From Vieste the long 1.5 kilometer crescent beach of San Lorenzo is easily accessible and very popular; go beyond that and find this gem. Called "dietro" meaning "behind" San Lorenzo, it is on the other side of the small promontory, tucked below the low cliff that forms a cove. The beach is sandy with crystal-clear water that becomes a deep cobalt as it deepens. Much of the beach is occupied by ordered rows of umbrellas that you can rent for the day along with sun beds or chairs, and they provide showers, a restaurant, bar, snacks and games. There are a few patches of public beach if you prefer to stretch out your towel on the sand or bring your own umbrella. From the SP 52 road, the beach is sign-posted. It is near the Trabucco San Lorenzo (also called Trabucco Garganico) old time fishing platform.
