We absolutely loved it!

May 2016 - We (a family of 5) absolutely loved Casa Lovisa in Bologna! A lovely and spacious apartment, with more than enough room (and rooms) for all. The interior is lovely, antique Italian style, and yet it still has the comfort of a modern building. The best of 2 worlds met there. If anything, we would give minus-points to the 2 dogs from the neighbors across the street... They seemed to have a hobby called "night-time barking". With the windows closed it was ok though.

The owners took such good care of preparing Casa Lovisa, they had the most urgent groceries already available in the kitchen. And all this at a really affordable price. Keep things the way they are... It was and still is lovely both the inside and the outside!

Summer In Italy did keep us well informed, thank you for that.

Travel tips

  • It is the perfect apartment for a perfect stay in Bologna... Just one thing to bring in mind: since the apartment is located on the first floor (approximately 33 stairway steps) and on a pretty steep road people with walking difficulties might have problems.
  • If you want to eat out, do try Pizzeria "La Mela" in the center. Contrary to what their name suggests, they serve all kinds of perfect Italian dishes there... Do not complaint if you notice missing fingers after dessert! :)

September 2015 - We enjoyed everything about Casa Lovisa.

Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine was relaxing. We walked to nearby restaurants and shopping. The neighborhood was quiet.

We liked Casa Lovisa as it is. We'd stay again.

Travel tips

  • The four persons in our party ranged in age between 68 and 72. We found that the walk to town and steps up to the apartment were not too much for us.
  • We felt that the occasional taxis fair outweighed the hassle of parking.

October 2014 - Casa Lovisa is very nice and we enjoyed being so close to the central part of Bologna.

Bologna is a terrific city and walking around it is easy and fun. Location is great -- you can walk to restaurants, grocery stores, tourist sites, a great public garden.

The service provided by Summer In Italy was very good. The newsletters are a nice touch and I found several of them to be helpful.

June 2014 - We had a very good week at Casa Lovisa.

The pictures do not do justice to the flat. Although the furnishings are antique all the beds were comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen is perhaps the best equipped that we have ever had on holiday. The large balcony outside the living room was at the right angle to be shaded most of the day. Our only suggestion for improvement would be the balcony furniture. A good table and chairs would have made all the difference.

The location was quiet yet only a few minutes walk from bars, restaurants and a good selection of shops.

We were especially impressed by the welcome we got from the owners when we arrived at a quite late hour. Thank you so much.

  • The best supermarket is about 8 minutes walk towards the main square. There is a minimarket nearer the flat but this is a lot more expensive and not nearly as well stocked.
