July 2011 - We had a great time at Villa Fabia. We were provided with a beautiful welcome pack and there were lots of very helpful leftovers (like washing powder etc) which helped until we got to the shops!

The insect screens were great (and very necessary), as were the fans - it was very very hot! (stronger fans would be better if that was an option! And some of the insect screens needs fixing...)

Excellent - easy, straightforward, helpful.

Travel tips

  • We left some advice of things to do at the villa, but suggest the local towns: Stimigliano (the top part), Collevecchio, Orte.
  • The pizza place close to the villa is good, and the Soratte outlet centre is worth a visit.

July 2011 - We enjoyed our stay very much. We were so grateful for the very generous welcome basket.

The pool was so refreshing after some of our day trips. We went to Spoleto and Rieti we enjoyed both very much.

We loved shopping at the local markets the people very friendly and helpful. The food was very fresh in the markets. We loved the restaurant in Collevecchio, L'Officina del Gusto, Roberto was fabulous. We all (9) of us took his cooking class it was one of the highlights of our trip. We enjoyed the country much more than Roma.

We hope to go back one day. Ciao.

Everyone was so helpful. All 9 of us were so pleased with the Villa. When figuring the cost of 5 rooms, eating every meal out compared to the cost of the villa for the week this was a great value.

Travel tips

  • When taking the train back to Collevecchio the station there is actually called Collevecchio-Poggio Sommavilla.
  • You need a car.

September 2010 - Beautiful location. Villa had a lovely, rustic and relaxed feeling about it.

Many thanks to Cecilia, the owner, for keeping the place beautifully clean.

Excellent service and communication throughout - made the whole experience very straight forward and pleasant.

Travel tips

  • Definately need a car. Everything is a steep hill away!
  • Local train station, Collevecchio, is on the direct line for Rome (7 euros for an all day ticket, which covers the metro and buses in Rome too). 1 hour to Rome (get off at Tiburtina and head down to the metro).
  • Train from Orte to Florence, 3 hours but well worth the effort.

July 2010 - We enjoyed ourselves, absolutely!

Travel tips

  • Orvieto is very much recommended! The trip to Viterbo wasn't worth the effort. On the other hand was it worth some miles to get to both Perugia and Siena.
  • To go by train to Rome was simple and it's easy to park by the train station of Collevechio.

July 2008 - We enjoyed our stay at the villa. It is very quiet and in a non touristy area.

The villa was very spacious and you never felt cramped or on top of one another.

We were supplied with everything we needed and the welcome hamper was very big and a lovely touch.

Travel tips

  • You definitely need a car if you stay here unless you intend not to leave the villa!
  • It is perfect if you like to be in a non touristy area where not many people speak English. It feels like you experience 'real' Italy. However, it is still close to Rome with good train links.

August 2007 - The Villa Fabia is located inland and it is excellent for people that want to visit this particular area and experience the wonderful Italian countryside, villages and towns. The distance from the motorway to Rome or Florence is about 20km.

We rented the Villa Fabia for two weeks from 7 August 07 until 21 August 07 and we visited cities, villages and towns from Florence down to Tivoli, including Rome. It was excellent and in fact very valuable to have our base so central to all these places.

In between we enjoyed the Villa Fabia facilities such as the pool and excellent facilities and silence that a villa in the countryside does offer. Delicious food was sold in the nearby village Collevecchio were prices were good and quality was fine.

Large two bedrooms upstairs, one with a private bath and shower and a large hall upstairs for TV etc. Downstairs two bedrooms and a bathroom as well as two large living rooms and a large kitchen.

We enjoyed the stay and we are grateful for excellent service and having met the wonderful people that manage the house and Summer In Italy.

At first we were a little uncertain of your service but it was all fine and all that was said was as it did work out. If we were renting a villa again in Italy we will come back to you. You and your staff did an excellent job and we are very grateful for that. Thank you very much for your help and advices.

Villa Fabia is inland and suits best people that want to visit that area or want to enjoy the silence in the countryside. No tourist and no hassle or stress. Very quiet (except the animals on the next farm).

Travel tips

  • This is an old house on two floors. External walls about 80 cm thick and the summer heat does stay out and temperature inside fairly comfortable.
  • All necessary equipment is there such as TV and DVD for the kids and the house is very spacious and easy to manipulate.
  • The owner and house manager are wonderful people and very helpful. In fact nothing to worry about. The road to the house is all tarmac but in the dark one need to be certain of how to get there. But when done this once, no problemo.
  • We visited many of the towns and villages in Lazio and Umbria, from Florence down to Tivoli and all the places we came to were interesting and worth the tour. The Assisi is a must for anyone. We went to the sea side but it was not so nice. Staying at the villa was fine, the pool was fine and to sleep and rest was easy, very quiet and temperature comfortable. Excellent place for a holiday to rest away from busy cities.
  • If you like old houses and quiet area then this is the place to go to. House and plot very spacious on a hill-top and trees and bushes are surrounding the area and closing the plot from the eyes of visitors. Very private and very quiet and very interesting area for people that wants to see the villages and towns in Lazio and Umbria. Toscana is not that far so no problem to go there but Umbria and Lazio is nearer.

Lovely and cool inside despite the heat outside. Masses of space inside and out. Great pool. Really good for relaxing.

Well equipped with items you don't always get plus excellent welcome pack.

Very pleased with all aspects of Summer in Italy. Would certainly use again or recommend.

Travel tips
