We had a wonderful stay

October 2019 - We had a wonderful stay in Palazzo Crocione. The view from the balcony of the town/bay and mountains both at day and night was breathtaking. There is a very generous terrace area for eating and playing cards.

As mentioned before - the small supermarket was very near and well stocked. Also mentioned was to be prepared for lots of steps as the house is situated a bit above the main streets but it kept us all fit!

Roberto [the owner] was very pleasant and took time to explain how everything worked and Summer In Italy were also extremely friendly and helpful and always got back to me promptly. Thank you so much.

If you are prepared for a bit of walking, I would highly recommend staying here.

Travel tips

  • Hire a small boat from the foreshore for half a day and take a trip to Amalfi. On the way back - anchor the boat near to the shore and jump in to cool off.

Beautifully Italian and every detail was thought of

September 2019 - Palazzo Crocione exceeded our expectations! It was beautifully Italian and every detail was thought of.

The view was amazing and the villa is well situated within walking distance to shops and a lovely market.

Loved our stay

July 2019 - We loved our stay at Palazzo Crocione. It's absolutely as beautiful as the pictures.

We practically lived on the terrace. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and comfortably furnished, and the kitchen is completely equipped for any amount of cooking and dining in you might want to do. It was just the right amount of space for two couples.

The location is wonderful--a panoramic view of the town and the ocean, but very easy to get to. There's a bus stop and a grocery store just down the street, and the walk to the seaside and central part of the town is quite short.

The people at Summer in Italy were wonderful to work with. They answered all my emails quickly, explained everything, and offered recommendations for drivers and other extras. I would absolutely book with them again, and will recommend them to my friends.

Very much enjoyed it

July 2019 - We very much enjoyed staying at the Villa. Roberto was very helpful when we arrived and helped us with our luggage.

Travel tips

  • There is a little grocery store at the bottom of the steps up to the villa, which had good prices and a good selection for being relatively small.
  • The restaurants down on the beach are good but it's a bit of a hike back up through the town to the villa. There are taxis that can run you around but they are quite expensive -- a 5 minute ride from the town square up to the Liparlati bus stop (the drop off point for the villa) was 20 euro. [Future guests, please note: bus service is also available, the ticket currently costs 1.30 euro per person]

We absolutely loved Palazzo Crocione

June 2019 - Spectacular view from the terrace and loved the market the owner's cousin owned. We bought cheese, pasta, meats, wine and cooked several nights in the full kitchen.

Great feedback and assistance from Summer In Italy - all was wonderful!

July 2018 - I enjoyed it, just be prepared to walk a lot of steps, but that’s expected in Positano anyways... If your looking for an authentic house, I recommend it.

Summer In Italy service was good.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared to walk steps! I loved them, but be aware that there are many!
  • There is literally no parking in Positano so I suggest getting drivers to take you to and from the airport and on a tour of Pompeii.
  • We took the Sita bus to Amalfi and Ravello and a boat trip to the Isle of Capri. All were wonderful adventures.
  • Make sure you get some fresh pastries at the bakery or market just one set of stairs below the villa. Try the local wines and enjoy the cheeses and salamis/ hams etc! Hint...They are wonderful to share on the villa patio! Everything you need can be found at this market. The owner is wonderful.

Very good

June 2017 - The view was amazing but it needs to be duly noted that it's at the top of the cliff and the shopping and restaurants and beach are at the bottom, requires strenuous walking daily for people that are more fit not the elderly nor handicapped.

Professional service.

Travel tips

  • I would advise people good shoes pack for the day since it's a lengthy walk.
  • The sunset cruise that you come back down on the beach with Blue Star was a great excursion.

A perfect location with amazing vies

May 2017 - We absolutely loved the villa! We were celebrating my birthday and this was the perfect location.

The owner Roberto is easy to work with and gave great information about Positano. Everything was beautiful but the terrace and views are amazing.

I decided to book with you because you represented the villa I wanted. Glad I found you as you are professional, communicate well, and provide good assistance!

Travel tips

  • There are a lot of steps to get to the villa so be in good shape and prepared to walk stairs.
  • There is a market close by and Giuseppe the owner is very helpful and does speak English. He also has a great selection of cheeses, meats, and pastries.
  • La Taverna del Leone is an awesome restaurant and they provide shuttle service to and from the restaurant.

More beautiful in person!

October 2016 - Palazzo Crocione was more beautiful in person! It was enchanting to say the least... Comfortable clean, and well equipped, and the VIEWS!! Be ready for the steps but well worth it. Would recommend to friends and family.

Roberto [the owner] was great! He told us of the restoration he did and it is impressive!

I was well pleased with the communication and ease of every part of the planing and arrival and departure. Everything was smooth and would definitely use Summer In Italy again.

Travel tips

  • There is a grocery store just down the stairs on the street below. Friendly and helpful and so convenient.
  • You can have the bus drop you off right there also after walking to town which we did everyday.
  • Look for the local bus or you might be taking an unwanted trip out of town! Like our husbands did!! Haha!

Fantastic

May 2015 - Palazzo Crocione was gorgeous. The pictures just don't do it justice. Breakfast every morning on the terrace was "to die for" and we even used the little mini kitchen on the terrace one night. The "sitting" furniture was a bit uncomfortable (but looked beautiful).

I would highly recommend this property for couples. There's no better way to immerse yourself in Positano than by staying in Palazzo Crocione.

Working with Summer In Italy was effortless. The one thing I was very impressed with is the fact that you ALWAYS responded to my emails within an hour. That level of customer service is virtually unheard of nowadays. I will (and have) recommend(ed) you every chance I get.

Travel tips

  • Don't worry about stocking up on food and toiletries before you arrive, there's a little local market about 20 meters from the bottom step which has EVERYTHING (including fresh veggies and fruit, prosciutto, cheeses, and freshly squeezed orange juice, etc). They also deliver, and take credit cards!!!
  • Be sure to make reservations at Restaurant La Tagliata for at least one night (you'll take back about three meals worth of food with you from the restaurant).

September 2014 - We will long cherish our stay at Palazzo Crocione!

The property is superb; we mostly lived on the terrace since the view at any time of day is enchanting.

Our host was gracious, informative and even helped us with our luggage.

We booked with Summer In Italy upon recommendation of friends and will gladly pass the good news along.

Travel tips

  • While there are only 70 steps up to the apartment, there are three times as many to get down to the main town level (just something to be aware of).
  • Bring binoculars to enhance the terrace view.
  • If you have a clip light for reading in bed, it would be useful.
  • Restaurant Da Bruno is the best meal in town. Don't be in a hurry for your check.
  • Mini market has everything you need and the nicest people, too!

Very good

August 2014 - Palazzo Crocione is a wonderful property in very good condition with an amazing view and a fabulous terrace.

It is up a lot of steps which cannot be avoided but this is well covered in the property description.

Travel tips

  • Make sure you are aware of the steps.
  • Be aware that many of the restaurants are accessible by catching the local bus up to the top of Positano and then winding down the road on other side from this property.
  • It is easy to make a day trip to Amalfi and walk around to Atrani by either boat or bus.
  • A day trip to Ravello is also easy to arrange in a similar way or with a driver and should not be missed.

July 2013 - Felt like a Principessa in her Palazzo! Traveled with another couple. Roberto [the owner] was timely and helpful in all regards. The villa was well-equipped in the kitchen, and even had a full outdoor cooking area/grill, toaster, sink. FUN!

The view is "to die for." Yes - even laying down you have a magnificent view!!! The flowers surrounding the veranda are so beautiful, and the tile (by local ceramic factories) that covered the veranda from head to toe was gorgeous! The arbor overhead with bunches of bright green grapes dripping from their vines was not only picturesque but provided the perfect protection from the afternoon sun. We could have all literally just sat on our veranda like Kings and Queens and had a magnificent time.

Down @120 steps below, the mini-market, and the entire family who ran this little gem, was so special. If you wanted it and they didn't have it, voilà, they got it for you the next day. They have a deli as well. They also helped with arranging a driver for us to Hotel Villa Franca for an incredible dinner and another "10" view! Seriously Palazzo Crocione has one of THE BEST views of this magnificent diamond of a town. The steps by the way were great exercise and allowed us to work off all of the lovely calories we were eating in Positano! They even had gluten free pasta and acquired some gluten free rolls for me to bake at the villa so I could enjoy some wonderful Italian ham and cheese sandwiches :)

The ceilings are 15' (at least) and are restored to original frescos and detailed trims (serious princess feelings). One of the bathrooms that goes with the bedroom off of the large veranda is about 20 steps away through the living room and kitchen. Did not bother us at all. It was VERY large with tall pedestal sink and large 2-person stone tub with a side room for the toilet. The other bedroom is connected to both the kitchen and the front bedroom, and separated by doors that are 10' tall (did I mention the Villa felt like a palazzo?) We just closed these and the walls are so thick there that the rooms were sound-proof. That bedroom had its own private bath with modern shower and rain-head. The rooms had plenty of storage to hang clothes and drawers for folded items so I completely unpacked and moved in! Ahhhhhh!!!

The veranda has 4 lovely chaise lounges and 4 chairs and a table. We slept outside a couple evenings, because the view was so stunning and the breeze amazing, and NO BUGS!

They supplied bathroom paper products, and the washer worked well. They had a terrific sized "dry rack" we put out on the narrow end of the veranda. Things dry so quickly since so low humidity. Full size fridge. Other than liquids and butter, we purchased "fresh" daily from the market. The LEMONS are to die for on the Amalfi Coast. Lemon - anything...

Speedy and efficient you are. We chose you due to Palazzo Crocione being your listing. All went smoothly. Thank you!

Travel tips

  • If arriving by plane in Naples - use Rainbow Limos rental to get a driver to take you to Pompeii and Ravello on the way to Positano. What a Grand Day.
  • If taking train before or after Positano - take the train to Salerno and ferry to or from Positano. Easy - quick and Salerno is just a one block walk to the train station from the Ferry. AWESOME! What a beautiful way to see Amalfi, Praiano, Positano and the Amalfi Coast in general from the water and "dirt cheap" $12.
  • If taking train buy tickets online about 45-60 days in advance and save a bundle. We always get first class and only paid $39 for our ticket to Rome. They have these tickets in limited availability but keep releasing a couple up until about 30 days prior. So book early and save on your Trenitalia tickets!
  • Steps to the beach = 520 HA! Great exercise
  • Day trip to Capri was fabulous! Get in a group of max 12 people and have a private tour that takes you to the 3 grottos. Be sure to take the funicular (train) up the hill to Capri and see Augustus Gardens. Favorite lunch on earth was at "Ristorante Il Geranio" - look up as you are leaving Augustus Gardens - amazing food and view! Be sure to insist they let you see the Blue Grotto - they will say it is a 2 hour wait, but it only took us about 15 minutes when we insisted until the boat came out. We tipped our boat guy 15 euro and he cleared out the cave so we could swim all by ourselves in the grotto! Highlight of our trip! They will tell you no big deal - NOT TRUE!
  • Restaurants we enjoyed: Cafe Positano, Chez Black, Covo dei Saraceni, Hotel Villa Franca - wanted to try Il Tridente but never got there.

October 2012 - Palazzo Crocione is stunningly beautiful. The only thing more beautiful than the villa itself is the view from the perfectly situated terrace.

Mr. Roberto [the owner] was helpful, courteous, and very professional. He even helped us out with lost luggage problems! Thank you, Mr. Roberto!

Summer In Italy was easy to work with. I have nothing but positive feelings toward them for helping us plan a perfect vacation!

Travel tips

  • Do plan on a day trip to Ravello.
  • Do not bring a car! Parking is expensive and hiring a driver is reasonably priced and there are buses going everywhere.
