Fantastic

July 2019 - We stayed in Villa Micia for one week in mid July. As a family of four (2 adults and 2 older children), we enjoyed the space afforded by the 3 different bedrooms. The Garden Room was occupied by myself and my wife; we enjoyed the privacy of having our own room away from the main house and found it to be nice and cool at nights with a large and comfortable bed.

The property is a little "quirky" but we found that to be a real positive; who wants to stay in a boring hotel room? This property feels more Italian. The outdoor space is delightful with a large shady area and a great view over to Vesuvius.

The swimming pool is good and very well maintained. Although its open to the whole park, it was never really busy.

As previously mentioned, the property does sit at the top of a rather steep hill and our little car struggled to make the incline, particularly with a heavy load! However, this all became part of the fun and caused no issues. A car is really required to ensure full enjoyment of the local area.

Summer in Italy offered us a good service and I liked the ongoing dialogue to help me along.

Travel tips

  • We decided to hire a car locally which was delivered to and collected from the villa. We chose private hire for the shuttle runs to and from the airport. I recommend hiring a small car only as the roads can be quite tight in places, but don't let reports of local driving habits put you off.
  • That said, the roads around the Amalfi coast are very crowded in July, so we enjoyed the Sorrento peninsula itself. Its very beautiful in its own right and there is a lovely beach / village a few miles away at Marina del Cantone.
  • Massa Centro is nearby with a number of good restaurants but there are no poor eating places in this area (we tried many!).
  • Capri is a lovely day out, make sure you take the chairlift to the top!

Travel tips

  • If you have a car it’s great: easy access, safe parking.
  • Great spot to drive to Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi Coast or take the boat to Capri, Naples, Amalfi (in these last cases, just park your car near the port at Garage Marina Piccola or Parking Achille Lauro, very safe and convenient).
  • A lot of nice restaurants around with great views.
  • Capri was a big disappointment for us, too many tourists - you cannot even walk - better doing something else.
  • Positano busy but sooo gorgeous, much nicer than Amalfi.

The view from the garden on Mount Vesuvius, Naples bay and Capri was gorgeous

August 2017 - Villa Micia was a nice house for our two weeks in Massa Lubrense. The view from the garden on Mount Vesuvius, Naples bay and Capri was gorgeous. Perfect for breakfast, and apéro! The three bedrooms are perfect for 6 guests. The separated bedroom and its bathroom, which are built in the rocks a few steps down the garden from the house, were humid. The pool is rather big, even if it is shared with others people. We recommend the place.

Salvatore, who takes care of the property, is very friendly and helpful.

Travel tips

  • Driving to Sorrento can be a nightmare. It took us once an hour to cross it… Choose the moment you'll go.
  • Same thing if you drive to Positano or Amalfi. You'd rather take a boat. We did it with Cooperativa San Antonio and their trip with a shared boat was perfect. I wouldn't say the same for the same type of trip to Capri.
  • For Capri, you need to go to Anacapri. Views are better, less crowded than Capri so you can breathe a little bit more.
  • Should mention that Pompeii is not to be missed?
  • For the rest, restaurants are fine around Massa Lubrense. Restaurant La Torre, Restaurant Lo Stuzzichino or, one star with the best terrace, Restaurant Relais Blu.
  • Don't get to that area for beaches, they are small and crowded.

A wonderful stay

October 2016 - We had a wonderful six-week stay at Villa Micia. It is the perfection location for exploring the Amalfi Coast. The villa itself makes for a very pleasant place to not only explore the area, but also to enjoy the fabulous views from the outside patio areas. It is very quiet and relaxing.

The owner Dora and the resident caretaker Salvatore are simply the greatest. They both truly went out of their way to make us comfortable and our stay memorable.

We have booked with Summer In Italy on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The people there are professional in every respect and go out of their way to make the reservation process seamless.

Travel tips

  • Definitely need a car here. Driving here is exciting, to say the least, but not a problem --- just don't make eye contact with the other drivers and remember that what's behind you is not important.
  • Local restaurants are quite good, especially Restaurant Il Cantuccio in Massa Lubrense and Restaurant Caruso in Sorrento.

Very good

July 2016 - Villa Micia is in a beautiful location and has spectacular views of the golf of Naples at 180 degrees. We rarely left the house, for as beautiful and comfortable it was. We enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend this property.

The caretaker, Salvatore is very nice and has been helpful all the way through. The pool is also fantastic and Nino, the pool keeper, is a real gentleman.

June 2013 - Villa Micia is beautiful, the views are breathtaking. The villa is very spacious with lovely personal effects.

The garden room is unique set into the side of the hill with rock features in the room.

You really need a hire car staying here as taxis into Sorrento are quite pricey. Mr Salvatore, who is the resident caretaker, was very welcoming and helpful. Thank you!

Loved our stay and hope to return.

Summer in Italy staff were extremely helpful throughout.

Thanks for a great trip!

August 2012 - We loved Villa Micia!

To mention a few points: the location is great, views are magnificent, gardens are green, full of flowers and well maintained, the terrace is extremely comfortable, the pool is great and the people were very nice and friendly. Inside Villa Micia is very comfortable, clean and spacious.

If we have the chance we would very much like to come back to this spot again in the future. And definitely we would recommend others to go visit and share this wonderful experience with us.

I would like to say thanks for all your kind services. We have experienced nothing that disappointed us during and before our stay at Villa Micia. Many thanks again and I hope we will be able to book a next holiday through your organization soon!

September 2011 - We had a great time at Villa Micia and would definitely consider staying there again.

The outside living space is excellent with space to sit in the shade or in the sun.

Th pool is very clean, well kept and fairly quiet.

The kitchen needs updating but was manageable.

We didn't really use the living room as the weather was so good we spent all our time outside.

The third bedroom is not suitable for a couple and if used the main front door is not usable, however this did not really affect our stay.

Travel tips

  • Driveway extremely steep so car essential.
  • Excellent location. Quiet with excellent views, great for families. Very close to Sorrento and many sights as long as you have transport. Either car or moped. A bicycle would be very hard work.
  • Easy access to trips along the Amalfi coast by land or sea, many boat trips and ferry options available to the nearby islands.

July 2010 - We did greatly appreciate our stay in Villa Micia. The villa is a charming and quiet place and the swimming pool is very useful to rest and relax after visiting the surroundings, especially with children.

Salvatore [the caretaker] is welcoming, efficient and has very good advices about restaurants. Special thanks to Nino that cares very good the swimming pool and is a very nice person, our son Julien did very appreciate his playing with him.

The villa conforms to the presentation on Internet, the proceeding of the payment is correctly respected. The agents have been efficient for special requests (baby bed, baby chair)

We are very satisfied.

August 2009 - The Villa itself is spacious - apart from the kitchen which I found adequate but small. No dishwasher was a downside, but it was quite well equipped.

The terrace, private garden and patio area are stunning and peaceful. The view is breathtaking and a daily treat and the property's caretaker, Salvatore, was very helpful and friendly.

Travel tips

  • There are no shops within walking distance. This will be fine if you have a hire car. We used the local bus services which are excellent, tickets however, need to be bought in advance.
  • If you are there in August, be prepared for the mosquitoes!

July 2009 - The villa has excellent views across Sorrento and the Bay of Naples. It is in a lovely peaceful location. The facilities on site are excellent and are kept very clean. The swimming pool is a lovely advantage, very quiet and peaceful.

The villa itself is in traditional Italian style. The terraces are lovely, and very nice to relax on. A barbecue would be lovely on the terrace. I feel that this villa is perhaps not suitable for 6 adults as the third bedroom with a pull out bed is located in the entrance hall of the villa, therefore the main front door is not accessible when that room is being used as a bedroom.

Unfortunately, when we arrived the bedding was not clean. We informed Salvatore, the caretaker, who promptly dealt with the situation, and the beds were changed. It was perhaps disappointing when we first arrived. Overall we had an excellent holiday, a beautiful place, which we would visit again!!!.

Summer in Italy was a very accessible web site, which I found easy to book through. The service has been excellent.

Sorry to hear about the little glitch you experienced at check-in. It seems that some of the sheets were stained, although washed, and needed be replaced. Thanks to Salvatore for taking care of that swiftly... he really looks after Villa Micia as if it were his own, and he is a great asset to the property.

Travel tips

  • The road from Villa Micia to Sorrento is very busy and is not suitable for a leisurely walk to Sorrento town.
  • Bus services are excellent but taxis are very expensive. It is a very long trek up to the villa, perhaps not suitable for the elderly but the views are worth it.

The shared pool was so well looked after by Franco, it was a pleasure to swim in.

Salvatore was very helpful as the caretaker.

The view of Vesuvio & Naples was stunning & there seemed to be nightly firework displays!

Once again Summer in Italy were a fantastic company to book a holiday with & we hope to use them again in the future. Thanks to all.

September 2007 - We loved our family stay at Villa Micia.

It was a really homely environment and the accommodation suited our family... 5 adults and 1 child...a cot was provided (no linen for the cot was provided) and a high chair.

Beach towels and robes were a lovely extra.

The towels and linen are getting a bit "tired" and for the price of the rental it would really make a big difference to have some new ones.

The outdoor sitting area was lovely... armchairs and tables... just like the picture on the net shows!!

Every communication with Summer in Italy was dealt with in a really friendly and caring way. Altogether a pleasure to deal with... thank you very much.

We would recommend Summer in Italy to anyone...

The owner got the message about towels and linens! Thanks for pointing that out!

Travel tips

  • Be aware that there is a long steep driveway to the villa from the road if you are using public transport (we got really fit from this)
  • A day to Pompei was really enjoyable... easily done in 1 day trip on the train.
  • The day to Capri is highly touristy!!! People everywhere and crowded.
  • Cafes in some of the little pedestrian streets in Sorrento were wonderful.
  • A reminder that the lovely little beach... Marina di Puolo, just nearby is well worth visiting... good food and snacks available... safe for children.

August 2007 - Generally excellent but let down by two things.

1. The kitchen was far too small. To try and cook for 5 people was a challenge. More thought needs to be given here to space and organisation. Also, no kettle!!! For English people this is essential.

2. One of the basins in one of the bathrooms didn't drain. This should have been checked prior to arrival and repaired.

As we always say, don't let a small problem bother you for the length of your stay. It was a matter of minute for the caretaker to arrange for a plumber to come and fix the problem -- he just needed to know :-)

Travel tips

  • Take a travel kettle.
  • Take plenty of mozzie cream and repellents.
  • Make sure you are well covered for any car insurance as the Italians are lunatics on the roads and will surely crash into you or cause you to crash at some point.

August 2007 - We enjoyed our stay at Villa Micia very much.

The size of the apartment was ideal for a family, the pool was great, Franco and Salvatore [the caretakers] were very friendly and helped us with whatever we needed.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Thank you for making our stay enjoyable. The directions to the villa were fantastic and dealing with you was very easy.

Travel tips

  • Beware of the trees in the parking lot! I hit the rear window in the tree and the glass fell but Salvatore [the caretaker] was kind enough to cover the damage with a makeshift window!

June 2007 - We enjoyed our stay at the Villa Micia and loved eating on the terrace and patio every night.

Our favorite part was the beautiful landscaped grounds and views. It was like having a real home in Italy!

The caretaker, Salvatore, was phenomenal and spoke good English.

The villa looked just like the pictures.

Travel tips

  • If you are handicapped or out of shape you will need to consider having a car or taking a taxi. The hill is quite high for daily walking to get to the bus stop or bring things.

September 2006 - Very enjoyable - lovely patio and view - when at the house, we spent all our time outside on the patio. We ate there, played there, just enjoyed ourselves.

The master bedroom was a bit "simple", compared to the separate bedroom down below - but it still met our needs - as did the kitchen.

The people there were great - although we couldn't "speak" to some (since we don't speak Italian) we still found a way to communicate, and everyone was most helpful.

Everything was well organized - the information you provided was helpful and you met all of our expectations.

Thank you.

Travel tips

  • Nice place but be aware that it isn't a place for small children - dangerous drop-off at the end of the patio/yard: not good for toddlers who might just wander off the end.

July 2006 - Location was fabulous. Exterior area (deck, landscaped areas) was above expectations.... very very nice !

The "quiet time" at the pool (between 2-4) was odd... this is the hottest time of the day and would have been nice to be able to utilize the pool area.

Interior was good and met expectations.

Getting access to the Villa went without a hitch and Salvatore (on site manager) was effective. We did not need him much, but had the sense that if we did, he would be available.

I would not hesitate to use Summer In Italy again. I have already recommended it to several others. The process was efficient and well organized.

April 2006 - WOW! A fantastic Villa nestled in the hills of Massa Lubrense with an exceptional 180 degree view of the bay. A great location within a 2 minute drive of the town center of Massa Lubrense to the left out of the gate (yes it's also gated) and a 8 minute drive to the right puts you into town center of Sorrento.

The villa is in a very quiet location, beautiful back patio and landscape. The detached studio is an excellent place for Mom and Dad to get away from the kids!

This villa comes with a BONUS! His name is Salvatore (caretaker) and speaks great English… He is the kindest and most helpful person, he provided excellent information and if we needed something, it miraculously appeared with in a couple of hours.

Villa Micia made our week on the Almafi Coast as enjoyable as possible!
