Family run restaurant outside the village of Lajatico, La Vallata serves local fare in a lovely setting. The owners run an extensive farm and use their own products in the restaurant's kitchen to serve fresh, seasonal, regional specialties. The abundant antipasto plate could serve as a meal in itself, but the pastas are handmade and the meat main courses comes from their own animals. Everything is made in house, including the bread, the pasta, and the desserts.

The restaurant is in a restored farmhouse that dates back to the 1700s with wood beams and stone walls for an authentic ambiance. There is seating on a terrace in the summer. The house is surrounded by cypress and olive trees. Views overlook the hills, fields and woods of the surrounding countryside with the hill town of Volterra in the background.
