Fantastic

June 2012 - Exceptional! Beyond expectations. The view is the best of the Amalfi coast from Maori to Positano.

The location was more accessible than one could hope for with close proximity to transportation, grocery, major roads yet off the path and peaceful.

We would absolutely recommend Villa Luminosa and Praiano to anyone going to the Amalfi coast. The view, cleanliness and location make up for any bathroom or kitchen limitations.

Travel tips

  • Enjoy making dinner at home and dining on the rooftop terrace.
  • We would repeat it all again, from renting a 4-hour boat, taking cooking classes at Hosteria Il Pino, swimming on tour to Capri, walking Positano, Amalfi and Ravello before a romantic evening of music (arrange the private car vs. public transportation - the time you save is worth the investment) and dining / swimming at Il Pirata in Praiano.
  • If we were to return we would likely come April/May or September/October instead of the of June.

May 2012 - I enjoyed my stay at Villa Luminosa and would stay there again if I return to the area. The house was exactly as described on the website -- there were no surprises.

It was clean and comfortable and the location within Praiano was perfect. We really liked the church bells of San Gennaro. The beds were the best that we had on this trip. They were more comfortable than the hotel beds on Capri and in Naples. The best thing about the house was the fantastic view of Positano from the rooftop deck as well as from the two main bedrooms and the living room.

The owner Roberto was great. He stopped by once to check on something for us and also he made the checkout process very easy. For about the cost of a hotel room we were able to spread out in this lovely home in the perfect little town to use as a base to visit the Amalfi Coast.

Keep up the good work! I would not hesitate to book with you in the future or to recommend to friends. Communication was perfect.

Travel tips

  • The local bus service was very easy to use.
  • Do not miss the Bar Sole for morning cappuccino.
  • We had a great day when we hired Gennaro (limo stand next to Bar Sole) for a full day tour to Paestum and Ravello.
  • We stayed in Praiano for five nights and really enjoyed this type of slow-travel on the Amalfi Coast.

May 2012 - We really loved Villa Luminosa and being in the village of Praiano. The view was just fantastic and the terrace upstairs gave us more opportunity to enjoy the setting. Closeness to the church square and main road was great.

I would certainly refer people to your website and service.

Travel tips

  • The road from Sorrento to Praiano was closed due to damage and so we had to travel to Amalfi first. You should just be aware this may happen.
  • Day trips to Capri, Pompeii and Naples are possible by public transport.
  • Tourist office is very helpful, and English is spoken.
  • Enjoy the evening apertif at Bar de Sole.

September 2011 - We had a great time in Villa Luminosa and hope to be back in the next years.

The village is lovely, not too crowded but everything you need is available. And ver close to Positano and other villages.

Also the beach below is beautiful, and with a super atmosphere. For my pregnant wife, the walk up was a bit too much...

Be aware that you can't park your car near the house.

All together we had a great stay in Villa Luminosa.

Travel tips

  • Rent a boat for half a day near the church.

August 2011 - We had everything we needed for a great vacation. Quiet small village of Praiano, where you can forget about work, duties, problems, and just slow down for a while and take your time to relax.

We could start our days from cup of the best Italian coffee and one of the most amazing sea views ever. We could swim in the perfectly clean water (beach is 15 minutes away from the villa). We could prepare dinner by ourselves and spend evening on the roof, with candles, stars and Positano lights :)

We loved the cozy interior of our Villa Luminosa. And 4 cats (mommy and 3 kittens) living nearby. And sounds of church bells.

And Roberto - property owner is very nice young man, who showed up just once to water flowers :)

To be short: that's a right choice if you look for peaceful relaxing stay at Amalfi coast.

Travel tips

  • If you want to rent a scooter (there is a rent service right near the church) - better do that beforehand, they might not have free scooters for the same day or even for the next day.

July 2011 - The view from Villa Luminosa is fantastic and worth the rent all by itself! The house is very comfortable and has all the facilities you may need. The rooftop terrace is large and well equipped, The balcony is a more shaded alternative to the roof.

The location is excellent and the walk to the shops and restaurants is easy.

The owners representative was very helpful and friendly (also had excellent English)

We loved it and if we went to Praiano again we would be happy to stay at Villa Luminosa.

Travel tips

  • We took a boat trip to Capri with Positano Boats which was a great day out.
  • If you manage to park your car, leave it and use the buses which are very good.
  • The walk to the beach and back is tough, but that goes for every house in town.

September 2010 - We loved our stay at Villa Luminosa! The view from our balcony was breathtaking. It really felt like home for us.

Luca and his family made us feel so welcome. Everything we needed was available and we were close to all transportation, stores, banks, restaurants and bars. We loved shopping at the market for our midnight snacks of wine, cheese, salami, olives and figs!

We miss the tolling of the San Gennaro bells and the sound of the bay from our balconies! These will always be some of our most cherished memories.

We were very happy with the rental. Everything was represented truthfully.

Travel tips

  • There is no phone or internet access available at the villa and the town's public telephones did not work when we were there. So I would suggest to rent an Italian cellphone before you travel that you can add minutes to in the bar in town. There is an internet center down the road where you can either use your own laptop or one of the computers for a reasonable price.
  • Guests should realize that they will have to drag their luggage up and down the steps upon arrival and departure. If there are older people in the group you should let the owners or managers know you will need help with your luggage.

September 2010 - A lovely villa in a perfect spot with unsurpassable views!

Quiet, conveniently located, clean and well equipped, an ideal base for visiting the Amalfi Coast.

It was everything we had hoped for and more.

Travel tips

  • Walking in the hills is a must - as long as you can cope with the steps!
  • The beaches in and around the village are lovely too - much quieter than at the bigger towns.

May 2010 - A wonderful comfortable house. Excellent location and view. Easy access to facilities.

The villa was well equipped with local information, cleaning products and basic cooking ingredients. Very well stocked kitchen and crockery.

I will recommend Summer in Italy to anyone I know who is travelling to Italy. I found the website easy to navigate, flexible to book with and the personal customer service is exceptional.

Travel tips

  • Be careful with use of multiple electrics. Nothing major, would just suggest caution.

Unfortunately, Villa Luminosa can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
