The street market in Amalfi is held weekly on Wednesday mornings down behind the port. It is a year-round weekly ritual where locals gather to buy everything from fresh produce to inexpensive clothing to household items, though it is suspended in the month of August. Everyone can enjoy the scent of fruit and vegetables, the vibrant colors, and the exotic mix of foreigners' voices mingled with the Neapolitan dialect. The market sets up from 7 AM to 1 PM.

On Fridays, there is a smaller market held for produce, cheese and flowers, held in Piazza Municipio.

Either of the markets is a colorful way to pass an hour strolling through and seeing the lively interactions.
