Trattoria da Spadino

Hearty fare in a simple setting - just what a traditional trattoria should be. The Spadino in Castelmezzano is easy to find as it is basically at the edge of the town's parking lot below the steps and seating area that serve as an open-air amphitheater in summer.

There's outdoor seating, and some tables inside for year-round dining. The simple "cucina povera" of Basilicata is what is featured here, but don't mistake "peasant fare" with spare or lacking flavors! On the contrary, the antipasto could practically be a meal itself! Homemade pasta dishes, grilled meats, and regional wines. Simple but delicious.
