Excellent

July 2009 - Villa Monella is great specially if you have kids travelling with you. Owners of the house have dogs and days went by playing with them.

Thank you for all the advice we got!

Travel tips

  • Ask the owners about Bodega, (a shop) where you can buy wine!

June 2008 - The villa was lovely and large, in a quiet suburb of Lucca. You could walk to the town (St. Alessio), to the supermarket, butcher, etc, but it was not a short walk. To get to Lucca, you definitely need a car.

The owners of the house live in an apartment which is part of the house. They are a very nice couple. They also have a nice dog, Zago who is very friendly.

The pool was fabulous. The kitchen was very nice, and the most beautiful room was the dining room. The bedrooms were good size, but the mattresses were uniformly terrible as were the pillows. The bathrooms were very large and modern. The living room was large, but the furniture was old and very uncomfortable to sit on. This was where the television was, so if you wanted to watch, you had no choice but to sit there.

The house has wi-fi which is free and worked virtually all the time.

The family photos all over the house made my husband a bit uncomfortable. But overall it was a good experience staying there and Lucca is a very nice city to visit with many good restaurants and easy access to many towns and the beach.

Renting from Summer in italy was very easy. My neighbors had used the company before and recommended you. The staff was rapid in their responses and very available.

Overall, It was a really nice experience.

Travel tips

  • The bus to Lucca rarely runs.
  • There are a few good places to eat a short drive from the villa (Trattoria Bamboro).
  • The grocery store in St. Alessio was OK.
  • It was a short drive to the beach at Viareggio and about 1 1/2 hr drive to the Cinque Terre. The train to Florence was OK (1 1/2 - 2 HRS)
  • The owners are very nice and very accommodating.

Unfortunately, Villa Monella can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
