Nice place

October 2016 - Villa Arletta was a nice place for our two families stay. We all enjoyed the villa, the location and the owner.

Roberto [the owner] was very nice, punctual and always available.

Very nice people at Summer In Italy, ready to help you. They really want you tohave the nicest holiday.

Travel tips

  • Ravello is a nice town with lots of views.
  • We didn't use cars for two days.
  • Lots of classical music concerts in Ravello. Give a look at the program of the events before visit.

Excellent

July 2013 - First of all I want to say that I am extremely pleased with the service provided by Summer in Italy. Everything performed exactly according to the plan. In particular, there was a lot of pictures of the villa and the panorama itself. These were not retouched and they depicted exactly what the villa (superb, clean, comfortable) looks like and the grandiose views you can get from it.

I had been to the Amalfi coast 11 years ago staying in Maiori. I am glad I selected to go up a bit in Ravello because the views are breathtaking, because Ravello itself is superb (in my mind as beautiful if not more as Capri but not as touristy). The owner Signor Roberto was very personable, nice and helpful. I would recommend highly this place for a large family (we were 8) or a group of friends (one clean and highly functional bathroom for each of the 4 bedrooms). This was fantastic all the way.

I also like sporty walking and I was truly delighted to find the steep stairs going up and down to Minori and to Ravello center town. It was great going down to the sea exercising in the middle of the lemon and olive trees terraces. It is just fantastic.

I first found Villa Arletta through the TripAdvisor website but found an overlap with Summer In Italy. I eventually thought Summer In Italy was much more convenient in the layout of the information. Also as I was looking for the parking accommodations and how far from downtown I would be (we had 4 people over 70 years old in the group), I had the pleasant surprise to be able to chat with a very helpful Melanie who ironed down all my remaining concerns. Really well done.

Travel tips

  • I think one has to be a good a and patient driver to visit the Amalfi coast by car. The winding roads are narrow and you got to get prepared to squeak as close as possible to the rocks to let buses go by. Also while parking is free near Villa Arletta, you got to get ready for fairly expensive parking everywhere else in Ravello and on the coast. I was prepared for that as I had been there before but it might come to a surprise for first time visitors.

Very good

April 2013 - Overall, Villa Arletta is an above average vacation spot. The views were truly spectacular and it was very quiet (except for the donkeys clomping down the steps each morning in the early hours).

Bedrooms were large and comfortable and the bathrooms were also large, though the showers were a bit small. It was very nice having a bathroom attached to each bedroom. The garden/ terrace area was very sunny and private with great views of the Amalfi Coast.

The two major shortcoming were the number of steps to climb (steep and irregular) to reach the apartment from the road and the lack of a living area. Leaving the apartment to go anywhere either involves climbing a lot of steps or calling a cab. It would have also been nice to have a living area with comfortable seating where the group could gather together to relive the day's adventures. These shortcomings aside, we very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Arletta and would highly recommend it (and Mr. Roberto [the owner]).

Travel tips

  • Ravello is beautiful and quiet, but be prepared to either walk a lot or take cabs. Driving on the Amalfi Coast is not for the faint hearted and finding a place to park a rented car can be a nightmare at any time. We used Ravello Taxi extensively for both getting around Ravello and for day trips to Paestum and Sorrento. Having 8 people in our group helped with cost sharing, which might be an obstacle for smaller groups.
  • Day trips to Pompei and Paestum are highly recommended. Don't bother with a day trip to Capri unless you want to do designer shopping and the Blue Grotto is an over-rated tourist trap.
  • There is a wide selection of ceramic shops all along the Amalfi Coast including Ravello. The Amalfi Coast is also known for its linen clothing and cloth and both Positano and Sorrento have a number of good linen shops.
  • Every place we ate at in Ravello had good food, even the take-out pizza place, which I guess shouldn't come as a surprise in Italy.

Very good

September 2012 - Lovely villa with a fabulous view - quiet and peaceful.

Only walkable distance from Ravello if you are feeling fit and probably not possible with children.

I had excellent communication from the Summer In Italy office and admin staff - they were helpful and replied promptly.

Travel tips

  • Ravello isn't quite as close as it looks - the steps next to the front door are steep and there are 296 to get to the town, if you take the path from the bottom of the steps it is a slightly longer route but fewer steps to get to the town.
  • We all really enjoyed the walk down to Minori -- the beach was lovely.
  • Our favourite restaurant is Restaurant Cumpa Cosimo -- fabulous food and an excellent price.

August 2012 - We did enjoy our staying in Villa Arletta. Roberto [the owner] is very kind and helpful owner. The villa is very clean and convenience to everything.

Ravello is a beautiful and quiet town along Amalfi coast.

We all loved it so much. Thanks for your recommendation.

Travel tips

  • Parking is a little bit headache in that area. But you still can find free parking if you are lucky enough.

Excellent

November 2011 - We were 7 adults staying for 4 nights. The villa was adequate for our needs. The lack of a sitting room where we could all sit and relax was the only significant 'negative'.

Villa Arletta is ideally located for exploring the Amalfi Coast as well as visiting Naples, Vesuvius and Pompeii. When estimating journey times, always 'add on some extra time' as progress is very slow over the winding coastal and mountain roads.

Summer in Italy did a great job. Good communications, responded quickly to questions/queries.

Travel tips

  • We had a great meal at the the restaurant Figli di Papa' in Ravello. Excellent food, good service.

August 2011 - We enjoyed Villa Arletta very much, the owner was very friendly and full of knowledge of the area and was able to advise us on local attractions.

We found the accommodation very comfortable and would recommend it to other travellers.

I was very satisfied with Summer in Italy and would use them again.

Travel tips

  • Make sure you have protection against mosquitoes, especially in the garden!
  • Our favourite restaurant was Restaurant La Vecchia Cantina, staff are very friendly, the food is very good and reasonably priced.
  • We found shops were more expensive than other towns (except Amalfi which is more expensive). If you want better bargains, shop in Maiori.

June 2011 - We had a wonderful holiday in Villa Arletta. It is a delightful place.

The manager (Mr Roberto) was so very welcoming and it was reassuring to know that he was nearby should we have needed him.

On arrival it was exceptionally clean and well-equipped.

Travel tips

  • Eat in Ravello - there are many excellent places there. The walk up and down the steps will help you to work off all the gorgeous pasta dishes.
  • Tomtom will find the villa.
