Bassano del Grappa, at the foot of Monte Grappa, is famous for the liquor named after it that has been produced here for centuries. The Poli Distillery Museum is at the foot of the Ponte Vecchio in the heart of the city, paying homage to the spirits that have fueled cold winters and spiked strong espresso coffee cups for generations. The museum displays the antique methods of distilling grappa from grape skins and must. Poli has been making grappa and herb-infused elixirs for more than 115 years, and the museum is located in the historic Palazzo delle Teste. Manuscripts, recipes, alchemist supplies, copper cauldrons and more are on exhibit in five rooms to give you a history of the liquor and Bassano del Grappa itself.

Visits are self-guided; the museum is open from 9:00 AM til 7:30 PM daily. For groups of ten or more, or a guided visit with tasting they request that you book your visit online in advance.
