Very good

May 2012 - Positano is beautiful! We enjoyed our stay at Villa Canovaccio. It's ideal for a family. We loved having a light dinner in the dining area.

The villa is comfortable and the price is right.

You were all wonderful! Thank you for all of your help! I would definitely recommend you and use you again.

Travel tips

  • We came to Positano from Naples, so we had our driver stop at a store outside of Sorrento to buy groceries.

July 2011 - Fabulous location in a great town. Air conditioned in all rooms, 2 showers were great. Kitchen had all amenities but stove top wasn't conducive for using the aluminum pans. We would have liked to cook dinner once or twice but didn't have the proper pans.

Booking process was quite easy and we were very happy with the results.

Travel tips

  • Day trips to Capri and Amalfi were fabulous. Ate out every night and never had a meal less than wonderful.
  • Bring ant spray -- any food left around attracts tiny ants.

April 2011 - Perfect place for a get away with friends. Was really easy to negotiate with owner and company and the place was very clean. We were close to town and had a great view. The place is really big for the price. The only annoying thing was that you had to walk to one bedroom to get to the toilet at night. But not a big issue.

We had a great time here and I would really recommend it to others.

Travel tips

  • Enjoy yourself! The little supermarket around the corner next to Hotel Franca (or something) provided all our needs for a week.

October 2010 - The appeal of Villa Del Canovaccio was in that it felt like you were living in an authentic Italian home - not a hotel/apartment atmosphere, which is exactly what I was wanting and the impression given on the internet was exactly the same in reality.

September 2010 - Our initial reaction to the villa was that it appeared a bit run down and uncared for by the owners, and what could have been spectacular was less so. While the caretaker Mrs. Lina had thoroughly cleaned the villa (and she proved to be very helpful and everything positive), the place needs some updating, especially in the terrace area.

Having said that, furniture is old, comfortable and clean; main bed is comfortable. The fridge and washing machine are new and clean. Kitchen is reasonably well stocked but missing a few small essentials which hopefully the owner will address.

The location is great for access to restaurants, and a walk with the kids on the road or stairs down to the centre of town and beach is not a problem, especially since the shuttle bus is so convenient for that long climb back up.

Travel tips

  • The location is great with a wonderful view from a plant covered terrace (an essential when the sun is so strong).
  • There are several great restaurants in easy walking distance. See Trip Advisor listing of the top 10 - we agreed with the ratings since we tried the top 5, except "Le Terrazze" which we thought exorbitantly over priced.
  • If the climb up all the steps back is too much after a good meal and wine, the shuttle bus stops right in front of the villa.
  • There is not much grocery shopping in town so make sure you stock up on most of what you want at the larger grocery stores on the highway near Naples, Pompeii or probably Sorrento, if you plan to do much cooking in the villa.
  • You don't need to buy water as you can drink from the tap.
  • For non-Italians, the only foreign language TV channel available is BBC News which comes and goes depending on the weather (re: satellite interference).

July 2010 - An absolutely marvellous villa. It really felt like a home, not just like a vacation apartment with some simple boring furniture.

And the view... there was a fantastic view from every room, and the terrace felt like a garden.

I am very pleased with everything.

June 2010 - We had a wonderful stay.

The only real problem was the downstairs bathroom where the toilet seldom worked. We reported this several times. The villa does need a lot of repair work. If someone put some money into fixing it up, it would be a real treasure. For what we wanted, it was perfect, but some of the furnishings do need to be upgraded.

We used the kitchen everyday with no problems.

Would I return? Absolutely. The view made it worth every penny. On the whole it was terrific.

We were quite pleased with Summer In Italy and would use you again.

June 2010 - Very pleasant and relaxing. The Villa was quite spacious, however in need of an update - particularly the bathrooms.

Travel tips

  • Positano is a comfortable walk (we walked rather than taking the local bus - which travels by every 30 mins from the square). Walk down to all the local beaches.
  • Local restaurants very handy - again walking distance.
  • Worth making most of day trips to Amalfi (bus there and ferry back) and to Capri.

Unfortunately, Villa Del Canovaccio can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
