Sacro Cuore di Gesu Church

Pause for a moment while enjoying the thriving shopping district of Gallipoli to take a look at the church in Corso Roma, the Sacred Heart of Jesus. No, it's not the usual festooned splendor of Puglia baroque. This church is a modern construction, one of the few with an interesting and beautiful architectural rendering.

It mimics Romanesque style inside and out, but with contemporary lines and materials added. It's a nice change and a modern marvel that departs from the usual "function over form".

Located in the middle of the shopping district, you'll find plenty of cafes, restaurants and gelato shops to choose from.
