A true Italian authentic experience - and we loved every minute of our stay

September 2022 - Villa Castalia was an amazing and warm place to stay.

The hosts were fantastic. Vito and Tonia [the owners] put a lot of work and love into their property, and they are available at all times. Tonia surprised us with not one but two warm cakes on our stay! On the last day she cooked us an incredible and delicious Italian breakfast buffet that was unforgettable. When the washing machine broke from a storm, Tonia - the owner, hand washed and dried, and folded all of our clothes. Both hosts were incredibly helpful, and even helped us out with a driver and tour guide, Pasquale, during our stay.

The grounds and home itself are beautiful, and so quaint and quiet. All of the towels, beds, and linens are comfortable, and every room has AC!

I would highly recommend staying here again - as it was a true Italian authentic experience - and we loved every minute of our stay. I Could not recommend more highly! Thank you so much, it was on of the best stays we ever had. We appreciate you so much and love your place. Will be back!

Really suited our needs

October 2017 - We were a group of 4 couples who stayed at Villa Castalia. It really suited our needs as there were 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The best part were the immaculate grounds and garden, together with the terrace where we spent most of our time.

The caretaker is very friendly and took care of all our needs and questions.

This is the second time that I have booked a villa through Summer In Italy, we are very happy with their service and would recommend it highly to anyone interested.

Travel tips

  • The nearest supermarket is at about 10 minutes drive away but there is a small village grocery store located across the railway line, in walking distance, for fresh vegetables, cheese, etc.

Even better than the pictures show

September 2017 - Villa Castalia was great. We had our family there and were in for a wedding at another local resort. The property is remote but is even better than the pictures show on line, it is beautiful. We enjoyed our experience and it was a great value.

Vito [the owner] was very accommodating and helpful. He has his own gardens and gave us his fresh olives, which were delicious.

I used Summer In Italy 8 years ago for a trip and you do a great job making sure the properties are nice and represented well.

Travel tips

  • You will need a car as it is remote and there is not a lot of transportation.

Excellent

August 2015 - Absolutely gorgeous villa, even better than the pictures would suggest.

Antonia and Vito [the owners] were perfect hosts, giving a warm welcome, access to their wonderfully well stocked veg patch, baking cakes for us and keeping the villa in spotless condition.

Really couldn't have asked for anything more! Would highly recommend Villa Castalia.

Great service from Summer In Italy - really helpful and friendly.

Travel tips

  • It's not the easiest place to find! Our sat nav sent us off in the wrong direction, so follow the written instructions to get to the villa really closely!
  • The area is wonderful with great fish restaurants at Savelletri.
  • Amazing caves at Grotte di Castellana.
  • Lovely towns to visit: Lecce, Locorotondo and of course Alberobello for trulli.

Excellent

June 2014 - Villa Castalia and its garden were superb! The pool was fantastic and we spent many hours just relaxing and enjoying the lovely garden.

Vito and Antonia [the owners] were lovely hosts who made us feel most welcome.

The service we had from Summer In Italy was superb we couldn't ask for more!

Travel tips

  • The little mini market near the villa gave excellent service but for more extensive shopping the large Centro Commerciale near Fasano was great.

Excellent

June 2014 - We thought Villa Castalia and grounds were excellent.

This was our first villa in Italy and it was far superior to ones we have been to in Spain and Portugal and very good value for the price.

The owners are lovely and the cakes and pizzas they made for us were a really nice touch.

The only thing we missed was a toaster! If the loungers by the pool had padded seats I think this villa should be classed as luxury.

The booking process with Summer in Italy and literature they sent was excellent.
