A nondescript building in the San Frediano district of Florence houses one of the city's most illustrious workshops. The silk factory has been producing handmade silks and fabrics since 1786. The looms are semi-automated hand-operated wooden beasts that use technology imparted by Leonardo da Vinci. They turn out glorious fabrics, damasks, and brocades, and silk from this setificio has been used to produce some of Florence's finest tapestries.

Schedule a visit and see it in action. They sell elegant bed linens, table linens and menswear.
