Villa Idra was perfect! I was SO HAPPY we picked this villa

April 2022 - Villa Idra was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Our driver dropped us at the door where someone met us. There was a door with a hallway and elevator. No stairs to deal with when you have your luggage! The villa was so clean and bright. The tiles on the floors and in the bathrooms were so colourful. The villa was cleaned everyday. The view was amazing. We were there Easter week and the bells from the churches echoed throughout Positano. It was special! Villa Idra was perfect!

Summer In Italy is definitely the way to book. When looking online their website was very informative. I learned from a friend (who used a travel agent) about what was needed to manovre in the Amalfi Coast. I booked the villa first and then Summer In Italy (Luca and Klint) answered all my questions in a timely and friendly manner. They recommended companies to drive us and kept me informed of current Corona Virus requirements. There was no need for a travel agent. There aren’t many reviews for Villa Idra, so I was a bit reluctant to book it, but Summer In Italy assured me it was nice. They did not let me down!

Travel tips

  • Everything is close to Villa Idra.
  • We ate at some wonderful restaurants just down the hill, shops were everywhere and street venders had beautiful artwork.
  • The beach is just down the hill and that is where you can catch a ferry to Capri and other places. You do not need a car during your stay. We hired a driver to take us to different towns. There are buses, too, which some of our group took to do the Path of the Gods. Everything was so convenient!
  • We took a day trip to Capri and the Blue Grotto was definitely a highlight!
  • We also took a cooking class with Marina in Cucina and she was so delightful. It was a vigorous uphill walk that you might not want to do in the summer (there is a bus or taxi) but the April weather was perfect for a nice walk and you felt you earned your dinner! The walk back down was much easier.

Excellent

September 2019 - Villa Idra was beautiful! Every bedroom and bathroom was bright and spacious. The terrace had a beautiful view of the water. Centrally located. Kitchen was small but enough to make breakfast or snacks.

Pictures and description was spot on!

Great location - walking distance to beach, restaurants, etc.

June 2019 - We had a wonderful stay at Villa Idra! Great location - walking distance to beach, restaurants, etc.

The villa is beautiful, comfortable, and cool (good air conditioning and shutters to keep afternoon sun out). The kitchen is small and so is the living area so it wouldn’t be a great spot for groups who want to do a lot of cooking or socializing indoors at the villa. We were a family of five (parents, and 3 college age children) and ate all our meals out.

It really is a great location that doesn’t require a car or taxis for seeing Positano.

Everything went very smoothly. Wouldn’t change a thing.

Travel tips

  • Our top to do list would be Path of the Gods and if possible hire a private boat with captain to get out on the water to see the beautiful coast, swim and stay cool.
  • The beaches were not as nice as I had hoped in Positano - hot and crowded. If I were going back I’d go in September when the water would still be warm but the crowds thinned out.
  • We made dinner reservations in advance for each night and the food was delicious everywhere we ate.
