Way beyond our expectations!

August 2019 - Villa Amanda was way beyond our expectations! The villa was a perfect base to stay on the Amalfi Coast. Praiano was a great place not too touristy and it was so easy to get around on the local buses, if you don't mind climbing stairs which we don't!

We would recommend it to anyone, we had the holiday of a lifetime!!!

The owner Luigi and his son were so helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

I found Summer In Italy excellent. I would use you again!

Truly wonderful authentic Italian villa with stunning views

July 2019 - A truly wonderful authentic Italian villa with stunning views. The villa and service received was wonderful and we would highly recommend this villa. Thank you very much.

The communication with Summer In Italy was excellent from initial enquiry through to the holiday itself. A great company to deal with.

Travel tips

  • A car is useful for longer trips, eg. Naples, Mount Vesuvius - but when travelling locally, take the bus or taxi as driving is not easy and parking in the tourist towns is almost impossible in the main summer season.

Beautiful

July 2019 - AMAZING! Beautiful property with terraces, balconies over the sea galore! Pool was wonderful!!

The artwork and history of the villa was so interesting and beautiful! The villa is CHARMING! Can't imagine staying anywhere else!

Our family will be back!!!

Love Summer In Italy! The booking was easy and whenever I had a question, it was answered via email ASAP! I love all the emails with tips, etc. They came in so handy! It was just so EASY with Summer In Italy and I HIGHLY recommend their properties and booking through them.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared for walking up and down steps! The town is built up the cliffs and the streets are sidewalks and steps. Try to bring carry on size luggage. It was quite a workout getting my over-sized suitcase around!
  • We tried most of restaurants in town and they were great! There are a lot down by the water/Marina di Praia too. Loved going down there and hanging on cement overlook of water and just jumping in! You can also get semi-private boats for day trip to Capri from there. HIGHLY recommend getting to Capri that way instead of ferry from other towns.

July 2018 - If you don't mind the steps then once you arrive the view from Villa Amanda is fantastic! Good air conditioning.

Summer In Italy is excellent. We have booked twice with them before and would do so again!

Travel tips

  • There are lots of great restaurants which are a short walk away.
  • Bring your hiking shoes!
  • The Path of the Gods hike can be accessed directly up the hill behind Villa Amanda which is a fantastic loop to Nocelle and Bomerano.
  • There are fantastic hikes for the very fit with amazing views directly from Praiano: https://ridewithgps.com/trips/25799850 --- https://ridewithgps.com/trips/25868499 --- https://ridewithgps.com/trips/25905393 .
  • Alternatively, drive to Amalfi parking building and start from here https://ridewithgps.com/trips/25941721 .

We will always remember this special trip and the amazing Villa Amanda!

June 2018 - The villa and location are wonderful, and the view is spectacular! The outdoor space is superb, and all the interior rooms are quite nice, as well. Everything is well-maintained, and also the Wi-Fi and AC worked well. The villa is located within a quaint community, allowing us to experience the local way of life, which we enjoyed. Daily trips to the 2 tiny nearby markets were fun outings, as were the trips to the nearby towns via the local buses. We will always remember this special trip and the amazing Villa Amanda! Thank you!

Luigi and his son [the owners] were very welcoming and helpful, and we really appreciated the gift (ceramic plate) Luigi brought us when we were leaving.

Summer In Italy was fantastic -- probably the best travel company we have ever worked with! Communication was outstanding, booking was streamlined and accurate, web site is easy to navigate and very informative, and the property description and pictures were accurate and inclusive! I only wish there were similar booking sites in other companies, as Summer In Italy does it right! Thank you so much!

Travel tips

  • Che Bontà restaurant has good pizza, salads, pasta!
  • Bar del Sole has great gelato!
  • Local bus tickets can be purchased at the tiny market near the small square.
  • Wear comfy walking shoes and be prepared for many, many steps and winding local roads (with fantastic views at every turn!)
  • The local dogs howling and "singing" during the 8:00 am and 6:45 pm church bell ringing were something we looked forward to each day!

This place was amazing!

June 2018 - This place was amazing! The views were incredible. Bed was very comfortable. The artistry on the ceilings was beautiful. Definitely would recommend to anyone who wants to visit this area. It was great to come back to the privacy and quiet of Praiano after a visit to busy and crowded Positano.

Travel tips

July 2016 - Great place to stay. Would come again.

Travel tips

  • Two shops nearby will provide you what you need and local restaurants are worth going too.

  • Local transport is cheap and fairly reliable.

Very good

July 2015 - Villa Amanda is a lovely villa with a nice pool and fantastic views. Air conditioning is a bonus that made sleeping very comfortable. Good reliable Wi-Fi. Steep steps to the property may not suit everyone but if you like walking and for example, plan to walk the Path of the Gods, then that's no problem.

The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Travel tips

  • You can walk to 3 good restaurants (La Moressa, M'Ama and Kasai Kasai) with the first 2 having lovely roof terraces with great views.
  • There is a good supermarket nearby (below La Moressa restaurant) which stocks most essentials.

July 2015 - An impressive, unpretentious villa in an outstanding location, the views are just stunning from every turn. The view from the green bedroom is a real delight, even at night, with the stars and little fishing boats twinkling on the sea.

Praiano is just a good place to be. We had a fun week. Va bene!!

Travel tips

  • The little shop near the villa was useful and the people friendly.
  • Hire a boat from Marina di Praia Beach. We hired a decent sized boat with a great captain. Excellent service and it was worth every penny. Sail around Li Galli Islands and Capri and coast line where we were taken in grottos and dived off the boat into milky blue waters. Just amazing!!

Fantastic

July 2015 - Villa Amanda was lovely: a great space, effective A/C and the most amazing views. We loved the outdoor spaces, with a large dining area looking onto the water and a great sized pool. It's a great place to stay if you are looking for a home away from home which is well away from the tourist areas. We stayed as a family of four (my parents in their 60's and my partner and I in our 30's) and would happily go back, the views were enough to make it a wonderful holiday!

Thank you for a lovely stay.

Summer In Italy were a pleasure to deal with from the initial enquiry to the end of the holiday. Would happily recommend and use again. Thank you Luca and team.

Travel tips

  • The property is ideal for those seeking to be amongst local Italians and away from the busy-ness of Positano.
  • There villa is located approx 250 meters from the bus stop. The bus works very well but we enjoyed walking around a little.
  • Villa Amanda may not be as suitable for those who struggle to walk far or up/down many steps. The stairs with lots of heavy shopping bags may not be ideal for some but some of the stores do deliver if you are stocking up. There is also a local corner store about 400 meters away (up/down stairs).
  • An excellent place for dinner is Kasai - the family running it are wonderful, but go early or book otherwise you won't get a table! They will do takeaway for you.
  • We also loved our time at One Fire Beach - the same guys who run Kasai and they are heaps of fun! Be prepared for music, wine and some games! The walk back home may take a while longer after the watermelon cocktails!

September 2014 - We absolutely loved Villa Amanda - it's quirky but well appointed with lots of space inside and out. The views of the sea from the terraces are wonderful.

Summer In Italy made the whole process very easy. The service was excellent and personal and could not be faulted. The documentation was detailed and accurate. We chose Summer In Italy because of the range of villas available and would certainly recommend you and come again.

Travel tips

  • Beware the steps! Although the description page says there are steps to access the villa in the details, you don't realize what that means until you have to tackle them multiple times a day.

July 2014 - Villa Amanda was very nice, clean and well equipped...

The swimming pool was excellent for us, the two terraces were nice and sunny. The kitchen is well equipped with a washing machine (so you don't need to bring too much clothes) and a dishwasher.

The owner did everything possible to let us enjoy our stay.

We had a very nice stay and would like to recommend Villa Amanda to people who are in good shape. The way to the house include indeed many steps. For us, with two children (5 and 8), it wasn't a problem.

Travel tips

Very good

June 2014 - We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Amanda in June 2014.

The villa is very well restored and the air conditioning on a hot day is great. The views from the terraces and bedroom are just beautiful. Of course in order to have such wonderful views, there are many many steps to climb up and down to the villa so you would need to take this into account if you have small children or are elderly.

Overall it was a lovely experience.

We found Summer In Italy very easy to deal with. We looked at previous reviews for your company and then decided to book with you. We would certainly recommend you to friends.

Travel tips

  • We really enjoyed the Restaurant M'ama in the Hotel Margherita - they will give you a lift home afterwards to avoid all the steps.
  • The ferry trip from Positano to Salerno is a lovely way to see the Amalfi Coast from the sea.

September 2013 - It was beautiful! Exceeded our expectations! The villa, the pool, the views... amazing.

We fell in love with the town and the people! Kindest most friendly and helpful and so safe! Our last night was a celebration in the town and we were invited! Shared wine and food with us! An evening we will never forget! We left a bit of our hearts there! We will be back!

We were very happy with Summer In Italy! Very eager to help us in any way. All their recommendations good. Very trusting company! They were a part in making our trip a lifetime incredible memory!

Travel tips

  • Be ready to walk! The first few days were killers, soooo many stairs but at the end of our 7 days, so much easier!
  • Bus system is very easy, everyone including the bus driver is helpful.
  • Food is very reasonable. There is a market in the little area by the villa. Also larger market down the hill and they deliver.
  • Restaurant Che Bonta very charming! Friendly people. We missed the bus asked them to call us a taxi, they took us home. Many places do that!
  • The pool and views breathtaking! The owner is very nice and helpful! We are planning on staying again!
  • Love love the quaint beautiful and charming people. Very quiet, not a lot of nightlife but that is what we loved. Church bells telling us the time, children playing, hearing a gentleman singing above us... beautiful!

Travel tips

  • There is a small local grocery shop about 5 minutes away that had all the necessary items for a good meal.
  • A day trip to Capri by small boat was a highlight, visiting the Blue Grotto on the way was a highlight. There are a number of companies that do this, but we used BlueStar,as they picked us up from Praiano harbour at no extra cost, and Captain Pepe was an excellent host for the day.
  • Parking, and driving on the Amalfi Coast is not for the faint hearted, so I would advise tourists to think carefully about hiring a car beforehand.
  • Pompeii, and Vesuvius in the one day from Praiano is achievable, but it's a long day. Leave early in the morning, and plan to get to Pompeii when it opens.

July 2012 - Villa Amanda è una bellissima villa, the view breathtaking, Luigi the owner was exceptional. The food exquisite in the town of Praiano.

All the rooms were decorated with taste, pool outside terrace wonderful.

The only complaint is the stairs, needless to say we had an aerobic workout.

I think you have an excellent service and someone recommended your site to us.

Travel tips

  • Take the local bus to visit Positano and the interior of Praiano.
  • Arrange outings with hired drivers and tours. E.g. Benvenuto Services will drive you anywhere, Rome Naples, Pompeii and other towns on the Amalfi coast you want to sea. They offer excellent service.
  • We dined at Restaurant La Strada, I would also recommend Restaurant M'ama.
  • Eating at home was fun. We shopped at tutto x tutti: excellent pesto for pasta (refrigerated). It's a lovely shops on the main road.
  • In Ravello and Amalfi you will find more shops, plenty of limoncello and peperoncino forte (hot pepper).
  • The beach is clear and different from the sands of the Adriatic.

June 2012 - We arrived at 9;00pm and we though we made a huge mistake considering the walk and the stairs to get to Villa Amanda that we will have to face every day, we rented for one month, June 2012. But after 1 1/2 day, we though this is heaven!

The villa is immaculately clean, beautiful ceramics through the whole villa, and the sea view from the bedrooms, from the terrace level with a magnificent ceramic table (where we ate all our meals) and from the swimming pool level is breathtaking.

Since it is in a residential neighbourhood, we quickly familiarized with our neighbour. Maria, a 90 old lady, giving us fresh zucchini, beans and lemons from her garden. We often were stopped by a friendly older neighbour that would ask for a lift until the duomo for the night prayers.

The soccer field near by is active only in between 4;30 and 7;30, however, the dogs barking at the young players is a situation you have to overlook.

Waking up in the morning was a pleasure, and extremely calming, with roosters, chirping birds, and Maria talking away from her garden.

Italy, especially Amalfi coast is authentic, rustic, friendly and secure. We felt that after a few days, we were in secure watch of the grocery owner, taxi gentlemen and other commerce owners from the small Praiano community. Since the Italian people are religious, many nights, we had beautiful choirs of children, piano music players and classical singer, all coming very clearly from the nearby church where people gather after supper.

Luigi and his lovely wife are true dedicated owners and there was never a problem with some extra demands on our part and always came through with solutions.

Travel tips

  • Villa Amanda caters to people that are in relatively good shape and comfortable with 52 steps reaching the villa.
  • If you love the sea, but are not willing to walk down and up 450 steps to reach the city beach, you have to discover Praiano Marina, a little creek with a few restaurants and where you can take a smaller tour boat of the entire Amalfi coast, stopping to swim in the emerald waters. Or, from where you can take a private boat to visit Capri.

January 2011 - The villa was spectacular. In warmer weather, ability to make full use of the terrace and pool would make it perfect.

We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Communications were smooth and efficient. Responses to questions and concerns were immediate. Regulations were clear.

Travel tips

  • Villa Amanda is pretty far from the main part of town, restaurants, bar and SITA transportation. If you can handle a lot of steps and a lot of walking, this is the place for you. It is 237 steps to a wonderful grocery store (Tutto per Tutti).
  • Opportunities to take the SITA bus to Amalfi, Sorrento, Positano, Ravello should not be missed... always an exciting ride!
  • The town bar, Bar del Sole, is a great place to sit and chill.

November 2010 - The villa is really beautiful and it was a privilege to stay in such a beautiful historic building.

The villa was very clean, very well maintained and had everything we needed. The terrace and pool area were lovely and the view was really beautiful.

The owner was very friendly and helpful.

We found the villa a bit noisier than we expected because there is a football pitch very nearby and it was quite noisy, however, there were only two of us staying in the villa and I imagine if there were 4-6 people staying that the nearby noise would be less obvious.

I'm very happy with the service provided by 'Summer in Italy' and I look forward to booking with you again!

Travel tips

  • There are a lot of steps and hills, so bring some comfortable walking shoes! (however, we ate so many lovely meals in Praiano, we were glad to get a little exercise!)

October 2009 - Great to stay amongst locals and generally a quite place BUT with some caveats and exceptions: street and bus access require 5-10 min walk up/down steep steps; next to San Luca church/school playground so some noise into evening;bells toll every 15 mins. so not for light sleepers.

Luigi and Virginia [the owners] were VERY accommodating, could not have been nicer. Virgina helped with bags when we got to property and Luigi did same on leaving. Virginia even went out and came back with some fruit that we mentioned we would like to have but were too pooped to go get after getting bags to the villa.

October 2009 - We absolutely loved it! The walk to and from the villa was sometimes challenging but it was worth it.

Having the pool to ourselves was the highlight. The water was very cool (we were there Sept 26 - Oct 3) but very refreshing.

Kitchen had all the tools we needed.

Thank you for sending us to a perfect location. We could not have imagined anything so wonderful. Your staff are very friendly and informed. If I should ever consider renting as opposed to a hotel again, I will definitely use (or recommend) you!!!

We booked with you because of your staff. I was dealing with other companies at the beginning but you stood out as being the most willing to help. I felt you really cared about our holiday plans.

Grazie!!!

Travel tips

  • Bring your own shopping bags that you can carry easier (ie: sling over shoulder or on your back). It is a chore to get groceries, esp beer and wine, up all those steps but it's worth it to be able to cook your own meals [tip: ask the grocer if they home-deliver for a little extra]. The shop Tutto per Tutti at the bottom of the Via Lama steps is excellent and very reasonable.
  • We took a cooking class at the Tramonto D'Oro Hotel located on the main street in Praiano. The entire staff were fabulous and we had tons of fun!! Well worth it.
  • If possible, bring your own toilet paper, soap for dishes, soap for the clothes washer and dishwasher detergent. Except for one roll of toilet paper, these had to be bought.
  • We did the "Walk of Gods" and it was fabulous. When leaving the villa, go up the stairs and turn right (instead of left to go towards the bus stop). Continue along that path for 1 1/2 hours (very steep) and you will be at the beginning of the "Walk". There are many ways to come down and you should get a map from the info centre in Praiano.

Travel tips

August 2009 - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Villa Amanda.

The views from the property are stunning. The swimming pool is great. The only drawback is the distance to the main bus route although there is a local bus stop nearby but this only runs every hour and twenty minutes even in the height of the summer.

It is possible to manage without hiring a car and if we returned we would not choose to hire one - the parking is very limited and expensive throughout the Amalfi coast area.

We didn't miss the bells however from the nearby church. They strike every quarter of an hour!

Summer in Italy were very helpful and informative and responded very quickly to my queries. Would recommend you to others.

Travel tips

  • Only consider renting this property if you are fit and able to cope with lots of steps.
  • We enjoyed walking to the beach and then getting the local bus back. Also arranged our trip to Capri down at the beach and although it was expensive would recommend doing it.

August 2009 - Absolutely fabolous villa, completely breathing the typical ceramic of the region. The view on the sea, the poll, the interior ceilings and finishing, the completely equipped kitchen... are really great.

The only small inconvenience is the - inevitable for that area - walk from the car to the villa. However, that is largely compensated by all the pluses for this.

May 2009 - We adored Villa Amanda, it was a wonderfully romantic place.

We loved the interior, the master bedroom is dreamy and equally loved the exterior, the fish, the swimming pool and the awesome view.

We loved Praiano and found it very easy to get about. Everyone was very friendly and it was a wonderfully relaxing break.

Travel tips

  • The villa is beautiful and the views to die for. The walk up is not so bad and makes you feel less guilty about the wonderful food.
  • Please look after the fishes - they need food and possibly the water refreshing if it hasn't been done recently.

September 2008 - With all those steps in the first few days I thought we'd made a mistake. But you can't have an elevated view like that without the steps and it's a price well worth paying. It's particularly the small balcony off the master bedroom that I think of when I picture those jaw-droppingly stunning views. The way, at dusk, the colour of the sea becomes the same as the sky and you are witness to an enormous expanse of blue - priceless.

Another guest mentioned the proximity of the football pitch but actually for us that just added to the pleasure - watching and hearing the boys, and girls, enjoying their games of football.

And the church bells! So loud you'd think you wouldn't be able to sleep but somehow you do - like an angel.

The ceilings! You could have stared at them all day if the beauty of the Amalfi Coast didn't beckon.

We loved feeding the fish in the pond every day. The swimming pool is big but the permanent cover means it is in the shade at all times so be prepared - it's very cold, though that can be welcome after a hot day exploring.

The only disappointment was the living room which, with just a few small changes, could have been so much more comfortable. There's no need for the vast table in there - another few comfy chairs would have been welcome, and a coffee table - and we could have done without the fake flowers. The polyester cover on the sofa was cheap and not suited to such a beautiful place. But to sum it up: Go!! It's worth it just for the views alone and to be in an authentic Italian setting - everyone you meet on the steps says buon giorno and makes you feel welcome.

I left my spectacles behind in the villa and Luigi [the owner] sent them on to me by DHL and wouldn't accept any payment, bless him.

Highly recommended, though not for very young children, the very elderly or those with mobility issues.

Travel tips

  • You might find the kitchen doesn't have everything you need in it but don't hesitate to phone Luigi, the owner, who is happy to drop anything off to you that you need. He even dropped off a little coffee table for the balcony so we could enjoy our morning coffee/evening Campari out there!
  • Whatever you do, rent the smallest car you can get away with - nothing can quite prepare you for those coastal roads (though once you're used to it it's wonderful).
  • Be prepared to pay very high rates for parking (20 euros for six hours is normal)- we paid more in parking fees than we did in gas for two weeks!
  • The supermarket we'd recommend is called Tutto per Tutti (Everything for Everyone) - they don't rip people off as it's used by locals and they're incredibly friendly and helpful.
  • Avoid a pizzeria/ristorante called San Gennaro - it's overpriced.
  • The local beach, La Praia is gorgeous but it's pebbles, not sand, so we recommended those Croc sandal things - yes, they're ugly as sin but you'll bless them when you're hobbling over the pebbles to take a swim. The little cafe down there - La Conchiglia - is adorable and very reasonable.
  • Everything's very laid back and you can sit in a cafe with your towel wrapped around you - gorgeous.
  • You can rent a self-drive speedboat from the beach (very exciting!) and get a trip to the Emerald Grotto (a teensy bit disappointing) from there.
  • Buy a can of ant-stuff on your first day if there isn't one in the villa - they'll plague you otherwise - it's not dirty, just the heat. Don't put any unfinished food on the counter or in the cupboards or it'll be swarming with ants an hour later.
  • Take a flashlight with you - handy for returning at night when the odd pile of dog poo or broken paving stone might catch you unawares.
  • You will love this enchanting villa - the views and setting are something you'll remember for a long time to come.

August 2008 - Villa Amanda is in a great location on the coast, with fantastic views out to sea and along towards Amalfi.

The decor is excellent with a lot of effort and money spent - all the tiling and crockery is from the owners own ceramics business.

The pool is covered so helps with seclusion and is a really good size.

We would definitely consider returning to this villa.

Travel tips

  • The only consideration for guests is the access from the road. The free car park is a 5 mins walk along lit alleys and steps, and to get anywhere you need to be prepared to climb lots of steps!
  • There is a really good and cheap local bus service that goes along the coast road to Positano and Marina di Praia where the better restaurants are, and I would recommend getting your Capri trip from the Marina rather than going into Positano.
  • For the more adventurous, a short hike up the hill gets you to the main Positano trail with amazing views, but take water!

August 2008 - My wife, my 16-year old son, and I enjoyed Villa Amanda immensely. We felt like we were living in Praiano albeit we were there for only a week.

It is an exceptionally beautiful home, and the people are lovely. The only disadvantage is the distance to the beach/sea and we wished for a sandy beach rather than rocky. However, this was only a minor detraction.

Luigi is a gracious and attentive host.

You have done an excellent job in selecting Villa Amanda as one of your offerings. I would not hesitate to recommend Summer in Italy (and already have). You have earned my trust.

August 2007 - My family loved Villa Amanda.

The villa was lovely and it was wonderful being surrounded by the locals! We loved the sound of the church bells and watching the boys play soccer and our view was amazing!

It is quite the walk to get to the car so be prepared. It didn't bother us, but might be hard for young children and seniors.

Travel tips

July 2007 - The Villa and the coast of Amalfi were both enchanting.

The villa has everything you need and as a family we very much enjoyed staying there.

We decided to book with you as the selection of villas looked of a high standard, however you never know until you get there. We were not disappointed this villa is great and would use your company again and recommend you to family and friends.

Travel tips

  • The first weekend of July Praiano celebrates St Luca with fireworks (that sounds like bombs) these start at 7 am until midnight. The celebrations itself are wonderful, with bands playing and other firework displays.
  • The buses are reliable and cheap, a boat trip to Capri is worth it - for the swim in the Grotto.
  • If you do not like using the roads (as they can be scary!) take a boat taxi - the scenery is breathtaking.
  • There are plenty of nice restaurants locally and in Positano and Amalfi.

June 2007 - The villa was absolutely lovely.

Everything was clean and we especially enjoyed the pool; it was cold and refreshing.

Travel tips

  • We were warned about the number of steps from the villa to the car. What we didn't realize was that it was more steps to town. We had planned to do a lot of day trips, but the driving was so stressful that we tended to stay in Praiano. We did take a water taxi to Amalfi and that made us really appreciate being in non-touristy town.

April 2007 - Villa Amanda was in a perfect setting in a perfect Amalfi Coast village.

We loved the lanes and walks over the cliff faces above the village and the peaceful surroundings. Morning tea on the balcony at 8 am overlooking the Med, what more could you ask for!

It was a wonderful week and one we hope to repeat!

Dealing with you has been easy & you've always been helpful. We loved Italy and plan to see much more in future. I will definitely be checking on what you can provide in future!

Travel tips

  • If you don't like walking up and down steps then this isn't for you! We loved it!! A real Amalfi Coast village setting with friendly locals.
  • The local shop (just 3 minutes away) could cater for most of our provisions and by the end of the week my Italian was nearly as good as her English!!
  • The Villa is special and not your normal holiday house, from the minute you enter the terrace it is somewhere special!!
  • A day trip to Amalfi on the boat from Positano is a must!!

January 2007 - We had the most wonderful time at Villa Amanda. The views of the sea are amazing and the people are wonderfully helpful. We could not have asked for a better location or a more charming property.

The kitchen is very clean and well stocked, the bathrooms are spotless, and the T.V. gets the BBC if you feel like you need to catch up on the evening news.

Summer in Italy did a wonderful job. Thanks again. We had a wonderful time.

Travel tips

  • The property is a ten to twelve minute walk from the car park. This is only a minor inconvenience when hauling luggage to the property.
  • The town has a small Internet cafe and a well stocked grocery store.

July 2006 - We loved Villa Amanda, we didn't want to leave and continue our travels!

The Local church bells were complete zen like as this is the only way we told the time. At first we thought it would grind on us but the chiming made it all the more relaxing.

The local store had everything we needed, Bread, Mozzarella di Bufala (YUMMMM), Wine, Pasta, Gelato, etc. It was marvellous!

The pool was an absolute treat and the stairs to the villa and around Praiano were a good work out for the delicious food we ate.

I would love to come back to Villa Amanda and have told all our friends how beautiful it it is. I would not hesitate recommending your divine villa to anyone who loves time out and likes to live like a local for a short time. After visiting Positano and Capri we could not wait to get back to the serenity of Praiano and pretend to not be a tourist. Ti amo Praiano e Villa Amanda.

We found Summer In Italy extremely professional. If only all holiday booking agents were as efficient and professional as you. The next time we plan a vacation in Italy/Europe i will definitely search your site and try to book with you again. Thank you.

May 2006 - Villa Amanda is situated in the middle of a hill overlooking the sea, having a south view.

The Villa itself is extraordinary with many beautiful features. It has a modern kitchen with all conveniences including microwave, coffeemaker, gas stove and oven, large refrigerator and double stainless sink. There is no true 'living room' by American standards, rather a large central room with a beautiful ceramic table for 8 and couch along one wall, a combined living/dining area. The ceiling is exquisitely painted in the main room and in the master bedroom. Marble stairs go to the second floor which has its own bedroom and bathroom with shower (master bath has tub and shower). Windows are double-paned with beautiful wood shutters. Everything WORKS in this villa!

Now to the best part - the outdoor patio - with another beautiful ceramic table and chairs, you can sit outside and sip wine and watch the moonrise in the evening and see the lights of Praiano below. A large swimming pool sits above the patio with clean, cool water. This villa has only one minor drawback and that is its location; it is in the small town of Praiano which means you must have a car for transport to the other towns (Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento) from which you can get the boats to Capri and other services. (Make sure to rent a SMALL car to negotiate the twisty tiny roads!) Also you need to negotiate substantial numbers of steep stone stairs to the villa. On the other hand, this is not a touristy town so would be highly prized by some, particularly as few people speak English in Praiano, so knowing a little basic Italian helped.

The owners are wonderful people.

To summarize, when we first walked into this villa, it took our breath away, so exceptional.

We would love to come back.

October 2005 - Villa Amanda is a gem. The landlord, Mr Luigi, and his family are tremendously helpful and gracious. It is an added pleasure that the host family owns and operates a three generation, high caliber ceramic factory. It was wonderful to learn some about ceramics. The hand painted designs are beautiful.

We were fortunate to have rented the villa at the time of the festival of San Luca. The villa has special, historic ties to the patron saint and to the church of San Luca that is visible from the terraces. We were treated to special church bell ringing. (Mr. Luigi says that the ringing is still done by hand) Also, one evening at dinner we witnessed an exciting fireworks show on the terrace. The fireworks were so nearby that it appeared as if the lights were almost over our heads.

Villa Amanda is clean, comfortable, modern and in fact beautiful. One could spend an entire day lying in bed and looking at the painted domed ceiling in the downstairs bedroom. If the vacation was longer I would have taken advantage of the villa's proximity to the Walk of the Gods and the Walk of the Mills.

It is important to note, I think, that those that would like to lease Villa Amanda will want healthy strong walking legs. The Villa is a good distance from town and the free parking lot. The ways are steep as is typical of the Amalfi Coast. Our family loved the walking. The old Vias are picturesque and historical and we had no objection to a good workout. One of our traveling members even found a local workout center within walking distance from the villa.

My family and I sincerely thank our host and his family for their hospitality and for making this vacation at Villa Amamnda possible. I hope one day that we will be able to return.

Summer in Italy gets high marks. I would recommend Summer In Italy to anyone and would use you again without hesitation. Thank you to the staff for helping us find and secure Villa Amanda for a memorable vacation. You were easy to connect with (and didn't seem to mind) when we had questions or needed to get messages to Mr. Luigi. We decided to book with Summer in Italy because of your web site. It was professional, easy to use, very comprehensive. As first time travellers to Italy we were apprehensive and in a way vulnerable. The testimonies and statement of trust helped in the decision to book with you. The extra information (like Renting a Car, bus timetables and cultural notes) was very helpful.

October 2005 - Villa Amanda exceeded our expectaions! It's difficult to choose somewhere to stay from a computer screen, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The villa is beautiful and exceptionally clean with wonderful views of the sea. The owners were very accomodating. You must visit their ceramics shop. We did and purchased a table for our front porch at home in Minnesota.

October 2005 - We had a fantastic stay at Villa Amanda. The Villa is beautiful and the views superb. The location is great but not ideal for elderly or the very yong. You need to park your car quite a distance from the villa and walk up and down many stairs to reach it.

The pictures on the web site are very accurate and if you are going I would recomend you study them carefully all the details are contained in them. I would not recommend this villa without a car but driving on the Amalfi coast was the most difficult thing I have ever done.

September 2005 - There are no words to describe the beauty and the tranquility of staying at Villa Amanda. Everything about it was spectacular (including the steps).

We enjoyed meeting the local people who were extremely pleasant and the town of Praiano was a respite from the crowds of tourists in other locations.

Having drinks on the bedroom balcony at night, looking at the full moon over the Mediterranean was like a dream.

The owner of the villa was very pleasant and accommodating. He surprised us with a toaster and a coffee pot and coffee because we mentioned that we like to have that type of breakfast in the morning. Thank you so much, Mr. Luigi.

The pool also was an added bonus.

Our vacation was perfect and we want to thank everyone associated with making it so memorable.
