The Piramidi di Zone are fantastical formations above Lake Iseo in a canyon of the Valle Camonica hills just above the Lombardy lake. Called "earth pyramids" they are lunar-looking sculptures created by erosion, an unusual feature for an alpine lake environment.

The fascinating area is located near Zone (pronounced ZO-nay) and is a nature reserve, in the hills near Marone. The geologic formations are called "hoodoos" and are created by erosion because the softer rock below gives away while a stronger cap rock erodes at a slower pace, giving the impression of pyramids.

Walk up and enjoy nature's sculpture garden. It is not an easy hike but worthwhile!

Drive up toward the town of Zone and you'll see signs for the Parco Regional delle Pirimidi di Erosioni and the street, conveniently called Via Piramidi.
