October 2015 - We enjoyed Villa Ambra very much.

The views were great of course but also the apartment was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It looks just like what you see in the pictures which was a good thing.

Summer In Italy response times are immediate, which was very helpful in planning trip and that there is someone to call for emergencies or questions is terrific. I talked with them a couple times which was a big help. So far so good with your company.

Travel tips

  • We actually liked the many steps to the town of Ravello and looked forward to taking them everyday.
  • The bus to Almafi was convenient and the town is worth it to visit.
  • Restaurant Salvatore is a good restaurant.

April 2015 - We were 2 families from Denmark and enjoyed Villa Ambra very much!

Summer In Italy is perfect. From the first day we met a professional help. We will certainly use them again.

Travel tips

  • Problems with car parking.
  • Many steps to the city center, but so it is in Ravello.

June 2008 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the views are "picture post card" perfect.

The one drawback was the barking of the dogs in the property next door. This was not constant but did occasionally disturb us in the morning.

The main bedroom was a lovely size with spectacular views. The second bedroom was not suitable for two adults. Room small and dark. Beds small and hard. Villa Ambra was much bigger than we had expected and there was plenty of room for four people.

This has been our second booking through Summer in Italy and we would definitely recommend you to others. Well done. Web site and staff are friendly, helpful and informative.

Thank you.

Travel tips

  • Whilst the property is very close to all shops and restaurants, as previous guests have noted, there are many steps (or a steep road) to negotiate to get to the centre of Ravello. We didn't find this a problem, but future guests need to be aware of it.
  • Although we hired a car, we found the local buses a more convenient way of getting around.
  • Lots of very good restaurants and cafes to choose from. Our favourite was Cumpa Cosimo, just beyond the tourist info office.
  • The staff in the tourist office are very helpful.
  • Definitely, take the walk over to Villa Cimbrone, the gardens are stunning (and the ice creams are good too!)

April 2008 - Excellent living accommodation and terrace with stunning views. Quite a hike up hill to get to Ravello.

Great service. The information pack provided to us on booking was very thorough. Your site seemed to have the best selection of properties in the area.

October 2007 - I very much enjoyed my visit to Villa Ambra. There was a small dog living nearby, and he barked a lot, waking me up earlier than I would have preferred. It was otherwise very quiet and peaceful.

The location is great in that it has a wonderful view, but I grew tired of climbing the steps to the town every day.

We were surprised and delighted at the amount of hot water, and the outstanding water pressure in the shower.

It was great to have access to a washer. The terrace is beautiful, and we relaxed there many afternoons.

I thought Summer in Italy was great. I booked with you through the recommendation of a friend who also stayed at Villa Ambra. Francesca [the caretaker] was very nice and on time. We appreciated that.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared to climb a lot of steps!
  • We enjoyed many restaurants in town, but especially loved the view and ambiance at Hotel Villa Amore's restaurant. We enjoyed Restaurant Cumpa' Cosimo, Restaurant Vittoria, drinks at Hotel Villa Maria (did not make it back there for dinner, regrettably), Restaurant Salvatore, fancy and very delicious, Restaurant Figli di Papa', and the pizzeria next to the ceramic shop near the church (the name escapes me). All wonderful meals.
  • You cannot miss Villa Rufolo or Villa Cimbrone.
  • The Hotel Palazzo Sasso is exquisite - we were able to book massages there, which were excellent, even though we were not hotel guests.
  • We also walked to Amalfi one day, taking the very steep steps toward Atrani. It was fun but my calves hurt for days.
  • We also spent part of one day in Minori, the beach town just below Ravello. It was pretty.

September 2007 - We enjoyed very much the view from the terrace.

Ravello is the most beautiful village of the Amalfi coast.

Travel tips

  • Don't need a car. Public transportation provides a good service.

August 2007 - We loved our stay at Villa Ambra and would definitely stay there again. The view is every bit as spectacular as you can imagine from the pictures.

We loved walking up the steps to town in the morning to shop for breakfast and then eating a leisurely breakfast on the terrace as we planned our day. It was hard to leave!

The floor plan is a bit strange and the living room is not very useful, but the rooms are spacious and very pleasant. There were only four of us, so the terrace was plenty big. Part of the roof of the villa is the deck of a swimming pool (remember that everything is vertical in Ravello!) but that did not cause any problems.

Found you on the web and we had a great experience. We hope to rent through you again.

Travel tips

  • Don't miss Paestum, south of Salerno and near Cilento National Park. The Greek temples there are very well preserved and the quiet setting is a nice contrast to Pompeii.

August 2007 - We really enjoyed Villa Ambra. It had the most fabulous view and terrace and was far larger than we had expected

Your description of the villa was accurate, the caretaker Francesca was patient and helpful and your directions were excellent!

Travel tips

  • If you drive, be sure to have a small car! But mostly expect to spend time on your own terrace, enjoying the view.
  • Do not miss the walk to Minori, even though it is a lot of steps.
  • Be aware that most shops are closed on the weekends and you might want to bring supplies for Saturday and Sunday with you.

Travel tips

  • Only people who like walking stairs should stay at the villa. But, not a problem for most healthy people.

Travel tips

  • There's a tiny store where you can buy basic groceries and supplies on Via della Repubblica (to the left of the steps leading up to the town).
  • All of the restaurants we visited were good, however the ambiance of Villa Maria was quite special.

October 2006 - Yes - enjoyed it very much. The walk got a little much - but then again, I did not gain any weight.

The view was excellent, but probably would have enjoyed a larger patio - we used the large kitchen, sitting area exclusively, so the main living room was not of much use.

All in all it was a very pleasant stay.

I really enjoyed the fact that you answered questions and gave us suggestions on places to stay.

Travel tips

  • Washing machine - no way to control the temperature of water - suggest you use all the hot water before using the washing machine.
  • Very glad that Francesca [the caretaker] met us at the bus stop - bus was late and it was dark and although your directions were very good - it would have been hard to find at night.
  • Don't forget siesta - the grocery store, and some shops are closed in the afternoon.

Unfortunately, Villa Ambra can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
