Mountain Coaster Basilicata

A fun soft-adventure way to cruise down a mountain is the slittovia delle Dolomiti Lucane in Castelmezzano!. There is no hiking involved as a hydraulic lift takes your coaster car to the starting point, then it's whoosh! -snaking down the mountain with the wind in your hair.

It opened in spring of 2025 and has already garnered large crowds and lots of attention, because unlike the loftier attraction -the Volo dell'Angelo zip line- this one is on the ground, perfect for those with a fear of heights but who still want a thrill ride. It's like a summer bobsled ride. It curves and snakes, enters a tunnel and ends with a final loop.

It departs from 1,051 meters (3,475 feet) above sea level, and glides down a winding rail for 1,180 meters (3,871 feet).

Tickets cannot be purchased or reserved online; they are only available on-site, on a first-come basis. Check the calendar for opening dates and hours. They do have special dates over the holiday period in December and January, but is normally open from March through November, though lower season has only certain dates.
