Amazing view

August 2018 - Amazing view. Clean and comfortable. Steps to the property were not a problem for us.

Travel tips

  • We only used buses to move around and left the cars in the garage all week. There is no need of a car in Amalfi Coast.

One of our best stays

July 2016 - This was one of the best stays in Praiano we have had so far.

The kitchen was stocked with wine and limoncello, and the view from the porch was out of this world.

We loved looking out toward Positano, Li Galli, and Capri, and the view of the church of Praiano's, San Gennaro, was stunning. Every morning and every evening we sat there and had wonderful family time with an amazing view.

Adriana [the owner] even arranged taxi service to Naples airport for my son (he left early to Pamplona) and boat trips for us to Capri.

What made it great was the view and our hostess Adriana, who was there for us for whatever we needed, and she made sure we were comfortable.

Travel tips

  • Prepare for some stairs before you go, but its a great workout! After a few days you are used to it.
  • Rent from Summer in Italy. They are wonderful and have the best host/hostesses. I only say this because of 10 years experience with them. They are the BEST.

October 2014 - House Il Giardino Eden is an excellent apartment, with stunning views to Positano and Capri.

Travel tips

  • We hired a car, but used it only to get from Naples Airport and to Paestum.
  • Driving the coast road is fun, in a way, but it would be very easy to hand a hire car back with many dents from the close shaves on the narrow hairpins.
  • Parking is a huge challenge (except at the apartment where we arranged a space for the week).
  • On balance, just get the bus.

Very good

September 2014 - House Il Giardino Eden met our expectations in regard to the splendid view it offers from the terrace and the attractiveness of the space.

The apartment is spacious and more than adequate for 2 couples. We knew that reaching it required managing 126 steps but that is life on the Amalfi Coast.

Adriana [the caretaker] met us the meeting point, helped us to reach House Il Giardino Eden and subsequently assisted us with other matters we raised with her.

We enjoyed our stay and were happy with the service provided by Summer In Italy.

Travel tips

  • We didn't have a car so were reliant on the SITA buses. The problem is that Praiano is not an end station and therefore at certain times of the day it is hard to get a seat. Standing up is not a lot of fun. Pick travel times carefully.
  • The local bus which is small is very good.
  • Suggest spending time at Marina di Praia Beach and eating at Restaurant Il Pirata.
  • Bar del Sole is well run and a fun place.

Fantastic

July 2014 - We really enjoyed our stay at House Il Giardino Eden.

The apartment was very clean (we were very impressed with how clean and tidy it was) and it was nice have the air conditioning because it was quite hot while we were there. The view is amazing!

Adriana, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. We arrived in the evening and she left us some fresh eggs from her chickens for our breakfast the next morning. She also recommended us some things to do in Praiano, including a boat tour to Capri.

We would definitely consider booking with Summer In Italy again if we will return to Italy. They were very professional, responded to our questions quickly and the apartment was exactly as described on the web site.

Travel tips

  • The boat tour to Capri was amazing, one of our favorite things during the stay.
  • There is a small grocery store right at the bottom of the steps where you can get everything you need for meals and drinks.
  • Steps up to the apartment are a bit of a challenge when you first arrive (especially when you are carrying luggage) but by the end of the week they weren't a problem!

Very good

September 2013 - We did enjoy House Il Giardino Eden and were pleased that we stayed in Praiano which was not as busy as Positano or Amalfi.

Everything that we needed was just at the bottom of the steps (all 128 of them!) and the local shopkeepers were friendly and helpful.

The apartment was clean and pleasantly comfortable and all that we required for self catering was provided. The Wifi connection was excellent.

Mrs Adriana [the owner] was pleasant and helpful and available if we needed her.

You have provided us with a good service - thank you.

Travel tips

  • You need to be fit to handle the steps. Not just up to House Il Giardino Eden but all over the Amalfi Coast, but your reward will be the lovely views.
  • If you are going to do anything requiring physical activity our advice is to get up early and get going before the sun comes over the hill and it gets really hot (this is in September).
  • The Path of the Gods is easily accessible from Praiano and the views from the pathway were fantastic. We did it over two days going east to Bomerano and looping back to Praiano one day and going west to Positano the other.

August 2013 - The views from the balcony are incredible - it was like being in a film set! We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful location.

The weather was extremely hot so the air conditioning was a real bonus. The house is lovely and spotlessly clean.

Adriana, the owner, was very helpful, happy to book restaurants for us and kept us supplied with delicious fresh figs straight from her tree.

The only downside was the steps - we realised how unfit we are!!! However the view made the climb more than worthwhile. We would highly recommend House Il Giardino Eden and hope to return one day.

Thank you to Summer in Italy for providing a great service. We would certainly book with you again.

Travel tips

  • We enjoyed visiting the local bar - Bar De Sole. The staff were very friendly and it has a good atmosphere.
  • Our favourite restaurant was Bar Vivaro - the owner does everything himself. There is no menu and everything is cooked to order - the wines are great too!

May 2013 - The location is excellent. Everything one needs is nearby (shops, restaurants, etc.). The view from the deck is simply stunning. We spent a lot of our time relaxing on the deck taking in the view. The villa was very comfortable and contained everything that we needed to make our stay pleasant.

The owner (Mrs. Adriana) was very kind and helpful. When we arrived, she met us and helped us with our bags up the stairs. Then, she told us to relax on the deck and brought us all cold water to drink. She also helped us with tour/taxi bookings and local advice. We knew that if we had any problem (which we did not) that she would be there to help us.

Summer in Italy was excellent to deal with. Everything was clearly explained and the arrangements were easy to follow. Above all, there were no surprises. We would use Summer in Italy for future stays in Italy.

Travel tips

  • Be in good shape and pack light. There are stairs and hills everywhere. We walked and hiked through much of our stay.
  • We really enjoyed walking the Path of the Gods and doing day trips via SITA bus to the nearby towns.
  • Make sure that you make a trip to Paestum and to Capri.

October 2012 - We had a 3-week stay at House Il Giardino Eden last September and enjoyed it absolutely!

The villa is very clean, light and spacious will beautiful dome-like ceilings, each (each!) room has a sea view.

The terrace is a real treat: it has a dining table and a bbq which we enjoyed almost each night; a couple of sun chairs and sun beds (enough for all guests). Besides the terrace has as well a superb direct sea view.

Fresh meat and poultry, fish, grocery store, taxi, bus stop - all very close, just 120 steps down (very close as you meet quite a lot of steps anywhere in Praiano).

The nearest beach is 120+330 steps from villa (mind that you need to go 330 steps to the beach irrespectively of where you stay, so the location of House Il Giardino Eden is only 120 steps up from the central square where the road to the beach begins, really very close).

Adriana, the host, is remarkably helpful!!! She lives downstairs and at your disposal at any moment. Adriana showed us everything we needed (shops, beach, restaurants, etc.), she can also help with some guided tours, renting a boat, etc. if you ask.

Very highly recommended!

Travel tips

  • Trattoria San Gennaro - very tasty local food, big portions, you can take 1 to share as they are really big!
  • Gennaro, taxi owner (just downstairs) - good prices, friendly attitude, child car seats available. If you go to Positano, ask to stop at the top of the town, not down to the beach and you'll pay Eur 20 instead of Eur 35. Call Praiano taxi when you go from Positano to Praiano as it's cheaper than Positano taxi.
  • Nearby grocery, meat and fish shops are excellent. Fish is open 9-12 am. If you can't find at the grocery something you need, ask the owner, he can find and bring it to you.

September 2012 - We had a fabulous stay at House Il Giardino Eden. There was plenty of space for us and our two children and we just loved everything about it.

The views were spectacular and although the 127 odd steps from the street were taxing, they were worth it.

We would go back again anytime.

Travel tips

  • Take baggage that is easy to carry up all these steel stairs... i.e. as little as possible and smaller lighter bags rather than heavy large cases.

June 2012 - House Il Giardino Eden is beautiful beyond words. The owner, Adriana, has made both inside and outside lovely and comfortable and her kindness and concern for her guests made it feel like home.

Inside is large and immaculately clean, with outside spaces for shade or sun and changing views of sea and gardens. Everything that you would need is there for your convenience so that you can just sit back with wine in hand and look out on the wonder that is Praiano.

As for Praiano -- it is the perfect place. It has everything to offer a traveller who wants to feel that they belong somewhere, if only for a brief time. All the towns on the coast are so beautiful, but Praiano is more than just fabulous views and deep history... it is like a hometown even to strangers. Every shop and restaurant keeper is helpful, warm, and friendly. Visit Amalfi, Capri, Positano and Ravello -- but stay in Praiano (at the House Il Giardino Eden).

Summer in Italy, their site and all their representatives are so helpful and thorough in providing information one needs when travelling in Italy. I would advise all to plan their trip with Summer in Italy.

Travel tips

  • There are wonderful food markets and shops steps away -- with owners who are caring and helpful.
  • Locals around the fountain say Buon Giorno or Buona Sera to morning and evening.
  • Bar de Sole for morning capuccino and gelato, smiles and beautiful views anytime.
  • Trattoria San Gennaro and Hotel Smeraldo -- lovely family run places for delicious food, kind service, and views.
  • RE-JEWELS for beautiful handmade "art" pieces by father and son.
  • Little shop next to the market in Piazzetta for Praiano pottery.
  • Visit the churches... especially San Gennaro (the one you look out on).
  • Tour the town with a student.
  • See Le Praia.
  • Take the first steps on Walk of God to the The Convent of San Domenico...
  • Be joyful for the chance to be there...

June 2012 - We had a perfectly, lovely time at House Il Giardino Eden.

Our hostess, Mrs. Adriana, was wonderful and very helpful. She left us a delicious lemon cake! She was never intrusive but we always knew she was there if we needed anything.

The view is outstanding and the church bells chime every 15 minutes, which we loved.

The town is quaint and quiet (except for all the cheering when the soccer team scores!) The restaurant, Hotel Smeraldo, offers stunning views and wonderful food. The location is excellent for day trips to Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii, Ravello and Amalfi. We fell in love with the whole coast.

Everyone is very helpful and emails promptly to any questions or concerns. We hope to make a return trip to the coast in a few years.

Travel tips

  • Sorrento had the best prices on linen clothing and leather.
  • Praiano has a wonderful market that we used everyday with good prices. The people are very nice and speak good English for the most part.
  • We fell in love with Ravello, particularly Villa Rufolo.

January 2012 - House Il Giardino Eden is a slice o heaven on Earth. Don't be daunted by the steps. In a couple of days you get used to them. The climb is worth the breathtaking view of the sea you get from all the rooms and of course the terrace.

The owner Mrs Adriana is extremely nice. She got her mother to give us cooking classes. We learnt to make pasta. We had fun. Adriana gave us a barbecue and we had a cook out one night.

Travel tips

  • There is a small Alimentari just before you start climbing the steps, where you can buy all kinds of fresh produce dairy. Pretty much everything you need for cooking. Have fun.
  • Just as you get on to the road you will find the Sita bus stop hardly 2 minutes from the last step.
  • The free wi-fi was a big bonus and we could use our laptops/tablets to search for places to see, booking online tickets etc.
  • There are a few restaurants in the village. In fact there is one right across the road that does very good home style pizzas and pastas.
  • Keep at least one day each for trip to Capri and Pompeii. Spend a whole day at Amalfi town and do all your nick knack souvenir shopping here. Amalfi town is very atmospheric and lively.
  • Have fun, the Amalfi coast is lovely and Praiano is a lovely sleepy little town where only sound you hear is the sea, birds chirping and toll of the Cathedral bell!! !The environment sings. There are no noises here.

September 2011 - We loved our stay at House Il Giardino Eden!

We stayed there in September 2011 and had a great time. You have everything you need at the bottom of the stairs, grocer, butcher, gelato, bus, etc.

Travel tips

  • Make a list before going to get your groceries, don't want to have to go back to pick up something you forgot.
  • There's a fish market in town as well but they are only open early in the morning.
  • Free wi-fi is great.

August 2011 - We had a wonderful time. The photos do not do the view justice.

It was great to be located between Positano and Amalfi - close enough to enjoy them without being nearly as busy.

Great website and am really happy how everything worked so smoothly.

Travel tips

  • Praiano is a great location.
  • The steps up to the villa seem a bit daunting at first but get easier over time, and the view is worth it once you get there.
  • The local shops were well-stocked and the local pizza place was excellent.
  • If you do drive then you need to reserve a parking space - a smaller car is easier to navigate on the roads if you can get away with it.
  • Pompeii is amazing and is an easy day trip and we also did a longer trip to Paestum (both by car). If we could only do one thing I would say Pompeii.
  • We enjoyed the day trip to Capri but more for the boat ride and swim in the ocean than Capri itself.

July 2011 - We loved Praiano and House Il Giardino Eden. House Il Giardino Eden is in a perfect location with an alimentari (groceries etc.), tourist office, meat market, tabacchi (bus tickets), bar/cafe (gelato, cafe lattes, croissants) and bus stop, plus restaurants all a short distance from the bottom of the stairs leading to the casa.

The outdoor living space including the large, partially shaded terrace, garden with lemon trees and flowers and view were especially noteworthy.

After visiting Positano and Amalfi (which were much more 'touristy'), we were glad we had chosen to stay in Praiano, because we felt more like residents than tourists.

We were very happy with the ease of booking House Il Giardino Eden. We would definitely book with Summer in Italy again as well as recommend the company to our friends. I appreciated all the details about the accommodations, which allowed us to choose the best one for us. We found House Il Giardino Eden to be exactly as shown on the website.

Travel tips

  • One highlight of our stay was the hike from Praiano to Positano on the Path of the Gods (we returned by bus to Praiano). The views were spectacular and the trail was challenging with lots of uphill walking, then down many stairs into Positano. Plenty of drinking water is essential, especially during hot weather as is getting an early start.
  • The 120+ stairs leading to House Il Giardino Eden should be considered by older or less fit guests. We (56+ years old and semi-fit to fit) were not hindered by them, but thought that some of our friends and family who might enjoy House Il Giardino Eden, would not be able to access it due to knee, breathing, etc. issues.
  • Check with the tourist office or watch for signs near the bus stop regarding SITA bus strikes and then plan around the irregular/non-existent service that occurs when a strike is on. The Praiano/Positano bus was not affected by the strike that occurred during our visit.

May 2011 - House Il Giardino Eden was a delight. It was everything we could have wished for. Bright and very spacious with a huge outside terrace that provided an awesome panorama across the water and over to Positano.

We were very pleased with our choice of Praiano as it was less touristy than Positano and Amalfi and you felt more part of the local community.

I would use Summer in Italy again. The details and pictures of the apartment were accurate and there were no disappointments. I was impressed by your quick response when asked a question by email. Keep up the good work. I will recommend your site to friends.

Travel tips

  • You will love staying here.
  • There are shops at the foot of the steps leading up to the apartment where you can buy most provisions.
  • The locals are friendly and helpful and will share with you any local happening.
  • The Sita bus stop is very handy but we found it necessary to take motion sickness medication before hopping on board because the roads around the coast are very windy.
  • There is an internet point and a Bancomat (ATM) in the village.
  • Don't miss Ravello!!
  • We went for day trips to both Naples and Sorrento while staying in Praiano.

October 2010 - My three girlfriends and I spent only 4 days in House Il Giardino Eden, but every day was a joy. The apartment was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, everything we needed was provided. The owner greeted us in the rain with four umbrellas! She also had a delicious homemade cake in the kitchen to welcome us.

The views over the sea were fabulous and the town was just the right size; with a grocery shop and enough restaurants to stay for a week and never have to repeat.

We took the bus to Amalfi and to Positano where we caught the ferry to Capri. It couldn't have been better located.

I would certainly book with Summer in Italy again. I felt that I was kept informed and had all the information I needed. Very good service.

Travel tips

  • Get fit to take the 137 steps up to the apartment. We didn't mind, it meant we could eat anything we wanted all day long and Adriana, the owner, arranged to have our luggage taken up and down to our car.
  • We didn't have a favorite restaurant, the three we ate in were all good.
  • Positano is a very lively town and we wished we had scheduled more time to explore.

August 2010 - House Il Giardino Eden is a hidden gem of the Amalfi Coast. The apartment is spacious, well equipped and has the most astonishing view of the sea - with Capri in the far distance. Some people would maybe miss a bigger television set and a DVD player, but we did NOT come to watch TV. The rhythm of Italian nightlife and the many possible excursions in and around Praiano simply fills up your schedule.

It's not always easy to find accommodation that holds all six of us - at a reasonable price, so also here House Il Giardino Eden was a find.

It's also worth mentioning the very helpful and welcoming landlady - Mrs. Adriana - who will help you with every possible question or problem. She welcomed us with a huge basket of freshly grown vegetables from her own garden on the very slopes her house is situated on.

A stay at House Il Giardino Eden is likely to be the start of an unforgettable holiday.

It was a straight forward pleasure to do business with you. You site is easy to navigate - your customer service is quick and polite - what else do I need!

Thanks for an unforgettable summer in Italy :-)

Travel tips

  • House Il Giardino Eden has no pool. You need to climb a lot of steps (471 in fact) or grab a bus (for 10 minutes) to get to one of the rocky beaches. And the house itself is 127 steps up from the town square - and this of course must be considered. On the other hand - every day you see men and women who look like they're on the healthy side of 80 climbing the many steps of Praiano. We found this no downside at all. House Il Giardino Eden is a golden opportunity to experience the REAL Italy - as the citizens of Praiano live it themselves.

July 2010 - Three of us spent a week at House Il Giardino Eden in July and it was magical. It exceeded our expectations and provided us with one of our most memorable vacations.

We were a little nervous about all the steps, but found that our legs quickly got stronger and it just wasn't that big a deal, and we are in our 50's and 60's. Besides, the place is so great, that the steps are well worth it.

We were surprised and delighted to discover the market at the bottom of the steps and everything was so nearby.

I would highly recommend it to others - and already have sent the link to friends. The view is the best view I have ever had from any place I have ever stayed.

July 2010 - We spent six nights in House Il Giardino Eden and I can not fault it one bit. The location on the Amalfi Coast in Praiano is ideal for anyone looking to be able to visit and tour the coastline. We had two cars which were parked safely below the house, and even managed to hire scooters in Praiano for two days in order to venture around the coast.

In order to reach the house one must climb stairs, so unfortunately it is not recommended for anyone who has difficulties walking. However, do not allow the stairs to scare you... the view is uncanny and the terrace is large enough to host 40 to 50 people. The house can sleep six comfortably, but no more.

We had one of the most wonderful holidays in House Il Giardino Eden. Having quick access to the local market as well as the town fishmonger we were able to cook in the house a few nights during the week and even hosted a barbecue.

Definitely beat the normal hotel holiday, and for the price I can't wait to do it again.

Travel tips

  • Hire a scooter in town, not online.
  • Take advantage of the local trade - good markets and restaurants.

June 2010 - We've spent a week in Praiano's House Il Giardino Eden in June and we were fully satisfied with everything. House Il Giardino Eden has an incredible view to the sea and Positano. Praiano is a very nice small village and is a good base point to look and travel around Amalfi Coast's cities and villages.

House Il Giardino Eden is much more better and bigger than it seems from the pictures. Everything is newly renovated and clean. The kitchen and the bathrooms are well equipped, the terrace is very big. If you wish to spend a romantic, peace and quiet holiday in Italy this house could be a very good choice.

House Il Giardino Eden's young owner is Adriana, who was very kind and helpful with us. She gave all the necessary information about what to see and how to travel at Amalfi Coast. She lives right next to the Casa so the guests can ask everything almost always. She was bringing peach from her own garden and pizza made by her Mamma as gifts. In the backyard there are lemon trees and you can use them to make fresh lemonade or ice tea.

House Il Giardino Eden is a little piece of the Paradise and we just highly recommend it!

Travel tips

  • Do not hesitate to spend your Amalfi holiday in Praiano. It's cheaper than Positano but the view and the services are the same level.
  • House Il Giardino Eden is in the centre of the village and you can find shops, Sita bus stop, restaurants in few minutes walking distance.
  • It is also easy to get to Praiano from Naples Airport: you can catch buses to Sorrento and from Sorrento there are Sita buses to Amalfi which stops in Positano, Praiano, etc.
  • Do not miss Trattoria La Brace in Praiano! :)

April 2010 - House Il Giardino Eden is amazing... everything about it is wonderful, the garden, terrace and view are exceptional!

You can see the coast and the sunsets are incredible. Breakfasting in your private lemon garden is a treat!

The apartment is very fresh and new. And the showers in the bathrooms are divine... could not have been better.

Staying here was a BIG plus added to the wonderful environment of the Amalfi Coast!

The owner is next door and is very helpful.

The stairs are worth every step!!!

Travel tips

  • The steps... but they are easier than I thought possible.
  • You can take the local bus to Positano and the SITA stop is very close,
  • Restaurant Il Pirata is an excellent restaurant nearby.

Unfortunately, House Il Giardino Eden can not be booked at this time.
