The views are simply outstanding!

October 2019 - The views are simply outstanding! The location, and most impressively the deck overlooking the sea, are second to none.

Far enough away from downtown to avoid the crowds but close enough to walk in 10 minutes or less.

Summer In Italy was outstanding from start to finish. Very professional and responsive.

Located right where the action began

August 2019 - Villa Clessia worked wonderfully for our family. We traveled with two children under two, so being on the main road in town for us was perfect. It let us use a stroller, which would have been nearly impossible otherwise.

The villa was located right where the action began, so we were close enough to quickly get to restaurants and shops without the noise we would of had if we'd stayed right in the center of town.

We really enjoyed this place.

The booking process was very smooth, thank you.

Travel tips

  • Positano was a great place to stay for day trips. With ferries to most towns along the coast, you can quickly get to everywhere. I am so glad we chose to stay in Positano, rather than anywhere else along the coast.

Charming design and architecture

July 2019 - Charming design and architecture. Works perfectly for party of 6-7. Views are stunning.

Roberto [the owner] was great help.

Summer In Italy was wonderful. Responsive to our touring request (Pompeii / Mount Vesuvius tours was wonderful). Would use again and highly recommend.

Travel tips

  • Use the market 100 yards down the hill on the right. Fresh produce, excellent wine selection and great prepared dishes as well.

It was in the perfect location, was very spacious and had amazing views

May 2019 - We loved Villa Clessia. It was in the perfect location, was very spacious and had amazing views. I would definitely recommend.

The host was so helpful to us. When our ferry from Positano was cancelled, he got on the phone for us to arrange for a taxi service to take us to Sorrento to catch the other ferry to Capri and called the ferry office to try to refund our tickets. He really went above and beyond for us.

Travel tips

  • Very close to the market and the town.
  • Pretty central to both beaches (and I would recommend visitors seeing both).

The location is ideal as it’s directly off a road and only a few steps to the front door

May 2019 - We were thrilled with this villa and will definitely return. There were only two couples, but the space is huge!

We literally spent 90% of our time on the terrace. The views are spectacular. The location is ideal as it’s directly off a road and only a few steps to the front door.

One thing to note is that if you’ll be using all bedrooms, you’ll have to walk through one of the middle one on the main level to get to the third if there’s bad weather, otherwise you can reach all three bedrooms (which are in a row) from the outside terrace walkway because each room has a door to the outside.

We will definitely return for another week in paradise!

We’re thankful for your help in securing the villa.

Very clean and relaxed place to stay! Highly recommended!!

May 2019 - I would definitely recommend this place. The negatives are that the showers are not enclosed, and the kitchen is not great for cooking, but the terrace, dining room, and living room are amazing!

We loved the view from the family room and the terrace. The cover over half of the terrace worked really well for us.

The location is perfect so we had a wonderful view of the sea and also a 20 minute walk to the beach. Great restaurants were close!

Very clean and relaxed place to stay! Highly recommended!!

Summer In Italy is great! So responsive and easy to work with!! No problems at all! Villas are even better than depicted on the web site!

Travel tips

  • We loved sitting on the terrace of the villa.
  • We loved Chez Black on the beach.

October 2018 - Villa Clessia was great. We had six people stay comfortably. It had everything you could possibly need and the views were stunning. Each day someone in the group commented on our postcard scenery.

Summer In Italy was a huge resource when it came to booking the villas as well as providing advice on transportation and activities. We couldn't have done it without Luca.

Travel tips

  • Everything is within walking distance - shops, restaurants, city center, etc.
  • When coming back from the beach or city center, the road was an easier incline than the steps!
  • We LOVED our private boat tour around the coast and Capri. Captain Roberto at Blue Star Positano Boat Tours and Rentals was a great host.
  • I would highly recommend Marina in Cucina Positano for Foodies for cooking classes.
  • Enjoyed drinks on the roof of Hotel Poseidon.

I would highly recommend it

September 2018 - We just recently returned from a 5 night stay at Villa Clessia and loved it. The villa was in an excellent location. You will enter it from the street level going up approximately 12 steps which made it very easy when arriving with a lot of bags. The villa was equipped with all the conveniences of home. The view is spectacular and the many terraces offered a feeling of openness throughout the rooms. I would highly recommend it.

I would also like to comment that both Summer In Italy and the owner were a pleasure to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with Summer In Italy and I would highly recommend you to anyone I know who is travelling in this area.

Travel tips

  • Everything is very accessible. The only thing I would mention is to make sure you know bus schedules if you are travelling from one town to the next or you could waste some time waiting.
  • There are so many great restaurants within walking distance.

April 2018 - The view was spectacular, better than I imagined. The villa is very spacious. You feel like you have your own home in Positano.

I saw many references to Summer in Italy in reviews online. Everything went smoothly with the booking, Luca responded and answered all questions promptly. No complaints.

Travel tips

  • The location is good, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Be prepared to walk up and down many stairs (about 300) to get down to the main beach area. There is a market close by, along with a few restaurants to chose from.
  • We enjoyed day trips to Pompeii and Capri. There are agencies on the main beach that can arrange trips for you.
  • Get a pair of sandals made at Nana's down the street.

We loved it

July 2017 - We loved it. The view from the terrace is to die for. The three bedrooms on the main floor are great with wonderful views with outside terrace access. The single bedroom on the floor above is dark with no view. Relatively easy walk to the water.

We booked with Summer In Italy as it has a well earned reputation for listing great residences on the Amalfi Coast. The staff was very responsive and prompt in addressing all our concerns. We certainly plan to rent through Summer In Italy again. Thank you!

Travel tips

  • We rented a cabin cruiser to see the Amalfi Coast - jumping into the water several times.
  • Eat at Restaurant Donna Rosa and Restaurant La Tagliata.
  • The Walk of the Gods hike for sure.

September 2014 - Villa Clessia is a beautiful place to stay in Positano.

The location is perfect, not to far to walk to the beach, ferry, or bus stop. The little market is close by, and there are several restaurants in the vicinity that are very good.

The best part of Villa Clessia however, is Roberto [the owner] and his cleaning staff. We showed up extremely early for our stay, but were immediately welcomed to the villa. Roberto explained how everything in the villa worked, made sure that we were comfortable with everything, and made sure that we had a number where we could reach him if we had any further questions or needed any further assistance.

I would not only stay at Villa Clessia again, but I would not hesitate to stay at any property managed by Roberto, or recommended by Summer in Italy in the future.

This is the second time we have booked with Summer in Italy, and we have not been disappointed with anything either time. The descriptions are accurate, the pictures are realistic, and the reviews are honest. If you are thinking of booking a villa in Italy, please consider Summer in Italy, I have found that they are honest, reliable, and they make the whole process easy to negotiate.

Thank you Roberto and Summer in Italy for a most enjoyable vacation in Positano.

May 2014 - Villa Clessia is in a great location with lots of restaurants and also a supermarket close by.

The villa is as described in the photos. It has two large living areas and three large bedrooms (two exceptionally so - the third is not as large but does have its own bathroom). The fourth bedroom is basically a single but has its own ensuite).

The villa has two dining tables and chairs on the balcony as well as sun lounges so is a great area to enjoy the views.

It was an easy walk down the steps to the beach areas and we wandered back by the road (this is easier than the steps).

The balcony is fantastic and views are simply stunning.

We were a party of six and had a fabulous time.

Summer In Italy was very good. Received telephone call immediately upon initial booking and all our questions after that were answered promptly.

Would have no hesitation in using Summer In Italy again.

Travel tips

  • Sit back and enjoy the view.
  • We hired a driver and enjoyed a day travelling around the area to Ravello, etc.
  • You can catch the ferry to Capri (and visit the Blue Grotto) and Sorrento.
  • The area has so much to see and do with many local walks to enjoy the views.
  • Lots of restaurants however if you want to go to Restaurant da Vincenzo you should book as it is very popular.

May 2014 - My family of seven enjoyed our stay at the Villa Clessia very much. The terrace and main rooms were comfortable, roomy and bright, and the view of the town and sea was fantastic.

The owner was reliable and helpful when needed.

September 2012 - My family had a fantastic time at Villa Clessia. The view is amazing. The large terrace is wonderful for having our meals at night.

The living room is good for relaxing at night.

Roberto [the owner] was very helpful and spent the time with us to explain how everything works.

Would highly recommend Villa Clessia to my friends in Australia.

Very impressed with the assistance received from Summer in Italy. The various people I spoke to all speak good English.

Travel tips

  • Roberto, the owner, told us of the shop to get our groceries from and it is not too far from the villa. In terms of shopping the best way to shop is to do this as you walk down the hill to the pier.
  • It takes approx 15-20 minutes to walk up and down to the pier which is manageable. We noticed a bus halfway down the hill which goes to Praiano.
  • We took the ferry from the pier to Sorrento and Capri.
  • All the restaurants that we tried are good. We tried a different restaurant for lunch and dinner every day.

Fantastic

September 2012 - Villa Clessia was incredible. It was exactly as shown in the photos, with the terrace and views being beyond expectation.

The location, right on the street made it, easy to access without having to climb many stairs with luggage.

Roberto was a wonderful landlord, meeting us upon arrival and showing us all the features of the villa.

Morning coffee and evening cocktails were enjoyed on the terrace with the most incredible sunrises and sunsets. The villa had more than enough linens and towels for all seven of us.

Having rented private accommodations in Nice France, and various areas of the USA, I would highly recommend Villa Clessia to anyone, and hope to someday return there.

Summer in Italy was so wonderful to deal with. My emails were answered very quickly. The contract and payment process was so easy, and I always felt that it was a secure and reputable company. I would recommend Summer in Italy to anyone looking for accommodations in Italy. Luca and his staff are great!!!

Travel tips

  • Don't miss the walking tour with Christine and the wine tasting with her husband Vincenzo. Their knowledge is incredible, and they are two of the most helpful people we have met in all our travels.
  • The small grocery store down the street can keep you supplied in necessities, but also the daily fresh bread, selection of cheese, olive, wine and prosciutto is a plus.
  • Although we travelled mostly by ferry, taking the SITA bus around the region is a wonderful experience in itself!

July 2011 - OMG what a wonderful place and the owner was just the best. The villa was immaculate and the location was wonderful.

I would highly recommend your service as well as the villa. Thanks for making it a "Trip of a lifetime".

Travel tips

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Be careful about restaurant seating charges. [It is customary for Italian restaurants to charge a "seating fee", which is called the "coperto". This is usually a couple of euro, but in expensive places can grow, also depending on the quality and completeness of the plates and silverware. The coperto charge should be indicated on the menu. At times it is not indicated, however it should be expected, as restaurants which do not have a coperto charge are rare. Check the coperto charge before you get seated: if it seems excessive you might consider a different restaurant.] We had an emergency with my daughter, she came down with food poisoning which had nothing to do with the villa. Mr Roberto [the owner] was so kind: he came to the villa at 2 am and was able to help us. Everything turned out to be fine and we all enjoyed our stay.
  • Restaurant Da Vincenzo is the best!
  • There is a supermarket near the villa owned by a grandmother, daughter and granddaughter who took us under their wings and just were so very kind to us.
  • The worst place was a cigar store that the owner/manager was so rude and unpleasant. Never go there!
  • The boat ride to Capri with captain Fabio is a must. Didn't really care for Capri but swimming in the caves and grottoes was awesome.

October 2010 - Villa Clessia had an excellent location in Positano with a superb view of the water, the town below, and the other buildings and villas above and below the villa.

The great location made walking to the harbour and the restaurant and shopping areas relatively easy for us (a local bus was was always available for those who needed it). The harbour had access to boats going to Amalfi, Sorrento, and Capri.

The villa had a superb terrace and spacious rooms throughout. However the furnishings were tired and dated, the kitchen was cramped, and the bathrooms needed to be updated.

The owner/manager was helpful.

I think Luca and your staff have done an excellent job for us throughout the booking process. We could not be more pleased about the villa and your efforts on our behalf.

Our experience at Villa Clessia was wonderful, and we will consider a return stay in the future.

Thanks for all you have done.

Travel tips

  • On arrival the owner/manager asked for the refundable 250 Euro deposit as indicated in our package of information. At this time he also wanted another 250 Euro payment for final cleanup, which we had not expected to pay until the final day.

September 2010 - We stayed here in September 2010 with three couples. Each couple was able to have they're own room - all of which were very spacious.

The terrace has one of the most amazing views of the sea - we spent every night out here!

The villa is huge - the only part that is small is the kitchen, but it is certainly adequate. The showers are not the best but are certainly adequate.

The location is great - about a 10 minute walk to the centre of town and the beach. Above the villa (3 minute walk) were some of the best restaurants we visited in all of Italy.

We would happily return to Villa Clessia as it has an incredible view, was safe and secure, and had three perfect sized bedrooms - all of which have doors with views of the sea - a great thing to wake up to!

Travel tips

  • Roberto (the owner) provides everything you need (towels and linens) and is very helpful.
  • In terms of getting to the villa, we drove to the villa from Sorrento which was quite the drive! I recommend contacting Roberto approximately 30 mins before arriving so you can arrange a spot to meet and get the keys.

September 2010 - The villa is huge and well located and the parking space is appreciated. The view is great.

Villa Clessia is air conditioned only in the living room.

The kitchen is small and could be more equipped. A new toaster for instance. A toilet seat also in the blue bathroom.

We recommend Villa Clessia (if you are not looking for an air conditioned place) for the location, the terrace and the view.

Travel tips

  • In Positano, everything is nearby if you don't mind walking. To avoid climbing from the end of the pedestrians street, you can take the bus (Positano Interno) and it will leave you near the Villa.
  • The restaurant at Hotel Poseidon is great and Restaurant Chez Black and Restaurant Le Tre Sorelle on the beach also.
  • If you intend cooking at the villa, don't expect to find supermarkets, better make provisions before (except for the wine where you can find at lower price very good local wines).

July 2010 - The view and location were outstanding. We parked our car in our own parking spot behind the gate and was also a wonderful perk. Our car was easily available for day trips and easy to park when we returned.

We lived on the back deck which was a generous size and partially shaded with a breathtaking view. All meals were eaten outdoors. There were doors from the living room to the back deck that opened the entire wall to the outdoors.

The location is ideal. The is a small grocery shop a few doors down, not too bad a walk to the center of town on the road or faster on the stairs if your knees are in good shape.

There were little ants that were a challenge. Having bug spray available may help.

The 3 bedrooms on the main floor were very nice with doors that open to the view and a side balcony. One was set up as a triple and fit my daughters well. The upstairs bedroom is small and stuffy, would work best for an older child that wanted to be separate.

The owner was very pleasant and left lots of towels and extra bedding if needed during the week.

The living room was a nice size to fit everyone and there was a large indoor dining-room table which we never used because we ate outside. The house would benefit from a furniture upgrade in the living room.

The villa is large and enchanting, my husband wanted to buy it and move there.

Travel tips

  • Pretend you live there. Walk to the little grocery store and get to know the ladies. Their produce and fresh buffalo mozzarella is outstanding. Cook some easy pasta at home and eat outdoors. Walk up and down and try all the restaurants. Go to church right across the street for Sunday mass.
  • We had one long day trip that we used Salvatore, owner of La Mammola Car Service to drive the 6 of us to a village in Molise where my grandparents had lived. He drove a comfortable Mercedes van very safely and calmly and he acted as our interpreter once we got there. He felt a little like our body guard also. I would highly recommend him.
  • Hang your laundry outside and water the plants.
  • Take a boat to Capri from Blue Star down at the beach.

May 2010 - You cannot beat the view or the location at Villa Clessia. Amazing! We spent most of our time on the deck.

It is within a 2 minute walk without steps to several good restaurants and only a 10-15 minute walk to the center of town.

Although we didn't cook, kitchen seemed well supplied with dishes, pots and pans etc.

Our only complaint was no water pressure and hot water for the showers and a missing toilet seat.

We loved our stay in Positano!!

Travel tips

  • Drive all the way down the Amalfi coast and stop in some of the other towns. Positano was still our favorite.
  • The concerts in Ravello are amazing.
  • Visiting Pompeii and using a guide was well worth it.

April 2010 - It is a beautiful villa with spectacular views and in a good location.

Note that the third main bedroom has no access to the interior of the villa - you have to go through another bedroom or go outside onto the balcony. Also, although the bathrooms were adequate the showers were not. They hardly worked at all and when they did if someone elsewhere in the villa turned on a tap or flushed a toilet all the water from the shower disappeared. The showers need attention.

Travel tips

  • Superb location close to restaurants, shops and friendly Italians!
