The access to villa is a few easy steps and your own private parking (very rare)! A short walk to markets and restaurants, bus stop, and most especially the beach!

Gianluca our host was truly the most professional, informative, friendliest and most generous of any host I have stayed with. Gianluca stays in communication with you always if you need advice or to offer excursions! I highly suggest you do this for one day, we had the most special day touring Amalfi and the coast with him for a day, truly unforgettable! Keep doing what your doing Gianluca! Perfetto! 👏❤️ Cannot wait to return to Villino Blu!

This was my first time in 6 years to the Amalfi Coast I booked with Summer In Italy, the service that Luca, Klint and team provide is Platinum! I will never forget the day my phone rang while I was working, it was Luca calling after I sent an email inquiring about renting Villino Blu. I was happily surprised that I had a call, not an email. From that moment on Luca and Klint helped me plan the most amazing two week vacation in Italy for me and my children. We made amazing memories and I cannot wait to be in touch for next years exciting adventures in Italy! Thank you for everything Summer In Italy, sending big hugs from Canada to Italia! 🇨🇦❤️🇮🇹

We would highly recommend this location to anyone.

Best views in the best town

May 2023 - Villino Blu is amazing. Best views in the best town on the Amalfi Coast.

Incredible outdoor space with the two terraces, both of which are huge. Kitchen is super well-equipped, bedroom is incredible, well situated and large. Having two beautiful bathrooms is a luxury. If one had to look far and wide for the slightest thing to complain about, it would be the terraces are so big and accommodating, the view from inside is limited. But who wants to be inside when on the Amalfi Coast??!!

Absolutely nothing can be done to improve the terrific service and attention we received from Summer in Italy. From communication, to flexibility to information, Summer in Italy was fantastic.

Travel tips

  • Tutto per Tutti, the local market is amazing and has everything one would need to supply the pantry. Prices are very reasonable too. In America, at such a destination the market prices would be inflated but not here.
  • La Moressa is terrific for dinner.
  • Just up the street by the market is a place for coffee and pastries in the morning that is terrific and much better than Gym Tonic.
  • Praiano harbor has a boat rental where you can rent your own boat. Highly recommend. Can go wherever you want, see whatever you want, and if you want to go ashore in Positano, there are people there who will tie up your boat and transport you in.

Outstanding view and a fantastic location

August 2022 - I would recommend everyone to stay at Villino Blu if they are going to visit the Amalfi Coast. An absolutely outstanding view and a fantastic location, close to the supermarket and restaurants.

Luca at Summer In Italy was absolutely fantastic and answered all concern and questions, a really good host.

Would definitely return. Everything was great.

Travel tips

  • There is a parking space if you come here by car. However, we didn't have a car and it went well, just 5 min walk from us we had a bus stop that could take us to Positano, Amalfi and Fiordo di Furore.

Consider renting this property and you will not be disappointed... This villa is perfect!

July 2022 - We travel often (parents and two teenage children) and would rather stay in private homes or apartments. This is lengthy but I feel it needs to be...

I will start by saying we have never had such a GREAT experience with a home owner. We had some issues getting to Italy (not at fault of the home owner) but immediately upon our arrival from the United States, we were contacted by Gianluca (20 year old son of the home owners Maurizio and Alessandra and fluent in English). Gianluca helped resolve many issues we had with transportation (even though he did not have to) and went out of his way to make this one of the best trips we have had to Europe. Maurizio even spoke to our taxi driver on the phone for several minutes because of translation issues when we first arrived in Italy and we would NOT have been able to initially get to the property without the HELP of Maurizio.

Our teenage son got sick during our stay and Gianluca even helped get us medicine in the small town of Praiano, helped arrange places to eat, tours, taxis, etc throughout the Amalfi Coast and communicated with us daily. He even got us adapters for our cell phone charges because we forgot ours in the USA. Because of Gianluca, our trip will be one to remember despite the few days our son was sick and we cannot THANK him enough.

This property is exactly as pictured and we WILL return in the future. The homeowners live downstairs but you would never know unless you ask them for something. I would HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone travelling to the Amalfi Coast but make sure you can walk because the beach, restaurants, etc all require steep hills and steps. The property has only a few stairs but to get anywhere you must be able to walk many stairs. This was not an issue with anyone in our party (we actually like walking and experiencing the town) but you should be aware.

Consider renting this property and you will not be disappointed... This villa is perfect and we will stay here again.

Good experience with Summer In Italy and no issues.

Travel tips

  • The somewhat private beach close to the property is worth the walk and we went there everyday. This is one of the nicest beaches we have been with our teenage children.
  • There is a small cafe near the property and a few restaurants and convenience stores. You will not be disappointed with any of them.
  • The bus stop is right down the street but during the summer months this can get very crowded.
  • Consider working with Gianluca upon your arrival if you want to plan any day trips as he has many suggestions and contacts in the area. We waited to long and they were all sold out (not his fault but rather ours for waiting).
  • I suggest renting a private boat for the day with a captain to really see the coast and the towns.

The views were wonderful and the villa itself was perfect for our family

June 2022 - We enjoyed staying at Villino Blu! The views were wonderful and the villa itself was perfect for our family of four.

We were greeted by the owner the day of and stayed in contact about various questions we had throughout our 6 night stay.

I would highly recommend staying here!

Travel tips

  • There is a grocery walking distant from the house. The internal bus stop is close by as well.
  • There’s an internal bus that takes you between Praiano and Positano that was ideal for us to get around too.
  • To get to the beach within Praiano is a little distance. We decided to take the bus to Amalfi for this experience.

Incredible week, everything was simply perfect and above my expectations

June 2022 - Sincerely, we had an incredible week at Villino Blu. To begin with, staying in Praiano is ideal to visit the Amalfi Coast as it is not only central but also the less touristy of the lot villages of the area.

As for the property, it offers an incredible view with two terraces (with mobile screens to alleviate exposure when necessary) and a practical and beautiful architecture on two levels, as well as a parking spot just above the apartment which is a rare gem for the Coast. In addition, the owners have thought of everything to ease your stay from a very well furnished kitchen with a dishwasher, a washing machine, a very efficient air conditioning setup individually configurable in rooms to beach carpets and umbrella.

And last but not the least, Gianluca, who greeted us, truly went out of his way to help us and ensure we had the most pleasant stay. This deserves a particular mention as it really enhanced our experience. Can’t think of any improvements, really… Do keep offering your wonderful hospitality in your incredible apartment!

Overall, I highly recommend Villino Blu and will not even consider other options on future trips to the Amalfi Coast since everything was simply perfect and above my expectations.

Availability of interesting apartments is what motivated my choosing of Summer In Italy. Everything went very smoothly and I received prompt feedback and confirmation as I needed.

Travel tips

  • The most profitable advice I could give is regarding transportation within Praiano, including access to the beach. Use the local bus service (not talking about the inter-village buses which can be crowded but nevertheless useful if you do not want the challenges of driving and parking on the coast when you visit other villages). There is a bus stop at the town hall very close by which will take you anywhere within Praiano for 1 euro if you buy your tickets in advance. This gives you easy access to the beach and all restaurants and shops within the village and is not crowded. It’s the perfect means of transportation when you want to visit and enjoy Praiano.
  • There are two convenience stores within walking distance as well as restaurants.
  • The Marina di Praia Beach is easily accessible through public transport.
  • I would definitely recommend a boat trip either along the Amalfi Coast or up to Capri as it offers you the nicest views of the villages, grottoes and colours of the Mediterranean Sea.

We can't recommend this villa highly enough. It's a real gem!

June 2022 - We loved our stay at Villino Blu. The location is spectacular and we loved being based in Praiano. The house is very comfortable and well-appointed. The outdoor space is outstanding - we never got tired of looking at the incredible view! Another plus is being able to walk to the market and to restaurants.

One of the real highlights of our stay was meeting Gianluca, who was the most gracious host we could have asked for. He helped us book transportation and a wonderful boat outing and was super responsive to any question or need.

We can't recommend this villa highly enough. It's a real gem! We appreciated how much was supplied in the kitchen and bathrooms. We also appreciated all the information supplied about how to deal with garbage, etc. And advice on restaurants and outings. So helpful!

It was a great experience.

Travel tips

  • We did not rent a car, but did end up renting scooters for a few days, which was really fun.
  • Parking is a challenge around the coast and the road is very narrow. Scooters were definitely the way to see the coast.
  • Our favorite outing was a boat trip along the coast. Seeing the towns from the water and exploring caves and swimming was a real treat.
  • We also loved exploring Positano and Ravello.

Travel tips

  • If you can afford it, hiring a car service to get you to and from a major centre (Sorrento or Naples) saves a lot of hassles and stairs & steep roads with your luggage.

Exceptional property, sunny and spacious terraces, amazing views

October 2019 - Villino Blu is an exceptional property on the Amalfi Coast. Its terraces are sunny and spacious and both have powered canopies if the sun becomes too much. Needless to stay that the views are amazing.

We cooked in a lot and would eat out on the terrace which has a beautiful table and chairs right off the kitchen. One of the best things about this house is that unlike most of the places on the Amalfi Coast, it is only one flight of stairs from the road. And IT HAS A PARKING SPACE!!! It's a little tight and it sits directly over the kitchen, but it has one.

The Praiano bus and the Praiano/Positano bus are just a short walk up the road and the coastal Sita bus stop, that will get you to Amalfi and Sorrento is just a short walk down the road. The market, Tutto per Tutti (Everything for Everyone) is less than a ten minute walk and literally has everything you could need.

This house is beautiful and we'd go back there in a minute. Highly recommended.

The owners were fantastic!! They live just below and were very quiet. Their 17 year old son, Gianluca was our point man. He is a fantastic young man and a pleasure to work with.

The outdoor space was the plus for the stay

August 2019 - Enjoyed the stay. The outdoor space was the plus for the stay - the indoor space was sufficient overall - and having laundry facilities was key to us. This was a very good place to stay. We appreciated the amenities and cleanliness.

We liked the location - overall - as it was equidistant between Marina di Praia Beach and the center of town.

The hosts / owners - were great.

Summer In Italy did a great job. You communicated well. Your options for information - like your newsletter and Facebook presence - were good resources.

Travel tips

  • There are two different bus lines and transportation options with different stops in town for pickup and drop-off. Definitely master the differences if you wish to travel locally by bus.
  • The restaurant Kasai provided a great dining experience and folks should consider it.
  • Keep an open mind on varying boating options from the Marina di Praia Beach. A trip up and down the coast to Amalfi on Praia Sea Service La Sibilla tours is a good option, and a trip to Capri is fun if you enjoy being out on the water.

Amazing views in a wonderfully quiet location

July 2019 - We loved our stay at this cozy villa in Praiano. The views from the terraces were amazing and we spent much of our time relaxing outside taking in the beauty of the coast.

The location was convenient with a grocery store close by and a number of restaurants within walking distance. The villa itself was perfect for our family of 4 and was more beautiful than the pictures.

We were very glad that we chose Praiano to stay in as it was less crowded than some of the other towns and was a great place to unwind.

I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Vacation in Paradise

July 2019 - The views from the two patios of this home are simply stunning. The home was perfect for our family of four.

The manager met us in town, then led us up to the home.

Driving is crazy along the Amalfi Coast, so we were happy to have a parking spot right at the entrance to the house.

Be prepared to do a lot of walking in Praiano, but fortunately the house is walking distance to a local bus stop and grocery store.

We chose to walk to the beach daily, which was challenging, but doable. Many restaurants offer a shuttle service and will pick you up at the home, making the location very convenient.

The house was clean and very well stocked. Beds were comfortable. The showers were small, but the water pressure was fantastic. Would definitely recommend this home.

Lovely place, good location

June 2019 - This is a lovely place, good location and well stocked. There is parking for one small car and the outdoor terraces and gardens are amazing. Bed was reasonably comfortable. AC works well, which is important as it is very hot in the summer months.

The owners live below and are very responsive to any problems or concerns. They were great, very helpful but allowed us our privacy.

The communication and service were great, would not hesitate to use Summer In Italy again or recommend.

Travel tips

  • Praiano is more laid back than its neighbors and has fewer shops ad restaurants.
  • Villino Blu has 3-4 great restaurants within walking distance and a wonderful neighborhood grocery store.
  • Much to see and do close by if you are able to navigate the slopes and steps.
  • Local and regional bus service is convenient but the schedules are hard to decipher.

We had a fabulous stay at Villino Blu!

June 2019 - We had a fabulous stay at Villino Blu! The house was pretty much perfect - other than the living room being part of the kitchen (not much to speak of) - the house met our needs.

The weather wasn't terrific the first few days, so we couldn't utilize our terraces (which overlooked the beautiful coast), but when we had the opportunity, we took it.

We used our car a lot because we traveled around the coast, but Praiano is the best little fishing village on the coast. Much less populated than places like Positano - and most things are in walking distance (or it was recommended to take the bus - although we never did). We were able to get a few things for breakfast including espresso (at a local little general store less than a mile away).

The owner (Maurizio) and the building manager (Adele) were both wonderful and accommodating. Adele met us when we arrived (by rental car) - and was extremely prompt (we called Maurizio an hour before our arrival as instructed). We were late getting in due to issues with our arrival (flight issues/delays), and they were wonderful and very helpful. Adele took us up to and through the house and got us acclimated.

Fabulous organization. Great follow up - would use Summer In Italy again! Much appreciate your details and all the suggestions. Thank you!

Travel tips

  • Bring between 500-1000 euro with you - then get your money from ATM machines, but read the fine print - some of these machines charge huge fees!
  • Pay attention to the recycling schedule and honor it.
  • If you are driving, be sure to leave early in the morning or late in the day/evening - because you WILL hit lots of traffic on the coast drive. We had a rental car and followed the time to travel advice - it served us well.
  • If you are driving - be cautious and learn to drive quickly... And be mindful of the LARGE buses that cause traffic jams and the scooters that wiz by, and in front of everyone, constantly. If I lived there, I would own a scooter!
  • Stop in a local gas station where they serve coffee and drink an espresso with the locals - they don't have take out cups!
  • Stop on the side of the road at a fruit stand and barter for some juicy lemons/oranges/cherries or cantaloupe!
  • A few places to eat in Praiano... Restaurant Il Pirata -- some of the best views of the Mediterranean! Great food too (but not many locals eat here). It's by the Marina di Praia Beach. We had our last meal at Hosteria Il Pino -- fabulous food and wine and overlooks the most beautiful view... The sunset and Capri in the distance. Amazing. Looks like a great hotel, right in the center of Praiano. There were several other great places (I didn't write the names down) - but you can always find a great place serving pizza and local wines. Always ask for the local wines!
  • Go to the local limoncello factory in Praiano - it's downtown - you can get a free tour and samplings - and there is a lovely variety of spirits (their lemon cream and their pistacchio cream liquors are to die for... And they ship! I shipped a few things home)!
  • Go to Pompeii and Herculaneum but hire a local tour guide. We got to Pompeii early (it was a bit rainy so it wasn't crazy busy in the morning). We spend a couple hours here and then followed our guide to Herculaneum - another Roman town destroyed by Mount Vesuvius (volcano). Herculaneum was my favorite - it's smaller and better preserved. Go! Don't miss the opportunity to see these places... But go in the morning or off season when it isn't crazy busy - and bring water. You will walk a lot and if it's hot, you'll need it.
  • If you have an opportunity to go to downtown Pompei - have lunch or dinner at Restaurant Mercato Pompeiano - wonderful wine and tuna - best tuna of the trip! There are a few gelato places nearby - we stopped at Gelateria Artigianale - yummy! There is a local square - we went in the beautiful church and took in the sights - even listened to a bit of the service.
  • GO TO RAVELLO and see the Villa Rufolo which is a building within the historic center which overlooks the front of the cathedral square. The initial layout dates from the 13th century, with extensive remodeling in the 19th century. Climb to the top (it cost about 5 euro per person) and then stroll the beautiful gardens. I LOVED Ravello - it's the perfect little village - and the acoustics are such that many musicians have performed here (look up the music festival - I am certainly going to and will come back to this magical place). And get a beautiful hat from the boutique on the corner... I didn't get their card (sigh). The getting there was like climbing a jagged hillside... no, it was climbing a jagged hillside!
  • We also traveled to a farm in a Napoli village - and cooked! One of the highlights of the trip.
  • Eat with the locals!
  • We also had lunch at Restaurant Torre Normanna in Maiori - it's a castle! Go if you can. Views are fabulous - and ask for Daniela - the food... Yes, the food. Have seafood! It's all worth it.
  • Walk out to the watchtower in Praiano - be sure it's open, and you can visit the tower and see the artist in action - his things are on display here (Paolo Sandulli) - they are whimsy and fun - but don't plan to purchase anything unless you can carry it home - things are fragile but so unique!
  • Go on a boat tour of Capri. We did go to the island (had a few hours there) and spent time in Anacapri (the best place to be on the island) - and we went up the single chair lift to the highest point of the island - that was perfect... But I found Capri to be very busy (lots of tour groups and high end shopping). There are 30K people on the island in the summer months (high season) - not my favorite place to be but the boat tour was fabulous. The Blue Grotto wasn't open, but we did get to enter the Green Grotto, and the signature sight of Capri is the three rocky "stacks" called I Faraglioni. The three rock outcroppings peeking up from the sea create one of the most recognizable and captivating landscapes in the world. A highlight of the trip to the Amalfi Coast!
  • We spent the evening in Sorrento - lots of cobblestone streets and shopping and food. We bought some leather goods, an espresso maker (the little ones that you load with grounds and cook on the stove) - and we ate at a nice place called Restaurant Fuoro it was lovely and exactly what we needed after a long day.
  • We spent a few hours in Positano - again, very busy with lots of stores and tourists, but I did manage to have a custom pair of sandals made, bought some wonderful espresso cups and we had a fabulous dinner overlooking quintessential Positano (the houses built into the mountain overlooking the Mediterranean Sea - by moonlight). Fabulous (and I have lemon risotto with shrimp for dinner... With LOCAL wine!). Oh... And I got my pair of Italian sunglasses in Positano too!
  • Marina di Praia - my favorite spot - the beach! Be sure to bring towels with you - and get a chair early (I can only imagine how quickly the beach fills up in the busy months - 8 euro/chair). There are wonderful seaside restaurants on the beach - you can't go wrong and try the local cuisine - the stuffed peppers are wonderful... And have seafood - seafood salads are super delicious!
  • Be cautious of the jellyfish in the water - there were many hanging around.: If we had had more time, we would have rented a boat for a few hours to explore the coves.
  • Ok - I think this gives you a good idea of how things went for us. It was a fabulous trip. I will go back... And I will stay in Praiano again, on the beach...! They do recycling right in Italy, that's for sure.

Had a wonderful week

May 2019 - We had a wonderful week at Villino Blu in Praiano. The house is comfortable and well equipped. The terraces are large and the view is outstanding.

The location is good, just a few minutes walk to a good grocery shop, cafe, restaurants and 15 minutes on footpaths and small roads to the main part of town on the coast road (cafe, restaurants, more shops, church).

We received good advice from Summer In Italy and were happy with our choice of this rental.

Travel tips

  • We enjoyed the hiking from Praiano. There are three trails that take you up the mountain to the Path of the Gods. The western most trail, that goes by San Domenico, is very steep on the last part. The other two trails are easier.
  • Once on the Path of the Gods you can walk to Bomerano and take the bus back, or walk to Nocelle or Positano and take the bus back, or walk back down another trail to Praiano.
  • We loved the trail from Praiano to the Grotte di Santa Barbara below Bomerano.

It was wonderful

September 2018 - It was wonderful. The views were spectacular and it was good value for money. Overall the house was fantastic. The second bedroom was a little small but had the advantage of a door to the terrace.

I cannot fault Summer In Italy. Your responses were immediate and your information was clear. I would definitely book with you again.

Travel tips

  • We liked Praiano the best of the places we saw on the Amalfi Coast. Everywhere else was so busy.
  • The day tip to Capri on the boat was fab -- we booked with a company at Marina di Praia Beach. There were only 8 of us on board and at 80 euro each for the day, it was good value.
  • The views in Capri were incredible but the crowds immense. Be prepared for hundreds of steps or expensive taxis if you don't want to wait 1.5 hours for the funicular.
  • Also we did the Path of the Gods walk which was wonderful. Go from Agerola to Positano (take Amalfi mobility bus which is direct) and wear hiking boots. If you have a fear of heights don't go!

July 2018 - We had an amazing stay in Villino Blu. The house was very clean and well equipped. The views from the house are absolutely stunning, a real pleasure to sit on the terrace admiring the views. We would highly recommend this house.

The owners (who live below) were very friendly and helpful.

Great service from Summer In Italy, thank you!

Travel tips

  • The local supermarket is extremely well stocked and very friendly.
  • There are a number of excellent restaurants in Praiano.
  • There are plenty of local and coastal buses close by that makes it easy to get to Amalfi, Ravello and Positano.
  • The two local beaches are a short 10-15 minute walk away.

Really enjoyed our stay

June 2018 - We stayed at this lovely house and really enjoyed our stay. The views from the house are beautiful - two terraces to take advantage of these amazing views. The house is very clean and well maintained. The lounge area is a little small, but with the two terraces it was not a problem. We did cook at the house, and found the kitchen amenities well provided. We had stayed 3 days in Amalfi, but found Praiano to be far more relaxing and much quieter - the local community are very welcoming (the house a is on a hardly used road). If you are looking for a more relaxing stay on the beautiful Amalfi Coast, you will not regret booking Villino Blu.

The owners are available but not intrusive.

Very efficient and pleasant to book through Summer In Italy - no problems. Very happy to recommend your services. Thank you!

Travel tips

  • Two supermarkets and restaurants about 100 meters from the villa - easy walk.
  • Some restaurants in Praiano have shuttle service.

Great views, very comfortable

May 2018 - Great views, very comfortable. A good place to stay on the Amalfi Coast if you want a less crowded location but still easy access by bus to Positano and Amalfi. The local bus is also very good, bus stop about about 200 meters away. No steps only the 10 or so from street to house. Fantastic terraces and views.

Summer In Italy were excellent to deal with.

Travel tips

  • Good restaurants in Praiano, Restaurant La Strada and Restaurant La Moressa on the terrace with fantastic views of coast just above the grocery store.

We enjoyed our stay!

April 2018 - We enjoyed our stay! Villino Blu is very clean. Good location, 8 km from Amalfi and 6 km from Positano. It is close to the bus stop. The property is as advertised.

The owners live in a home downstairs and they were very responsive. The info packet the owners prepared was helpful.

The experience with Summer In Italy was excellent. Service and info were great. They found a few options for me quickly using the on-line chat. I would definitely recommend them.

Travel tips

  • We took a cooking lesson from Sergio (in his own home), recommended by the tourist bureau in Praiano. It was a great experience.
  • Praiano is a small town, very quiet and authentic so you are out of the hustle and bustle.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

July 2017 - We spent a week at Villino Blu during early July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location of the house was perfect and the views from all angles were stunning - watching the boats come and go. We had the perfect mix of being able to sightsee (Positano/Pompeii) and sunbathe and relax on the beautiful outdoor terrace. All the neighbours and locals working in Praiano were lovely engaging people and made us feel welcome. We would definitely return.

Summer In Italy were fantastic. The whole process of booking the property, replying to emails very quickly and providing me with very useful information, made our trip stress free and most enjoyable. We would definitely book through Summer In Italy in the future.

Travel tips

  • The roads are very tricky and slow moving so be prepared for that if hiring a car.
  • There are plenty of buses but do get busy.
  • There are a lot of restaurants walking distance from the house - we recommend Restaurant Il Pirata and all the other restaurants down by the Marina di Praia Beach. You can also organise boat trips from there.
  • A 10 minute bus ride to Positano, is a great place to visit but be organised with your bus tickets as not easy to purchase - we were able to buy them from a man selling them whilst waiting at the bus stop but it does goes very busy.
  • A trip out to Pompeii is a must.
  • If you enjoy sunbathing, please note that the sun does go in from the house from 5.15 pm in July, as it goes behind the mountain.

Very good house, good location and very good hosts

July 2017 - Villino Blu is a very good house, good location and very good hosts. I have stayed in Praiano previously and found the location of Villino Blu easier to access as it is basically a walk up a road from the bus stop of about 200 meters. The previous place I stayed at was higher up with a lot of stairs to access it. The view is excellent with two terraces to relax on. The house has two bathrooms, the one on the lower level has more room in the shower but how good is it to have two of them.

Really loved our time here. Everything provided for your stay, even washing detergent for the washing machine was there which of course we replaced as we used it. Plenty of condiments in the cupboards if you cook your own meals.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in this area.

Lots of communication from Summer In Italy with advise for the area. Excellent company and very trust worthy.

Travel tips

  • A general store is close up the road, there are two but the one at the top of the street is the good one.
  • The bus stop to Positano or Amalfi and Ravello is close. It is worth catching the bus to Amalfi and Ravello.
  • As is Positano, Praiano is on the side of a high hill so expect to be climbing plenty of steps and roadways.
  • Used La Sibilla boat to go to Capri. Goes from the Praiano beach and was much better than catching the ferry from Positano.
  • Catch the cable car up to Capri and be amazed at what is there.
  • Visit One Fire Beach Club in Praiano, 400 odd stairs down but a good time.

A lovely place

April 2017 - Villino Blu is a lovely place to go to for stunning views and wonderful walks and peace and quiet. It is ideally located between Amalfi and Positano. We had a thoroughly relaxing week there.

The place was great, and the owners were happy to please. They take great care of their property. They were very pleasant and couldn't have been nicer hosts.

This is our second time with Summer In Italy. Wonderful once again. Everything was exactly as described and definitely met our expectations. We will be back!

Travel tips

  • Tutto per Tutti is fine for all groceries, as well as the closer grocer, which is right before this one, where we ended up getting all of the freshest veges necessary for daily meals, including wonderful asparagus, tomatoes and pane.
  • The SITA bus stop is a short walk away, which takes you to Amalfi in one direction and all the way to Sorrento the other way, if you wish. Very easy.
  • Some cute ceramic stores there too.
  • There are several nice informal restaurants in walking distance, as close as 10 minutes, and if you find yourself wandering, you will locate several more right at the waterfront.
  • All restaurants we went to were lovely with great meals and wine. We loved the assortment of seafood, and local meats and cheeses, especially the alici.
  • There are winding paths everywhere, beautifully decorated with artistic designs from I think, local artists.
  • There is the wonderful Walk of the Gods that takes you all the way up to nearly the top of the daunting cliffs, where you find a beautiful and simple 400-year old convent. Yes, you can get tea and even a snack there. It's a hike but well worth the exercise.

Wonderful place to stay

October 2016 - Villino Blu is a wonderful place to stay for those that enjoy peace and quiet and stunning views. We had a great experience at Villino Blu, the property is wonderful.

We decided to stay at Villino Blu, based on the recommendation of my brother and wife who have stayed there on two occasions in prior years. Summer In Italy web site and the pictures of the property are attractive and encouraged us to book there. Also, the pricing is excellent.

Travel tips

  • Praiano is a great location on the Amalfi Coast.
  • We took a trip to a winery in Furore (Cantine Marisa Cuomo), 30 minutes by car and ate lunch at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean arranged by the winery.
  • Enjoyed a Sunset Cruise - 75 minutes of pure relaxation and enjoyment.
  • Took a group tour to Capri (max 12 on the boat). They picked us up at Marina di Praia Beach in Praiano (upon our request) which saved us the hassle of taking the bus or getting a driver to get to Positano.
  • Cooking class at Villa Ida in Sorrento is a great experience and highly recommended...
  • We highly recommend dining at the Restaurant Tramonto D'Oro. The food was amazing along with the beautiful views. The restaurant staff even provided free transportation to and from Villino Blu upon our request!
  • Best meals: Restaurant Torre Normanna in Maiori, Restaurant Max in Positano, Restaurant Tramonto D'Oro in Praiano. Also, we ate at Chez Black in Positano and felt the food and experience was average.

I loved the location!

October 2016 - What a glorious view, and the setup of the house provides wonderful opportunities to enjoy it, with two large terraces. The bedroom was very comfortable, plenty of closet and drawer space. The kitchen and living area (the second bedroom could serve as a living space) were fine -- perfect for just the two of us (and okay for a small family), maybe a bit cramped for four adults but it could work, given the large amount of outdoor space. I loved the location! All in all, perfect!

The landlord was very accommodating.

The views and location are excellent

June 2016 - We enjoyed a super 11 days at Villino Blu, everything was as indicated on your web site. The views and location are excellent, it is quiet but we loved it. The house is very spacious with the terraces exceptional. It is suitable for up to 4 adults.

The owner was really helpful, he spoke English enough to be able to communicate effectively. He had provided (or left by previous guests) many consumables, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, toilet rolls, oil, unopened cereals, a bottle of wine and many other useful items. We were happy to use these, it saved a lot of hassle.

Once again all communications were excellent and advice helpful. We would use Summer In Italy again should we revisit Italy.

Travel tips

  • The local shop Tutto Per Tutti has most things however don't buy your wine there, can't get a bottle of wine under 10 euro. There is a smaller shop just before it with plenty of wine for 5 euro, it also has general provisions which are generally cheaper as well. Just be selective.
  • The local buses are good but strangely the local shops don't sell tickets, you have to go further a field to buy.
  • We didn't have a car and were able to walk to all the local sights etc, but it is hilly.
  • You are located midway between Positano and Amalfi, the Sita bus runs along main road, but is often full.
  • We ate at Kasai Restaurant which was a nice experience, but I wish the meat was cooked more, still very rare even though requesting well done. We had this problem throughout Italy.
  • The boats from Positano were excellent and fast.
  • The only pain was the recycling system in Praiano, rubbish has to be sorted into 6 categories, then put into 4 separate bins, then put street side on different days. However the owner assisted us with this to try and make it simpler.

The grocery was convenient as well as a few restaurants but quite a hike if you want to go into town... Then have to walk back.

Very good

September 2015 - We did enjoy it. Villino Blu is in a good and quiet location. The outside furniture and umbrella on the top terrace are lovely and very comfortable, the lower terrace could probably do with more sun beds and a better umbrella. The lounge area is very small for four people but it is adequate. The shower in the second bathroom is very small and could do with enlarging. The local bus is good and you can walk to the beach and restaurants but you do need to be fit and there are always lots of steps up and down.

I found Summer In Italy via Google and I think it is a very good company. Lots of advisory emails and very helpful. Don't think I would change anything!

The best patio on the Amalfi Coast

September 2015 - We loved Villino Blu... well designed by a professional architect; great space and warmly decorated. Wonderfully outfitted kitchen and the best patios (2 patios!) on the Amalfi Coast. Big bathrooms, but small showers, but 2 stand-up showers with strong water pressure.

Villino Blu has one of the best views at all times of the day... we spent many meals on the upper patio and ended many days sitting in the dark looking at the lights.

Villino Blu is in the most perfect spot on the Amalfi Coast; we felt like locals in the wonderful village of Praiano; we could not image any better place to live like an Italian.

Mr. Maurizio was/is a wonderful host and was sincerely interested in making our visit wonderful... but also gave us all the privacy we could expect.

Summer In Italy has a great website and the photos of Villino Blu were accurate and true (yet even better in person). Summer in Italy sends periodic newsletters that are full of fun and interesting information... I have kept all information for our next visit.

Travel tips

  • Relax... Praiano has wonderful alleys to explore and wonderful restaurants
  • Kasai was our favorite restaurant and incredibly comfortable (sitting outside is great, but indoors is just as great)
  • We enjoyed Casa Angelina for both lunch and dinner ($$$$) and nighttime reservations are a must. Casa Angelina also has a wonderful art collection all through the public areas.
  • Villino Blu is close to everything... nearby are: the Via Roma tunnel bus stop, the Tutto Per Tutti (grocery and wine shop) and Kasai (fantastic restaurant) with the best food and most wonderful servers... I could have eaten at Kasai every night.
  • The one complaint, not with Villino Blu or Summer in Italy, but the fact we did not check around for the various options for tours. We visited the tourist office in Praiano and booked a trip to Capri.. it involved a 2 hr bus ride to Sorrento's bus station (small crowd), a walk to the port to find our boat, and a 30-45 min boat ride (much larger crowd), and a full reverse of travel to return to Praiano but lots of time waiting around for a return bus with LOTS of other folks, like a challenge to get on a bus in a random queue... so 5 hrs wasted on travel (sure, it was beautiful until it was dark)... when we visited Positano, we learned we could have boarded a boat there and gone directly to Capri in less than 1/2 the time. Note to self... think twice before using a tourist office.

Fantastic

July 2015 - We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at Villino Blu. The view from both terraces are spectacular and eating our meals outside on the upper terrace is something that I won't forget. The kitchen is very well stocked with crockery, pots and pans and plenty of olive oil, condiments, water etc left over from previous guests.

The owners keep to themselves even though they live in the villa below, but they are available should you need them.

We had a wonderful two weeks in this lovely villa.

I found Summer In Italy to be excellent and the help and information they provided before traveling proved to be priceless. I was very impressed by the service and will use them again as we travel to Italy most summers for our holidays.

Travel tips

  • There is another smaller shop en route which isn't as well stocked but the Prosecco and wine are quite a bit cheaper here.
  • We ate at Trattoria San Gennaro, opposite Bar del Sole, on 4 occasions and the food was great and good value.

Good

July 2015 - Generally we found Villino Blu a comfortable house. The location was good compared to other properties along the Amalfi Coast. Terrace views wonderful. The all in one kitchen dining lounge was ok for two of us. Main bedroom fine except no air conditioning although both shower rooms and smaller second bedroom had it. We had window open on first night and despite three mosquito plug-ins we were bitten very badly. Rest of the stay we slept at night with windows closed.

We had very good service from Summer In Italy and used them as they had very many properties to chose from.

Travel tips

  • Generally you need to be fit to get around Amalfi area.
  • Although there is a parking space on no account drive to the Amalfi area, the local driving standards are absolutely appalling.
  • We specifically hired a convertible at Rome to enjoy the coast road driving in Amalfi but the car stood at the house unused for the whole length of our holiday - I refused to drive the road, and I absolutely love driving.
  • Use the buses (bus drivers excellent) but you need to allow plenty of time to travel about generally.
  • Marina di Praia Beach was a good find and water taxis to Amalfi and Positano etc. can be arranged from there. Lots of steps to the beach, and remember you do have to get back as well.
  • The walk into Praiano is approximately 1 km where there are some good local restaurants.

August 2014 - Villino Blu is a fantastic 2 level villa, with 2 large terraces offering postcard views eastward along the amazing Amalfi coastline.

Well-appointed & well-provisioned, the upstairs kitchen / living room, with handy adjoining bathroom, has a very large collection of cookware, tableware & cutlery (albeit reasonably mismatched and ageing) & opens onto a terrace with a large umbrella, table with chairs & adjoining garden. Downstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms, the master bathroom & a separate laundry - with another larger terrace complete with a couple of sun-lounges. Apart from a few short spots of sun-lounging, the villa's gorgeous southerly aspect meant that during our stay in high summer the terraces were so sunbathing hot as to be fairly unusable during the day - but our early morning coffees & our early evening aperitifs & occasional al-fresco dinners were always delightful.

Our hosts, Maurizio and Alessandra, offered welcoming info & advice & were near at hand for any other help - found next door most nights, or at any time, by phone.

In the beautiful, relatively quiet garden village of Praiano, just 8 km beyond the far more hectic Positano, we felt perfectly positioned to enjoy a slightly more 'authentic' local experience, with the lovely little Marina di Praia Beach just 1 km down the road & a great assortment of provisions, facilities, restaurants, bars & cafés within less than a kilometer back the other way into the village centre.

With a less frequent internal bus service than Positano's, the villa's position probably calls for your own scooter (easy to be rented locally) - which also makes the property the perfect base from which to explore the other coastal villages & beaches up through Amalfi & all the rest up into the beautiful highland village of Ravello & beyond, toward Salerno.

June 2014 - Villino Blu is a beautiful villa with magnificent views from its terraces.

We found it well equipped for our needs and we were pleased with the location, midway between the center of Praiano and Marina di Praia. We were able to walk to both sites.

Summer In Italy offers a great service. Helpful website with plenty of useful information, friendly exchanges with staff. The search engine was very useful and was my main reason initially for using the site.

Travel tips

  • As Praiano is built on a cliff (like so many of the villages on the coast) the vertical ascents/descents are managed by networks of steps and paths which intersect with the roads.
  • If you don't want to walk, the local bus service is regular. A frequent bus service is available for the main destinations though we sometimes found buses crowded and had to stand.
  • The best means of transport is a scooter. These can be hired locally.
  • We walked to the Marina di Praia several times for a meal. It was a particularly beautiful setting for restaurants.
  • Restaurant Il Pirata was an especially lovely location.
  • Marina di Praia is also good for swimming and boat trips.
  • The nearest Pizzeria (Jolly) is also worth a visit.
  • Up the road from the villa there is a well equipped gym - if you are so inclined - we had a week's membership pass.
  • The "Sentiero degli Dei" (The Walk of the Gods) is a MUST do. A tough climb up but worth the view. You'll be fit after this holiday.

Travel tips

  • Make sure you are a good driver if renting a car, it could be very scary for inexperienced drivers to drive the coast. A good time frame to venture out by car is between 12 noon and 3 pm, that's lunch time.

Fantastic

July 2013 - Villino Blu is a very nice place to share with friends or family. We stayed there for a week in July 2013, 4 adults on 2 floors and plenty of room for luggage and a very useful washing machine.

The best asset: 2 very large terraces to relax and enjoy the view overlooking the village, and a small garden full of flowers.

The place is very well kept. The owners, who live nearby, were available and kind. Yet the house has all the privacy one might need.

Keep in mind, being up the hill, it's longer to go to the beautiful Marina di Praia beach but it makes you walk and keep in shape in a wonderful setting. Enjoy!

You are very efficient, we rented 3 times with you since 2011 and we were not deceived. We highly commend your site to friends and family who want to stay in Italy when they see our incredible pictures along the Amalfi coast!

Travel tips

  • Biggest grocery store is nearby with the best selection of wines in Praiano
  • Do not go there if you don't like to walk on hills, that was not a problem for us though.
  • Do not expect to see Positano from this side of Praiano, this is something we missed from our 2011 holidays at another site near Gavitella beach (but Marina di Praia beach is more beautiful).

July 2013 - Really enjoyed Villino Blu. Lovely house, clean, great view, good facilities and very helpful owners.

Travel tips

  • Location is stunning, Amalfi Coast is spectacular.
  • Good shopping at Tutto per Tutti just up the hill, enjoyed meals at La Brace, Hotel Tramonto d'Oro and Il Pirata.
  • Enjoyed visits to Positano, Capri and Ravello.
  • Only drawback if you like gentle walks are the hills and walking into Praiano means walking on the main road, no pavements so you need to watch out for the traffic.
  • Getting around takes a long time because of the narrow roads.

Fantastic

July 2013 - We had a fabulous time at Villino Blu. The villa is owned by a nice couple who live directly below.

We had a bit of difficulty finding the villa. We called Maurizio (owner) and he came to our car (which we soon realized was 100 metre from the villa) and directed us where to park. The villa is on a one way street and if you miss the driveway you need to do a big circuit, winding around very narrow streets perched up the hill.

The villa is nicely appointed, clean and is great for a family of four. The beds were firm but comfortable. There were two bathrooms upstairs off the living/kitchen area and one downstairs. Both had good water pressure. The kitchen was small but functional. The terraces are wonderful with spectacular views of the bay and Praiano.

We bought groceries from the shop up the hill (5 min walk) a few times and had some nice meals on the terrace.

Travel tips

  • The marina in Praiano is about a 15 min walk (beware, there's many steps you need to negotiate) from the villa. Well worth going down there for a swim or a bite to eat. You can hire sun beds for the day. At Il Pirata (one of the cafes) it costs 6 euro for the day. One of the days we were there we went on a three hour boat trip up the Amalfi coast with La Sibilla Amalfi coast boat tours (left brochure at villa). Highly recommend it. It cost 120 Euros for the four of us. We ended up having a small boat with driver to ourselves, So no cramming on a big one with hoards of tourists. Also meant we had easy access to the grottos along the way. Make sure you book in advance during summer months. We booked it from Praiano Marina the day before but were very lucky as a family had cancelled their tour. After our boat tour we had a very yummy lunch at Bar Mare Petit, a nice family run restaurant overlooking the marina which is very reasonably priced.
  • We caught the local Praiano/Positano (red bus) at the bottom of the street to Positano. The red buses run normally every hour during the daytime but not as frequently at night. Also there is a SITA bus which travels from town to town along the Amalfi. The good thing about the red bus is that you can pay as you get on the bus whereas with the SITA bus you need to purchase tickets at a tobacco store beforehand. I would recommend catching a bus to Positano as its very cheap, parking there is scarce and very pricey and it can get very congested on the road with tour buses etc.
  • Ravello was another place to head to, about 45 mins from Praiano. We drove and found paid parking easily. Villa Rufolo is worth a visit, the gardens, villa and views of coast are spectacular.

May 2013 - Villino Blu is a terrific place and we really enjoyed our week there. It is a handy location for Positano (stunning), Amalfi and Ravello (also a big favourite), whilst being quiet and having a surprisingly well stocked local shop. Worth exploring Praiano and Vettica Maggiore as well. We had some excellent meals locally.

The villa is well equipped and beautifully presented. The terrace is outstanding, of course as the pictures show. It really does look that good (do be aware it faces South East and loses the sun in the evening). As it got dark and the lights came on in Praiano and up the hills and along the coast the view was magical - an unexpected treat.

Very happy with the service. Many Thanks.

Travel tips

  • We tried the buses that are widely praised. However, they proved to be very overcrowded and were often simply full. We failed to get to Amalfi 2 mornings running as the buses were full and would not even stop (this was late May). We used the car instead to get to Ravello and to Amalfi. There are car parks in both towns that we had no trouble getting in (for Amalfi, continue East along the main road for a further few hundred metres after the town centre).
  • To get to Pompeii, we drove to Sorrento (found of car parks near the station on a map) and used the train from there. This worked well.

April 2013 - Did we enjoy it?

It is our 2nd trip in 3 years to Villino Blu! I think that says it all!

If you are looking to truly unwind, view absolutely beautiful surroundings, visit gorgeous towns, and leave feeling you were in heaven, this IS the place to go.

Maurizio and Alessandra [the owners] are so friendly and helpful -- they take great pride in Villino Blue--and it SHOWS! Wonderful hosts!

Summer in Italy has been a pleasure to book with. We especially enjoyed the option to reserve more than 7 days (9 days total) thru the agency. And Luca -- incredible at such quick responses! Many thanks for making it so EASY!!! Grazie Mille!!!

Travel tips

  • Read about our tips from our first trip at Villino Blu back in April 2010!
  • If you are not driving, buy multiple day bus tickets in town the day you arrive! When waiting for the bus, know that it is almost always on time (if not early)!
  • For a restaurant in Praiano, do not miss eating at Vivaro Wine Bar on the opposite side of the street from Tramonto D'Oro Hotel. Although it doesn't look like much from the outside, the food is out of this world (no menu -- just ask Gennaro what you want). We ate there 4 nights, and had a blast!
  • When eating at home, go to Tutto per Tutti (just up the street) for groceries. A wonderful experience!
  • Everyone should experience this at some point in life...

September 2012 - We really enjoyed our stay at Villino Blu, and I would consider staying there again.

The position was excellent for us as there were not too many stairs, and the view from both terraces was fantastic.

The owners seemed very kind and helpful, and although they lived below the villa they were never intrusive.

The villa was also very clean and tidy, but I think the showers could be improved on especially the upstairs one. Would have been a bit less time wasting if there had been an electric kettle and toaster. But these are minor things and certainly didn't stop us from enjoying our stay.

I thought Summer In Italy were very helpful and was very pleased with their prompt reply to any to any queries that we had prior to the holiday.

July 2012 - This was our first time in Praiano in an apartment and we found the location good. The beach was good and not too touristy. The people were very friendly and helpful and also the caretakers were great.

We had a small problem with the power going out a bit as it doesn't handle too many appliances together. It was quite hot while we were there and we had the air conditioning and oven on at the same time. The terrace is lovely and the fridge and kitchen were excellent.

We were very happy with the service and everything went quite smoothly.

Travel tips

  • Ravello was lovely and I still really enjoyed Positano.
  • Had a great lunch at Restaurant La Cambusa in Positano, and an excellent dinner above Positano in Montepertuso. They picked us up and dropped us back for free. The place had great steaks.

July 2012 - On our arrival at Villino Blu everything about it was more than we had hoped for. It felt like our own little slice of Italy. From the beautiful blues and whites inside to the amazing views outside we could not have asked for more. We will always have the most beautiful memories of sitting on the terrace listening to church bells looking at the ocean at sunset overlooking the houses tucked into the hills.

The owners were lovely, friendly people,They were just a few metres away if we needed anything but we had complete privacy.

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to go to Italy, and Villino Blu, the town of Praiano and its lovely people are part of that dream come true. I hope I will return one day.

Thank you for all your help in making our holiday the best dream come true ever!

June 2012 - Villino Blu is fabulous. A very well set up house for short stay holidays.

We looked for a convenient location but in a place that was quiet but near Positano. Lovely local shop and restaurants and overall a very friendly place. Positano was very busy and less personal which is what I would have expected.

You have a good web site, offer excellent advice, notes and details of the property, directions, etc. While the trip went very smoothly, there was a knowledge that there was someone to speak to if any issues. Well done to everyone.

Travel tips

  • Restaurant La Brace and the restaurant down the steps near the church were lovely, great service and food.
  • The nearby beach, 1 km away, was very clean. Because of the high cliffs the sun is gone early, so hit the beach early if that is your thing.
  • The nicest beach in Positano, Fornillo Beach, is to the right of the main beach around the cliff (5 mins walk).
  • Lovely restaurant in Amalfi near the main car park overlooking the harbour.
  • Use the water taxi to see the coast and avoid the traffic.

June 2012 - We enjoyed staying in Villino Blu for three weeks very much. The web-site description is very accurate.

The property is clean and well maintained. The two terraces provide fantastic views of the bay and the upper one, being adjacent to the kitchen, is ideal for dining. We ate all of our meals on that terrace. The huge umbrella provides ideal refuge from the mid-day sun.

This is the ideal location for anyone wanting to either experience living in an Italian town, or keeping themselves to themselves.

The owner, Mr Maurizio, is available for any help that is required, but in an unobtrusive way, which we liked. Our second week brought us the gift of a cake cooked by Mrs Maurizio, and we were given vegetables from the garden next door by a very kind neighbour.

We very much appreciate your help in booking, and the way you communicated instructions as well as passing on information to the owner in preparation for our arrival. Thank you very much.

Travel tips

  • You need to be fit
  • there are no level walks and there are many steps down to the nearest beach and many, many more to the other beaches.
  • There is a local mini-market that sells just about anything within easy walking distance.
  • We did not use our car: driving on the Amalfi coast is not my idea of a holiday! Parking is difficult everywhere, so the parking space at the villa is a valuable asset if you arrive by car as we did. The bus service is good.
  • We went to Positano, well worth the effort, but we decided that the time taken was better used in further exploring Praiano. There are many good walks, but as previously stated, be prepared for hard work. Do explore uphill as well as down to the sea. The narrow passages provide interesting surprises. We came across a team of mules carrying sand to a building site one day.

It was a really excellent holiday overall and your support along the way made it a very memorable holiday. Next time we come to Italy, hopefully you will still be around to assist. Grazie.

Travel tips

  • For anyone visiting the Amalfi coast, I would recommend avoiding peak seasons late June, July and August.
  • Unless you really feel the need for a car, I would not bother. The buses are pretty frequent and reliable, whilst driving the coast road is stressful to say the least. Given the amount of time we used the car it would have been more economical to arrange for a pickup/drop off to Naples airport. That said, driving the coast road in 25 deg. sunshine with the sun-roof down is some of the best fun you will ever have.
  • Final tip... it is not an ideal place for children and teenagers. Limited beaches and things to do. But for quiet peaceful getaway... it is one of the best we have ever found.

October 2011 - I enjoyed Villino Blu very much! The villa was very clean and everything worked within it.

The location in relation to the local village was easy and only a few minutes walk. Because it wasn't in the village it was much quieter. Praiano is the best point to be to visit other villages on the Amalfi Coast and having the bus at the bottom of the street is a bonus.

April 2010 - Words can not express how much we loved our experience. Our stay far exceeded our expectations and we would return in a minute (if time would only allow!).

The ambiance of Villino Blu, the views, the cleanliness, the sunrises with coffee, the peace and quiet, the safety, the beauty of the coastline, the walks, the terraces to sit outside and admire, the very wonderful hosts (Maurizio and Alessandra), are only the beginning of what we called "the best experience of our lives."

Having the Tutti per Tutti grocery store only a 2-3 minute walk was wonderful, and allowed us to feel the beautiful Italian culture. We watched no TV, we turned off our cell phone, played no music and just talked, read, and listened to the sounds of the coast while at home. Talk about recharging your battery!!!

During our stay we visited most of the towns of the Amalfi coast, and Praiano is very centrally located and Villino Blu has incredible views. If peace and quiet is high on your list, and staying at a very comfortable and beautiful setting... look no further. Just don't reserve when we want to return!!!

Your website is very professional and easy to follow. Reservations and info that followed was very easy and accurate. Thank for putting us in touch with Villino Blu!

Travel tips

  • DO NOT USE A CAR. TAKE THE BUSES EVERYWHERE -- you can enjoy the views much better!!! And enjoy the beauty while you wait for the bus -- it is incredible near Villino Blu!
  • Buy a 3 day pass for the bus at any Tabacchi store (you can hop on and off any SITA bus -- mostly Blue but sometimes Green).
  • Consider the local bus as it goes only to/from Praiano and Positano (although we are told has no air conditioning -- we were there in April...). The SITA buses can be busier since they stop at other towns (they have a/c).
  • Do your laundry early (be sure to press and LIFT the washing machine door slightly to open it), then hang up your clothes for the day!
  • Visit Positano a few times (15-20 minutes), and visit Amalfi, Ravello, Minori, Maiori (the last 2 have markets that were nice to visit).
  • The grocery store has a "basement" many other goods can be found (we didn't know the 1st 2 days...)
  • Eat a meal at Il Pirata (at the beach in Praiano) and Chez Black (on the beach in Positano).
  • Consider bringing some music for dinners and don't forget to buy some candles!!!
  • Play cards during the evening and have a blast!
  • Get up early to see the sunrises and bring binoculars for other views of the coast.
  • Taking the Circumvesuviana train from Naples? Consider getting off at Meta (instead of going all the way to Sorrento)! Then take the Sita bus to Praiano!

The best thing about the Villino and Summer in Italy was that we got exactly what they told us we would. There were no trick photos and no bad surprises. The person who met us at the villa was very nice, helpful, and easy to deal. After we left Amalfi we went to Rome where we had rented a villa from another company - we had a terrible experience. May 2009 - We stayed for one week, with 3 adults and there was plenty of room for us all, plus two bathrooms. The views were amazing and we spent a lot of tome on the balconies, and ate out there every morning and most nights.

We were able to buy everything we needed from wine to lovely fresh produce, bread and other groceries at Tutti Frutti, just a short walk away. The two guys who ran it were friendly and helpful.

We walked to the beach a couple of times, and found it easier to take the bottom road, the there were fewer steps. The weather was superb in May and we ate both times at Restaurant Alfonso A mare at the Beach - fabulous seafood and great service.

Just a tip for catching the bus: don't use the local brown bus, its not air-conditioned and only goes to Positano and back. Take the blue Sita buses which go all over the Coast from Sorrento to Salerno. You can buy ticket at the Tabacchi on the bottom road.

May 2009 - Villino Blu was the most splendid of our five rented villas.

The two level house is sparkling, modern and welcoming and having a safe off-street car park was an asset.

We spent max time on the two enormous terraces just marvelling at the views and the action on the water (the huge patio umbrella was a big plus in our fabulous weather).

Praiano is a real town, with all amenities and a genuine local flavour - within easy walking of the villa. We were very glad to have discovered Praiano, rather than stay in a heavily touristed Amalfi town.

Travel tips

  • Driving on the Amalfi Coast requires concentration, some nerve and patience, but it's worth it for a scenic experience never to forget (leave plenty of time to get from A-B).
  • Praiano has an excellent supermarket - up the hill from the villa - and good butchers, fruit, vegs etc in lower town.

April 2009 - My husband and I stayed at Villino for 14 days in April. It was the most enjoyable vacation we have had in a long time.

The view from the terrace is absolutely wonderful and we spent many hours just relaxing and enjoying it!

The kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need including a dishwasher.

The bed is very comfortable and everything is clean and fresh. The washing machine came in very handy as we were determined to pack light this time!

The neighborhood people are very friendly and helpful and we felt like we belonged there after a few days. We will certainly make plans to return in the future.

I was very happy with Summer in Italy. We found it on the Internet and just went from there. The photos were beautiful and accurate and all information was reliable. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • Against our better judgement, we rented a car while planing our trip from home. We never picked it up! The transit system in the area is so efficient and very, very reasonable. In April there were no lines, and no waiting to travel to Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, and all the major sites are so easy to get to by either bus, train or ferry. You can get the bus just minutes from the villa.
  • Our favorite restaurants were in the marina (I believe it was call Marina di Praia), also within walking distance if you don't mind the hills and steps. We are both in our late 50s and managed fine.
  • Favorite places we visited were Pompeii and Positano.
  • Capri was lovely and the boat ride very scenic.
  • Ravello was also very pretty but not much to do there.
  • We spent three days in Rome after Praiano and it was enough for me. A busy, crowded city with a great visit to the Colosseum the highlight. Don't forget to carry change for the bathrooms. When you can find one, it will certainly cost you 50 cents or more. Also, make sure you have a reliable phone. We had trouble with ours and had a hard time keeping in touch with family.
  • You may also want to bring something to do in the evenings spent at the villa. The TV doesn't have many options and there is no radio. My husband and I bought a 1000 piece puzzle of Positano and completed it (and a bottle of wine)!

August 2008 - I highly recommend Villino Blu to anyone looking for a great location, peaceful and clean.

Villino Blu is much better than the pictures shown in the web. It's new, spacious, clean, very nicely decorated, air conditioned. The 2 bedrooms are good size although in the picture look small. The 2 bathrooms are also very nice, living room/kitchen area also very comfortable and the 2 terraces are just great.

We were a group of 4 (2 adults + 2 children) and this was the perfect place.

I would also like to tell how impressed my wife and I were about "Summer in Italy". The whole process from the search to the confirmation, payment, vouchers, etc. has been really professional.

I will use your services again when travelling to Italy for sure and I will deeply recommend to others.

It's been a pleasure to travel with you.

Travel tips

  • There are 2 mini markets near the house.
  • Remember to buy your bus tickets before taking the bus.
  • There is a beach you can walk to (10 minutes and loads of stairs) where there is a great restaurant called Pirata's.
  • Beaches are not sandy in this area so if you travel with children and look for bigger/sandy beaches I will recommend to go to Maiori near Amalfi.
  • We rented a boat for the morning. I highly recommended it as the view from the sea is just stunning.

June 2008 - My wife and I loved Villino Blu, we wanted a quiet place to escape to between the busier towns of Amalfi and Positano and it was perfect.

Beautiful view of the mountains and sea with way more room than 2 people need inside and out. Recently renovated and tasteful.

The hosts, Maurizio and Alessandra couldn't be nicer and will helped us many times with taxi's, directions, advice, even giving us a lift at times. Warm, lovely people who genuinely want you to enjoy their villa and have a good time.

Summer In Italy is great! Very helpful and responsive. I have and will recommend your site to friends, thanks for wonderful experience.

Travel tips

  • There's a lot of walking to bus stations, towns, etc, all doable if you're fit.
  • The buses can be a bit unpredictable so, while we didn't need a car, I think next time we'll get one(or a scooter) to maximize our time.
  • Take the bus to Positano on a weekday because it can get very crowded. Same for Amalfi.
  • Ravello must be seen, brilliant.
  • Crash, bask, swim a couple days in Praia, walkable from Villino Blu.
  • We recommend a lounge chair on the water at Il Pirata. Very good food and beautiful water.

May 2008 - Excellent location, wonderful views.

Very modern and built into the hillside with a parking spot on the "roof".

The 2 outdoor terraces and their view were the main attraction, as was the terrace for drying clothes.

Within "walking" distance of a great food store, 3 hotels and the village. Mostly walking on a street. Up and down, rather than stairs.

Travel tips

  • Bring binoculars, you will be able to see the tour boats, fishing boats, freighters and private pleasure boats as well as views up the hills and as far as Salerno.
  • If you have a mobile, bring it as there is no phone and the public phone is in town (20 min.)

May 2008 - We loved Villino Blu!! It was a beautiful location and great accommodations.

The view was tremendous and we enjoyed sitting and eating out on the terrace.

Parking was convenient.

We also enjoyed "living like an Italian" and walking up to the grocery store to buy food and drink.

Our host was very cordial. The only two items I would bring up were that we had trouble figuring out the electrical switches in the kitchen and the TV only had about 1 or 2 English channels. We kept the plants watered and realized it was a good idea to get a Villa away from the town since the towns were busy with tourists. It was a bit of a drive to get into the towns but I became use to the winding roads.

Once again, we had a great time and would recommend Villino Blu and your hospitality to anyone.

You folks were great. The communication and planning was flawless...

April 2008 - This is the second time around at Villino Blu and I enjoyed the second time the same as the first. The place is a piece of paradise. The owners have really done a great job in the construction as well as the decoration.

The location is good since you do not have to go too many steps to reach it. All the conveniences are within a block away (of course up and down the hill).

I will recommend this facility to anyone who wants to stay close to the big attractions (Positano and Amalfi) but yet stay in an almost secluded but charming area. I recommend the Praiano to Positano public transportation. It is a little bit unreliable but if you are on vacation it is not a problem and it is very cheap 1 Euro per person. Besides it gives you the whole view of the area.

Keep up the good work!! your website is the easiest website to deal with. You are very attentive.

Travel tips

  • I love to cook and the kitchen is very well equipped. If you are one of those crazy people with food that we are, I recommend that you go to the local market, get their fresh ingredients and cook at home. This time we brought music and candles so every night we had a home cook candle light dinner with background music. Even if you do not like to cook much, it is delightful to buy their wonderful deli meats (nothing like it in the States), their local eggs (which are orange instead of yellow), their fresh oranges (there is an electric juicer in the kitchen) and if you are as fuzzy as we are (we brought our own coffee) you may buy their coffee and have a great breakfast without spending an arm and a leg.

November 2007 - I think that this cleverly designed , beautifully positioned villa represents great value for money.

The owners are very special people and are extremely keen to see you enjoy the stay. Any requests we made were attended to promptly and with a smile.

The villa is even better in reality than portrayed on this web site.

It is modern with modern appliances and spotlessly clean.

The sunsets and sunrises are fantastic.

Great service. Lucky result from Internet browsing got me to your site.

My wife and I felt we were valued clients and couldn't have wished for better communication.

Travel tips

  • Shop locally: several good small supermarkets close by.
  • A walk to the village requires some level of fitness although my wife and I are both in our sixties and did the walk at least 5 times.
  • We caught the bus to various other towns and cities.
  • The parking space was very helpful.
  • There is a very good ladies hairdresser close by her name is Rosetta.
  • The locals love any attempt to speak Italian by visitors (even if you don't pronounce words correctly they respect your attempts).
  • If you drive to the villa make sure you arrive at the meeting point before 3 30 as driving into the setting sun along the ocean road and through narrow streets in the towns along the way is onerous.

September 2007 - Villino Blu made our trip to Italy! After a busy day touring it was so great to come back to that wonderful terrace to relax and enjoy the beautiful view. In addition Villino Blu is very clean and modern.

If you are into cooking on your holiday the kitchen is well equipped and the Tutti Frutti market up the street had a good range of products. However, if your are not, there are lots of great restaurants walking distance to try out.

All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to friends or re-book it myself. It really is a little piece of heaven.

I think Summer in Italy is a great website for selecting accommodations and I was very pleased with the process.

Travel tips

  • Although we had a car (parking spot provided was excellent) it was easier to walk to town or to take the local bus (bus stop is very close) for some touring without having to worry about trying to find a parking spot.
  • The local tourist office was very helpful in providing information for the bus as well as hiking.

July 2007 - Villino Blu is an amazing vacation property. While the pictures on the website are accurate, they don't do the place justice. The atmosphere was completely relaxed and was just lovely. The villa is located on a small street with no thru traffic.

I found the place to be exceptionally clean and the landlords very nice, charming, accommodating, friendly, helpful -- just the best people you would want to deal with.

The kitchen is very modern, well stocked with every kind of device you would need to cook/serve fabulous meals, the fridge has an ice maker on the door, you get 2 enormous terraces, there is plenty of hot water with strong pressure. We were able to wash our clothes in the washer.

The views were lovely, breathtaking and made us just smile in awe at our luck to find such a gem.

If I have to have any criticism its that the beds were a bit hard. Other than that, this place can not be beat. It is a magical amazing place that my friends and I are going to come back to year after year. Thank you for an amazing time.

Travel tips

  • You can leave your car and walk to the beach. I highly recommend renting chairs from Casa Paradiso on the cliffs. You can jump into the water from your platform! Also, its peaceful and not crowded. The beach restaurant at Casa Paradiso serves wonderful grilled seafood and the owner, Pino, took us under his wing. Pasquale and Antonio will surely bring you chilled espresso to nurse your hangovers or a glass of prosecco to start your day off nicely.
  • Praiano is much nicer and less expensive than Positano. I would recommend eating also at Hotel Tritone.

May 2007 - We enjoyed the proximity of the house to the whole coast from Salerno to Sorrento. It was easy driving in both directions to all the towns up and down the coast.

The parking space at the house is a definite bonus, we wouldn't have wanted to rely on the buses and or taxi's.

The owners are very nice and gracious people and want to know about any issues or needs.

I couldn't ask you to do any more than you've already done. Your staff is prompt with e-mails and information. We will definitely use Summer in Italy again when we return next year.

Travel tips

  • Visit the small hotel in the middle of Praiano called Le Fioriere and have breakfast and evening cocktails there. This is a family run hotel with great service, Luigi and Rosalia are very gracious and friendly and speak perfect English. We stopped there on our first day to get the keys to the house and they made the phone call to the owner to tell them that we were there and made us feel very much at home. Tell them that Charlie and Lynn said hello and that you read this on Summer in Italy's feedback site.
  • Rent a car or a scooter, don't rely on the buses, you will waste valuable time you could have spent exploring, the driving is nowhere as bad as most people write about.
  • Ask Luigi to make dinner reservations for you at Tagliata in Positano, I won't give away the surprise of eating there, just go and you will see what I mean. Make sure that there is entertainment there the night you go.
  • Pompeii is only an hour and fifteen minute drive north and make sure you visit Ravello and stop for a lunch time cocktail at the Palazzo Sasso Hotel. The hotel patio has amazing views and service, the French have opened a very posh, finely landscaped and decorated hotel. Enjoy...

April 2007 - The villa exceeded our expectations. Wonderful location in a 'real' village hillside setting with superb views along the Amalfi coastline.

It actually had its own parking space - a necessity around here.

We were welcomed by both the friendly owners and shown around their beautiful villa. It had been recently renovated to a high standard with designer touches.

The living/dining area although part of the kitchen was compensated by the two large patio areas on two levels.

All our needs were provided for.

We have been impressed with the service and customer care provided by Summer In Italy.

Travel tips

  • A car is not a necessity here and can be a problem with the lack of parking spaces, the narrow, twisty roads and the Italian driving style.
  • There is a frequent bus service along the coast to Amalfi, Ravello and Positano - all worth the journey.
  • Lots of local walks but expect steps everywhere.

August 2006 - We really enjoyed our stay at the villa. The owners were lovely and even bought us a tray of fresh lemons one day so we made fresh lemonade.

We were able to pick tomatoes, basil and aubergines from the vegetable patch which was great for when we had dinner at home.

The kitchen was extremely well equipped and modern and the owners had supplied all the necessary things like tea towels, tea & coffee, salt & pepper, oil, dishwasher tablets etc. When we arrived there was even an ice-cream in the freezer for us!

The bathrooms were lovely, no bath tub but this didn't matter to us at all. The lounge was average because it was a lounge/kitchen area only. The location was above average and we had a car which was invaluable. The villa is situated high up the hill in Praiano and it is a long walk down to the waterfront, this wasn't a problem for us as we didn't mind the walk and we also felt part of the village.

June 2006 - Our experience at Villino Blu was heaven. Maurizio and Alessandra, our hosts, were a lovely, warm, hospitable couple who helped to make our stay "squisito" (even supplying a list of wonderful restaurants). A big plus was the parking space (almost unheard of on the coast.) Another plus was the 15 stairs... usually there are 60 and more... this was so easy.

The villa was clean, attractive and updated, and had tons of closets. Both bathrooms were spacious and modern. The livingroom was a little small, but the kitchen (which was very well stocked) looked out onto the Mediterranean so it was a cooking haven.

The very best part of Villino Blu were the 2 spacious terraces with a view of the sea and Praiano... absolutely incredible!

Praiano is less touristy (something we liked) than Positano and Amalfi.. we drove and took buses (bus stop close to villa) to the nearby towns. We loved being with the locals... there are 2 nearby markets... both supplying fresh produce, cheeses, staples, and friendly smiles!

Alessandra, Maurizio, and Summer In Italy helped to make this one of the most memorable vacations we've ever had.

April 2006 - We had an excellent stay at Villino Blu. New rental - beautiful tile throughout - very clean and quiet location. Better have a car than to rely on the bus.

The owners spoke enough English and we spoke enough Italian to communicate. They are very nice and helpful - especially when it came to directions to other cities. There's tutto per tutti (grocery store) w/in walking distance that you'll find everything you'll need.

We stayed 1 week w/ our 2 kids (ages 12 and 16) so having 2 bedrooms worked good, however our 16 yr old son couldn't fit in the bunk bed... so he slept on the couch in the kitchen/family room area.

We didn't spend much time in the apartment - mostly just to eat breakfast and sleep. If you're looking for a place were you'll need room for "hanging out" in - this might be a bit small. It's basically a kitchen w/ a table and 4 chairs and a sofa on the main level (along w/ a full bathroom w/ a shower)... then downstairs you have the 2 bedrooms, laundry area and full bathroom (w/ shower)... each level has a large terrace area w/ chairs... (great for sitting out on - especially at night) so it's not a place that has a lot of room to hang out in on the inside.

We rented a car which we highly recommend. Our friends had to use the local buses and they spent a lot of time "waiting" around for one. Villino Blu has a parking spot - so you won't have to pay there if you decide to use the buses during the day. We liked visiting a different city everyday and having the freedom to come and go as we pleased. If you rent a car... rent a small one... roads are VERY SMALL.

We would recommend staying at Villino Blu.

You all were great to deal with - very helpful and we appreciate your help. We liked the fact that we could call you at any time for help! We will be sure to use your services in the future.

September 2005 - We absolutlely loved our stay at Villino Blu - it exceeded our expectations.

It's a gorgeous new villa with amazing views and all the comforts of home. The kitchen has all the modern comforts and is a joy to cook in.

The owners have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into creating a holiday home where your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible - they have thought of everything!

There is a great market just up the road run by friendly italian men which has gorgeous Italian produce.

Praiano is a great place to stay if you want some peace and quiet and to live life like a local. It is in between Positano and Amalfi - both of which are more touristy and busier but are easily accessible. We hired a scooter to get around on while we were there and spent our days exploring the nearby villages and our nights eating home cooked meals and drinking vino under the stars on the deck.

Thank you for your help!

July 2005 - We have had a fantastic holiday there. The view from terrace was fabulous.

The apartment was clean and comfortable.

At first I was a little bit nervous, because we hadn't used your services before, but this was a nice expierience. That was a very good thing that the rating of Villino Blu and reality was what I tought (in advance) it should be.

June 2005 - We loved Villino Blu.

It had everything we needed: lots of space and lots of luxuries you dont normally expect in euro accommodations :)

The best part is the giant balconies. We spent almost all our time outside enjoying the view!!
