We had a fantastic time

October 2022 - We had a fantastic time at Villa Regina Giovanna. It was in a secluded and secure location on the outskirts of Sorrento with a well equipped kitchen and lovely seating / BBQ area on the external patio. Bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds with a shared bathroom upstairs and a bathroom downstairs. Fixtures and fitting were all in good condition and to a standard that is reflected in the photographs of the property.

If you are happy to walk a bit, this is a great property in a safe location just outside of Sorrento itself but close enough to be in the main town via a simple 10 minute bus ride and for around 2 euro per adult return. Tickets can be bought by the tobacconist just by the bus stop so really easy.

I would have no concerns about booking with Summer In Italy again. Really prompt assistance throughout the whole booking process, advice prior to arrival and during our stay. Friendly, helpful and professional - what more can you ask for?

Travel tips

  • There is a local bus to take you to and from the centre of Sorrento BUT this is located about 300 meters down a fairly steep hill from the property - easy going down but not so easy going up! Our party of 4 are all in their early 50's and 60's and coped without too much problem. However, for families with young children (and pushchairs) or those with a physical disability, this needs to be considered.
  • There is a great little shop just by this bus stop for basic provisions and a bar for a drink before you attempt the hill!
  • The plunge pool is not heated so we didn't use this for our stay in October.

We had a lovely time

June 2022 - Beautiful villa, spotlessly clean, lovely garden, well equipped. Villa Regina Giovanna was perfect, we had a lovely time.

We felt that Summer In Italy were very helpful and responsive to any queries we had, and we would be happy to book through you again.

Travel tips

  • Bus picks up at the end of the lane, but you can walk into Sorrento via back lanes avoiding most of the main roads.
  • Shop and restaurant within walking distance.
  • Good food in Restaurant Kalimera. Shop has very nice deli with ham and cheese and fresh bread, they also do great sandwiches.

Even better than the pictures showed!

May 2022 - Villa Regina Giovanna was even better than the pictures showed! My husband and I were lucky enough to spend a week there with our two daughters at the end of May. The villa was very quiet and peaceful. It was especially nice to be able to drive right to the house and park our car. With the secure gate we felt very safe. We ate all of our meals outdoors on the beautiful patio. One of the things I appreciated most was the cleanliness of the villa. Also, the quality of the furnishings, the plentiful white towels and the amazing windows were highlights of the home.

Only good things to say about Summer In Italy. Your excellent communication with clients is something to continue. I have already passed on your web site to friends that will traveling to Italy later this year. I would not hesitate to recommend your company. Well done!

Travel tips

  • We took the ferry from Sorrento to explore Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and Capri (twice)! We parked at the parking lot closest to the marina and walked a few minutes to the ferry.
  • We splurged one day and hired a boat to take us around Capri. It was one of our best days. We stopped for lunch and slowly made our way back even fitting in a swim. Amazing!
  • We also took the train to Naples and had pizza at Gino Sorbillo. Highly recommended!

Excellent

August 2019 - Absolutely adored Villa Regina Giovanna!

The photos on website did not do it justice. Clean, spacious and very high presentation. Quirky details such as unusual light fittings. We went with 2 small children (ages 8 months and 2). Removable steps from small pool was a great safety feature.

Secure location and staff met and showed us round, answering all questions and providing answers to any questions we had.

Is an uphill walk from the main road into town and hard work with a pram! Kept us fit though and I think being off main road a definite bonus for property. We did not have a car and would not have wanted one - that is a scary road to drive!

Overall I could not recommend more - will definitely be back!

Keep it up!

Travel tips

  • Get used to the buses in and out of town. Run every 20-30 mins and very good value. You can buy tickets at the small shop at bottom of hill and in all tobacconists.
  • The mosquitoes were BAD this year! I have been before to Sorrento and have travelled extensively through Asia, Africa and South America and can honestly say one of worst trips for being bitten. Take a plug in insect repellent and burn a citronella candle if you are sitting outside at night - you can buy them from shop at bottom of hill.
  • Drink Limoncello daily - it would be rude not to!

May 2019 - Villa Regina Giovanna is a beautiful villa in a gorgeous location that is well-decorated and furnished and extremely welcoming.

Summer in Italy is a brilliant company, would definitely use again!

Travel tips

  • It's on a quite a steep hill (as most of the places in Sorrento!) so if you're not comfortable about walking, then think about hiring a car.
  • There aren't many shops close-by.

July 2018 - I loved Villa Regina Giovanna.

The place was more than perfect. Adequate space for all of us, and it felt like we were really living there. We took full advantage of the patio area, the pool, the A/C, the entertainment and kitchen areas. There were so many little surprises in the common areas every time we cooked which really made it a great place for us to stay in Sorrento.

While it is up a big hill, we got used to that, as EVERYWHERE IN SORRENTO is on a hill. It was convenient to just walk a few minutes down the road, and have a bar, restaurant, bus stop, and beach at our finger tips.

I would definitely stay here again.

The owners were great in greeting us, and showing us the way from the meeting point to the villa.

Summer In Italy answered all my questions. This was amazing! One of my favorite vacations.

Travel tips

  • We did day trips to Capri and Naples.
  • I would definitely compare the bus schedules with the ferry schedules because the ferry to Naples is not as often as the one to Capri and those can fill up. So plan ahead.
  • Arrange a day trip to Mount Vesuvius and see if you can do a vineyard tasting at Azienda Vinicola Sorrentino. That was one of the best parts of the trip.
  • We spent a day on a boat visiting the Amalfi Coast, but not after taking a long windy bus ride to Positano. Even if you are afraid of height, these people know how to drive, so just sit back and relax and enjoy the immaculate views.

Very good

October 2017 - Villa Regina Giovanna is a lovely villa, tucked away up a side street with enclosed garden. Good decor and repair. A haven - though there are early rising cockerels around!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

July 2017 - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to others. Loved the outdoor areas and it was perfect for us with our young children.

Summer In Italy is an absolutely brilliant company. Replied to all messages quickly and efficiently. Would recommend to everyone and will use again. Thank you for a great family holiday.

Travel tips

  • Buses at the bottom of the road run every half hour and cost 1 euro 30 each way. Very quick and easy to get into Sorrento.
  • Great day out at Herculaneum and Capri.

Unfortunately, Villa Regina Giovanna can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
