The civic museum of Gallipoli is more than just a brief history of the city, it's a trip back through centuries. Located amidst the narrow lanes of the old town, with its charming white-washed buildings, palaces and churches, you'll find the palazzo that houses this gem, known officially as Museo Civico Emanuele Barba.

Inside, there is a collection that spans many eras and many genres. There are artifacts and pieces that comprise the historic, artistic and archeological aspects of the area, along with medals and moeny, furnishings and domestic items, sacred pieces and souvenirs. There is also a section dedicated to marine life and shells.

All in all, it's a pleasant place to spend an hour or two and gain a better understanding of the Salento.
