Fantastic
June 2013 - We loved the opportunity to stay in such unique accommodations. It was like living in a castle. The gardens and view were unbeatable! The villa is not luxurious, it's an ancient watchtower, but we had everything we needed and it was a once in a lifetime experience for us and it was fantastic!
The caretaker, Luca, was extremely friendly and helpful and his family owned the grocery store at the top of the steps and they were incredibly kind and accommodating.
The only downside to our entire stay was the trek up and down the stairs each day. It's equivalent to a 21 story building! The climb did become easier each day though and I would absolutely recommend Villa Don Ferrante to my friends.
Travel tips
- Be prepared for the steps!
- The residents of Praiano were very, very kind. Angela's grocery store had everything we needed and if they didn't, they found it for us.
- Bar Sole was a daily stop for us for iced coffees and cappuccinos and you can buy the bus tickets there.
- The food and service at Hotel Smeraldo restaurant was excellent. The Trattoria San Gennaro had HUGE calzones, enough to make two meals out of our lunch. Ristorante La Brace was an excellent meal but we weren't made to feel welcome like we were in the other restaurants in town.
- We hiked the trail up to Convent San Domenico and then past the convent to the Path of the Gods. It was difficult but by far the best and most memorable part of our trip!
- We took a taxi to Positano one day, which we thought was a little expensive and we took a water taxi home from Positano, which was even more expensive. We also rode the bus to Amalfi which was definitely more economical and Sita runs nice air conditioned coach buses all along the coast.

Very good
June 2013 - We enjoyed Villa Don Ferrante very much, even that much we think about returning next year. The views are marvelous and the easy access to the sea is pure joy.
You did great, really helpful with advice and extra requests.
Travel tips
- Hire a boat in Positano to arrive at Villa Don Ferrante, the stairs are hell with luggage.
Unfortunately, Villa Don Ferrante can not be booked at this time.
We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
