Dietro L'Isola Passito Wine
The island of Pantelleria is famous for its vino passito, a sweet dessert wine made from dried grapes. They use the moscato d'Alessandria varietal, locally known as Zibbibo. The southern exposure and volcanic soil are perfect for this winery's passito, with natural sun-drying of the grapes on the vines and then in the sunny court to really concentrate the sugars. The passito is the only wine they produce, so reserve a tasting so you can sample it at its source.
