Very good

September 2023 - The hosts were absolutely wonderful. Always discreet and hospitable in the Italian time honoured manner with Sunday gifts of pastries. Any minor problem was dealt with quickly and with good humour. In all aspects an above average stay.

Summer In Italy was a great experience all around. Always a timely response to questions and great patience. I look forward to a long relationship with Summer In Italy. Luca you are the best!

Bigger than we expected

October 2022 - Villa Ludovica was much more bigger than we expected, and everything had been thought about. The villa was sparkling clean with the added extra touches.

Would definitely recommend

Travel tips

  • Excellent location with just a small walk to the town
  • There is a supermarket, fish and fruit shops and a bakery nearby.

It provides everything you need

September 2022 - It was situated well inside and outside. Easy to get to. Beds are a bit hard but these are typical in Italy and you just have to embrace it. It provides everything you need. Very clean.

Your inventory was exceptional and booking through you very easy.

Travel tips

  • So many day trip options you won't be bored.
  • Restaurant K in San Marco di Castellabate was excellent.

Excellent

September 2022 - The property is very spacious. Villa Ludovica, as other guests have remarked, is very well equipped. The pool is an excellent size for swimming and well maintained.

The location is perfect for exploring the Cilento, the historic sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Paestum with sandy beaches within walking distance.

You have been very quick to respond and your advice on renting properties in Italy has us all in fits of laughter! I have to admit I booked with you because I was searching for a villa with pool in Santa Maria di Castellabate and it was the only one that came up. Having said that we have been very pleased with Summer In Italy service.

Travel tips

  • The local shops at the end of the drive provide everything you need to prepare meals. The local Conad Supermarket is very good. The frutta e verdura shop opposite is of good quality and the fish shop down the road excellent.
  • When exploring the villages of the Cilento make sure you have a detailed map as it's very easy to go round in circles! Apps may not work if they require Internet.
  • There are plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance to choose from if you don't want to cook. Restaurant I Due Fratelli (fish restaurant) is superb.

Our second visit, terrific location

August 2022 - Our second visit. We have loved staying. My young boys in particular. The location is terrific and the hosts very discreet. The pool is fab and the house extremely spacious. We also enjoyed the piano and the large tv.

Summer In Italy have always been amazing. Really efficient, prompt and helpful. Very understanding during Covid times.

Travel tips

  • The villa is in a terrific location. Just a few minutes' walk from a supermarket, 15 minutes from the town centre and 20 to the beach! All on foot.
  • Santa Maria di Castellabate is nearby and has spectacular views from restaurants.
  • The beach is wonderful with several beach-front restaurants on it and well organised parasols etc. for hire.
  • The Greek Temples of Paestum and the Excavations of Pompeii are unique.

What a wonderful place

August 2022 - Villa Ludovica is a wonderful place to stay. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and is in a great, secure location.

The pool is just fantastic, and the kids especially loved it - a great size, clean, lovely terrace area surrounding it and with great views over the fig trees to the sea. Ilenia and her family were very welcoming.

The nearby towns are great - especially Santa Maria and Castellabate - and we really enjoyed exploring.

We would love to stay here again.

Excellent

May 2022 - This is a very large apartment in a villa where the owners live above. It would easily accommodate 3 couples or a large family.

The villa has the best equipped kitchen I have ever seen. Top quality pots and pans - everything you need.

The outside area is around a pool (shared with the owners) but we were there in a cold week so did not use that area. We used the terrace by the front door, which had very nice furnishings.

Travel tips

  • It is a 5 minutes walk to a vegetable shop and cafe, 10 minutes to the Despar shop (grocery shop).
  • You could walk to the beach or into town but we drove in and parked.
  • There are many interesting towns nearby to visit. Santa Maria di Castellabate is a lovely town, the nicest in this area I think.
  • We enjoyed walking on the seaside promenade.
  • We had several good meals in restaurants in the area.

We had an excellent stay at Villa Ludovica

October 2019 - As a family of five (2 adults, 3 kids) we had an excellent stay at Villa Ludovica. Spacious accommodation, very clean, and kitchen well stocked with everything, or even more, a family needs. Very secure with plenty of parking. Good size, very clean pool and great outdoor spaces.

We highly recommend Villa Ludovica for location, amenities and space. It was our seventh visit to Santa Maria di Castellabate and we have to be honest, this villa is the best we found until now.

Warm welcome by Ilenia although we were late. Ilenia and her family were extremely friendly and relaxed. There is nothing to improve! Everything is perfect and well kept! Thanks a lot to Ilenia and her family and to Summer In Italy too!

Communication with Summer In Italy prior to arrival was exceptional, clear and fast! Perfect! Thanks a a lot!

We had a wonderful week

September 2019 - We had a wonderful week at Villa Ludovica. The villa itself is spacious and the facilities are excellent. The view over the sea is beautiful and the swimming pool is kept clean.

The owners were extremely kind and thoughtful.

I thought Summer In Italy service was excellent and the information was very helpful, particularly in terms of getting to the villa.

Travel tips

  • A car is necessary.
  • There are lots of great restaurants in town and I would strongly recommend the shop selling cups of seafood by the beach.

The perfect place to relax

September 2019 - Spacious and well appointed villa for a friendly and relaxing holiday.

Great welcome by Ilenia [the owner] with tour of the villa. Spacious accommodation, very clean and kitchen well stocked with everything a family needs. Very secure with plenty of parking. Good size pool and great outdoor spaces.

Ilenia and her family were extremely friendly. Our grandchildren even had free swimming instruction.

We highly recommend this villa for location, amenities and space.

Communication with Summer In Italy prior to arrival was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. We booked this villa because it had a swimming pool and as we are a family of 9 with 4 grandchildren it was perfect. We would go back. Thank you for all you help.

  • Go to Castellabate the views are beautiful.

You could not ask for more!

August 2019 - Such a beautiful villa. There were 5 adults in our party and we never felt crowded or in one another's space. The villa was immaculate and had everything you could ask for. Amazing pool area with lovely terraces and plenty of sun beds and shade when necessary. Incredible kitchen area with all modern appliances. The separate utility room was fantastic - we made good use of the washing machine while we were there. All bedrooms was very comfortable and there were three bathrooms - never had to wait to use the bathroom!! All in all a little piece of paradise - you could not ask for more!

Ilenia and her family were so welcoming and we couldn't have picked a nicer place for our holiday. The villa is incredible and Ilenia does everything to make sure her guests are well catered for. She is beyond friendly and we loved staying in her beautiful home. Thank you Ilenia!

Summer In Italy is an excellent company - lots of communication and answers to queries were prompt and efficient. Will definitely recommend and use again in the future. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • Car hire is essential. Plenty of space to park at Villa Ludovica though.
  • Loved visiting Pompeii and Paestum and we went to Casal Velino to horse ride for the morning. Had a great time!

Enjoyed very much

September 2018 - We enjoyed Villa Ludovica very much. The accommodation was excellent. Location was very nice. We enjoyed the walk into the town.

Ilenia [the owner] was lovely, friendly. She was like part of the family.

Summer In Italy has been extremely helpful to us and always replied to our emails almost overnight. I will be looking at the Summer In Italy next year. Thank you to all the staff. Ciao.

Travel tips

  • One of our favourite place was Castellabate, but all the towns were very nice.
  • You need a car to explore the area well.
  • The restaurants were very good. Our best restaurant was Pizzeria Punta dell'Inferno.
  • The shops that sold food were very good but if you needed to buy a piece of clothing that wasn't so good.

Excellent

June 2018 - Magic stay at Villa Ludovica.

Excellent and very spacious accommodation.

Lovely family. Nice to have the opportunity to interact with an Italian family if you want to - gives the stay an extra dimension.

Keep up the excellent hospitality and standards.

Travel tips

  • Lovely walk each evening into the very beautiful & active town centre, mainly full of Italians & not tourists!
  • Get a good hire car from a reputable company & make the most of it to get around.
  • Lots of potential for damage to your car - especially around Naples! Upon returning the first time used brand new car, the inspection took three laps around the car with the comment "most unusual - there's not a mark on it!"

In short, torn between keeping this place a secret and giving a glowing review!!

August 2016 - Villa Ludovica is charming, modern, fully equipped and the owners/their children absolutely delightful. The rooms are spacious, bathrooms excellent, a bonus dishwasher/laundry room and two sofabeds in the living room which easily accommodated our party of six adults and two children plus two cars.

Ilenia, our host, could not have been more hospitable or kind, rushing our daughter to the Doctor when she was poorly and waiting for several hours. Ilenia - we promised we'll come back and we will!

In short, torn between keeping this place a secret and giving a glowing review!!

Summer In Italy was great. Can't fault it.

Travel tips

  • The kitchen has everything but a decent tin opener so advise to take one... It's an Italian thing!
  • The town is a 20min walk, fine for us but the Grandparents struggled a bit in the heat.
  • Restaurants are ok, very busy in August and IMHO some italian staff were rude/obnoxious whilst others were quite lovely - you take your pick!
  • The seaside is great for children but again busy in August expectedly so.
  • A car is essential and be aware that travelling down from Naples is a long journey with road works. It was a 3 hour trip down but less on the way back.
  • A couple of points - food is expensive both in restaurants and in supermarkets (Santa Maria di Castellabate side of Agropoli best but the one at the bottom of the hill to Villa Ludovica was fine).
  • Take jungle formula as zanzare are evil.
  • Paestum is worth a visit but to be fair we saved our trips for when we went for the last part of our holiday in Sorrento... Mainly because we were so relaxed at Villa Ludovica!
  • Someone mentioned the shopping and we'd agree. But if you want nice shops (Mrs S did!) then suggest a car trip to Positano or Sorrento.
