July 2012 - Perfect place if you stay there and don't go out every day, since there are app 200 stairs to climb from the villa to the road.
Travel tips
- Don't take to much things with you because you will have to drag them up.

June 2012 - The view is stunning from every window. The villa was quiet and private. Do not let the thought of all those steps keep you from choosing the Villa Eugenia. Unless you have health issues you will find them not that daunting. I'm 64 and, shall we say, less than skinny and I had no problem. The walk into town is easy - but not something for small children without adult supervision.
The villa was very clean on our arrival. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The bathrooms were modern - nice showers.
The electricity was a little "spastic" at times, but this is true of most of Italy. Get over it. Just reset the circuit breaker and go sit on one of the many verandas with a glass of wine and enjoy the view!
The owners and their family were lovely people and someone was always available to solve any problems or answer any questions.
If you are looking for peace and quiet and a million dollar view - yet within easy reach of any of the twelve cities that surround the Amalfi coast (Capri as well), Villa Eugenia is the place to stay.
Everything went as planned and no surprises. Luca and everyone we had contact with were just super. I don't know what more you could ask for. I would have no problem recommending Summer in Italy to anyone.
Travel tips
- No need for a car. In fact I believe it would be a mistake. The entire Amalfi Coast, Capri, Vesuvius, etc etc. is within easy reach by cab, bus, limo, and or boat.
- You can find whatever you need right in Maiori. We booked limo service on line. Took us from Naples to Maiori and back. On time! And there is at least two places in town where you can catch a boat ride to many places.
- As usual in Italy, it was impossible to find a bad meal in Maiori. The seafood pizza at the Nettuno restaurant on the beach was mind blowing! If you enjoy just sitting in town, people watching, try the "Kings" about halfway up the Corso Reginna on the right. They have a nice seating area outside and great service.

July 2010 - Great location. Steps down to Villa are a bit of a nuisance - but very little you can do about this - improved your fitness by the end of the week.
Our hosts were very accommodating. I would highly recommend Villa Eugenia to anyone.

July 2010 - We loved it. We didn't mind the stairs or the distance from town at all- that's the price you pay for the tranquility of the house and swimming area.
We really liked dealing with you. We got quick responses to emails. It was easy. We really enjoyed the house. Nothing but good things to say about the experience.
Travel tips
- We enjoyed hanging out at the house and swimming in the ocean. We were at the end of a three week tour of Europe and just wanted some rest and relaxation. The house was perfect for that. I could have stayed here for months...

June 2010 - My husband, daughter, son-in-law and I stayed at Villa Eugenia for a week and we had an absolutely wonderful time.
To begin with, Pietro was a terrific host who went out of his way on several occasions to make our stay happy and comfortable. We would have loved to spend more time with him because he's such a warm, endearing fellow!
The view was breath-taking -- as was the climb up the stairs every day! But we must be in good shape for old geezers because we typically made the climb a couple of times a day and walked into town and back without getting tired. We loved being able to walk down to the sea to swim, too!
The villa is nice and quiet -- and even came with a pussycat who dropped by to say hi on occasion. The bedrooms were perfect and each of us loved being able to see out the windows toward the village and the sea as went went to sleep and then again as we woke up. There were some fantastic thunderstorms one evening and the view of lightning was spectacular. We loved sitting out on the terrace that Pietro recently improved with an awning.
We couldn't have been happier than we were at Villa Eugenia. I've rented through Luca and Summer In Italy a couple of times now and I heartily recommend the company to any vacationer.
Travel tips
- Our kids loved walking to Restaurant Torre Normanna for pizza, and we all enjoyed our day trips to Ravello, Paestum, Positano and Amalfi.
- Try some of Pietro's sister's wine (which he leaves for guests to purchase). We thought it was very good.
- If you like cooking, there are lots of great shops in Maiori. We went to the larger grocery store (just off the main strip) for a lot of our purchases, but there's also a smaller one right on the main street that has great selection and service.
- We don't speak Italian, but it wasn't a problem at all. Everyone was very helpful.
- For young women, there's a terrific little boutique on the main strip (I can't remember the name -- it's a white building right across from the beach). The young lady in there is really cute and knows her style! When I tried on a jacket, she made me take it off immediately, exclaiming, "It's horrible! Horrible!!!"

October 2009 - We (2 adults and 3 children aged 8, 8 and 11) had a pleasant stay at Villa Eugenia in late October 2009.
Villa Eugenia has a beautiful view of the sea and the cape from the whole long terrace, and all the rooms.
The access to a small private swimming area is luxury, although swimming there requires some skills (we had quite stormy weather and high waves on some days).
The rooms and furnishings are comfortable and the outdoor areas have a lot of chairs and tables.
The 250 steps are not a problem for normally fitted people, and there was always a race among the children.
It was off season so parking the station wagon to the reserved place on the main coast road was not a big problem, although required some skills.
We definitely enjoyed Villa Eugenia and of the 6 vacation houses (4 in Italy) we have rented so far, this is a place we could return at some point. And we recommend it to all active people who enjoy the sea.
Travel tips
- Besides that Villa Eugenia is a nice place to stay it also has an excellent location for traveling the coastline. But remember that the roads are narrow and traffic can be slow.
- There are a lot of hiking trails with beautiful views, buy a guide book/map and head for the trails!
- Small nearby towns Maiori, Amalfi, Positano and Ravello on the mountains are worth visiting. If you have time it is also quite easy to visit Salerno, Naples, Sorrento and Pompeii etc.

September 2009 - We enjoyed it very much, although problems with the breakers was constant, we learned to live with it.
The stairs are a challenge if you are not physically fit and the parking spot can be a headache as people poached it on numerous occasions and there is no where to park but back in town, then take a bus home!!
That being said the Villa is breathtaking and the owner is fantastic!
The beach is a bit to far to swim to but we didn't care. And whoever said you could swim to town must be an Olympic athlete!!
Travel tips
- Come on the bus, parking is a pain in the butt.
- Bring floatation devices.
- Learn to conserve power so the breakers don't blow.

October 2008 - Rested at the Villa Eugenia from 20 September to 5 October 2008. Villa fantastic! The first week went virtually nowhere not - enjoyed types of windows, recreational facilities. There have been at the villa company from 4 adults and 2 children. All petty our requests were promptly dealt with the owner. Rest wonderful! Now it already looks tale.
The owner of the villa Pietro has been very responsive! Together with his brother on a boat and row of children in the nearby grotto. Impressions unforgettable!
Counters with girlfriend step of the road before descending to the sea - about 350! Villa somewhere in between. On the morning obtained a different charge! Up until the road down to the sea again up and down and swim! Returned to St. Petersburg pohudevshie! Pity that went without underwater equipment. We must necessarily take the costume, mask, flippers and stuff ... in the Tyrrhenian Sea have to see! The depth of about 9 meters downhill .. therefore, with children every day go to city beach. About 1.5 kilometers. Beach clean, nobody!, as the Italians already started in the winter! All coastal cafes stay, chaise lounges by the end of maternity leave have not been - but we are not frustrated, we arranged air temperature of more than (25-27 degrees)!
There was no heat and stuffiness and children (under 6 years) have experienced excellent holiday! We have learned that not a mistake by choosing exactly this time!
Recommended Villa Eugenia to leave, but keep in mind that travel with children and no men in the villa - not an option!
Prior to the nearest town Maiori OK. 1.5 kilometers of mountain serpentine, no sidewalks, walk to the city is dangerous enough during the day, not something that night. Therefore, a family vacation should be carried out in full force! But even if no children - a better option not think of any! Let's dream of returning to Amalfiyskoe coast and at the Villa Eugenia!
Thank you for your attention to the guests of Italy. Summer in Italy has been truly unforgettable! Let's dream of returning to Italy!
Anna, Denis, Natalia, Sergei, Alexandra and Elizoveta.
Travel tips
- If you love to swim - spare no place in the luggage!
- In Salerno, take the car to hire - and on the coast! Rental many: and Eurocar, and Avis, and Hertz and many more! A week Minivan in Eurocar from Salerno to the letting of Rome has cost us 660 euros.

August 2008 - At Villa Eugenia you are presented with a daily choice. 240 steps up to the road or 80 steps down to the sea. The sea won every time.
You can either enjoy swimming in your own private pool (aka the Mediterranean See) from the privacy of the jetty, or if you are feeling more sociable, undertake the five minute swim to the local beach.
For your shopping needs you can just swim the fifteen minutes round the coast to Maiori, pick up your groceries at the beach-side supermarket, hire a pedalo to deliver your shopping to the villa, then return the pedalo and swim home. This is what we did. It's very practical, works up an appetite for your supper and sure beats the Tesco run back home.
If you fancy braving the steps up to the road the local restaurant (Hostaria Santa Maria) serves excellent and inexpensive pasta, fizzy red wine on tap and as much complimentary limoncello as you can drink (be careful not to fall down the stairs on the way back though). The waiter, Alessio, has a very cute and friendly dog called Lucky.
If visiting in August we can recommend floating on your back in the water at midnight looking up at the sky for shooting stars.
The villa's owner Pietro is very helpful and friendly. If you are lucky he may pay you a visit in one of his boats and take you for a spin along the coastline.
His sister has a local vineyard that produces very good wine (Pietro might supply you with a bottle or two if you ask nicely).
Maiori is a lovely unspoilt little town, All the foreign tourists seem to go to Amalfi and Positano, leaving Maiori free for the locals (and of course you..)
Travel tips
- No need to hire a car.
- Take the boat (Metro del Mare) round the coast from Napoli to Minori, from where it is a short cab or bus ride to the villa.
- Not having a car wasn't even a problem for the return journey as Pietro arranged for a friend (in return for a small payment) to drive us to the airport.
- If you're going into Maiori we highly recommend the Paisa restaurant on the high street. The food is inexpensive, delicious and far more than you can eat (we had to request a doggy bag).

May 2008 - We enjoyed Villa Eugenia very much.
The views are incredible from the back side of the villa. It is almost carved into the mountain side.
As with other reviews on file, the steps to the villa are a little intimidating, but we got used to them after a day or two.
Pietro, the owner, was very helpful and accommodating.
We would definitely book with Summer in Italy again. The variety of accommodations means you can find something for everyone. Everyone we corresponded with was very helpful and made our experience very enjoyable.
Travel tips
- Driving in Amalfi can be a harrowing experience, so be prepared!
- Definitely take a trip to Capri!!!!

October 2007 - We were a family of 7 and this villa was more than adequate for all of us.
The location is unbelievable, close to everything, including Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Rome.
We rented a car and had absolutely no problems with the driving, the only advice I have though is invest in a GPS with Europe on it, we even drove to Rome and asked it to find a parking garage, we got one a block from the Colosseum!
The steps are a little challenging, but they usually gave me a 5 minute headstart, so I would not hold the younger ones up.
Rent this villa, it is well worth it!

August 2007 - Villa Eugenia is an excellent place to relax, the view is unrepeatable, all was excellent. Parking is just for one car, it will be hard to park a second car near by.
If you have a lot of heavy baggage the steps to the villa can be difficult. The sea at the villa is 10 meters depth, if you have small kids bring life vests.
But for us everything worked very well. We will be staying at Villa Eugenia again next summer :).

August 2006 - We had a great two weeks at the Villa Eugenia. The location is great - perfect for seeing & visiting the Amalfi coast, from Sorrento to Paestum - and the views from the terrace are stunning, making those steps more than worthwhile.
The villa itself is light & airy, spacious & comfortable. On top of all that, the owner Pietro is friendly, helpful and quick to get any problems fixed. And he also has a very nice boat! :)
Just a couple of points for future visitors. The swimming platform is great, but best for children well able to swim themselves. The nearby beach has a bar on it which plays loud music at weekends which can be a little annoying, but doesn't go on too late. And that coast road is lethal - don't plan on travelling too much - any further than we went will take you hours!
We had a wonderful stay and would definitely go back.
I booked because the price was right, the property was right, and the website was easy to use. Also because the customer service has been good - all my emails were answered quickly and courteously. Thanks!

July 2006 - We were looking for nice location with excellent view close to see. That is what we had in Villa Eugenia.
We really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend to anybody. Before arriving I was afraid of stairs (257 of them) since we had older persons with us but turned out that was not such a big problem.
Keep good work. It was pleasure dealing with Summerinitaly.

June 2006 - Lovely villa with the most amazing views.
Nicely located for trips along the Amalfi coast. The steps are quite demanding though - if you aren't fit when you begin your holiday, you will be when you finish!
Thank you for your friendly and professional help, I shall definitely recommend Summer in Italy to my friends.

April 2006 - We had a spectacular time at the Villa Eugenia. The views were unparalleled and on par with any on the Amalfi Coast.
Pietro [the owner] was the perfect host, and went above and beyond in making us comfortable and making our stay memorable.
The many steps that led from the road to the villa were a small price to pay for the location, literally built right into the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast. Maiori was in a perfect location to use as a "home base" to see the sights of Amalfi and Atrani, as well as Cetara, Vietri, and Salerno.
We recommend the Villa Eugenia without reservation to all who are seeking the best in Italian hospitality, beauty, and relaxation.
Thank you, Pietro! We hope to return soon!

March 2006 - Our stay in Villa Eugenia was a wonderful, memorable experience.
The view is absolutely magnificent and mesmerizing. One has a "picture window" on Ravello and the sea from every room in the villa.
The steps (as some may refer to as "daunting")offer an opportunity to take brief breaks to take in different perspectives of this beautiful location.
The owner, Pietro, was extremely attentive and helpful and even offered us the possibility to tour his family's wine and olive oil production businesses.
We highly recommend this villa to others wishing to visit the Amalfi Coast. We will certainly re-book in the future.
Summer-in-Italy has one of the most user friendly web-sites I have ever experienced. Without the need and time required to send and respond to e-mail inquiries as to availability and prices, one can "visit" and look at potential villas to rent and make final decisions in the course of a single internet session. My only regret is that more of Italy is not covered (ie. Cinque Terra).

October 2005 - Hi, we had a fantastic time at Villa Eugenia.
The villa has the most outstanding panoramic view imaginable.
It is spacious and comfortable in many ways.
The best was lying in bed and seeing Ravello all lit up at night.
It offers the opportunity to swim as the sea is just below the balcony.
Like in most villas in the area, there are steps to climb. It is best to be in shape as you will get your exercise everyday. We loved it.
The kitchen provided all that was necessary.
The owner Pietro, was wonderful and was always attentive if we needed anything.
Thanks for a great vacation.

August 2005 - Villa Eugenia was great value for money, and the finest view of the sea I have ever enjoyed.
The villa is unusually well equiped. The owner is a nice guy.
Do not be frightened by the number of steps to the road. It is not such a big issue, and we hardly ever used them maximum once a day for the shopping.
The private beach is just really nice, if you want a bigger place no problem to swim 100 meter to the public one.
The description of the number of the steps is really frightening, so it should be mentioned, that it is not as bad as it seems to be.

July 2005 - Villa Eugenia is a great place to stay on the Amalfi Coast thanks to proximity of the charming villages of Maiori and Minori (only 5-10 minutes drive), and not very far from Naples - 1hour, Pompei - 45 min, and the touristic places of Amalfi - 20 min and Sorrento - 1 hour.
The villa is simply but very confortable furnished (good bedding, very lovely and modern bathrooms). We enjoyed a lot staying on the terrace which has almost all day a shady place and this spectacular view on the blue sea and on the lemon tree hill.
We had no problem finding parking places (end of June period).
The only point you have to take care of choosing the villa Eugenia is the numerous amount of steps which could make it difficult for older people or with young children.
We definitely recommend it and would be ready to stay there an other time.

October 2004 - We spent our honeymoon at Villas Eugenia in Maiori.
The apartment was excellent, there is an unbelievable amount of room. It was clean and well presented with everything we needed. The views are stunning and it's very relaxing.
Pietro the owner was very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, he even came to visit on his boat.
The area is lovely with great restaurants, we found it nicer not staying in the town.
The service from Summer in Italy has been first class, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

July 2004 - Villa Eugenia was a fantastic location and the hospitality of our host, Pietro, was an unexpected bonus.
The views from Villa Eugenia both during the day and in the evening were unmatched in our tour of the Amalfi coast.
Our family also greatly enjoyed the swimming area on the ocean and the short swim over to the beach was a welcome daily adventure. Be ready for the steps and you will thoroughly enjoy your time.
You did a good job.
Unfortunately, Villa Eugenia can not be booked at this time.
