Italy's premier race track for Formula 1 was built in 1922, one of the top three in the world. Known as the Temple of Speed, the drivers are aptly called pilots and the track is legendary.

The Autodromo Monza is placed in a wooded area just outside the city and is a theater for sport and technology. Its long straights and fast curves allow the cars to go full throttle, but have also resulted in tragic deadly accidents. The track has been reconfigured many times to make it safer for drivers and spectators.

The Temple of Speed is the location of the F1 Italian Grand Prix and other premier races. When not in use for competition, you can visit and tour the informative museum and the track. There are several options available for visitors to experience the Monza facility. A basic entrance lets you see the inner workings of Formula 1 at Monza. You can rent a bike to ride around the track and area. Or you can schedule a tour in a car.

Other fun activities include a racing simulator. But if you can't be happy until you've climbed behind the wheel yourself, there is a Driving Experience option for that, too. They also offer a driving school, to really learn how to pilot an F1 car.
