On a promontory above Lake Come, Vercana's musical name comes from a Gallic god. Appropriate for its heavenly views, the village of about 700 souls sits above the plain with expansive panoramas and a peaceful position. The plain, with the town of Domaso on it, fans out below and nice pebble beaches are found here to enjoy the cool fresh water of the lake.

The town encompasses several outlying hamlets, and there are trails up into the mountains as well as a beautiful lakefront promenade. Stroll along the water and watch the boats in the marina and kids learning to fish. The walk from Domaso to Gera Lario along the ancient Regina Road is a popular outing, while hikes in the hills can lead to a rifugio where you can have a nice lunch in the lofty altitude with beautiful views.

Rent a boat to enjoy the water and views, or sun on the beach at Domaso or Arbosto. Take a ferry to other points on the lake. Visit Lugano Switzerland as a day trip.
