A perfect stay

May 2019 - My husband and I stayed here for a week and it was perfect! The views are amazing ... the terrace was exceptional (even with the chilly weather)... and the location was nearly perfect.

There are 2 markets nearby, however, there are not really any restaurants super close. That was ok with us though, we preferred the exercise of getting to the best places to eat. We did have one meal at the restaurant in the Eden Roc Hotel (Adamo ed Eva) and it was the best meal of our entire trip - and it was a level 15 minute walk.

If you’re planning a trip to Positano, this is a great apartment choice. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Freia

October 2018 - We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Freia. We wish we had spent more time there than just three nights.

The kitchen is a bit smaller but has the most amazing view. The living room was more than adequate but we just did not spend too much time there because the sites were so wonderful. We ate a couple of meals on our terrace with beautiful sunsets.

Travel tips

  • We did a trip to Amalfi and up to Ravello. A lovely walk down although strenuous.
  • We loved the smaller beach named Fornillo Beach to the west of the main beach of Positano.

October 2018 - We loved our stay at Casa Freia. We were there on a girls trip and there was plenty of room for the three of us. The house was lovely and the views were stunning.

Teresa and her husband [the owners] were there to greet us. They were so warm and welcoming, such a nice couple.

It was great working with Summer In Italy, the booking process was very easy. They are very quick to respond to emails and were very helpful. Great experience!

Casa Freia is a gem on top of a bigger gem

October 2018 - There are no words to express exactly how perfect and great our experience was in Casa Freia. Casa Freia is a gem on top of a bigger gem.

The house is perfectly located, you have 3 food stores, the bus stop and the stairs to go down to the beach in walking distance, you could not ask for a better place to stay. The views from the front door, the kitchen, the terraces and the bedroom are AMAZING. Pictures do not give this place any justice. Waking up to those views every morning was like being in a dream that you did not want to wake up from.

The house is cozy and more than comfortable at the same time. There are 2 full bathrooms fully updated. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need during your stay. There is a table that sits 4 along with a couch in the living /dining room, we didn't spend too much time in this room but I can tell you that the couch was very comfortable to sit on after coming back from the beach and climbing the stairs back to the house. The bedroom was more than spacious; the bed and pillows super comfortable (a BIG plus). The terrace can be access both from the living room and the bedroom, both views are phenomenal, we had breakfast every morning on the terrace... How could you not with those views!!!

I can honestly say that you will not be sorry choosing Casa Freia for your stay in the Amalfi Coast. You will be welcomed by the most beautiful person, she will receive you with open arms and ready to share her paradise with you. We left Casa Freia knowing that we would definitely be going back very soon!!!

Teresa, the owner of Casa Freia, is the most special person. She welcomed us with so much warmth and her personality was such a plus to our first time in Italy. Upon our arrival Teresa was already waiting for us with a big friendly smile. Once inside the house she took her time giving us a tour and showing us how everything worked. She had coffee in the kitchen for us to make our own cappuccinos in the morning, such a welcoming and special touch!

Summer In Italy customer service is superb! Very helpful with all my questions and very prompt at replying to emails.

The views were magnificent

May 2018 - We really enjoyed Casa Freia. The views were magnificent and the house overall was in excellent condition. The only downside was the road noise which was fairly minimal at night. Overall, a very positive experience. We would rent this property again.

Travel tips

  • Positano has many, many steps and this unit is just above the main road.
  • Learn how to use the internal bus system.
  • There was a bus stop just around the corner from Casa Freia that was very convenient.
  • If the bus stop in the main square is overly crowded, walk up the hill (in the direction the bus came from) and there is another bus stop about not too far. This stop is usually not crowded so you can get on before the masses.
  • As far as day trips, I would highly recommend Capri and Sorrento. Skip Amalfi, very crowded.

The views are beyond perfect!

October 2017 - Casa Freia was an absolutely lovely spot to stay while visiting Positano. The views are beyond perfect! Lots of living space, inside and outside on the two terraces. It made our time in Positano even more incredible because of this place. Lots of walking to and from Casa Freia to reach the beach and restaurants but we loved that part to work off the pizza and pasta. :)

We loved the location and the view

September 2017 - We loved the location and the views and did most of our living on the outdoor terraces. It was quite easy to get down to the main area of Positano and even walking back up was not too difficult. We always walked both ways.

The owner of Casa Freia and her husband (Teresa and Salvatore) were very helpful and quick to respond to any of our questions or needs whilst we were in Positano. They were particularly helpful when the bus dropped us off at the wrong stop on our arrival. Teresa's husband met us and transported us back to the house and then actually went out and bought pizza and drinks for us as it was quite late in the evening and we had no food. This really was an amazing thing to do and shows how much the owners want to ensure their guests are looked after. Teresa brought as a lovely bottle of wine that we enjoyed on the terrace one night.

Summer In Italy were responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend them to take care of your bookings for properties in Italy.

Travel tips

  • You need to walk along the main road for a little way to get to the steps to go down into the lower part of Positano. Cross the road carefully and walk on the right-hand side going down the hill.
  • If you want to go up to Bar Internazionale, which is a lot of fun in the evening, still walk on the outside of the road (left-hand side going up). It is much safer.
  • Be patient with the hot water. We found we used the bathroom off the living area for showers as the water got hot quicker. It took a long time to get hot water over to the en-suite bathroom.
  • The house is very clean. Don't be put off if you notice a bit of a smell that seems to be coming from the bathroom off the living room, it is coming from outside the house! The smell can waft in if the wind is blowing a particular way, we sometimes smelt it when we were walking along the road so it is nothing to do with the house itself!
  • Catch the local bus to Montepertuso and go to Restaurant Il Ritrovo for lunch. We went on a Sunday and it was fantastic with lots of large family groups of locals eating there. Fantastic food and service.
  • Do the Walk of the Gods.
  • Catch a ferry to Amalfi and the bus to Ravello for the day.
  • Avoid the Sita buses if you are there in high season (if you can) or be prepared to storm the door and get on - don't hang back politely or you will be left aside.
  • Spend the day at Fornillo Beach by renting a beach lounger and setting up a tab in the beach club cafe. Drink Aperol Spritz and lay in the sun.
  • Enjoy the best views in Positano on your own terrace.

July 2017 - Casa Freia is beautifully decorated and the view is fantastic. There is a window in the bedroom that let's you wake up to beautiful scenery every morning. My husband and I had coffee or wine on the terrace overlooking the gorgeous view. The house is spacious and has all amenities you need. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen adequate and the bathrooms nice. It was also nice to have a washer to wash our clothes and hang some out to dry. It is a bit of a walk down and back up to the restaurants. We loved staying here and would highly recommend it!

Teresa [the owner] was great and met us with her husband and carried our suitcases up the short 35 steps to the house. She was very responsive to any of our questions.

I thought Summer In Italy was great and loved getting the e-mail newsletters. I think you guys thought of everything!

Travel tips

  • We took a day trip to Capri and Amalfi. The tickets are easy to get at the pier.
  • We loved the day trip to Capri, even though we didn't wait to see the Blue Grotto. It was an hour and a half wait and we wanted to see Capri and Anacapri. This was a great day, we swam in the sea and they had drinks on board.
  • We loved Amalfi for the shopping and restaurants.

June 2017 - We loved Casa Freia. It was actually more impressive in person than on the web site. The home was wonderful. The view was stunning, you could look at the scenery all day. We hope to come back some day.

I would recommend Summer In Italy, there were no surprises. They helped us with advice along the way and were of tremendous assistance when we mistakenly got off at the wrong bus stop.

Travel tips

  • The mini market down the street (by the stairs into town) had wonderful fruits and cheese. They gave you free samples of the meats and cheeses in the deli case.
  • If you want to go to the beach in Positano, be aware that the wind sometimes requires the beach clubs to drop the umbrellas. If you want shade, it might be best to go in the morning.

Amazing...

June 2017 - Casa Freia is amazing... It has a wonderful view of Positano, beautiful outdoor spaces and is within walking distance to town. The bedroom is beautiful, the kitchen small but well stocked with all you will need. The house is directly above the road so there was some traffic noise but didn't create any problems.

October 2016 - We loved Casa Freia! The house is situated just above the main road that runs through Positano, providing one of the best views of the entire town. The walk to the city center takes less than 15 minutes, just be ready for some stairs! Casa Freia was very spacious, very clean. The bed was comfortable. We loved all of the outdoor space and spent most of our time sitting on the covered porch. Again, the view... It's worth the stay!

Teresa [the owner] was a pleasure to work with. She was very accommodating and was readily available for questions during our stay. Everything was lovely!

First time working with Summer In Italy and appreciated all the help and guidance in preparation of our stay! Very helpful!

Travel tips

  • Toilet paper, hand soap, spices (in the kitchen) were all available for our use. We brought our own shower toiletries and ran to one of the nearby markets on the main road for coffee and other daily staples.
  • The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, etc.
  • There are a lot of options near the house if you don't feel like venturing far for a meal, groceries or transportation.

  • Don't bring a car. You don't need a car. We came by van and it made it very hard, parked it for the duration of our stay several kilometres out of town.
  • The supermarket close by was very useful.
  • Use ferries, so pretty and worth paying the additional cost to avoid roads.

Really enjoyed our stay!

June 2016 - Casa Freia was exactly what my husband and I were looking for! Old World Charm, with a breathtaking view. The bed was comfortable, Wi-Fi available, fully stocked with everything we needed, and close to shopping, dining, and a short walk to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay!

We wouldn't change a thing - we loved it!

  • You will be able to enter the kitchen from the first terrace, not a problem at all - just make sure you don't leave food out - because the ants will invite themselves over.
  • You should be able to walk to everywhere you would like to go - however, taking the local bus home at night was a welcomed option.

Wish we were there now

July 2014 - We loved our stay.The walk up and down to the town was enjoyable and not too arduous. The local fresh fruit and vegetable shops (2) and local mini mart owners were very friendly and helpful. The view was sensational. We never tired of it. We found Teresa [the caretaker] very helpful, lovely and welcoming.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wish we were there now.

Travel tips

  • Be vigilant with cleaning up the kitchen after cooking as the ants were an issue.
  • One of the green grocers sells 4-euro bottles of local red wine. Not too bad!
  • Make sure you walk up around and above Casa Freia as there is a church directly overhead with a lovely little 'square' with a great view and a flourishing local community. Really interesting. Church seemed to be everynight.
  • The Wi-Fi in the villa was great.
