September 2010 - We enjoyed Villa Brenda very much, it was very roomy for three couples and the outdoor area is such a usable space.

The location to town and the bus route was excellent.

The checking in and checking out procedure was also very easy.

The provision of information about how to get to Amalfi was most valuable. Thank you.

Well done to Summer in Italy, your website and email correspondence is so easy to follow. Thank you very much.

Travel tips

  • There is a lovely truck stop/cafe/bar heading north from the villa about 500 metres, perfect for a quick drink or a leisurely pizza evening. The view is spectacular from here.
  • Day trips on the bus which stops outside the villa both ways are so easy, we particularly enjoyed Ravello.
  • We hired a small boat and went to Capri for the day, it was very reasonable and easy to navigate our way, skippers experience necessary though.

October 2008 - We enjoyed Villa Brenda but you really need to update the photos. The "manicured" lawn was over 12" tall and full of weeds - "rustic" yard would be a more suitable description. A guest from 2007 left a note at the villa stating it was in the same condition when they were there.

The view is great, but the house could use a really thorough cleaning (especially the bathroom showers) It was big and roomy, so we never felt like we were tripping over each other.

The location was great for exploring the Amalfi coast and a pleasant walk into town.

Booking with Summer in Italy was a really great experience, you were prompt, professional and answered all the questions. I was confident in using your services. As I stated above a previous renter left a notebook and in it she wrote about how disappointed they were with the appearance compared to the photos, and this was from April 2007. There's nothing wrong with rustic as long as you know your getting rustic.

It seems that no matter how often we remind the owner to mow the grass, there is always a time when the lawn is left to itself, which generates complaints and brings down the general level of the house. Our policy, when we receive complaints that the owners are not able or willing to address, is to remove the house from our portfolio (which explains why nearly all the reviews are positive... we do select and present only the nicest houses to make sure you have an enjoyable stay).

For Villa Brenda, however, some considerations apply: the majority of guests has had an enjoyable stay, because the lawn is mostly kept trimmed; the rental price, for an air-conditioned, see-view villa near Amalfi with 3 bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, makes it an amazing value. It would not be a good service to drop Villa Brenda when the next 3-bedroom/3-bathroom villa costs exactly twice as much!

We think that, as you are presented with the facts, you will be the best judge. And don't forget that if you let us know that the grass need be cut while you are still at the villa, we will be absolutely happy to call the owner to stress the message... We know that you are thinking that this should not be necessary in the first place, but then we fall back to the point where we should remove the villa from the listings and deprive your party of six of an opportunity for an economical way to sleep on the Amalfi Coast!

Travel tips

  • The large burner sometimes "flips" a fuse if the small one is on at the same time - just flip the breaker.
  • Morning coffee at the Piazza in town can be relaxing or eventful depending on the day, but well worth doing.
  • The pizza place 2 minutes walk up the hill is excellent.

October 2008 - The place on a whole was great, the view, close to town, the walk as beautiful!

I would stay there again.

This is my second time using Summer in Italy.

September 2008 - Compared to the reviews for Villa Brenda, the flat was a bit disappointing.

The cleanliness of the flat was poor and the garden was not tended to for a long time. The grass on the lawn was higher than the sunbeds. The location was very good, but the rest I suggest should be corrected for future guests. I do not want to be very negative but have to be honest with regards to the conditions.

In all the stay was OK, but the reviews for the flat beforehand, left us with the impression that the flat had been left without good care for a while.

Travel tips

  • Interesting pizzeria 3 mins. walk up from the flat.
  • Great views from the terrace.

August 2008 - We loved our stay at Villa Brenda. As long as you are not forced to spend the time inside, the garden offers you a lot of room and a beautiful view.

Nice view and not at all disturbed by the traffic despite being so close to the road!

Valet parking is available. EUR 16 per day may turn out to be quite an amount. Nevertheless we were 'happy' about this service rather than having our vehicle demolished...

Good info, good customer service.

June 2008 - We were three couples travelling together in Amalfi. Perfectly sized apartment, with each bedroom having a bathroom, as well as a centralized dining area/kitchen.

Comfortable garden terrace with chaise lounges and beautiful ocean view.

Front bedroom was a little noisy due to street traffic.

Comfortable 15-20 minute walk to Amalfi, with a couple of restaurants on the way if you did not want to walk all the way into town.

Check in/out was easy. Friendly owner walked us through the entire apartment and went over how to operate appliances etc. upon our arrival. Check out only involved leaving keys in designated spot.

Summer in Italy was quite helpful, responded to my emails quickly. I would definitely recommend to any family/friends that they use this company for future rentals.

Travel tips

  • On two nights, we picked up some groceries in Amalfi, stocked up the kitchen and made dinner and sat out on the terrace instead of walking into town.

May 2008 - We loved the location - up the hill from Amalfi, we really enjoyed walking into town and back everyday. We loved the garden overlooking the sea. Even though we could look down on the road - we really enjoyed seeing all that was going on.

Since the living room is combined with the kitchen - it was a little small, but one bedroom is quite large, with a big window and door - overlooking the garden and the sea - so we used it when inside.

Everything went very well for us. We would definitely use Summer in Italy again.

Travel tips

  • We did walk up the hill 100-200 meters and found the gate going down to the beach. You have to look closely, as it looks like it is locked. You should have strong legs - it's 465 stairs down and back up!
  • We took day trips to Positano, Ravello and Pompeii - all were well worth the trip.
  • The drive along the coast is breathtaking in all directions.

March 2008 - We (a group of six adults - 3 married couples) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Brenda. The view was magnificent and the location very convenient.

Although the living room appeared small it was totally adequate as we did all our socialising around the large dining table.

We agreed with previous reviewers who suggested that a few newer saucepans in the kitchen would be appreciated.

Travel tips

  • Parking for the Villa was sometimes difficult but not impossible as the road is narrow and the front door opens onto a corner. We parked our vehicle a little down the hill from the front door.
  • There was an excellent little shop with a terrace above where we enjoyed a coffee each morning, just 5 minutes walk up the road.
  • The 33 steps from the front door up to the villa were steep but manageable.

July 2007 - We thoroughly enjoyed Villa Brenda.

The location was really good not far from the village.

Bus stop immediately outside with buses running every 10mins.

The view was breathtaking and the weather wonderful.

Decided to book Villa Brenda after seeing it online. We found Summer in Italy very helpful and would recommend them to our friends.

June 2007 - Villa Brenda was wonderful.

It was the perfect place to take two small children as the terrace was safe, grassy and sunny.

I will definitely be back.

Travel tips

  • Use the bus into town. It is very easy and inexpensive.
  • I also loved jogging into town to the grocery store, but this would be difficult with a family.
  • The beach below, either by elevator or stairs was so beautiful [please note that the elevator is private beach and that it might not be accessible].

June 2007 - We loved Villa Brenda - the views were spectacular and the accommodation very good.

The entire house was clean and well kept and apart from a temperamental fridge had no complaints at all about the house.

Great service from Summer in Italy, wold definitely book through you again.

Travel tips

  • House was within walking distance of Amalfi, but would be a lot easier to get the bus from the nearby stop. Tickets need to be bought from shops or bars though.
  • Fantastic restaurant in driving distance Ristorante Pesce D'Oro at Vettica - they did an excellent meal for 18 at very short notice.
  • Good food store on drive up to Furore.

June 2007 - We really loved our week at Villa Brenda because the house was clean, bright and large enough for our group of 6 adults, with 3 beautiful bathrooms, bedrooms and a living room. The kitchen would be greatly improved by a couple of new saucepans.

From the garden we had a beautiful view of the coast. The location was quiet and secure and for those who enjoy walking, a very scenic 20 minute walk into the town of Amalfi. Walking home uphill may be a bit much for some people, but there is a bus.

A very enjoyable place to stay.

We are already telling lots of people about Summer In Italy because we found your staff and website to be outstanding. By far better than any other companies we have dealt with. We appreciate your prompt replies, clear instructions, and the accurate property descriptions. Thank you for a great holiday.

Travel tips

  • Concerts in the evenings at Ravello - tickets can be pre booked on net.

May 2007 - The view was spectacular, but because it is located on the main coastal road, it can be noisy.

April 2007 - The views where stunning. The garden was lovely. The beds where extremely comfortable.

It was a good location for exploring Amalfi by foot. It was very quiet at night, during the day it was at times noisy when sitting in the garden, or with the windows open, because it was above the main road. This was the only thing that was a bit unpleasant -- we really enjoyed everything else about our stay. Our host was very helpful.

Thank you for your hospitality.

March 2007 - We were delighted with the villa itself and with the assistance we received.

The location is lovely and we enjoyed the walking. Perhaps we'll have to return!

I found your web site very thorough and easy to use. Summer in Italy has many rentals to pick from and an excellent range in prices. When I contacted you with e-mail questions, you were prompt in replying and extremely helpful. I have already recommended this site to a friend.

Travel tips

  • You'll be in for a bit of walking, so be prepared with comfortable shoes.
  • The walk to and from Amalfi is great exercise, but be mindful of the traffic and narrow roads. There is not always a walkway and this spooked my daughter at times.
  • The walking trails above Amalfi are gorgeous, but be prepared.
  • The kitchen is quite adequate. We prepared several meals in house with local ingredients. Delicious!

November 2006 - Villa Brenda was a wonderful place to stay. Your summary and description of the Villa was very accurate.

We arrived at almost midnight and were still guided to the Villa by the owner on his moped!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I think it all went well and appreciated the professionalism. I have recommended you to friends.

Travel tips

  • We rented a car because we were a group of five... so that worked out well for us and there is adequate free street parking right by the Villa.
  • Bus service is frequent and reliable along the coast.

Unfortunately, Villa Brenda can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
