A wonderful place

September 2016 - Villa Violaciocca is a wonderful place to stay and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. They made us feel very welcome and did all they could to help us enjoy our holiday.

Wonderful location

August 2016 - We loved Villa Violaciocca but with two provisos - the pool is wonderful because it has salt water but you cannot swim at all given to the size. Secondly we were concerned about security as the private road for the villa is rented out for parking spaces so some people have access to it and therefore the house. Otherwise though the villa is beautiful, clean, with the most comfortable beds ever, great en suites and a spectacular bathroom. It would also have been nice to have an increased range of kitchen equipment - scales, measuring jug, wooden spoons. The location of just walking distance from supermarket and restaurants is also wonderful.

Clementina is a delightful hostess and made a delicious cake for my daughters birthday. She was always available for contact and the house is wonderful, with amazing views.

Great service from Summer In Italy.

Travel tips

  • Supermarket is within walking distance but you have to go to Positano for meat and fish - and it is almost impossible to park there.
  • Buses only run on the hour and are so packed at peak times they sometimes won't take on more passengers.
  • Try walking down the steps to Positano - 45 mins (tough to climb up again).
  • Walk up to the 'hole' - spectacular views.
  • Don't try and drive to Amalfi in August there is literally nowhere to park - better with a bus, or maybe very early, but the traffic is horrendous!

September 2015 - We had a wonderful trip. Villa Violaciocca was beautifully clean and had everything that we required. A wonderful restaurant nearby.

The whole booking process was easy and all worked very well.

Travel tips

  • Don't worry to hire a car - bus and taxis work just as well.

June 2015 - Tremendous villa. Fantastic views. Fantastic location, out of the town, but the town was easily accessible. Fantastic furnishing. I thought it was a bit expensive at first, but it was well worth the money.

Travel tips

  • Ensure you know the bus timetable for the stop right by the villa and the times it leaves the town.
  • Ensure you reverse down the slope to the car parking area... It is much easier to drive up than reverse up.

June 2015 - What an amazing place. Villa Violaciocca is out of the town but close to a local village with a great restaurant and bus stop. We are pleased the villa was out of the town which is extremely touristy, it gave us a taste of real Amalfi Coast. We hired a car and travelled different Amalfi Coast towns everyday. We had a 4 year old with us who loved the terrace, pool and enjoyed a "bubble bath" in the evenings.

Our hosts treated us to orange cake and fresh eggs, rescued us from a missed bus and arranged the highlight of our week with the boat to Capri.

I loved the newsletter, instructions clear and concise. I would happily recommend and return to Summer In Italy.

Travel tips

  • You can easily get the bus but get a up to date schedule!
  • Believe it or not it was early, we would recommend having a car or scooter.
  • The villa does have steps but this helped me work off all the lovely food.
  • We walked to Restaurant Il Ritrovo 2 nights and had great food and were treated like stars. Service could be slow but who cares, just enjoy the complimentary prosecco and limoncello.

Fantastic

October 2014 - One of my most enjoyable experiences was staying at Villa Violaciocca.

Usually when one travels to a destination, in order to get the best out of a place, must stay in the central or hub area. Because of this, most travelers lose out on experiencing the 'country life' of the village, mixing with the real inhabitants of the village, eating in the family-run restaurants, and getting the feel of the people.

Well, this beautiful, well-equipped villa, allows you to add another dimension to your travel - it allows you to go into the bustling town, and then escape to the privacy of the mountains, and soak up the most spectacular views, high up on the mountain side, overlooking Positano.

Keep the place as enchanting as it is.

It was a big surprise to me that while I was surfing the net, and looking for accommodation, Luca, from Summer In Italy popped up on the screen. I would never have found Villa Violaciocca on my own!

Travel tips

  • For those lucky enough to be future guests of Villa Violaciocca my advice is to be a tourist when in Positano and a 'resident' when up in Montepertuso.

September 2014 - After a very long flight and a long drive from Rome, what was waiting for us at Villa Violaciocca was stunning! The property was magnificent as was the view.

This was our first visit to Italy and the first time renting a villa. I must say, what an introduction to a very beautiful country and its people.

Aurelio, his wife Clementina and their lovely daughter [the owners] greeted us as if we were family. I am Italian by descent and I was so very proud to be a part of this large "Italian clan". Clementina had brought fresh eggs from her own hen house and she had baked a lovely orange plum-cake which was greedily gobbled-up, we were famished and this treat was so very thoughtful. The next day Aurelio showed-up with a loaf of fresh baked bread. Oh so yummy. The night of our arrival Aurelio made reservations for us at his uncle's restaurant, a car was even sent to pick-us up and return us, this was a blessing since we hadn't gotten a lay out of the land yet. Prior to our arrival I had requested a few small comforts, everything was there.

Overall, great people, great location and a lovely home. I would highly recommend Villa Violaciocca!!!!!!

Summer In Italy's web site was the easiest to navigate, and answered a number of questions before you asked or had even thought of. You could contact and inquire them about anything and they made you feel as if you were their only client and they immediately responded and no question was too "stupid". I was made to feel that all would go well and indeed it did. I've already recommended Summer In Italy to Norwegian couple we met in Rome. Keep up the good work. We will use you again. Ciao.

Travel tips

  • Don't be afraid to ask your hosts for tips on shops within walking distance and have them describe the storefront as we missed them the first two times.
  • If you are driving into Positano parking is tough, so look for public parking lots.
  • Do your research about the Amalfi Coast. Tons to see and do.
  • Go to Capri!

September 2013 - We stayed in Villa Violaciocca in September 2013 for one week as part of a 5 weeks holiday. On arrival the owners met us at the villa and they were a really lovely couple and helped us with lots of local information.

The villa itself is WOW much better than the photographs. All the rooms are large and the balcony and pool are fantastic for those days you just want to relax.

I found Summer in Italy a great company to deal with and I hope to use them again. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • If your driving make sure you hire a small car the roads around Positano are very small and suited for small cars.
  • There is bus stop 30 m from the villa driveway where you can get the local bus into Positano which I recommend as parking is expensive in the town. You can buy a bus ticket on board with the driver or in tabacchi shops for about EUR 1.30 one way.

July 2013 - We greatly enjoyed Villa Violaciocca. The house has everything you need for a great stay.

The owners are very gracious hosts and you might enjoy Aurelio's tomatoes/basil/mozzarella salad.

Travel tips

  • Prepare with a big shopping for a week's stay in Sorrento where they have some big supermarkets.
  • Enjoy a morning cappuccino at the caffe at walking distance to Montepertuso.

June 2013 - Villa Violaciocca was even better than our wildest expectations. Everything about it was first-class. But as Englishmen, we did miss our kettle and toaster. We all enjoyed the villa immensely, and Aurelio and Clementina were excellent hosts.

Travel tips

  • Unfortunately we had an elderly lady (my mother-in-law) with us, and the 50 steps from the villa to the carport were a trial.
  • The carport was in a tricky position from the main road, and whenever we returned by car we had to reverse down a long steep slope.
  • It was really nice to have a shop 400 meters away which delivered food to the villa. It was also nice to have transport to Luigi's restaurant with that beautiful view of Positano, and the restaurant up in Montepertuso was very nice too.
  • A car was necessary, but driving anywhere along the Amalfi Coast was a hair-raising experience due to the narrowness and constant bends: and parking anywhere was a nightmare without local knowledge. There was a local bus service into Positano, but trying to work out times from the timetable provided in the villa proved beyond us. Because of the difficulties mentioned about driving, we only had one trip out, and that was to Ravello where, amazingly, we found a car park not far from the centre, and we were able to enjoy Ravello very much. Fortunately we enjoyed just being at the villa, with its lovely pool and lovely sun terrace with its gorgeous view over Positano and the islands in the bay. Wow!!

August 2012 - Villa Violaciocca is wonderful. The only drawback is the location in the hills of Montepertuso which is great for the restaurants but not so good for the town itself. A car would be useful but then you have nowhere to park in Positano.

It is beautifully furnished and decorated and the pool is a real bonus. The local owners are very friendly and visit almost daily - sometimes bringing figs, tomatoes and eggs. In fact, they even bought an electric coffee-maker when we weren't sure how to use the Italian espresso maker. The pool was cleaned and the patio swept regularly. They couldn't do enough for us.

It's peaceful and quiet and we had a wonderfully relaxing week. We were very sorry to leave.

Thank you Summer In Italy. I know we had a bit of an issue with the last-minute change of booking but you were very good to us and Villa Violaciocca lived up to its description. We had a wonderful family holiday.

Travel tips

  • Figure out whether to hire a car or take a risk with the buses. Then again, taxis are reasonable and of course the restaurants will pick you up and the Delikatessen in Positano is happy to deliver.
  • Restaurant Da Costantino is local, family-owned and very good indeed.
