Verona's famous star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, draw hundreds of thousands of fans to twon each year. While Juliet's house is open, the purported Casa di Romeo is private property. You can gaze at the noble brick-built home known as the "Casa dei Montecchi" (of the Montague family) but can't go inside. Except for the restaurant at the ground floor.

Osteria al Duca is in the former stables of the medieval palazzo and serves very typical regional cuisine. Enjoy the rustic ambiance and try one of the hearty soups or a plate of homemade pasta with duck sauce, for example, or the plate named for the home's fictional character, Penne al Romeo, with regional red radicchio and gorgonzola cheese. Main courses include rich stews on polenta, tender veal and horse meat (a local delicacy). There is an extensive wine list that includes Verona's vintages, regional labels and national wines, as well.

Open for lunch and dinner.
