La Tavernetta sull'Aia is a casual-cool restaurant in the tiny hamlet of Monterado that serves excellent, even upscale, fare at reasonable prices. Specialty foods of Le Marche are presented with a bit of flair and ingenuity. For example, the regional favorite,Tagliata (grilled tender beef), is served with pears poached in local wine and the famous pecorino di fossa cheese (pecorino cheese aged in caves). Homemade pastas have traditional toppings, along with interesting creations like ravioli with asparagus and sausage, or gnocchi with duck sauce. A variety of grilled and roasted meats round out the main course, and there are always abundant seasonal vegetables, too. House-made desserts shouldn't be missed. The wine selection offers regional vintages that pair well with the food (try the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba or the Bianchello.)
