Fantastic

July 2014 - Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Villa Prisca A.

Pros include: the fabulous view, the quiet surroundings, the lack of tourists, the authentic Italian village feeling in the Bomerano area, the friendly Italian locals, the gelaterie, the shop with the great deli and the friendly, helpful owners of Villa Prisca A. Also the proximity to the Walk of the Gods, a spectacular 4 hour cliff top walk from Agerola to Positano, makes the property a great spot for hikers. Cons were: the very erratic hot water system which could go ice cold mid shower and mainly, the distance from the coast. Sightseeing or swimming anywhere along the coast involved a 12 min walk to the bus stop, a 40 min bus ride down to Amalfi and then travel from there to Capri, Positano, etc.

We had a hire car but driving down that hair raising road was too terrifying a concept for our designated drivers and parking along the coast was impossible anyway. I loved the bus ride with all the narrow, steep hairpins and the great views but my husband didn't enjoy it at all. The bus timetable has to be factored into every excursion. For example a tour starting at 9 in Amalfi involves a very early start and a very crowded standing room only bus.

The communication and booking process with Summer In Italy was great and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Travel tips

  • Make sure you download a current bus timetable. In summer the times change and the schedule on the post at the bus stop may not be up to date.
  • For walkers the area is fantastic. Don't miss doing the Walk of the Gods.
  • For beachgoers, stay closer to the coast.
  • Go down to Amalfi, do the Lemon Tour and attend a cooking class.

November 2013 - Misty Mountains and french doors that open onto a long length balcony with sensational sea views from this generous sized and well appointed villa. Marcello and Maria [the owners] have decorated Villa Prisca A in good taste and together with their warm welcome, and generosity together with the friendliness of the local people makes for a very pleasant stay.

Nearby hiking trails and bus that takes you into Amalfi for connecting buses to towns along the coastal strip.

Highly recommended.

Travel tips

  • A car is required, the road in is narrow.

October 2012 - We very much enjoyed our week at Villa Prisca A. Maria and Marcello [the owners] were very friendly and welcoming and the accommodation surpassed our expectations.

The location may not suit everyone - being high up and a fair distance from the actual coast - but it was perfect for us. We hardly used our car all week, preferring to walk into Agerola to do any shopping and to catch a bus to Amalfi. Most of all, the view from every room is stunning!

We were very impressed by your organisation. Your notes on booking holiday accommodation in Italy are clear, well-written and very amusing in places. If anything, you could be a little more positive. Villa Prisca A is certainly much better equipped than we expected from reading your notes!

Travel tips

  • Agerola (Bomerano), just a short walk away, is a superb base for shops, restaurants, buses and the 'Path of the Gods.'

June 2012 - Staying at Villa Prisca has to rate as one of the best holidays of my life. We felt instantly relaxed upon arrival - the house was spotless and surprisingly large and the terrace has the most wonderful views.

Its location is spot on - it's high above the tourist spots of Positano (which we hated) and Amalfi - and it's all the better for being a distance away. The closest town which we walked to most days had the most incredible array of produce - five butchers, countless delis, a fab bakery, pasta store, amazing fruit and veg, You can even buy locally-made butter and milk. We ate in most nights due to this bounty - and the kitchen was a delight to cook in.

The beaches are a bit of a drive - but we found that by avoiding the main coast road and walking to beaches by taking roads off the main road down to the coast road we managed to avoid most of the hideous drives - the coast road is pretty hectic and full on with tons of tourist buses. I would recommend going to the Furore fjiord beach - which you can access via the signs to Furore Inn resort - it's a pretty decent walk but beautiful. And Conca dei Marini is also beautiful - busier but not horribly so.

The owners were lovely too. And the price was pretty amazing as well.

All in all a perfect villa, a perfect location and a perfect holiday.

May 2012 - We have spent one week here, in May, 2012. This villa is a charm; one can see the sea and the sky above it right from one's bed! Situated high on the top of the mountain, it has magnificent views from all the rooms and the terraces around it. Every night you can also see the fireworks from Conca dei Marini.

The property is very quiet and the rooms are spacious and clean; the kitchen awaits for you to prepare a picnic using local fresh ingredients like vegetables grown under real sun, smoked delicious cheeses with olives and the pure wine generously offered by your kind hosts.

There are buses nearby; however, if you can drive a standard and have good reflexes, we highly recommend it (parking on the property is included).

From Furore you can take day-trips in all directions (Napoli, Capri, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Paestum etc.) and save your time and… your feet.

June 2011 - We enjoyed the week at Villa Prisca A very much. The view from the terrace was great. It was very quiet and the garden and flowers where beautiful.

This was the first time we rented a apartment and it was very nice. It's nice to unpack once for a week. We think Summer in Italy did a good job with all the things we need. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • You must have a car.
  • This is a good place to set and enjoy the view and read a book.
  • The roads in this area are on the small size.
  • The town has a few stores and you can get what you need.
  • The food at Restaurant Da Nicola is great. The service is very good.

April 2011 - Villa Prisca A was great!! We had a marvellous time.

The owners are really nice and helpful.

The apartment is perfect and was perfectly clean.

Everything was perfect!

Travel tips

  • Just ask the owners, their advice is good!!
  • The path of gods is really worth it, even with young children.
  • We also went to Capri, Vesuvius and Pompeii and had a great time wandering int the nearby villages. One week is not enough to see everything in the area...

October 2010 - Quiet place and wonderful hosts! The views are incredible!

You guys are just great....and deserve a raise!!!! Keep up he good work!

Travel tips

  • Maiori is a wonderful place to shop/visit, not as busy as Amalfi and has a wonderful promenade by the sea.
  • Though we had a rental car, we opted to go by bus to Sorrento... tried driving once but finding parking was horrendous so we just gave our driver the 'day off' so he could see the beautiful sights on the coastline as well. The owner will help you with where to buy bus tickets.

May 2010 - Villa Prisca was absolutely beautiful, with very warm and accommodating owners and caretakers, Maria and Marcello, who were just fantastic.

I cannot find anything to say that is bad about my 7 day stay at the Villa Prisca A: the view, the villa, the cleanliness of the villa everything about the holiday, my dealings with Summer in Italy especially, everything was just fantastic. Thank you Luca and staff, your service has been the greatest, second to none.

March 2010 - We're totally satisfied by our holidays in Villa Prisca A. The view from the window is spectacular.

It's warm even in April and so quiet that you can easily fall asleep right in the cosy sun lounge on the terrace. It's not a joke :)

Travel tips

  • The village is tiny and it's much easier to get to the nearest towns by car. So you'd rather book one. If you don't want to, it's also possible to get there by bus.
  • The most tremendous place nearby is Positano. Amalfi and Sorento are also formidable. Take into account that it's rather cold inside the house in the evening in spring. So you'd better pay for some extra heat.

November 2009 - if you want quiet and lovely, this is it! Also the owners are exceptional in seeing that your needs are met.

We would highly recommend this place, it was perfect for us.

We travel to Italy once a year and have always been well taken care of by the tremendous people who work for Summer in Italy! A big thank you for the lengths you all go to for us to have everything right at our finger tips, even down to notifying us of road work so we could detour (ahead of time). Great people, Great company!

Travel tips

  • I can't see how you'd get to this place without a car, but with a car, the effort made in getting to it (owner meets you) is well worth it.
  • Owner supplies everything... tips to places, shops, etc.
