Located in the Valle dell'Alcantara, Mitogio is an agricultural village that is a frazione of Castiglione di Sicilia, in the Catania province. It is a new town by Italy standards, coming into being in 1900 with a hydro-electric works on the river. Now, it is dedicated to agriculture with olives and citrus, but it also sits within the Etna DOC wine zone.

Mitogio is two kilometers from the Gole dell'Alcantara canyon along the river, and 15 kilometers from the Ionian Sea. It is practically attachted to Musciano-Cupparo. In the village, there is an all-purpose "general store" kind of place that is a bar, tabaccherie, pizzeria and restaurant all in one.
