Lovely apartment outside of Amalfi town!

August 2019 - The owner was kind and very helpful, picking us up and dropping us off at at the ferry port. He showed us around, giving us useful information about the bus, market, and local restaurants.

The apartment has spectacular views and was perfect for two couples. We did not have a car, but were able to utilize the SITA bus system. Without a car, you can access. Amalfi and Pogerola in about 20 minutes of healthy walking, but be prepared for steps and hills.

We enjoyed, wine, cheese, and snacks on the beautiful, peaceful terrace and stargazed after sunset!

We had a beautiful stay

August 2019 - We had a beautiful stay. The view is fabulous and the terrace is perfect, it's even prettier than the pictures. The rooms are large and nice, the bathrooms are good too.

We loved the location, it was quiet and private and the views were amazing. Perfect quiet getaway.

We can't wait to come back.

Everything was great!!

Travel tips

  • The location is quite far from the town center of Amalfi. It is located right next to the public stairs down to town, which you can take, but it's something like 25 flights down and up, which is a lot. I would recommend that you purchase bus tickets right away, and get the schedule. The bus picks up right at the bottom of the property stairs and is by far the easiest way to get to town and back.
  • You can get a taxi coming home if the bus stops running. But the taxis don't like to run up there and will try to convince you to walk the stairs instead, but dressed up and in heels is no fun way to walk those stairs.
  • Also definitely get help taking your luggage to the property, if you have any large luggage.

This property is amazing and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Amalfi

July 2019 - This property is amazing and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Amalfi.

The views are spectacular and the home is in a quiet area that provides you some privacy away from the main areas of Amalfi. It's a bit of a climb like any place in Amalfi but well worth it. Having beach towels available to guest would have been a nice perk, otherwise everything you needed was there.

Travel tips

  • The center of town is reachable by a bus 1 minute walk that takes 15 minutes to get to the bottom and reach the center of town, extremely convenient.

Perfect location

May 2019 - This apartment is perfectly situated for enjoying all the Amalfi Coast has to offer. It is a two bedroom villa with a broad terrace for gazing out at the sea, or enjoying a glass of wine before dinner.

There are many stairs to climb to reach the apartment but that is the case with almost every place you rent so be warned. The bus is at the corner which takes you directly to the center of Amalfi. So you get to enjoy the bustle when you want, and return home to this beautiful and restful home.

A few minutes from Amalfi, nestled above the town with a magnificent view!

September 2018 - Casa dei Cappuccini A is located a few minutes from Amalfi, nestled above the town with a magnificent view! You could drive, take a bus or taxi to the main square (Cathedral) or the port. If you are good at hiking, take the public stairs (in front of the house) to the port and center of town. The view is magnificent. The house is equipped with basic kitchen utensils, refrigerator, AC, etc. There are approximately 80 steps from the parking to the house. A great villa to stay in Amalfi.

The owner is very helpful, he speaks English fluently and is a former IBM engineer. The owner can arrange to have your luggage taken up by Antonio the gardener for a reasonable gratuity. You should schedule the luggage assist ahead of time to take it up and later to take them down.

Travel tips

  • The property is located near the port where you could visit Positano, Capri, Ischia using a fast boat.
  • If you are driving, you could visit nearby historic towns and villas. Driving is a challenge but we manage to do well.
  • The area's gastronomy is remarkable! We did not get a bad meal at all. We recommend to visit Ischia, an island located about one 1.5 hours (boat) from Amalfi and known for their natural volcanic thermal baths. You could visit the Castello Aragonese built by the Spanish long ago. The island has beautiful beaches and ocean vistas.
  • Of course, Capri and Positano are other well known destinations, however, get ready for tons of tourists in both Capri and Positano. Ischia is more relaxing.

Really enjoyed

September 2018 - We really enjoyed staying at Casa dei Cappuccini A. Once you understand the buses it is easy to get there from Amalfi where it is a lot busier. You must be prepared for a lot of stairs as is the same everywhere on the Amalfi coast.

Florestano [the owner] was very helpful.

What a great place to stay!

Words cannot express how great the experience was with Mr Florestano [the owner]. He was our personal guide on our visit to Paestum and took us to eat at a mozzarella farm. He also dropped us off in Amalfi a few times.

I have booked with you before and found your service to be excellent.

The view was breath taking

May 2016 - My family and I stayed at Casa dei Capuccini A. The view was breath taking. The terrace was large and spacious with a view that is hard to describe. The house had everything you could need. The beds were a bit on the hard side but comfortable.

Mr Florestano [the owner] was wonderful. He made sure our stay was a great one. He gave us suggestions of places to go.

Travel tips

  • The public transportation can bring you right outside the house. The bus stopped in front of the house.
  • While you are staying at Casa dei Capuccini experience the hiking trails.
  • We enjoyed Gerry's Pub. They offer pick up service and the owner is gracious and makes sure you are having a great time. They have live music on the weekends.

Fantastic

August 2015 - We had a perfect stay in Amalfi, away from the traffic and with amazing views. The sunsets over the sea with a glass of ice cold Prosecco are to die for.

The rooms are large and very clean, the old but well kept furniture breath the history of the house, the kitchen is fully equipped. The terrace, the garden, the cats and dogs provided a great "at home" feeling. The property has also a parking spot (great value in Amalfi).

The owner, Mr Florestano, was a perfect host and gave us info and tips about places to see.

Travel tips

  • To reach the center of the town and the harbor you can walk down a narrow stairway for about 25 minutes and come back by SITA bus - the stop is called Pastena and is located right across the street.
  • There is a supermarket very close.

September 2014 - Casa dei Cappuccini was AMAZING!

The views are spectacular and the apartment was decorated beautifully. The kitchen is small, but fully furnished with all the necessities including a clothes-washer, which came in very handy. The interior is quite charming and full of history.

Florestano (the host) is wonderful. He is a gracious, kind and helpful host.

We truly enjoyed spending time at this apartment. It was right on the bus route and far enough out of town that we could enjoy peace and quiet in the evenings while enjoying the incredible views. We did not want to leave this place!

Summer In Italy site was a great find... We stumbled across it by accident while looking for properties in Amalfi and it proved to have better places than we could find elsewhere.

Travel tips

  • This is Amalfi: there are MANY steps to get anywhere, including the steps to get from the road up to the property. Be prepared that you will get a great workout!
  • Be sure to take the public steps into town at least one time: it's a beautiful walk with numerous photo options.

June 2014 - We highly recommend Casa dei Cappuccini and hope to return in the future. Casa dei Cappuccini was the perfect spot from which to explore the area, the view from our beautiful apartment was the best on the Amalfi coast.

The apartment was perfect and we appreciated the quality of the furnishings, fixtures, appliances, linens and dishes. The huge terrace offers views of endless sky and sea.

We will always remember the kindness and hospitality extended to us by Florestano [the owner]. He was attentive to every detail. Even going to market for us for a few breakfast items as we arrived late in the evening. He also shared his homemade jams at breakfast and his kitchen garden for fresh lemons and the fixing for an amazing salad each evening. He is very interesting and taught us much about Italian culture, including what not to miss while in the area.

The information and contacts provided by Summer in Italy were spot on.

January 2014 - Fantastic place and a gracious, wonderful host. Although the kitchen and the living area are quite small, the location, the host, the view and the terrace more than make up for it. After all, you are not there to cook!

One other thing: wi-fi signal does not reach inside the apartment, but is fine on the terrace.

June 2013 - Our one week stay at the Casa dei Cappuccini was the highlight of our month in Italy. We enjoyed the hospitality of the owner Florestano as much as the accommodation.

The views were spectacular, with Casa dei Cappuccini sitting above the Amalfi coast, I felt privileged that this location was shared with us.

Florestano's level of personal attention and sensitivity to our needs was just right. He is well suited to this industry.

Everything was perfect, thank you.

Travel tips

  • Having a car was helpful but not necessary, a bus stop was at the entrance.
  • The steps from the road to the house might make Casa dei Cappuccini a stretch for the elderly.

June 2013 - Our experience was exceptional. The owner was attentive to every detail and made us feel safe and welcome. He offered continuously to help and one of our best evenings there was dining with him. He also shared his homemade jams at breakfast. He is very interesting and taught us much about Italian culture, including what not to miss while in the area.

The villa is immaculate with all the conveniences one could need. The terrace is spectacular. The location of the villa is wonderfully accessible to Amalfi town, but also to the quiet area of Pogerola with three convenient restaurants without having to get on the busiest road. The area is a genuine neighborhood versus a touristy area.

Everything was delightful. The information you sent was perfect. The phone numbers you provided made us feel confident, even though they were not needed.

Travel tips

  • There are 107 steps between the gated parking space and the villa.
  • Villa Cimbrone in Ravello is spectacular, as is the whole town. There are boats that will take you on a nice ride on the beach in Positano.
  • A car is required, but driving is only for the brave.

Fantastic

April 2013 - We stayed at Casa dei Cappuccini for almost 2 weeks in April 2013. During our visit we traveled to many small towns in the area, but the 4 of us agreed that the view from our beautiful terrace was the best view on the Amalfi coast.

The apartment is very comfortable for two couples. We appreciated the quality of the furnishings, fixtures, appliances, linens and dishes. The renovations have been well done and made clever use of the space while preserving the character.

The kindness and hospitality of our host was outstanding.

The stairs to the apartment turned out not to be a problem, although guests would need to be physically able. We often walked to the town of Amalfi and took the local bus back. The market is about 5 minutes walk away and is well stocked with snacks, cheeses, meats, breads, pastas and canned goods. Also wine!

We highly recommend Casa dei Cappuccini and hope to return in the future.

Summer in Italy did a great job keeping us updated and we especially enjoyed the newsletters.

Travel tips

  • Rent a small car or take the high speed train from Rome to Salerno and the bus to Amalfi. Driving is slow as the roads are narrow and busy.
  • We rented a small boat and driver from Gioacchino Esposito to tour along the coast. Loved that.
  • We walked to Gerry's Pub for great local dinners several times. I especially recommend the tiramisu.
  • Once while walking down the stairs to Amalfi, we encountered a young man on a mule, leading a second mule up the stairs. Very special.
  • We enjoyed many lunches and cappuccinos in the square at Amalfi. The travel agent there was helpful in arranging tickets for the high speed train to Rome.

September 2012 - We had a very warm welcome and enjoyed host's support and attention throughout the week. It was nice that we interacted directly with the owner and that he lived in a part of the villa, too. He invited us to his house to an excellent dinner that he cooked himself. And he treated us to fruits from his garden from time to time.

It was also nice that the villa comes with some history - with its roots in Cappuccini Hotel, one of the famous hotels in Europe in the past.

Travel tips

  • There is a nice quiet beach at the western piers of Amalfi -- a 495 stairs staircase leads to it. I'd recommend going back with a SITA bus, though.

August 2012 - Casa dei Cappuccini is a beautiful house furnished and decorated with exquisite taste and completely equipped (including items like dishwasher).

From the terrace you have a wonderful view of the classical postcard of Amalfi.

The owner, who lives in the next house, is a true Italian gentleman.

People of Summer in Italy are wonderful, very kind and dedicated. They provided us with a lot of information which was accurate and useful.

Travel tips

  • You re 10 minutes from the port itself (you have a bus stop in front of the house if don't want to use the car).
  • You have a small shop 200 meters from the house at very reasonable prices.
  • There's a swimming pool with a wonderful terrace 200 meters from the house, where you can spend the day, if you do not want to go to the beach.
  • Advice: leave the car in the parking and take the bus, is highly reliable. Don't hesitate to ask the owner for advice, he has wonderful tips to enjoy the surroundings.

June 2012 - Casa dei Cappuccini is a special place. Its furniture breathes the history of Amalfi.

The owner has a strong relationship to the place, he renovated an equipped the apartment with an exceptionally good taste.

Don't go there if you don't care about culture, go there if you want to dive into a very Amalfi way of lifestyle.

Travel tips

  • Keep mind that you are several hundred meters above sea level. For anything you do, you'll have to use the public bus. The bus stop is about 25 stair steps from the apartment. You'll reach Amalfi in 15 min, where you'll find restaurants, bars and connections to wonderful beaches.
  • Go to Pogerola once, it's not far from the apartment. On top of the mountains and you'll get a totally different picture of the region.

September 2011 - A fantastic villa offering some of the best views of the Amalfi Coast including Amalfi to Conca Dei Marini to Maiori!!

Mr. Florestano [the owner] is such a generous owner and cooked us dinner the first night we were there (a traditional Italian dinner with all 4 courses to add!)

Very clean and cozy along with a very large terrace to enjoy breakfast in the morning or dinner in the evening.

Travel tips

  • A car is helpful (private parking available) since it is a 10 min bus ride from the main piazza in Amalfi, but the SITA bus runs right past the house every hour.

Unfortunately, Casa dei Cappuccini A can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
