The best place in Ravello to stay at

July 2022 - This is the best place to stay on the Amalfi Coast. The villa is just 30 seconds away from the bus stop to take you to Amalfi or Positano and only a few minutes away from all shops and restaurants. It’s in a quiet and safe location and the scenery right outside of the windows is absolutely breath-taking. I’ve told all my friends and family about this particular place because it definitely is the best place in Ravello to stay at (with the best pool as well). Will 100% be booking again when visiting the Amalfi Coast!

The scenery of the villa in Ravello was what sold us to book as well as the shared pool. Definitely a fantastic experience and will be booking with Summer In Italy again for any future trips.

July 2022 - My friends and I came for a wedding. It was the most perfect location, close to the square and the bus stop to go to Amalfi!

Luigi was so welcoming and very helpful, starting off our stay so positively.

This is such a beautiful place to stay with amazing views and a perfect pool. Would definitely recommend. Thank you!

We had a lovely time

October 2021 - We had a lovely time at Villa Giannino A, was a peaceful and safe stay and the children loved the terrace.

It was a really good service, really helpful team when we had doubts of being able to make the trip because of Covid but it all worked out and we really enjoyed ourselves. Would definitely book with you again.

Travel tips

  • It's a great location to get to nearby sites -- the excavations of Pompeii, the beaches.
  • We hired a car and drove around the Amalfi Coast but there are lots of buses which run regularly. Make sure you get a ticket before you board the bus!

Our second time, and hoping for more!

September 2021 - We had the most wonderful stay at Villa Giannino A.

Luigi [the caretaker] was very responsive to all our requests and the Villa is outstanding. Luca, with Summer in Italy, provided excellent service, too. Great communication and flexibility in this time of COVID.

While it’s not a four star hotel, it has everything a rental property should have. The location is amazing. The view is astounding and Ravello is stunning! We are in our 70’s and the 60 steps to reach the property plus the comfort of the mattresses in the single bedroom and the pull out couch were not ideal, but minor concerns. This is our second stay at the Villa and we’re hoping for another one, if we’re lucky enough to make it back to Italy.

Great place!!!!! Don’t hesitate to rent it!

Travel tips

  • Our transportation from the airport, to the train and on a day trip to Pompeii were provided by Amalfi Coast Transfers. We had great service and communication from them.
  • We had a wonderful experience making mozzarella at Baggio Staiano in Ravello.

Loved our stay

July 2021 - We loved our stay at Villa Giannino A in July 2021. We enjoyed the unbelievable great view, the short distance to Ravello city center, the quietness, the terrace, the support of the staff and the next-door swimming pool.

A compliment for Luigi [the caretaker] and the staff at Summer In Italy. A compliment for the nice information emails and blogs. We will for sure check with your organisation again when making a trip to Italy.

Travel tips

  • We walked downwards to Minori Beach, for the sportive or just fit walkers very doable and a swim in the sea as a reward.
  • We rented a Vespa, super coll to do.
  • Our favorite place for dinner was Wine Bar Palazzo della Marra, excellent food and excellent wines...

Travel tips

  • Lovely places all around! You can not miss the near villas (Villa Rufolo, Villa Cimbrone), the town of Amalfi and Castiglione di Ravello Beach.
  • We bought local ceramics and limoncello from Cello.
  • We ate at the Mimi Bar Pizzeria.
  • Our suggestion is to rent a scooter to be able to enjoy the area with maximum freedom.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Villa Giannino!!!

September 2019 - We absolutely LOVED our stay at Villa Giannino!!! My husband and I stayed there during the second half of our trip and it was exactly what we wanted! We came from Sorrento and while we loved it there, Ravello offered a little more peace and quiet and relaxation!

The private terrace was EXACTLY why I booked this property and was exactly what I wanted, the pictures don't even do it justice how beautiful the view is. I woke up every morning to the sunset and could just stare at that view for hours! It was so great to come back at the end of the day and enjoy the sweeping beautiful views with a glass of wine on the terrace and have the privacy and peace and quiet that a hotel could not offer.

The walk into the town square was 2 minutes and right next to the gorgeous Villa Rufolo! Location was absolutely perfect.

We truly enjoyed our stay in Ravello at Villa Giannino!

Luigi [property manager] was extremely helpful and the communication back and forth with Summer In Italy leading up to the trip was prompt, detailed and professional. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Travel tips

  • Pizzeria Mimì is a must! Absolutely delicious pizza!
  • Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone are gorgeous, stunning grounds that are a must see!
  • Villa Giannino is right next to Restaurant Salvatore which has a very cute little restaurant/pizzeria with a gorgeous view. Definitely eat there one night for a more low key, casual dining experience.

Beautiful Villa in Ravello

August 2019 - This villa was very close to the SITA bus and town of Ravello. We were able to enjoy the beautiful sights and food with only a 5 minute walk away. The pool and views are breathtaking.

We had a minor issue with the wifi but weren't in the room much so it wasn't a major issue. It was very hot during our time there so we found it best to leave the A/C on in the bedroom in order to keep it cool.

The location is perfect - really close to cafes and Villa Rufalo but also really quiet even though it’s 2 minutes from bus stop and main tourist thoroughfare.

Gorgeous View, Lovely Stay

April 2019 - We loved our stay in Ravello. Luigi, the property manager, was super helpful and made our stay easy despite some communication issues (on my end).

We were here in early April so we got some rain a few days which made the house pretty cold - especially at night - but I imagine it's perfect during the hot summer months. If you're here early or late for the season I would definitely recommend bringing along a warm sweater and socks for the night time.

The house is very convenient to the bus stop and the main square. Everything in the apartment worked great and we had no issues. But above all, the view is incomparable!

Fantastic place

July 2018 - Fantastic place, with a breathtaking view, very private and comfortable. Such a pleasure... Really nice and clean swimming pool was a luxury!

This is true: Ravello is a romantic paradise hanged between the sky and the sea!

Travel tips

  • During the summer the buses do not arrive on time, so be patient - but the ride is thrilling.
  • There are not many groceries around, but we found one with reasonable prices: turn right just before the tunnel entering Ravello, the small shop will be on the left side of the road.
  • Buy some regional wine and cheese.
  • Villa Rufolo is a must see.
  • Walk, walk, walk a lot! The views are amazing. There are many wonderful hiking tracks nearby - secure a lot of free MB for your photos.
  • Temperatures in Ravello, in July, were milder than down on the coast, which might be a valuable tip for some of you.

Breathtaking view of one of the most beautiful bays of the region

July 2017 - Villa Giannino A is a nice and spacious apartment overlooking the mountains with a breathtaking view of one of the most beautiful bays of the region. It is located a few steps from the heart of Ravello, considered to be the pearl of the Amalfi Coast.

We received a very warm welcome and felt looked after during our stay.

Travel tips

  • There is a bus stop a few meters from the property which takes 25 minutes to the center of Amalfi.

We loved our stay

July 2017 - We loved our stay at Villa Giannino A. It was so peaceful and secluded. Beautiful view at all times. Did not use the living room or dining room as we were outside enjoying the view. Bathroom a little small but adequate. Wouldn't change a thing. We were so surprised at the lovely pool that we had access to. The pool overlooked the sea also. Incredible.

I booked Villa Giannino A first when I read the description. Summer In Italy was helpful to let us know what to expect. We loved our stay.

Travel tips

  • The bus stop was very close, up the steps and probably 100 more steps.
  • The village was walking distance and very quaint.
  • We spent a lot of time in the village, walked down to Amalfi one time, great walk.
  • Went to a grocery store in the village that had all our needs plus great wine.

Fantastic

October 2013 - We enjoyed our stay at Villa Giannino very much. The location of the apartment is just superb, a few steps to the main square in Ravello, and right next to two great restaurants.

We were there in early October. Plenty of free street parking right down the road.

The views from the apartment are spectacular, and the outdoor veranda is very big and great for lounging, outdoor dining and relaxing while taking in the jaw-dropping views.

The place was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped.

All in all a great place to stay and enjoy the best of the Amalfi Coast.

Travel tips

  • We had a car, but there is really no need for one.
  • There is a great scenic but steep walking path to Amalfi and the bus stops close by if you don't want to climb back up.
  • There is no wifi in the apartment, but the cafe next to the apartment has free wifi if you get coffee there.

Fantastic

June 2013 - The view, the view, the view!!!

Every morning, evening, and waking up in the middle of the night was a thrill!

This location can't be beat for proximity to the main square in Ravello, the bus down to Amalfi, taxis, shops and restaurants (you can hear Pato the African Grey at Salvatore's chortling away from time to time while sitting on the lovely terrace of Villa Giannino A.) We didn't even discover all the terrace until our last day.

The decor is only okay but the structure is worthy of a fine building as is evidenced in the floor tiles and the shutters.

Travel tips

  • The only things I can think of are to ask about extra pillow cases when you arrive. Also to warn you that there are only two very tiny Moka pots so coffee can take some time to prepare if you are used to LOTS of coffee in the morning as we are.
  • Don't miss BOTH famous gardens in Ravello, take the 8 hour trip to Capri, and go to a concert at Villa Rufolo if you like classical music even a little.

August 2011 - Great location, well appointed and fantastic views. Very enjoyable villa.

Stairs were a bit of a killer though (especially after a plate of pasta!).

Easy booking through Summer in Italy. Very happy with the process. Will look to possibly book another venue through SII next time we travel to Italy.

Travel tips

  • Parking is the biggest issue here. If you do have a vehicle, your best bet is to find the carpark on the other side of the piazza (back through the main road tunnel then turn left and follow the road through). It will cost you around 24 Euro a day but is much easier than trying to find a roadside park and the issues that surround having your car on the road. You can also try the parking under the auditorium.
  • Many good bars and restaurants in the piazza of Ravello (try Restaurant Cumpa' Cosimo -- great food at a very reasonable price and they will cook you something that's not on the menu if you ask plus they have a good little butcher shop attached).
  • Many good delis around the piazza but if you want a supermarket for groceries etc (especially if you plan to stay and cook) then you will need to head down the road towards amalfi to find a Spar. It is located on the single lane section of road that has the timed traffic lights and is quite a walk to get to (easy if you have a car).
  • There is a very good Macelleria (butcher) on the road beneath the villa if you want to buy meat or sausages for cooking.
  • The bar on the main street just above the villa is very cheap and convenient with great cornetti for breakfast.
  • Some excellent walking paths as well here (Ravello-Amalfi, Ravello-Minori, Ravello-Scala etc). You can get a map from the tour agent in the alleys off to the left of the piazza as you walk in from the pedestrian tunnel.

August 2011 - We had a great time at Villa Giannino. The view from the balcony was spectacular and we enjoyed having a private balcony.

The location is perfect too, within minutes from the center of Ravello. Luckily, the villa is located on the one street that allows free motorcycle parking!

We had a great experience working with Summer in Italy - very helpful representatives, always answering the phone and providing above and beyond service. I was very pleased that you took care of everything, communicated with the owner and with Wilma [the caretaker], and were always available, even during weekends. Will definitely use Summer in Italy again!

Travel tips

  • Definitely stay here, this is a very friendly place.
  • Everything in Ravello is within minutes - the cafes, Villa Rufolo is your neighbor. The views are absolutely gorgeous. The only thing is that in order to go to any of the beaches/other Amalfi Coast towns, you will need transportation since Ravello is above the sea. Don't bother with the SITA buses - rent a scooter (we used Majorauto) because that will give you so much flexibility and you will get to enjoy some amazing views during your drives.

August 2011 - Villa Giannino's big attraction is its stunning views from the villa itself and from the terraces - which are also incredible.

The location is brilliant (once you've made it down/up the steps from the road - not easy with heavy cases, so you need a certain level of fitness! )as it's close to the bus stop and just a short stroll into the centre of Ravello.

The villa has everything you need and we had a wonderful holiday.

Travel tips

  • We went to a supermarket about 10 minutes by car/bus from Ravello (we asked at Tourist Info - very helpful) as shopping in Ravello itself is a bit pricey.
  • The owner and housekeeper do not speak English and my basic language skills didn't cut the mustard so we relied on Summer in Italy's fantastic staff for help.

August 2007 - We enjoyed our stay very much. It is impossible to describe the incredible location accurately, pictures don't do it justice.

The location is also very close to the main attractions of Ravello which makes it easy to just walk out of the villa and over to the shops and restaurants and attractions.

We also did some extensive walking - down to Amalfi one day and down to Minori another. You have to be in good shape, especially to make the climb back up, but if you are I highly recommend it as you will see some amazing vistas as you walk down centuries-old stairways and past olive fields, grapevines and lemon trees.

No one was staying in Giannino B while we were there so we had the incredibly large terrace all to ourselves.

Travel tips

  • Do your food shopping at the Despar which is a couple miles down the road heading towards Minori. It's kind of built up into the cliffs.

June 2007 - The location of the villa is perfect - close to the centre of Ravello, and with the most amazing view.

The outdoor areas were outstanding - our terrace was vast and the covered area was very handy; we had frequent rain during our stay but still never had to eat indoors.

Wilma, the housekeeper, was very pleasant and helpful, and her son speaks good English.

Everything was OK and in good working order inside, but what made the apartment outstanding was the terrace.

Thank you very much for a great holiday and for being flexible about my our date of departure.

Travel tips

  • Ristorante Salvatore, next door, served good cheap pizzas to eat in or take away.
  • Cafe Calce, in the main square, served fantastic pastries.
  • The walk down to Atrani was delightful but hard on the knees as it involved over a thousand steps. But Atrani was so lovely when we got there - lovely little square that opens onto the beach. The kids loved the sea and the sand and the grown ups loved the cafe in the square - good simple cheap food.

May 2007 - We liked Giannino A, particularly the wonderful view and the excellent location.

The apartment in general was well kept and comfortable. It was good to have access to the terraces.

Coming up and down the stairs is a bit of of a chore but unavoidable in a town like Ravello (good exercise though).

Good site. We will keep on using it.

Travel tips

  • We did all you can do in Ravello, including visiting the main sites, taking long walks to the neighboring towns, visiting other sites including Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, and going to concerts at Villa Rufolo.
  • The restaurants we visited in Ravello were fine but not remarkable. Better in Amalfi and Positano.
  • It is important to find out about supermarkets in Amalfi, since the stores in Ravello are rather small, although appropriate to the town.

August 2006 - Yes, we enjoyed it. It was very clean which was to be expected since the cleaning fee was additional.

We would recommend the villa and would stay there again.

September 2005 - We had a wonderful stay at Villa Giannino A. The view is breathtaking and the location is wonderful.

Ravello is a quiet, beautiful little town and hiking the little paths around the area leads to incredible views at every turn.

We attended a concert (off-season) and were amazed at the musicianship and we were very moved by the enthusiasm of the mostly Italian audience.

The caretaker was delightful and very accommodating. She speaks very little English and we speak very little Italian and we did just fine using sign language.

We would return in a heartbeat!

Your service is amazing and your webpage is one of the best we've ever used. Speedy responses to our e-mail inquiries assisted tremendously in our trip planning. Everything was "as advertised". Thank you so much!

June 2005 - We enjoyed it immensely.

Ideal location. Close to bus stop and the main square.

Steps up to pavement level very steep, but that is perhaps the price of the view.

We are very happy with all aspects of Summer in Italy and would come again.

June 2005 - Excellent! We had a great time. Villa Giannino was better than we expected.

Very comfortable, perfect location.

We really appreciated the efforts of Summer in Italy and the owner/property manager to provide a high chair and cot for the baby.

It made things much easier.

Fantastic service. Keep up the good work and make sure you reward yourselves - you deserve it!

March 2005 - The Villa is ideal for a couple or certainly even 3 people. The town of Ravello is as charming as one could ever hope to find. We found it to surpasses the romantic tales of old Italy.

The villa is very cozy and well equiped for a holiday trip.

The view is absolutely amazing of the coastline and the surrounding villages that are scattered along the hills and valleys.

Whether you are looking for a quiet retreat to relax and have your senses inspired or a beautiful logistical spot to base your touring the Amalfi Coast, it would be difficult for a couple or small party to select a better choice than Villa Giannino.

One side note worth considering is renting both Villa A & B which would allow for an incrediable oppotunity for a larger family or two couples traveling together. You have to see it to believe the added bonus of the Villa which is the oversized terrace completely private to the guest of Giannino A & B.

Thank you for a wonderful time!

I found your web site and services to be exceptional. I was well pleased with every detail and also felt the price was quite fair for the product provided. I also appreciated the accurate depiction of the Villa and that nothing was oversold or distorted as a bait to book the Villa. I will definitely use your services again and will enthusiasticly refer you to others.

October 2004 - Indescribable! Had a perfect week aided by Mrs Maria Luisa and Wilma [the owner and the caretaker]who could not do enough for us.

Ravello is a perfect spot just being far enough out of the madding crowd to be peaceful yet close enough to bus to other destinations.

We loved mixing with the locals in the square and in our short time were made to feel very welcome by the local butcher, his wife, the general storekeeper and the elderly man who singlehandedly ran the little shop that appeared to keep everything from time immemorial to the present

We also became very fond of the church bells, one of which chimed on the quarter hour and thus you could tell the time by them even during the night.

Would we go again - tomorrow if we could!!

September 2004 - A beautiful view and the location was brilliant, only a short walk to the main square and shops.

It was very peaceful and the outside areas are very well designed.

We really enjoyed our stay and found it totally relaxing.

On your web pages you don't mention the massive barbecue area which is fantastic and a good selling point. Also the caretaker doesn't speak any English and it would be a good idea to tell us that before we arrive so we can prepare ourselves. We found your company very helpful and easy to deal with and will certainly be recommending you to other people.

June 2004 - We had a wonderful time at Villa Giannino. The photos don't do it justice. The view can only be described as absolutely amazingly breathtaking. We sat on the terrace for most of the week looking out at the sea and the mountains. Ravello is a lovely quiet little place and we certainly will return.

May 2004 - We all loved the Villa Giannino A! The view was spectacular, the accommodations were absolutely wonderful, dealing with Wilma [the caretaker] was a joy. Ravello was quiet, interesting, appealing, and gorgeous. From Ravello we were able to tour Amalfi, Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii, Paestum, Vesuvius, Vietri Sul Mare, and Positano. We even booked a tour to Rome which was great.

My husband loved it because he was able to go grocery shopping in Ravello and cook for us when we didn't feel like eating out. (However, the nearby restaurants were a culinary delight. Every meal was delicious.) He even bought freshly made Italian sausage from one of the stores in Ravello and we really feasted. We set up our terrace table and enjoyed the food and the incredible view. Every morning we had breakfast on the balcony before we set out for our day of touring, our spirits and our bodies completely refreshed and ready for our day.

Several days he and I stayed in just to rest up and because the house and the town were so terrific we didn't even feel cheated by not touring away from our villa. I spoke with several other tourists who were staying in hotels in both Amalfi and in Minori and they were quite jealous of our accommodations. I gave them your internet address and highly recommended they consult your site for their next visit to Italy.

The house was very clean and tidy when we arrived. The kitchen was well-stocked with all appliances for preparing meals. Absolutely loved the huge, soft cotton towels in the bathroom -- we use terry here in the States and it isn't nearly as luxurious as the bath towels provided in our villa.

I just can't say enough good about the house and all of your help in making our stay memorable. Before we left the States, we had some scheduling concerns and you helped us so much with all of that. Really, service above and beyond!

We are planning a trip at some future time and I will be sure to check out your website for accommodations first and foremost.

We all hated to leave. Thanks for helping to make our trip so special.

(We even got used to the 63 steps we had to climb to get to the bus stop!)

I wish I could personally speak with anyone who is planning to book through your business for the first time. I was a bit nervous and hesitant because I have never booked through an internet service before. I finally decided to do it because of the responses I read from people who had stayed in houses which they booked through you. I am so glad that I did. The house was even better than presented. And your help in accommodating our special requests was worth its weight in gold. Whenever I had a question, your response was very quick in coming and you always tried to help. Anyone planning a trip to Italy would do quite well to plan their vacation stay through Summer In Italy. The hardest thing will be to choose which house or villa they want to stay in. Once that decision is made, the rest is easy! And the descriptions and the pictures can be totally trusted and relied upon. There were no horrible surprises with the area or the villa. Everything surpassed its representation on your website. You folks are absolutely terrific!

Unfortunately, Villa Giannino A can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
