Civic Museum San Francesco Montone

In the charming hamlet of Montone, you'll find the impressive Civic Museum of San Francesco, housed in a former monastery. The museum complex includes the art gallery and the archeology section.

With frescoes, painting, sculptures and ceramics, the art gallery is a lovely way to while away an hour or two. The archeology section holds interesting exhibits following the excavations of a Roman villa - with money, mosaics, fragments and artifacts on display. There is also a marble Roman funerary stele among the pieces.

The museum is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 AM til 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM til 6:00 PM. Other times by reservation.
