Belvedere Trivigno

Belvedere literally means beautiful view, and in this case is a panoramic overlook. There is a rather steep path down and back up to reach the outcropping at the edge of Trivigno, but the views make it worth the walk. It is not long or especially difficult, just pay attention to not skid on the steeper bits.

The views extend over the Basento Valley to surrounding hill towns like Albano di Lucania across the river, Brindisi di Montagna to the west, and Campomaggiore to the east. The most impressive vista is the mountain range you can't miss -the Dolomiti Lucane. And the view back to the oldest section of the village is quite lovely, too.

There are sometimes special events organized here, like jazz concerts or other musical evenings in the summer.

The Belvedere is found at the very top of Trivigno, walking past the main church (Piazza IV Novembre) to the end of the street and turning left.
