A large part of the beauty of Maratea is seen along its rugged coastline, and for that you will need to get out on a boat! There are a few companies that will rent boats without needing a captain's/ boating license, so you can find some of the coves and grottoes and hidden beaches that make the place so stunning. And of course, revel in the crystal-clear cobalt water, drop anchor and jump in for a swim where you choose, pack a picnic and enjoy the day (or half-day) with the rocky hillside, the town on its perch and the towering statue of Cristo Il Redentore up above.

The rental companies can be found at the Porto di Maratea. There are a few. Some don't have websites so you'll need to call or send a Whatsapp message to reserve and confirm your rental (everyone in Italy uses Whatsapp.) Or, unless it is August at the high season, you can go to the marina and look at the boats, talk to the companies and reserve on the spot.
