Placed in a wing of a fading pastel palace, this restaurant has the feel of a French bistro. Despite its setting in a 17th century villa, the Antico Agnello is unpretentious and homey. Located here on the shores of Lake Orta for more than 20 years, they serve typical dishes from Piedmont, made from goods found in the nearby mountains and artisanal products from the surrounding towns. Pasta sauces are made with rabbit, duck or mushrooms, for example, and risotto plays heavily into the menu. Meats include lamb (of course, "agnello" is in their name!), rabbit roasted with olives, game and duck, while there is lake fish available for those who prefer a taste from the water. Desserts are something to plan for, to not miss out on the homemade delicacies.

There are tables on the terrace for nice-weather dining. Reservations appreciated. The restaurant is located in Villa Nigra, in the hamlet of Miasino, just uphill from Orta San Giulio.
