Peaceful and serene

September 2019 - Apartment Le Rose 7 is peaceful and serene, situated in a beautiful spot. We appreciated the extra touches of hospitality - pool, laundry room (and detergent), fragrant and colorful gardens to explore and a taste of limoncello!

I enjoyed running up and down the hill for my morning stretch and exercise.

Overall, out stay was pleasant! Grazie!

Very good

July 2015 - We loved the terrace - it was huge and we shared it with our friends each night to have our dinners and some drinks. The kids were also able to play a very tiny soccer match up there. The pool is fantastic and we were so very thankful we chose a property with a pool as it was quite hot in July and we would have been miserable after hiking around all the hills and walking all of the towns if we were not able to cool off in the pool each day. The bedrooms were very large. The shower water pressure was very low and the bottom of the shower filled up which was pretty gross. We were eaten alive by mosquitoes, we kept the apartment closed up tight most of the time to keep them out but we were all eaten alive in our sleep.

Summer In Italy customer service is TOP NOTCH and I have recommended your services to ALL of our friends! You are amazing - do NOT change a thing. We changed our mind on our original villa you were very understanding and worked with us to help us find exactly what we wanted. You were also very knowledgeable about the towns. Also, your website has the very best photos and the most thorough information about each villa we looked into. GREAT JOB!!!!! Thank you!

Travel tips

  • Bring bug spray.
  • Stop on your way to the apartment and buy essentials (like: toilet paper, salt, pepper, oil, coffee) along with anything else you would like to cook.
  • 100% hike or take a cab up to Ravello, amazing views.
  • It is very easy to walk down to Atrani and Amalfi.
  • Rent a boat in Atrani for a day, right next to the beach, and go all the way to Capri and explore the places in between - it was a very good price.
  • Restaurants in Atrani are very good.

July 2013 - We had a wonderful stay in Apartment Le Rose 7 and would highly recommend it! Beautiful location and views, gorgeous accommodation which is decorated in traditional Italian style. Lovely pool and terraces.

Wonderful experience. No complaints at all.

Travel tips

  • It is quite a trek to the nearest shops and restaurants, so perhaps not the best place for the elderly or infirm.
  • I would recommend car hire as public transport is a nightmare and taxis are very expensive.
  • All of that said, the wonderful accommodation and setting made it very worthwhile and we hope to return!

July 2012 - Apartment Le Rose 7 was beautiful!

Travel tips

  • Make sure you bring some staples. There is no large supermarket near by and if you arriving late on Saturday it is very hard to find somewhere open locally to buy food so pick it up on the trip down. We were told there was something open in Ravello when we arrived but I had a nightmare driving round the place as the roads are daunting and only managed to find a butcher.
  • Take a powerboat out for a day - really easy to drive and fantastic fun.

June 2011 - Fantastic setting, villa interior a bit basic.

Double bed really too firm.

About local food shops: walk down to Atrani to find local shops or halfway up towards Ravello where there is a small supermarket tucked under the cliff.

August 2010 - Wow what a great location! After a fairly hairy (winding hairpin bends for an hour accompanied by fast Italian drivers) and an absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful drive from Rome to Amalfi we arrived to the beauty and tranquility of Casa Settima set in the rock-side valley beneath Ravello and above Atrani.

The setting was perfect for us. We could chill out at the villa, swim in the pool, enjoy the church bells, the terraces of lemon trees, visit nearby Pompeii, Paestum, Ravello, chill out more at the villa and cool off in the pool.

We loved the small town of Atrani that was buzzing with character and life and were lucky to be in the midst of two festivals which both climaxed with amazing and the loudest firework display from the rocks in the bay. Special. Well worth the 400 or so steps there and back!

You were great... friendly, prompt, helpful. The information relating to Casa Settima was accurate and the previous reviews very helpful. I wish every travel company were like you. Excellent service at every level. A BIG English thank you from Brighton.

Travel tips

  • You need to be fit to manage a daily walk to and from Atrani and having a hire car allowed us some freedom. You get used to the roads and can soon become an Italian driver!
  • We bit the bullet and walked up the hillside steps to Ravello. It was hard work and took us over an hour but walking through and up the valley was well worth it and the views were great.
  • The caretaker Mr Nicola doesn't speak English however we were able to find ways of communicating and try out our very limited Italian!

July 2010 -

The villa itself is a typical holiday villa. The living area/kitchen was fine but is not designed for spending time in.

Signor Nicola [the caretaker] is very nice and hard working.

Inspite of some reservations, we would still highly recommend it. We loved being at Casa Settima. Excellent location away from the busy, noisy areas more directly on coast.

Summer in Italy for us was efficient, friendly and helpful. Everything went smoothly, would use you again based on this holiday experience.

Travel tips

  • Head for Amalfi. Here you will find most things you need to set you up, for example a good fruit and vegetable shop and superb patisserie. Also you can book boat trips, etc.
  • We also loved Ravello for its calm, elegant beauty and stunning views.

August 2009 - The position was gorgeous. Being up away from the town overlooking the valley and down to the sea just made it.

The property is beautifully cared for, clean, tidy and very nicely laid out. Having the pool was fantastic especially if you'd just walked up from the town!! It was nice to be on holiday with a mix of Italians and people from abroad.

The place felt very Italian and authentic which we enjoyed.

It was lovely to be off the tourist trap and be with a lot of locals who were very warm and generous especially if you had a go at speaking Italian.

As a family we agreed it was one of the nicest holidays we had had.

It was great having you there to ask questions before we left and you were very helpful about transport etc. Very prompt replies. Would definitely recommend your service and would use you again.

Travel tips

  • We didn't have a car so there were a few things that made things difficult. The first thing that happened after a very long time traveling was that we got dropped off at the entrance to Casa Settima but then had to walk down a very long steep and winding drive with all our luggage. If you can, get the taxi driver to take you right down to your accommodation.
  • Anyone who was not very mobile would not do well as there are steps or steep slopes everywhere. Very little children with push chairs etc would not enjoy it.
  • You could easily walk into the town which is a 10 min walk down the old steps but it was very hot work walking back up 457 steps! I would definitely recommend getting to know the bus system which other guests had got the hang of to avoid the walk back up.
  • Easy to walk to Amalfi (15 mins) which is where you'll get information about trips (no information on trips or buses etc at accommodation which was a pity).
  • We went to Pompeii and Vesuvius (extremely worth the trip) and Capri which was enough for us.
  • It was difficult to use Visa/MasterCard so take some cash.
  • Atrani was great for food, eating out, beach - you didn't need to go to Amalfi.
  • One person had hired a car but said it was nerve racking and once he'd arrived didn't have the nerve to venture out again for a few days. Made getting around much easier for them though.

August 2009 - The setting of Casa Settima is beautiful; the garden, pool and terraces are well kept, and there are stunning views across the valley. It is all very peaceful and the only disturbance was the crickets and fireworks from the Ravello festival!

It is 450 steps down to Atrani where there is a bustling square, some great restaurants and a small beach (busy in August).

Although we visited in the height of summer, the lack of air conditioning was not a problem and the BBQ area next to the villa was unused (two concerns I had before I left).

We were well cared for by the owner who remains unobtrusive and we frequently had the pool to ourselves.

It was all very easy to book and I was impressed by how quickly you responded to any enquiries!

Travel tips

  • The 450 steps back up to the villa from Atrani are not for the faint hearted!
  • Parking was essential but the drive down to the villa is very steep -- hire a small car!

September 2008 - I rented Casa Settima as a surprise holiday for 4 members of my family. They all really loved the apartment and the area.

The only comment was that the communal BBQ area was close to the Casa Settima terrace, during the stay the other apartments were not occupied as it was the end of the summer season so there was no problem, but the guests felt that if the other guests were using the BBQ area it could be a bit too close to the Casa Settima terrace.

The apartment was really well supplied, there was even a kettle! The only comment was that maybe a microwave could be useful.

I found Summer in Italy to be fantastic, always quick to reply and with great, accurate advice. Luca and Andrea were super and I would recommend them highly. What you see is really what you get, there are no surprises once you arrive at your destination. Their attention to detail, availability and information is spot on, bravo!

Travel tips

  • Watch out for all the steps down to the village! The tip is to take the steps down and get the bus back up to the Villa.
  • Claudio Lucibello of Amalfi Coast Car Service was great, very understanding about late arrivals at the airport!
  • The local shops were good and the staff very friendly, but apparently some of the staff in local restaurants were not the friendliest.
  • The Summer in Italy site gives arrival and check-out times, but if you will be outside these times just let them know and there is no problem. Our party arrived with 3 hours delay, Claudio picked them up and rang the owner to let them know the arrival time, what a super service, you could not ask for more.

July 2008 - We enjoyed our week at Casa Settima very much indeed.

We did not appreciate quite how far out of Atrani it was by road - but that was our fault as we had decided not to hire a car this year and ended up with a taxi - no big deal. After that, the walk down into the village was great after the initial shock (I had ruptured my Achilles tendon in March and it had healed, but the steps made good physiotherapy!!) and we used the shops and restaurants in Atrani and Amalfi a great deal.

The pool was excellent, well maintained and quiet.

One thing that did disappoint us - the kitchen cupboards were completely bare - we are used to arriving at self catering homes and finding at least some olive oil, herbs, perhaps some ground coffee. We had to buy everything the next day knowing that anything left would be thrown out at the end of our week.

However, we liked the house, the village and the area and would return.

We love your style and way of describing things - don't change! Refreshing and honest compared to so many others.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared to buy the kitchen essentials such as oil, salt/pepper etc. when you arrive.
  • No sharp knives are supplied, we always take our own, sad but true.
  • Recommend Restaurant Le Palme in the village along with the range of other shops - far better stock, quality and prices than the tourist traps of Amalfi.

August 2007 - We had a great week at Casa Settima.

The villa is located closer to Atrani than Ravello, which is a good thing for a family, as the access to the beach was good (only a few hundred steps).

The pool was great and the small number of apartments meant we had it to ourselves often.

Nicola, the on-site manager, was particularly helpful and friendly.

Travel tips

  • Being a family of 6, we needed an MPV to transport ourselves and our bags, but were given a minibus (Renault Trafic) by the car hire company. This worked out OK everywhere but the switchback road down to the apartments. I would advise you to refuse such a vehicle in favour of a proper MPV if possible.
  • The walk to Amalfi via Atrani piazza is easy enough to do even with a small child, but I'd advise getting a taxi back. Always negotiate the rate with the driver first - we got charged anything from EUR 20 to EUR 35 for the same trip.

Travel tips

  • The walk from Atrani to Amalfi, starting from the Piazza Umberto, is wonderful. The walk takes 15 minutes.
  • The walk down from Ravello to Amalfi is lovely too.
  • Check out the drawings by Escher done in 1931, before you arrive in Amalfi, and try to spot where he drew them from.
  • I would recommend TIM cards to all guests using mobile phones, but mine did take two days to activate. I bought one in Amalfi.

June 2006 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return to Casa Settima. Our dilemma is that there is so much more of Italy for us to see. Do we book again or try somewhere new?

Casa Settima was a delightful base. A terrific position for us to explore the Amalfi coast.

We took a gamble with Summer In Italy after finding you following an internet search. I think your service has been first rate. Your correspondence has been reassuring and it has been comforting to know you would reply to email queries.

Casa Settima, was just as you showed it on your site. Thank you. We have already recommended you to friends.
