Fantastic

April 2024 - We very much enjoyed Villa Batticuore. The view from the terrace is beautiful and the property is located near some fine restaurants that we visited for dinner and breakfast.

The washing machine was convenient, much needed and perfect timing for our trip. The shower was nice, strong and hot.

I was referred to Summer in Italy from a family member and it was a great decision. It was easy to work with Luca and staff to identify properties available during my timeframe and answer questions about logistics and my travel plans. I will use Summer in Italy again for any future travel plans in Italy.

Conveniently located with a fantastic view from the terrace

October 2023 - My wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed our six nights at Villa Batticuore. Conveniently located near restaurants and shops. Another bonus of its location is that the entrance is directly off the road. Fantastic view from the terrace. The kitchen is a little small but we weren’t cooking a feast. Communication was easy and helpful. Highly recommended.

“Summer In Italy” was a pleasure to deal with during the process. Especially when you consider that we originally booked for 2020 and then again in 2021, only to have to reschedule again due to the pandemic. You were all very helpful in making our month long vacation a success.

Loved the view and location of the house

September 2023 - So many good restaurants to choose from just minutes from the house. We were able to walk down the road about 10-15 minutes and had access to all sorts of shopping.

We enjoyed drinking coffee on the terrace every morning and just enjoying the view through out the day.

Did not want to leave

June 2022 - We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Batticuore and did not want to leave. The view is unbelievable from the balcony - it was a delight to have breakfast outside each morning and wine in the evening before dinner.

The apartment is perfectly located away from the bustling main front by the harbor but very close to the best restaurants in Positano.

Loved the quirky décor and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

The whole process was flawless - I felt more secure with Summer In Italy than other companies I have used in the past including Airbnb. The website was easy to use and all of the reviews seemed very positive. I enjoyed reading the letter you sent to us and thought it provided plenty of information for arrival as well as tips for during our stay. Thank you so much for providing us with a holiday we will never forget.

Travel tips

  • We ate very well whilst at Villa Batticuore. Positano is amazing. The caretaker also owns Café Mediterraneo opposite the apartment - we would definitely recommend going here for lunch/dinner/drinks. We would also recommend Il Fornillo for dinner - amazing. Very close to the apartment. Further up the hill we went to Da Gabrisa which was really special. Chez Black on the front was good but more of a tourist experience.
  • Definitely get the boat to Capri and go around the island on a boat. We had lunch at Aurora at the top of the cable car - again really lovely food.

Perfect for our stay, we will definitely be back!

April 2022 - This villa was perfect for our stay in Positano - we will definitely be back! The villa is lovely - the interiors are great, and so cosy, we loved it! There is a large dining area, a small kitchen, an entrance hall, and a bedroom (with a sofa area) and en-suite. Every room had anything you might need in for your stay - they provided toilet roll/kitchen essentials/bottles of water etc... There was also a generously sized balcony, with an amazing view over the coast.

The location of the villa is perfect - about a 10 minute walk to the centre. You can either walk along the road (slightly longer but easier on your knees) or down the steps (opposite Café Positano) directly to the centre. It is near to the main bus stop, which we used to travel in to from Sorrento. There is a food shop about a 5-10 minute walk away called Latteria Mini Market Positano.

I would definitely recommend the villa for your stay - Positano itself is beautiful (but expensive).

Enzo (the house manager) met us just up the road as he owns the nearest restaurant, and showed us everything we needed at check in.

Travel tips

  • We rented a boat on 1 day which was amazing to see the Amalfi Coast from.
  • Rented a scooter another day.
  • I would recommend going to Restaurant Da Bruno, Franco's Bar (expensive cocktails) and Restaurant Next2 (great food) - we ate at the villa a few nights too.

Travel tips

Live like a local in Positano

June 2019 - Villa Batticuore allows you to live like a local in Positano. We cooked a few meals (breakfast and dinner) in the tiny kitchen and did our laundry.

There are so many items left in the apartment, including beach towels, grocery basket, cooking oils, candles, sunscreen, etc., likely from past guests, that you really don’t need to worry about a thing.

We had a few issues with the Wi-Fi box but the property manager was always around to help.

Summer In Italy’s service is great, especially for first-timers in Italy.

Travel tips

  • Nanà shoes shop, just down the road around the curve, is fabulous. As are the Restaurant Mediterraneo and Restaurant Da Vincenzo.
  • Go to Fornillo Beach for much more affordable beach loungers, food and drinks.

What a view! Not that there is a bad one in Positano.

June 2019 - The location was wonderful being near the top of all the activity and the fact that entrance to the apartment was on the street, we didn't have to walk up or down any stairs to get in. For the two of us the apartment was comfortable and spacious. The most important thing is the balcony and it was large with plenty of furniture and the view was beautiful. A suggestion would be for a little less furniture and more comfortable furniture on the balcony. We would stay here again.

Amazing vacation home with stunning views

June 2019 - An amazing vacation home with stunning views of the coastline from the terrace. The property is located right at the street level so only a few stairs to climb with luggage and is also very convenient in terms of access to restaurants.

The caretaker, Mr Enzo greeted us with Prosecco in hand and made us feel right at home. He owns the Restaurant Mediterraneo just steps away from the house and all the staff made us feel extremely welcome and treated us just like their own family. They played with our 11 month old son while we had dinner, offered us great local advice and just made the experience so lovely.

We definitely can’t wait to come back and spend time here again!

Villa Batticuore is in a terrific location

October 2018 - Villa Batticuore is in a terrific location. There is a great view off the terrace and it is in walking distance to the town center, to restaurants and grocery store. We enjoyed a mix of meals out and meals at home.

We used Summer In Italy on a recommendation from friends. They are so organized, stayed in touch, were timely to provide paperwork and provided a lot of useful information about our rental accommodation. They are a pleasant, friendly, professional organization and we would recommend Summer In Italy to our friends.

Travel tips

  • We spent a lot of time walking around the town.
  • Took the local Positano bus a few times to get a view of the upper part of the town.
  • The bakery in town is outstanding.
  • We took a boat charter to Amalfi one day and were lucky to have an informative captain to point out places of interest and provide some historic context to what we were looking at.

The house has a quirky charm, but is spacious, comfortable, and the view from the terrace is stunning

September 2018 - We stayed at Villa Batticuore in early September and loved it. The house has a quirky charm, but is spacious, comfortable, and the view from the terrace is stunning. The kitchen is quite small, but we weren't planning on cooking anyway. I don't know if we will be able to make it back to Positano, but if we do Villa Batticuore will be our first choice of where to stay.

It is located just outside (5-10 minute walk) the lower part of the center of Positano with its shops and restaurants, so you have easy access, but can just as easily escape the crowds for a glass of wine on the terrace... (we did that a lot). There are three restaurants, a friendly bakery, a cafe that serves breakfast and lunch, and a small convenience store all within about 100 yards of the house. Perhaps most important, unlike most places in Positano, the front door opens directly on the street, so you do not have to deal with any of Positano's famous steps just to come and go.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the caretaker's son-in-law, Rodrigo, with a glass of prosecco.

Summer In Italy could not have been more helpful or responsive during the entire process.

Travel tips

  • Driving: don't do it! Positano has one road that makes a one-way loop though the town and parking is virtually non-existent.
  • We arranged for Amalfi Car Limousine Services to pick us up in Naples and take us back. Not cheap, but so much easier and more comfortable than driving, and everything worked without a hitch.
  • Restaurants: Restaurant Mediterraneo and Restaurant Saraceno d'Oro (right up the street) both serve excellent food and have more of a neighborhood vibe. The pizza at Restaurant Saraceno d'Oro, is excellent. Restaurant Da Vincenzo (make a reservation) and Café Positano are also outstanding, but seemed to attract more tourists, since they are more toward the center of town. If you go to the latter, see if you can get a seat "downstairs". This an area across the street, where you go down some steps to a terrace with an excellent view of the harbor and don't have cars, Vespas, and buses going by during dinner.
  • Sights: make sure you go to Pompeii. If you do, consider getting a guide. Private guides are expensive, but you can hook up with an English speaking guide once you get there and go with a small group. We went on our own, and while no less fascinating, we felt like we missed something.
  • Cooking class: we took a cooking class with dinner one night and one out most enjoyable evenings ever. Used Marina in Cucina Positano for Foodies, booked it through Summer In Italy web site.

Perfect for us

June 2018 - Villa Batticuore was perfect for us. Access door right on Viale Pasitea (no additional steps). It was quiet but an excellent location; an easy (and very beautiful) walk from the pedestrian area. The rooms were more than fine, maybe a bit quirky on decorating, but that was no bother at all. Not sure what the swimmer/diving guy hanging from the ceiling, but we had a laugh about it. The terrace and view was magnificent. Bathroom was excellent, hot water was great, AC worked fine. No complaints at all. None. It was a wonderful place to stay. Felt very representative of local life, and that's what we wanted. I'm thankful that people like these open their places up for people like us.

It was easy to work with Enzo [the caretaker].

Your team at Summer In Italy were responsive and the communications you provided were very helpful. You all were excellent and I will recommend you to anyone I know who is thinking of going and staying in Italy. And if I am fortunate enough to go back, I will be using your terrific service.

Travel tips

  • The grocery store down the street near the Hotel Poseidon was awesome! The people were so nice and the food and wine/beer was very good.
  • Almost every day we went to Collina Bakery (the little takeaway spot next to the Tabacchi) for our cappuccino and a croissant. This is the best cappuccino and espresso, I've ever had.
  • We had many great meals. Really all of them were great. I will call out Restaurant Li Galli up the hill, near the Sponda bus top, as our best meal. Also, Restaurant Covo dei Saraceni (the outdoor area) was excellent for lunch.

Amazing!

October 2017 - Villa Batticuore is amazing! It is located in the perfect spot on the winding streets of Positano. You are just far away enough from all the busy tourists, but close enough that walking to shops, restaurants, and the beach was a breeze. The kitchen is tiny, but perfect for just two of us, we used it mostly for breakfast and some appetizers at the end of the day. We cooked one simple meal during our one week stay and it was perfect. It may not be as accommodating if you are cooking large meals. The house is clean and had everything we needed for the week. The highlight is the beautiful terrace with a breathtaking view! The pictures do not do this view justice! We also appreciated the walk-in from street level accessibility.

Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful in providing us with maps and tips on getting around, and what we should make sure to see during our visit. It was nice having a contact person always available, which made it very convenient to ask questions or for information. It was also a nice surprise to have a glass of Prosecco on our arrival!

We never booked with Summer In Italy before this trip, but the whole process was very simple and we appreciated all the information about the rental prior to arrival, such as tips that tourists need to know, especially for anyone who might be visiting the country for the first time.

Travel tips

  • There is a nice delicatessen within a short walking distance to buy some basics for the kitchen.
  • Take a boat tour to Capri. We took one that let us spend about 4 hours on the island, and it was perfect! It included a stop a the Blue Grotto and the option to take the boat into the grotto, which we definitely recommend. After the grotto anyone on the boat who wanted to take a swim was free to do so!! The boat ride was fantastic! I can't remember the name of the tour company, but it was the one directly across from the Chez Black Restaurant on the beach. Our captain and crew were entertaining and we really enjoyed having the opportunity to see Capri by boat. They took us all the way around the island, stopping and pointing out interesting sites. It was the perfect way to see and visit Capri. Honestly, we enjoyed the boat tour more than the island itself, which doesn't offer much except expensive shopping and dining. We checked out the free garden after taking the Funicular to Capri town, and the views from there were spectacular!
  • We also took a cooking class with Marina in Cucina and cannot say enough about her and our afternoon together. There were six adults (3 couples) and Marina. She taught us how to make some traditional Italian dishes using local fresh ingredients. She was an amazing hostess and we very much enjoyed our afternoon with Marina and her other guests!! I highly recommend it!!
  • We also used Amalfi Car for our transportation throughout the entire week. Our driver picked us up from the airport and spoke with the owner to make sure we were taken right to the house. We used Amalfi Car again to take a day trip to Pompeii and for our transportation back to the airport in Naples. This service was very affordable, and worth every penny! Our drivers always were very friendly and made sure we were not only comfortable, but also were wonderful tour guides telling us about what we saw out the window! On our way to Positano, our driver even took the time to pull over and and took some pictures for us!

The view is exceptional!

October 2016 - My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Villa Batticuore. The view is exceptional! The entrance to the house is at street level with only 1 step which is rare in Positano, but it's built on the side of the mountain so that the terrace has an unobstructed view of the sea and all of Positano. Also the living room and bedroom are away from the street so it's quiet, without any street noise.

Summer In Italy did a good job providing information to preparing us for our trip.

Very charming

October 2016 - Villa Batticuore is very charming. Everything in working order. Comfortable bed/pillows (I'm particular about pillows too). We were there in October and used the heat a little bit. The shower and bathroom very nice. It was convenient to have an extra toilet and sink too. It was good to have a washer machine for clothes. The terrace and view just spectacular.

The house is just off the street. Quiet but situated with restaurants and shops nearby and the main beach and center of town just down the street a block and then a walk down steps and you are there. The right place if you want to stay in Positano, have a wonderful view of the coast, enjoy access to the center of town/main beach/shopping/ eateries.

The caretaker Mr Enzo and his son Lorenzo were excellent and responsive and gave wonderful instructions and both spoke very good English. They offered us a glass of Champagne on arrival. They answered questions, made suggestions about the town and directions to different locations.

I learned of Summer In Italy from friends that had booked a villa. The web site was very easy to navigate and the homes/villas available were all very exceptional. Everyone at Summer In Italy team was so very responsive and helpful. They answered all my questions, sent links to assist me in finding tours, towns, transportation, parking walking directions etc. It was very nice to work with this group. I felt extremely comfortable arriving in a foreign country that everything was taken care and if I needed assistance I could reach out to them. Thank you to all at Summer In Italy!!

Travel tips

  • Villa Batticuore was easy to find, parking was close at hand as we had driven. The public parking lot was very easy only a block away. The men there also spoke English and were very accommodating, drove us to our door and most willing to deliver the car to the door on a phone call.
  • Mr Enzo [the caretaker] owns a restaurant across the street from Villa Batticuore. We dinned there, it was wonderful with live music they deducted our beverages form the bill saying you’re family!!! It's called Restaurant Mediterraneo.
  • It was our honeymoon so just the two of us, the added bathroom was useful as an extra sink/toilet.
  • We had a car and drove to Bomerano (I wouldn't suggest driving unless you are very confident and strong driver, you can also get there also by bus). At Bomerano we hiked the 'The Path of the Gods' a beautiful trek along the high cliffs and hillside vineyards with the most spectacular views of the Amalfi Coast. At points you could see Capri and the coastline of Naples. Amazing!! The entire path is about 4 hours from Bomerano to Positano. We hiked it in 1 and 1/2 hrs, and back out.
  • At the main beach a day ahead, we booked on a private boat with a group of 10 for a trip to Capri Island. We were toured around the entire island including the grottos and special rock formations and then let off on the island to explore for 4 hours before returning to Positano.
  • In Capri we lunched at Lo Zodiaco, best sea food ever!!! Try the shush-kabobs, fantastico.
  • We took a bus to Anacapri and hiked up to the top to see the view. There is a chair lift that will take you to the top. We had a rainy day and it was not in operation that afternoon.

Really enjoyed our stay

June 2016 - In Positano there seemed to be a trade off between a view and convenient location but Villa Batticuore was well situated and had a great view. The two main rooms were always cool irrespective of outside temperature. The living room and bedroom were both large. The main bathroom was very good the second bathroom was small but adequate. The kitchen was very small but we only realy used it to make coffee. We really enjoyed our stay.

Any problem was solved immediately by the excellent Enzo [the caretaker].

We found the service from Summer In Italy was excellent, helpful, and the people were delightful to deal with. We had many questions, one was answered within a hour. The question that took a longer time to answer required some considerable research.

Travel tips

  • Make sure you get a good explanation of how to use the induction hob.
  • Take binoculars, the view of the bay is interesting.
  • Mediterraneo Restaurant, about 20 metres away, was huge fun, decent food and helful service.

I was blown away!

May 2016 - I was blown away by Villa Batticuore! The views are amazing and the location perfect for access to the town and beach. It had everything you needed and was very comfortable, we enjoyed a glass of wine on the terrace before heading out for diner which was very relaxing. Overall we had a wonderful time in Positano, our daughter is getting married there next year and we were able to sort a lot of things out on our trip which was great, thank you so much!

Enzo [the caretaker] was there to meet us with a glass of Prosecco which I have to say was a lovely touch.

I have to say from booking right through to trip was effortless and you where very helpful. Keep up the great work.

Travel tips

  • Just relax and enjoy.
  • Don't hire a car though as no parking spaces and you have to pay for parking.

Excellent

August 2015 - What a find! Great location on the road (no steps to climb - a rarity in Positano!) lovely antique furniture, tastefully decorated and everything you could possibly need for your stay.

The view is breathtaking I nearly cried when I walked out onto the terrace. There was just the two of us and although there is a sofa bed in the lounge for the family it's perfect as a romantic retreat.

I have already recommended it to all my friends, Positano and the villa was great. I nearly didn't write this review because I wanted to keep it a secret!

Your service was great from the online chat to confirmation. I would definitely use you again. I hadn't heard of you before I searched but I would recommend you now.

Travel tips

  • The restaurant Mediterraneano nearby is great for a fun night with music and no walk home!
  • The owner and caretaker met us when we arrived and gave us very comprehensive instructions for everything though with a view like that we didn't turn either television on once.
  • There is a smashing deli/shop on the bend of the road a little further down with everything you need and some great restaurants down by the sea. If you want to splurge (it's pricey) we enjoyed Le Sirenuse hotel.
  • We day tripped a lot, we took the bus along the coast and the boats over to Ischia and Capri. We also went to Naples and Pompeii from here all very easy.
  • Parking is a nightmare, we used drivers and public transport. I would definitely recommend getting a taxi transfer to and from the airport makes the journey stress free.
